Hi,
For connecting to MDM, you would first need to deploy the MDM adapter. Please go through the following links for deployment of MDM adapter and configuration requred for connectivity.

  • Connecting MDM to a LDAP directory (IDM)

    Hi experts,
Does anybody already connected MDM to a LDAP directory? I have a requirement to integrate MDM with IDM (Novell). The IDM should mantain users and groups of MDM.
Also, is there any way to connect UME on MDM user and groups database? this solution is also valid once the IDM is already integrated with EP.
    Thanks in advance,
    Armando Martines Neto

    Hi Armando,
MDM integration with LDAP is supported in MDM 7.1, you can configure and use LDAP as a datasource for users and roles. You can create a custom attribute in LDAP to identify the MDM Roles. Refer to the MDM Console Reference Guide for the procedure.
Regarding you second question, if you have configured the same LDAP ds in portal also then you can us Trusted Connections to enable SSO between portal and MDM.
    Hope this helps!!
    Cheers,

  • Connected MDM and LDAP, but but now what? Why user mapping?

    Hi Gurus,
In my last thread, I posted that I was not able to connect MDM with LDAP. I was finally able to.
My problem now is I have to define user mapping in SAP Portal for the MDM business iViews to work.
By connecting MDM and LDAP, I got the benefit that now the authentication and authorization is happening via LDAP.
But this does eliminate the need for user mapping. If this is the case then why the real benefit of using LDAP?
In this case this becomes worse as I need to know the user's LDAP Password which no body will share for sure.
Any ideas? I want to get rid off this user mapping stuff.
    Warn Regards,
    Karan

without knowing specifics of ur architecture, i can quickly point out two things:
    1)  LDAP is primarily used for authentication, true.
    2) Portal User mapping should not be an issue if u already have portal tied up to the active directory or some kind of single sign on?
So portal knows the users who has logged it, polls the Active directory for authentication and Active directory logs into MDM with that users role.

  • Connect MDM components (MDM, MDIS) with Oracle (MCOD)

    Hello!
I successfully installed SRM-MDM Catalog with MDS and MDIS and MDM console
(scenario: SAP EHP4 ERP system with SRM server, SAP EP EHP1 and SRM-MDM Catalog).
Now I would like to integrate MDM with Oracle.
On the server I allready have 2 Oracle instances (SAP EHP4 ABAP and Portal).
So I have MCOD Oracle installation.
What are the technical steps (oralce steps) to connect MDM components with Oracle?
    (editing tnsnames.ora, creating/modifying tablespaces)
    kind regards

    Hi!
    Thank you very much!
    My current situation:
Oracle software was installed and updated to version 10.2.0.4 by previous ABAP and Portal system.
Now I installed MDM with MDM ans MDIS.
So I have ABAP, Portal and MDM components on the same windows server.
Now I would like to connect my MDM components to Oracle.
    Questions:
    1) Which oracle post installation steps do I need, when I allready installed Oracle and have 2 oracle separate instances on the same server (MCOD)?
    a) modification of  TNSNAMES.ORA
    b) creation of new oracle users for MDM/modification of environment variables for MDM OS users
    b) creation of new database instance or integration of MDM into existing ABAP or Portal oracle instance
    Thank you very much!
    kind regards

  • What is the best approach to connect MDM server.

    Hi Experts,
There are sevaral ways to connect MDM server from EP
    1) Using JNDI look up
    2) Throgh SystemAlias
Which one is best among performance wise, and can any body explain advantages and disadvantages
    of all three.
    Regards,
    Sandeep.

    Hi Sandeep,
Kindly go through the link below for information on
Accessing MDM Repositoryu2019s Data and Edit It, Create New Records through Portal
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40ac1b5b-d33e-2b10-5892-b29c890eaa01
This article uses the method of System Alias.
The second link gives you info on
    Looking Up Enterprise Beans
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/38/3e5a4201301453e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
I have done the EP integration with MDMusing System ALias. However I hav'nt done it using JNDI Lookup.
Hence it will be difficult to compare the performance of both the process. However, while working with System Alias, the performance was quite good as easily you can connect to the repository in a MDM server and then perform the User mapping. The fiurther process can be understood in the article mentioned above.
    Hope it helps.

  • Connecting MDM to Remote System

    Hello,
I was brought on-site to an MDM assignment that is connected to an SAP 4.7 system. The client is now upgrading to ECC 6.0 and I am going to be in charge of pointing the MDM system from 4.7 to 6.0.
I am not sure where to start or where to look to figure out how to create a new connection to a remote system. I have looked in the Console Ref. Guide, the MDM Master Guide, and a few other places.
Can anyone help me with what needs to be done and perhaps where there is documentation to walk me through this?
    Thanks experts!

Edited by: Nichole Smith on Jul 26, 2010 5:52 PM

    HI Nichole
the remote system defined in MDM is only the logical system and ports are defined pertaining to the remote system defined. This has in turn no dependencies on related landscape.
So no changes required at MDM side. (If you can continue with the existing system name for ECC).
If not change the remote system name in MDM first with the correct logical name.
In the PI system landscape  and also ECC we need to define the logical systems matching/pointing to MDM defined remote systems.
You can refer to below thread for step by step guidnace for establishing interface between MDM and ECC
    MDM-ECC Integration

  • Cannot connect to sever web sites.

I am running multiple services with the latest version of OS X 10.6 Server on my MacMini (web, mail, ichat, address book, etc.) . When I try to open my websites I get an "unable to find sever message". Everything has been working fine for the last 2 years and no changes have been made to the server settings, ISP, or DNS. All other services are working as they should. The server is hooked up to an Airport Extreme via a cable modem with a static IP. I have tried the following thus far:
    1) restarted the server, airport extreme, and cable modem
    2) checked the DNS via the web and my site addresses are pointing to my static IP address
    3) turned Web services off and on again in Server Admin
    4) checked the Airport port mapping to make sure Web Service (Port 80) was still open
Any idea what's causing the problem???
    Thank you.

    Gracoat,
I checked all cables and they are plugged in and seated properly.
I typed "changeip -checkhostname" in the terminal and got "serveradmin must be run as root" ...(sorry, I'm not a command line kinda guy)

I attempted to open my websites, and connect remotely via VPN, from multiple sources without any luck ...it appears the server cannot be reached. All worked fine a few days ago and had been for quite some time.
My SSL certificate expired several months ago and I created a new one back then. It worked after the new certificate was installed and is still current. I have tried disabling SSL in the sites security settings but still they cannot be reached.
The only changes I can think of that may have been made in recent months to the sever is a system software update. Other than that, I'm at a loss. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

  • Connecting MDM to CRM

    Hi all,
has anyone tried to connect the MDM directly to SAP CRM? I know that the CRM normally gets its master data from an R/3 but lets pretend its a standalone CRM. Data can be sent MDM -> XI -> IDOC, but CRM does not use any MATMAS IDoc. Is the only way to get that data into CRM by creating an IDOC and the related functions in CRM or is there an "easy way" around that, like an IDoc in CRM that only has to be mapped against a MATMAS-type IDoc?
    Regards,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
first of all CRM does not make use of IDocs. Instead it has its own middleware layer using the so called BDocs, which are used for communication with R/3.
For CRM 4.0 there is some standard XI Content and the according Proxies you can use. You can download it from http://service.sap.com/swdc --> Support Packages and Patches --> SAP Content --> Process Integration Content (XI Content) --> XI CONTENT BBPCRM --> XI CONTENT BBPCRM 4.0.
Import this contetn to XI, then open SPROXY in your CRM, if CRM is connected to XI you'll see all XI components including BBPCRM there. This component contains a proxy ProductSetIn and ProductSetOut as already explained by Lars. Use this to transfer material data.
    Best regards

  • Inter iView Connectivity : MDM SP4

    Hi,
I'm working with EP Business Package for MDM SP4. The requirement is to integrate the functionality of MDM iViews with Web Dynpro iViews. This can be done through client side eventing ( EPCF ) and I read in MDM SP4 feature list that, this connectivity is provided.
But, I'm not able to find any documents on the events being trigerred by MDM iViews. If anyone has tried or have some idea please do tell me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mausam

    Dear Mausam,
please confirm: the suggested steps from chapter Support of the How to guide were applied.
Does it work now ? Is the mdm config visible in UWL Content
    Configuration ?
If there is still no result (e.g. the mdm config still not visible in
UWL Content Configuration), then most probably this is a wrong
deployment issue on NW04s that will be fixed in SP4 patch3.
Please proceed with the following workaround:
    1. locate the com.sap.mdm.uwl.par file in the installation folder of
    Portal, e.g.
    \usr\sap\<sysID>\JC<instanceNo>\j2ee\cluster\server<cluster>\apps\sap.
    com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd\com.sap.mdm.uwl.par.
    bak
    2. open the zipped com.sap.mdm.uwl.par.bak file (e.g. using WinZip or
WinRar), and extract the file uwl_mdm.xml to your local PC.
    3. logon to portal with Admin access, and navigate to System
Administration -> System Configuration -> Universal Worklist & Workflow
-> Universal Worklist - Administration -> Click to Administrate Item
Types and View Definitions -> Upload new configuration -> then Upload
the xml file from the step 2 above.
    4. restart the com.sap.netweaver.uwl services and clear the UWL cache
(as described in the above referenced article).
Does it work now ? Is the mdm config visible in UWL Content
    Configuration ?
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards.
    Laszlo.

    Hi ,
I found a document which says that MDM4J is the legacy API and is considered deprecated .The MDM Java API is the new one .I have both of them in the java build path . I am not sure if this is that cause of the problem .
Now I had a look at the javadoc for the new API but I am not able to locate the class to obtain a connection to the MDM server from a custom application being built in Netweaver Developer Studio . Can someone help me out with the same ?What would be the code to obtain the connection to the MDM server with the new JAVA API ?
