Connection problem with Zen visio

I wanted to sync the player today and my PC did not recognize it
steps I tried to:
reboot the player
2 use different USB cable
3 install software onto a different PC
... and no luck
so what could be wrong? I never dropped this player and it is working fine for the most part
Creative support is hard to reach even through e-mail. If I knew this product would cause so much grief I would get an Ipod

hi! nobody a clue what could be wrong? :-((

    Hello ;-)
Well, i have some serious problem.
Sometime ago, my zen xtra worked perfekt and i had no problems.
    Until some days...
Of course the driver is installed on my PC (also the Explorer Software).
However, my zen is not recognised by the system. i always get the message, that no driver is found when i plug in the USB connection and i have this yellow icon in my hardware manager.
The display of the player also does not change to the "connectedtoPC" icon as it always has done before.
The same problem exists on my second pc.
    I am at a loss.
Maybe a player hardware problem with the usb interface?! ;-((
    Thanks and kind regards.

Hi. i had selected a picture for my vision's wallpaper bt i notice then when u navigate thru the menu, the words(as in the from the next page) will slide from left of the screen to the centre right? But my wallpaper seems to slide together with the words, as in like a new one shift from the left to cover the current one. Can i ask if your zen vision M is also like this?
Also, i noticed that on my screen, there is a line of abt 0.5cm, like tiny water droplets inside the screen, which when u look at the screen from different angle, the colors there kinda become distorted. Shld i go change my player?Message Edited by nigel_3plus on 0-3-2006 0:54 AM

My problem is that i'm trying to backup all of my files from my Zen Micro to my laptop hardri've before I send it in to be repaired or replaced, but the creative Mediasource doesn't recognize the device when its plugged in, although both Windows Media Player and Zen Micro Media Explorer recognize it.

  • Having connection problems with Zen Touch...Please h

I haven't used my Touch in a while but I went to install everything last night on my XP machine and when I load MediaSource it says there is no player attached. Windows recognizes the player is there and I can see all the songs in Explorer and I even did the firmware upgrade and that worked. I also tried re-installing MediaSource and it knows the player is there during installation (cuz otherwise it would give an error) but once it is installed, the program can't find it.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

I'm trying to use MediaSource Organizer, as that seems to be the best way to recover the data without installing a new program/driver to my PC (as I said, my computer is really close to dying and I'm afraid if I have to restart it won't turn back on).Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to get MediaSource to show data files. All I can see are media files. I figured out how to show all files on My Computer menu but not for the Zen Touch menu. How do I see the data files?
MediaSource can't show data files. I believe only PlayCenter, Nomad Explorer and Notmad can do this (and also Creative File Manager, which is essentially a non-music version of Nomad Explorer).

This can't download data files, only audio (if it can even do that, from the player to the PC).

Have you tried plugging in the Zen and seeing if it charges, even though it doesnt' seem to show that it is charging? Also, you might want to update your firmware, see if that does anything.

  • Random Problems with Zen Micro? Try a diff. USB cable

I know people have mentioned this in other posts, but I thought I would reiterate it here. Many people seem to be complaining that their player is not recognized, or only sometimes recognized, or recognized by Windows (as a USB device) but not by their Creative software, or songs won't transfer, etc. Well, I had some similar problems which ALL went away when I started using a different USB cable - the one that shipped with the Micro just doesn't seem to work consistently.
So, if you are having problems with your player that you can't seem to solve any other way, you may want to try a different USB cable. It worked for me.
Hope this helps - I am (now) loving my new Micro!

I tried a different USB cable also, I thought that it would help, but I still got the same problems. I can almost guarantee that although you think you may have solved your issues, they WILL come back.
I've also been experiencing the "Player Not Connected" problem with my Zen Micro.
I've also had the problem where the Zen Micro just freezes in the "Docked" screen even after it has been disconnected from the PC
I've noticed that these are common problems with Zen Micros with the new firmware (.0.03)
My old Zen Micro with the old, original firmware did NOT have this connectivity problem
Creative should investigate these issues associated with this new firmware, or maybe even making the old firmware available for download to see if this really is the source of all these problems.

  • Problems With Zen Touch Turn

After just recently purchasing a Zen Touch in December 2005, I already have problems with it.
I have never dropped it or hit it. I plugged it in to re-charge one day after using it and when it was done charging I turned it on, used it for 5 minutes then set it down. The next morning I went to turn it on to use it, and it wouldn't turn on. The blue light at the side on the power button was on, but the screen just wouldn't show up. Now the blue light won't turn off. I have read about these problems with Zen Micro freezing up and read about Zen Touch freezing up back in 2004 when it was released. I have phoned the number but couldn't seem to get through. Should I consider taking it in? Or is there an easier way?

Have you tried resetting it's Connect to the mains adapter and press the tiny recessed button on the side of the player. Don't use anything sharp to press it, a bent paper clip is best.

  • Problem with Zen Xt

I purchased a refurbished Zen Xtra back in May and had the player lock up on several occasions. It would eventually resolve if I let the batteries drain and then recharge. The last time it happened I came to these forums and learned how to enter recovery mode. I tried to do a firmware update which failed and now the player will only boot into recovery mode. When I attempt to do the firmware update I get the message player not connected. I can see the player connected in windows and can actuall browse the HD which is obviously now empty. How can this be resolved?

Re: Problem with ZEN MX >FYes, it's true. Creative Centrale is full of **bleep**.:robotmad: You can use it only to one thing. To convert films from your computer to their stupid format called "cmv". But even with this it's stil the same problem. This is crap, because sometimes you can do it, but sometimes not. Beside of this Creative Centrale doesn't have any good functions. For further users - don't install Creative Centrale! You will have more free space and do all things (without moving films to watch on your player) just from your computer and not this **bleep**.

  • Strange problem with zen micro (I'm going mad!!

merry xmas!! I've bought a zen micro in seprember, flashed with .xx firmware; I always used it with windows 2000 with no problem, but... problems began when I've installed a pci card usb 2.0 on my pc; the card worked finely with everything but not with zen micro, that's to say that everytime I tried to import songs by media explorer, the program often wasn't able to import songs; so I've installed windows xp and flashed zen micro with 2.xx firmware (I've installed also service pack 2 and wmp0), but things have gone wrong!!! now everytime I connect zen micro to pc, xp asks the drivers, and it doesn't want neither the driver I've found on creative's cd, nor drivers downloaded from creative's site!! And it's not finished: now zen micro is without firmware and everytime I'm trying to flsh it, a dialogue box says that the player is not connect!!!
can anybody help me? otherwise I'll have to write to creative support for a substitution...
    please help me!!!!!

Strange. Unfortunately MTP connection problems are very tricky to solve. It's hard to know whether the firmware upgrade was partially successful, and whether you are on v or v2 firmware. It sounds like v2 firmware, due to the connection problems with MTP.
The drivers for the v2 firmware are provided by Windows Media Player 0, and are located in the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. You could try pointing there.
As the player has no firmware though you have to go into recovery mode, choose "reload firmware", then connect to the PC (see if it's detected) and run the firmware update again.
If this doesn't work try and find another PC, say a friend's, that meets the requirements of Win XP + SP/2 + WMP0, and see if you can update.
In terms of resolving the connection problem if it continues, have a look at this thread, particularly the reply by DM, which goes through some of the troubleshooting to solve MTP connection problems. Also look for the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post.

  • Problem with Zen Touch Playlists Resol

With the help of Jean-Francois, a colleague of my husband's, I figured out the problem I was having with putting playlists on my Zen Touch MP3 player in the order in which I wanted them to play, and it's a simple solution but one I thought I'd pass on to others in case anyone else runs into this problem:
Simply put, when you make playlists, have your MP3 player docked with your computer, and make sure that in the MediaSource Organizer program, the player is highlighted (well, it's a gray bar) when you start making the playlist. Then start with "new playlist," give it a name and enter the songs you want in the order you want as usual. What you're doing is actually building the playlist in the player rather than in the MediaSource Organizer, and the playlist will be created as you want it to be.
If, like me, you then want to transfer the playlist to your computer program, you'll find that it will turn up on the 'puter in alphabetical order (the problem I was having with the Zen Touch player); but it's a simple matter to click'n'drag the songs around until they're in the order you want - and, as far as I can tell, they will stay in that order once you've moved them.
So, problem solved - would have been nice if the User's Guide specifically said "you must dock your Zen Touch player to the computer while making playlists if you want the playlist to be in the proper order on your player," but we figured it out.....

Ok, so i plugged my zen touch into my pc yesterday to transfer files (rmvb) to my lappy, but it wouldn't work. so i updated all the software and now the pc recognizes the zen, but the programs (nomad, organizer) won't recognize it. so i used my laptop and it works fine except that it still won't transfer rmvb files. oh, it used to be able to transfer my rmvb files before this. i'm using windows xp. so i'm assuming that this is not a problem with my lappy or my pc... and it's a problem with the actual mp3. oh by the way, besides trying to fix the rmvb file transfer,
Data files are often a problem with the player. It sounds like you've tried pretty much everything you can short of a disk cleanup from rescue mode.
Failing this you could try formatting the player in case something has become corrupted. Of course make sure to backup the player first.
Also there's lots of advice via the "PC connection problems with your player" link in the FAQ post.

  • IPOD CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS XP VIA USB 2.0

    Enough is enough.
I have an ipod touch and I am having difficulty connecting it to my pc via usb 2.0.
I have searched the entire web and came across many cases similar or the same as mine. It's time for apple to face the fact that there is something wrong with either the apple mobile service or the apple usb drivers or the itunes software that causes connectivity problems with win xp.
For the record my case is this:
I got my itouch 3 days ago. I installed itunes 8.0. Then I plugged in my ipod to a usb extension cable port connected to a usb at the back of my desktop computer. At first I got the "this usb device can perform faster if you plug it to a usb 2.0 port etc." message. So I did. I removed the extension cable and connected it directly to one of the usb ports at the back. The first time it synchronized, it seemed fine. So I decided before I do anything with it, to update it to the 2.1 version. I made my account and bought (very bad policy there apple, it should be free or at least cheeper than 8 euro) the 2.1 update. I clicked to update the i-touch. While it was updating it crashed during the restore process (because it was disconnected but I didn't know that at the time). I unplugged it, resetted and plugged it back and managed to continue the restoring process until it was updated. After figuring out itunes I chose the "manage files manually option", kept everything unchecked in the sync options except the applications. I noticed there were random disconnections here and there but I didn't pay much attention because they weren't very frequent.
The next day I plug in the touch again and suddenly I hear that annoying "connecting-disconnecting" sound from windows while my touch kept disappearing and reappearing in itunes. Suddenly my playlists disappeared from the touch. Nothing was in the touch any more. How could that happen since i had chosen to manage my files manually instead of synchronizing? So I unplugged the touch again, restarted the touch, restarted the pc, stopped and restarted the apple mobile service, unistalled and reinstalled itunes, searched microsoft support and read many usb troubleshooting documents in the web. Nothing happened. The touch randomly keeps disconnecting from the usb. I eventually managed to put my stuff back in and keep them there.
    Here's what I know:
    1) There is nothing wrong with my usb ports. I don't use usb hubs, they are usb 2.0, the voltage (500mA) is correct in the device manager. Everything else works fine there.
    2) The ipod touch does not support disk mode so you can't see it under "my computer" and this is not a problem.
3)There is nothing wrong with the ipod, it works perfectly.
    4) This is not a usb cable physical problem.
    5) The five R's are irrelevant with this situation.
Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes doesn't solve the problem, neither does hard resetting the ipod.
    6) Older PC configurations seem to be more affected by this but it doesn't have to do with unsupported specific chipsets.
    Here's what needs investigating:
    1) There may be a problem with the apple mobile service running on win XP.
    2) There may be a problem with the apple usb driver and win XP or older motherboards.
    3) There may be a 2.1 firmware issue with usb 2.0 connectivity.
Workaround so you don't go nuts:
Use USB 1.1 instead of 2.0. It is A LOT slower but it keeps the connection stable and you can work with the ipod. Just start copying and go do something else for the next hour. So far it works for me.
This is a serious issue that needs immediate attention. I've stumbled across forum discussions dating to 2005 with this problem (with older ipods of course).

I think this needs to be put down to the eternal PC/Mac argument. Apple dont want to fix this as they want everyone to buy a Mac. Its a business, understandable, but in turning away PC buyers they alienate a huge percentage of the market.
Now, I had my first iTouch stolen. It synced, for the most part, very well, just occasionally it removed settings and music, but ticking boxes each time I sync'd sorted that, Its a workflow procedure.
SO, now that my Touch has been replaced, iTunes cannot see it. The PC can identify it on USB1 or USB2, My work lap top can see it and has indeed upgraded it to V2 software, just in case that was the issue, but no. For some really weird reason Itunes on my desktop cannot see the new pod.
This does not make sense with the argument that Apple software doesnt work on a PC, but doesnt help that none of the Apple support staff, phone or in-store have a clue about Windows operations.
Because my Touch has now been trying to connect to 6 separate installs of itunes, multiple USB ports, multiple USB cables, a complete overhaul of the registry settings (everything else still works), and the loss of all my previous settings and backups from the last Touch... but still, the PC says its an ipod but cant install it, iTunes sits there, dumb.
The only thing I can do now is sell the device as brand new as it has never had music on it and is just a week old...
It has changed the MiniMac I was going to have for my new flat screen TV into a PC and suggests that anyone with a PC should stick to devices that run on PC, of which there are many, just without the user interface of the dear departed IPod Touch.
    Thanks

  • Connectivity problems with Windows 7

I have connectivity problems with a Windows 7 machine. It's just lose the wireless connection from time to time, usualy "forgeting" Default Gateway. Any ideas? Please not the same machine did work very well on previus router: the problems did start after I installed Time Capsule as the main gateway. Thanks a lot.

Make sure you setup the TC with SMB compliant names.. short .. no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.
Use fixed channels.. not auto. Set a different name for 5ghz so it doesn't get mixed up between bands.
Check you have the latest drivers for the particular wireless card in the PC.. eg if a laptop don't download drivers from the laptop manufacturer.. get the ones from the wireless card.
