Connection problems w/HTC Mogul PPC phone via Missing Sync & Bluetooth

Can anyone help me connect my HTC Mogul phone to my Mac with Missing Sync using bluetooth? It syncs great using USB, but will not work with bluetooth. Is this an issue with the Mac, the bluetooth profile, or the phone? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi-Tech Computer devices use a different Bluetooth connection mechanism than devices manufactured by other ODMs.
Although I cannot find the specific note regarding HTC devices at the moment, here is a general note regarding Bluetooth troubleshooting, provided by Mark/Space. It includes a support link to follow if you cannot connect using the steps outlined in the note.

Is anybody syncing Address Book & iCal successfully between:
Mac 1 dotMac Mac 2 Treo 650 (via Missing Sync) Mac 1
I need reliable syncing in all directions for a number of users.
    Thanks,

    PS. Apologies for x-posting

I am going to assume for a moment that you actually mean…
Mac 1 .Mac Mac 2 and
Mac 1 Treo 650 via the Missing Sync for Palm OS
If you meant instead that your Treo serves as a means of synchronizing data on both Macintosh machines, you are headed for a data disaster. A Palm device should not be used as an intermediate 'storage' device to synchronize a pair of Macintosh computers.
The weakest link is .Mac, frankly, for a number of reasons, including availability and reliability. You might want to consider using MySync instead, which was just acquired from MildMannered Industries by Mark/Space. More information about that application is available here:
    http://www.mildmanneredindustries.com/mysync
Bonus: future compatibility is virtually guaranteed between The Missing Sync for Palm OS and MySync by this acquisition.
I do precisely what I outlined above—using .Mac Sync, but with a USB-attached Treo 600—with no issues whatsoever.

  • Palm Sync via Missing Sync

I have been using Missing Sync (version 5.1) to sync my Palm calendar with the Palm Desktop (version 4.2.1). I have started exporting Palm calendar via vCal file and importing into iCal 2.x. I have recently experienced trouble with one day or multi day events (without any time restraints).
In Palm Desktop the event is fine. In the imported iCal the one day event carries over to two days with the first day being the day before the event.
This is causing me to have to go through the iCal and adjust each of the one day and multi day event.
I have tried using Missing Sync's iCal conduits but not everything transfers.
    Any suggestions please?
    -Chuck

    CFL,
I don't know if you are still monitoring this, but when I had this problem last week, I concluded it was the result of how iCal handled HoliDates, the application I use for holidays, and also how it interprets multiday events differently from the Palm Desktop.
What I had to do was go through the iCal events, deleting ALL the oddities from the import, and replacing them with corrected versions in the iCal calendar. Because of this, I chose to do a hard reset of my Tungsten T3, and told Missing Sync to overwrite the handheld using the Mark/Space conduits. The other conduits are all set to "Do Nothing."
For this effort to make sense, you have to want to use iCal, Address Book, and Mark/Space MemoPad as your desktop PIM, and discontinue use of Palm Desktop. Tough decision, I know, because while old, the Palm Desktop is a very nicely integrated app.
Hope this helps if you are still trying to deal with the issue!

  • HTC 8X Windows Phone Texting, Missed Calls, and Turn-Off Issues!

First let me say that I've had my Windows 8x phone almost since they first came out and HAVE LOVED IT UP UNTIL the last 5 to 6 months so I don't think the problems are in the hardware or have anything to do with a "paper" SIM card (although - how could I know because we can't take the COVER off!)
Anyway, about 5 - 6 months ago, I started noticing the following:
my battery life (which used to be FANTASTIC) was occasionally dying very rapidly but then would be fine again
I'm getting "No Service" in places where I SHOULD BE.
My text messages no longer go through.  Once and awhile I can get them to go through and then they're locked out again.  I've tried all of the tricks people have mentioned on this board - sometimes they work; sometimes they don't. Nothing is consistent.  Nothing seems to REALLY fix it.
My phone is turning off even when I DO still have quite a bit of battery left.
My phone will be sitting right in front of me, will NOT ring, and I'll pick it up later only to see that I've "missed" 3 calls!
I've been quite fed up with a phone that I USED to love and I've been quite fed up with Verizon!
SOMETHING has changed in the past several months and I wish SOMEONE would tell us what it is!
I contacted Verizon over the weekend and asked what could be done since I'm not eligible to upgrade until December.  Based on everything I've read on this board, I wasn't interested in getting a replacement phone of the same type and I need a phone that works.  I simply wanted them to waive my upgrade constraint so I could get a reliable phone. ONE representative tried to help me but our call was mysteriously cut off!  He didn't call ME back and when I tried to call back in, I wasn't able to reconnect with him.  The next rep I got was the typical drone that only knew how to follow the standard script and had me take my SIM card in and out to make sure it was installed properly (GIVE ME A BREAK!) etc., etc.!  Once I successfully proved that I was not a Tier 1 bloody idiot, I had the pleasure of waiting two hours to be connected to Tier 2 support. (Thankfully after being hold for about 45 minutes, the rep offered to call me back and actually did once he reached Tier 2 support).  Both reps acted as if they'd NEVER HEARD of these issues before but after stating THAT, surprisingly, the Tier 2 rep, was THEN able to tell me whether customers WERE or WERE NOT satisfied after receiving replacement phones.
Anyway - it looked like my only option was to agree to a replacement phone and their scary letter about how if I return MY phone it is is deemed "damaged" that I may be charged up to $500!  Well, now that I look at it, the replacement phone has the same software version on it that MINE does so HOW IS IT GOING TO BE ANY BETTER THAN MINE IS?!
I am so disgusted.  Verizon can break our phones but feels absolutely NO RESPONSIBILITY to FIX them and then treats US like we're at FAULT!  All I want is a phone that works!  I NEED a phone that works.  And with the prices we're all paying, it is certainly a REASONABLE request!

    Andrea -
Thank you.  I do appreciate your response.  I was hesitant to bother but I
did activate the replacement phone and I will admit that SO FAR (about 4
days) that it is functioning OK.  I have it set to NOT do any updates. The
NEED to do that bothers me a bit but that may be the only way to "survive"
the situation.  I am still having problems with spotty reception is some
locations, but at least it isn't telling me that I have no service.  The
battery has been back to full functionality and I'm able to send and
    receive texts again.
I'm still angry that this type of thing can happen and that Verizon makes
no concessions, but I do appreciate the replacement phone and hope that it
    keeps working.
    Thanks again for your response.

  • Problem Editing/Deleting the Photos uploaded via iTunes

I uploaded some photos via iTunes to my iPad as well as my iPhone. I wanted to take advantage of the photo edito, the devices will not allow me to edit the original photo uploaded photo file. It is asking I do "Duplicate and edit" which will leave me with 2 photos of the picture (one edited and other original one) on the device! I can't delete the original photo from my iPad/iPhone using either devices. Only way I can get rid of it is by syncing it via iTunes. any suggestions?

That is how it works with photos placed on the phone via iTunes sync -- to remove them you sync again using the instructions in Sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support
Another option you may want to consider to move photos from a computer to an iPhone or iPad (if you don't want to use iCloud Photo Library) is a 3rd app such as http://www.photosync-app.com/

  • Address Book images not syncing via .Mac sync

i recently decided to get serious about attaching images to my contacts in address book. the images sync perfectly with the iphone, but they dont sync at all between the other copies of address book on the various macs in my home. the addresses (text) sync just fine -- but not the images.
    what am i missing, here?

I had the same problem. My Mac's address book (including images) were synced via Missing Sync from my Windows Mobile phone. None of the images transferred to the iPhone. I then went into each Address Book entry and manually resized the image (edit, dc on the image and drag the slider to resize the image) and then resynced. Now all is perfect!
One side note- if you assign a contact image on the Mac or PC and sync to the phone, the image is shown in a small thumbnail on the top line of the phone when that person calls, etc... If instead you assign a photo on the iPhone itself using the "select current photo" option, then the photo is shown full screen instead of thumbnail! I copied all of my "CallerID" photos to an iPhoto photo album, synced that album to the phone, then manually assigned a photo to a contact on the phone and now they are full screen. Very cool!

  • Basic mobile phone features missing

I miss on my iPhone the following basic features you find almost on many other mobile phones from other manufacturers:
    - ability to send/receive complete contact list or members of my contact list to other phones via SMS or Bluetooth
    - ability to send/receive calendar appointments via Bluetooth or SMS
    - Bluetooth file transfer
    - video recording
    - send notes via SMS or Bluetooth
    - real Bluetooth support when it comes to the communication with an advanced car kit (transfer of the agenda, antenna and battery indicator, permanent contact with the car kit)
    - add new ringtones (not only via iTunes)
    - create ringtones from own music (and not only from the one purchased via iTunes)
Will we ever see such features on the iPhone? If yes, when?

I'm pretty sure there's a workaround that allows you to make ringtones from any audio file, (of the right length and format), it's not that longwinded either. Involves using garageband.
There is also an app that'll do it for you.
If I remember what it is I'll post back.

  • IPOD CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS XP VIA USB 2.0

    Enough is enough.
I have an ipod touch and I am having difficulty connecting it to my pc via usb 2.0.
I have searched the entire web and came across many cases similar or the same as mine. It's time for apple to face the fact that there is something wrong with either the apple mobile service or the apple usb drivers or the itunes software that causes connectivity problems with win xp.
For the record my case is this:
I got my itouch 3 days ago. I installed itunes 8.0. Then I plugged in my ipod to a usb extension cable port connected to a usb at the back of my desktop computer. At first I got the "this usb device can perform faster if you plug it to a usb 2.0 port etc." message. So I did. I removed the extension cable and connected it directly to one of the usb ports at the back. The first time it synchronized, it seemed fine. So I decided before I do anything with it, to update it to the 2.1 version. I made my account and bought (very bad policy there apple, it should be free or at least cheeper than 8 euro) the 2.1 update. I clicked to update the i-touch. While it was updating it crashed during the restore process (because it was disconnected but I didn't know that at the time). I unplugged it, resetted and plugged it back and managed to continue the restoring process until it was updated. After figuring out itunes I chose the "manage files manually option", kept everything unchecked in the sync options except the applications. I noticed there were random disconnections here and there but I didn't pay much attention because they weren't very frequent.
The next day I plug in the touch again and suddenly I hear that annoying "connecting-disconnecting" sound from windows while my touch kept disappearing and reappearing in itunes. Suddenly my playlists disappeared from the touch. Nothing was in the touch any more. How could that happen since i had chosen to manage my files manually instead of synchronizing? So I unplugged the touch again, restarted the touch, restarted the pc, stopped and restarted the apple mobile service, unistalled and reinstalled itunes, searched microsoft support and read many usb troubleshooting documents in the web. Nothing happened. The touch randomly keeps disconnecting from the usb. I eventually managed to put my stuff back in and keep them there.
    Here's what I know:
    1) There is nothing wrong with my usb ports. I don't use usb hubs, they are usb 2.0, the voltage (500mA) is correct in the device manager. Everything else works fine there.
    2) The ipod touch does not support disk mode so you can't see it under "my computer" and this is not a problem.
3)There is nothing wrong with the ipod, it works perfectly.
    4) This is not a usb cable physical problem.
    5) The five R's are irrelevant with this situation.
Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes doesn't solve the problem, neither does hard resetting the ipod.
    6) Older PC configurations seem to be more affected by this but it doesn't have to do with unsupported specific chipsets.
    Here's what needs investigating:
    1) There may be a problem with the apple mobile service running on win XP.
    2) There may be a problem with the apple usb driver and win XP or older motherboards.
    3) There may be a 2.1 firmware issue with usb 2.0 connectivity.
Workaround so you don't go nuts:
Use USB 1.1 instead of 2.0. It is A LOT slower but it keeps the connection stable and you can work with the ipod. Just start copying and go do something else for the next hour. So far it works for me.
This is a serious issue that needs immediate attention. I've stumbled across forum discussions dating to 2005 with this problem (with older ipods of course).

I think this needs to be put down to the eternal PC/Mac argument. Apple dont want to fix this as they want everyone to buy a Mac. Its a business, understandable, but in turning away PC buyers they alienate a huge percentage of the market.
Now, I had my first iTouch stolen. It synced, for the most part, very well, just occasionally it removed settings and music, but ticking boxes each time I sync'd sorted that, Its a workflow procedure.
SO, now that my Touch has been replaced, iTunes cannot see it. The PC can identify it on USB1 or USB2, My work lap top can see it and has indeed upgraded it to V2 software, just in case that was the issue, but no. For some really weird reason Itunes on my desktop cannot see the new pod.
This does not make sense with the argument that Apple software doesnt work on a PC, but doesnt help that none of the Apple support staff, phone or in-store have a clue about Windows operations.
Because my Touch has now been trying to connect to 6 separate installs of itunes, multiple USB ports, multiple USB cables, a complete overhaul of the registry settings (everything else still works), and the loss of all my previous settings and backups from the last Touch... but still, the PC says its an ipod but cant install it, iTunes sits there, dumb.
The only thing I can do now is sell the device as brand new as it has never had music on it and is just a week old...
It has changed the MiniMac I was going to have for my new flat screen TV into a PC and suggests that anyone with a PC should stick to devices that run on PC, of which there are many, just without the user interface of the dear departed IPod Touch.
    Thanks

i have recently purchased the highest storage but was unable to backup my phone via icloud, the button on my iphone to backup on icloud is grey out, anyone knows how to resolve the problem?  What's the point of purchasing the biggest storage?

First check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (settings > wifi)
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for back up in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

When connecting ipad to my iPhones personal hotspot via wifi it is showin up as 2 connections when only 1 device is connected. Is someone hacking my phone? I only figured out I had a problem when my partner did the exact same set up and it showed up as only 1 device connected. I have changed the password and turned it off/on and etc. the really weird thing is now when my ipad is turned off and I turn my iphone personal hotspot on it shows up with 1 connection (when I don't have anything connected) for about 5 secs and then goes off and then 1 device connected for about 5 secs and then back off. This just keeps going on and off. What is going on. Could my phone have a bug or be hacked. Please help as it is kinda freaking me out. Thanks.

    Hello asrt17,
This may occur if your iPhone is connected to your computer via USB, as it will automatically share the connection via USB.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Personal Hotspot
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
When Personal Hotspot is enabled, your iOS device automatically shares your Internet connection with your computer when connected using USB.
Example: When you connect iPhone to your computer to charge or sync with iTunes. To avoid unnecessary data charges, turn off Personal Hotspot when not in use.
    Cheers,
    Allen
