  • Would this connection scenario work for sharing a printer?

I work from home and my HP LaserJet is on it's last leg. My office computer is a an old Dell Optiplex - no wireless capabilities and my computer locks the PC down quite well so even installing a USB dongle would be out of the question. Hence my question.
I was thinking of buying the Airport Extreme plugging my Samsung SCX-4500 into the Airport. The Airport would be plugged into my DSL router which the office PC is also. Would I be able to use the Samsung from the PC even though the PC is not wireless?
I know my iMac would be able to get to it but I don't want to spend the money for the Airport as my HG2700-D has wireless built in.

Would I be able to use the Samsung from the PC even though the PC is not wireless?
Yes a scenario like that is possible as long as you configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) so that it acts as a bridge or the PC is connected to one of the AEBS's LAN ports.

  • IPad Web App full screen mode Network Connectivity Retry Option

    Hi,
I have developed a web application in HTML5 for iPad (full screen mode). Now I am testing the application on iPad for connectivity scenario i.e. to see how the app behaves when the connectivity is lost and then resumed after some time.
    Steps -
Launch the web application in full screen mode from home screen (connected to a wifi network).
Click on any button to submit the form and at the same time turn off external wifi modem.
A pop-up message appears with the options to close or retry.
Now turn on the modem and click on retry.
The expectation is that on clicking retry the data in the web form should be sent to the web server, but instead of POST request, a GET request is being sent. Because of this, the data filled in the form is lost as the page is simply refreshed.
Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue.
    Thanks

This is more of a feature of the browser already.
With iOS6, Mobile Safari on the iPhone introduced full-screen browsing support in landscape mode.
    http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57513848-285/how-to-use-safaris-full-screen-mode-on-io s-6/
One isn't able to take advantage of this feature in portrait mode though. However, the meta tag you're referring to in order to hide Safari UI Components requires the webapp to be added to the Homescreen; then when you launch the site through the icon on the Homescreen, you would find the UI components hidden.
Also, the latest version of Chrome for iOS released a couple of days ago includes the ability to view pages in fullscreen as well (for both landscape and portrait modes) with scrolling gestures enabling the hiding and showing of the omnibox and toolbar while navigating down a page.

  • Error Message: The data provider required to connect to the local data file could not be found. The file will be added to the project but the typed DataSet associated with the file will ont be generated.

I am currently taking the course "C# Fundamentals" from Bob Tabors site:  LearnVisualStudio.NET .  I'm on day 8 where we are integrating SQL Server with C#.  In Lesson 6 and 7, (havent' gotten past these two) I am having an
issue.  In Lesson 6, "Retrieving Data with ADONET 2 in a Connected Scenario (SQL Server Compact Edition) when I go to create the data file I get the error message I typed into the title.  I cannot get the db to appear in the Solution
Explorer, or open up so I can create a table.  When I try to skip by that lesson, and complete lesson7, I'm running into the same basic problem, where the error messages are different but I get an exception when I attempt to run the program.  Even
though I have been able to create the table for this lesson, the Exception states I have an invalid object name 'Customers' which is the name of the table. I have tried reading several different suggestions for correcting this issue, but have not understood
exactly what I need to do.  Since I work from home on my computer, I do not want to do anything with files or downloads unless I understand what I need to do, cause I do not want to lose my job.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi
According to your error message, we need to verify if Microsoft SQL Server Compact appears in the
Change Data Source dialog. If not, you need to install
SQL Server Compact components for Visual Studio firstly, and if you choose to install SQL Server Compact 4.0 , you should note that SQL Server Compact 4.0 supports in Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 or later versions. I recommend you to install the latest
Service Pack (SP) of SQL Server Compact, and latest SP of Visual Studio, then check if the error still occurs. For more information, see:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlservercompact/archive/2011/03/15/sql-server-compact-4-0-tooling-support-in-visual-studio-2010-sp1-and-visual-web-developer-express-2010-sp1.aspx
However if there is no problem with the installation of SQL Server Compact, it will be an issue that regards ASP.NET and website deployment. I suggest you to post the question in the ASP.NET forums at
http://forums.asp.net/ . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

  • Linksys WAP54G connecting to CISCO ACS via LEAP

I understand that Linksys WAP54G support WPA and 802.1x authentication. Will a cisco compatible client card get connected to the WAP54G via LEAP authentication to a Cisco ACS server ?
    Connection scenario:-
    Cisco compatible client card <-WPA/LEAP-> WAP54G <-WPA/LEAP-> Cisco ACS3.1
Pls advise if such setting is feasible.
    Tks

This is really a question for Linksys support. The Cisco wireless BU has no involvement with the Linksy's product line. They operate as a totally separate wholly own subsidiary of Cisco.
As for LEAP, no, to my knowledge the Linksys AP does not support LEAP, which is not tested or part of the WPA certification program. To my knowledge the ONLY APs that support LEAP are Cisco Aironet APs.
If the Linksys supports WPA-Enterprise, then any client that supports WPA-Enterprise should work using EAP-TLS. The Cisco ACS server supports EAP-TLS.
    One word of caution. Early CCX cards do not necessarily support WPA. The CCX specification and certification were out before WPA was released. You will need to check with the actual vendor of the card to verify WPA compatibility.;
Also there are two types of WPA. WPA-Personal, which supports only the WPA encryption, and the keys are handles by a Pre-shared Key input system (no radius server) and WPA-Enterprise, which is certified using WPA encryption an 802.1x EAP-TLS radius server (in fact using Microsoft and Funk Software servers). make sure that the Linksys supports WPA-enterprise, or it may not support 802.1x.

  • OSB call to remote Web Service via https proxy and https CONNECT problem

    Hi
I have a service that calls a web service on another server as a web service. This call is via https and the certificate validation raises no errors.
I now want this call to go via a squid httpd proxy on port 3128 on some machine. So I would like to use HTTP CONNECT (RFC 2817) proxying,. But when I set up this as a proxy, I am getting "Certificate chain" error messages. The certifcate chains is no different now from when I called without the http proxy, so what am I doing wrong? Does OSB support HTTP CONNECT?
    -Johan

The exeption we are getting is BEA-380000
General runtime error: [Security:090477]Certificate chain received from XXX - 123.123.123.123 --> test.salesforce.com was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure.
This is of course not relevant if the callout were using CONNECT. In the CONNECT scenario, OSB would not care about XXX's certificate.

  • DB2 Connectivity Trough ADO Objects in Adobe Form Designer

    Hi,
    We are using
    Adobe Workflow Server 6.2 and
Adobe Form Designer 5 to develop forms. In forms we have to display some information retrieved from IBM's DB2 database at two different stages. First at the beginning of the process, for which we have scripts in the process which are working fine. Second at run time, i.e., the user will enter ID of an employee and we have to retrieve the corresponding information of that employee. For that we are using ADO objects, provided in the form designer.
The problem that we are facing is that these forms uses ActiveX controls and they are executed on the client's PC. At run time when we try to access the DB2 database we get an ODBC error:
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified, because the DSN is on the server not on the client's PC. The forms are working fine on those PC that have DB2 client installed on them.
We want that ADO object to be executed on the server not on the client's PC. Is there any way or doing so? Or is there any other solution?
Please let me know asap as I have been facing this problem for many days.
    Thanks.
    --Khan.

    Khan--
Your best bet in my opinion would be to drop the use of the Adobe ADO Object and switch to one of the following db connectivity scenarios.
    - MS Remote \ RDS; has some MS security draw backs but allows remote access to a db from a single DSN.
"+" : Much faster to deliver
"-" : Have to work around MS server \ browser security issues
    - Custom solution using xml DOM \ SOAP calls to pass your data requirements to an ASP \ ASP.NET component. This component would be used to execute the sql statement read from xml package then return that result back to the form.
"+" : Increase in performance due to server side execution, very little MS Security implications
"-" : Not a quick solution to build as it involves many different components to function
    Hope this helps somewhat...

  • Probelm with rmi code in IE while connected with internet

    hello all!
we are preparing a chat application which transfers the image in the canvas to remote m/c in local network, which in turn, should run in internet as well.
when we are running it with appletviewer it works perfectly fine.
when we run it in internet connected scenario we are getting an exception named ::::
    java.net.AccessControlException java.net.SocketPermission 192.168.0.1:1032 connect,resolve.
we have edited out java.policy file and given permission to the same ip address for the same port.
    but still the problem persists.
    please help.

    thanks for the reply!!
well! we are using the java plug-in.
the scenario is something like this:
we had in our system jdk1.2.1 initially,
in our application we have one applet containing ony a button "Start Chat"...
Upon pressing the button user will be given a frame with all the awt components like buttons, textfields and canvas.
when we tried this in appletviewer in local network we succeeded.
but when we tried in browser ie 5.0, we got an applet but from that we could not get frame.
    so we installed ie 6.0
it could server out purpose but when we were trying on internet it gives an error while connecting to the server like :
    java.net.AccessControlException java.net.SocketPermission (192.168.0.1:1032) connect,resolve
later we ran it again, after a day we found an another error like:
    com.ms.security.SecurityExceptionEx (classname.methodname) can't connect 192.168.0.1.....
so please help in this situation.

  • Communication component in Direct Connection

    Hi all,
We were configuring a direct connection scenario between ECC and SRM (both SAP systems) using the following links :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/45/64cc5c1a8e1b24e10000000a155369/frameset.htm
    /people/william.li/blog/2008/02/13/point-to-point-connection-using-abap-in-sap-using-pi-71
Both the links refer to a "Logon Data" tab where certain settings have to be set. However, in the communication component (Business system) in ID, we can't find any "Logon Data" tab.
Is there any seperate setting required for this or can anyone suggest where we might be going wrong.
    Regards

However, in the communication component (Business system) in ID, we can't find any "Logon Data" tab.
Did you do all the settings as mentioned in the document:

  • Deployment connection problems

I attempting to deploy a java class from Jdeveloper 3.1.1.2 into an Oracle 8.1.6 server on Solaris. My Tnsnames entry works for sqlplus from the PC.
I am geeting the following errors when I test the connection:
    scenario 1:
    Thin JDBC
    existing TNS names
    IO exception: so Exception generated
    scenario 2:
    Oracle JDBC OCI-8
    existing TNS Names
no ocijdbc in java library path
Why does the thin JDBC not work?
What libaray do I need to include to make OCI work?
Where do I update the java path for the connection?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Try selecting an Oracle Home at the bottom on the Envirnment Tab to the IDE Options dialogue (Tools->IDE Options). - this may solve the lookup on the tnsnames.ora file.
For the no ocijdbc in javba library path:
    - shutdown jdeveloper
    - find and edit %JDEV_HOME%\bin\jdeveloper.ini
    - locate the entries:
    JLP=-Djava.library.path=.;%JAVA_ROOT%\bin;%JAVA_ROOT%\jre\bin
    SLP=-Dsun.boot.library.path=.;%JAVA_ROOT%\bin;%JAVA_ROOT%\jre\bin
and add to the end of both lines the location of the Oracle Home bin directory:
    e.g.
    JLP=-Djava.library.path=.;%JAVA_ROOT%\bin;%JAVA_ROOT%\jre\bin;D:\ORA8i\BIN
    SLP=-Dsun.boot.library.path=.;%JAVA_ROOT%\bin;%JAVA_ROOT%\jre\bin;D:\ORA8i\BIN
For thin connections I usually use 'Named Host' and enter the Node , Port and SID manually.

  • Experience on Unicode-BW connected with MDMP R/3

    Hello,
we plan to migrate our BW 3.5 to Unicode. Currently we have one MDMP R/3 system connected to it. We do not plan to migrate the MDMP system to unicode.
We know how to proceed in such a project but we are interested in other customer's experience on the outcome of such a Unciode migration project with the aforementioned system connection scenario.
To be precise, we are interested in the following questions...
    - Does anybody of you have experience on the problems that arise after the BW migration to Unicode?
    - How smooth worked the data transfer between the Unicode-BW and the MDMP R/3 after the migration?
    - How high was the effort of the migration / adaptation of DataSources / adaptation of ABAP source code (related to the size of the BW and the R/3 source system)?
    - Were efforts underestimated?
    - Was the project cancelled and replaced by the decision to also migrate the MDMP R/3 to Unicode?
Many thanks to any answers in advance!
    Best regards,
    Philipp

    Hi Lorine,
nice to know, that we are not "alone" with this scenario
And thanks for your tip with that permitted characters setting.
You said, you haven't had many issues. What about special characters (that is non-7-bit-US-ASCII characters) in key values? We are facing the problem, that there are a few keys from our R/3 (e. g. a customer number with a spanish "N") which are not pure ASCII. This brings us to the question, if we should also enhance all attribute and transactional data sources with a LANGU field (besides the text data sources). But this is huge effort and we cannot 100% assure that there will be the "correct" language key derived in the customer exit coding. We are afraid of the fact, that wrong conversions during data extraction will change the key values to new ones (e. g. some characters are replaced by others or by the # sign) and this will break consistency in our warehouse.
Did you encounter such a problem, too?
    Kind regards,
    Philipp

    Hi,
Based on the log, I recommend you use the following way to test SQL connectivity.
You can use a UDL file to test various connectivity scenarios, create a simple text file, rename the extension from TXT to UDL, fill out the necessary information on the connection tab then test the connection, and troubleshoot as necessary
    if it fails to connect.
For more information, please review the link below:
