Connection Setup Help For N97 :(

Hi guys,
Had the N97 since its release, had no problems with it really just the odd issue now and again.
But for a few days now the phone just wont stay connected to the net to satisfy the Widgets & Email retrieval, when using facebook i will be given 6-7 script errors before it updates enough to display anything. the weather widget just refuses to find my location a OVI will not upload any more and now i am getting a connection error popup maybe 4-5 times when i return to homepage.
I had the settings in a simple set-up that has worked for weeks but now these problems have made me factory reset the thing, now this worked for a day, no problems or issues plus it was super fast but today it has reverted to being non functional
Does anyone know of a working set-up for heavy use ? after the reset i am now without any settings in either WAP or Email sections just the access points i created in internet
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi Matt,
My current firmware is vodafone V12.0.026, have deleted all widgets and re downloaded them from the store & updater as suggested and found that the weather widget connected ASAP using GPS & 3.5G and has been working good, facebook and the other are holding fine, software updater is saying all i have to download is nokia messaging which i am avoiding due to problems i had with it.
Everything seems to be working well atm.

  • A newbie cry for connection/setup help

Hello people... my first post, so greetings all (and forgive the length of this content; I figure more info is better than not enough).
I'm located in an out-of-the-way area without much available support so I am being required to learn to install and manage a network/server setup myself, despite my relatively novice experience in those areas. Looking forward to bothering you as little as possible (through research and the Mac's "relative" ease-of-use), but hope for your assistance when it is mandatory. As it seems to be at the moment...
    Current situation:
    • Temporarily using an "AirPort" Express (I'm in Japan) for access (using DHCP, so acting as bridge?) to the Net via cable modem.
    • Have this here MacBook Pro (Intel Core Duo) and 3 G4s (APG) all connected over the wireless network w/o trouble and all running 10.4.9.
    Trying to accomplish:
    1. I have been issued static IP addresses by my provider and would "like" to setup an AEBSt (Extreme) as the gateway router,
    2. move the Express to another room for relay/roaming purposes,
    3. setup one of the G4s as a domain/mail/ftp server, and
    4. ultimately connect a printer, etc., to the AEBSt via Ethernet/USB and a hub.
Taking one problem at a time, following the manual and AirPort Utility, etc., I believe I "basically" setup the AEBSt correctly; the wireless LAN network is visible and connectable w/o any trouble, but, naturally, I'm unable to connect to the Net -- neither Web nor mail works.
Maybe I shouldn't be guessing, but I "think" the problem is in relation to the router/gateway address(es). Of course, I'd also like to/should verify my other settings at the same time for whomsoever might have time to look at this matter for me. so:
Settings I have made in the Extreme:
    • Airport
    - Base Station tab
    . Standard info/PW entered
. Allow configuration over Ethernet WAN port: OFF
    - Wireless tab
    . Wireless Security: WAP/WPA2 Personal
    - Access control tab
. MAC Address Access Control: Not Enabled (though I may try using this, once everything is up and running)
    • Internet
    - Internet Connection tab
    . Connect Using: Ethernet
    . Configure Ipv4: Manually
Here is where I "think" the problem may be. When I enter the LAN and WAN side router IP addresses respectively in the IP Address and Router Address fields, I get a message that says the router address is not "compatible" with the WAN IP address. This led me at first to believe that the "IP Address" field is the WAN side, and the "Router Address" field for the LAN side IP. Same message though. So... I guess I need WAN or LAN side info only in this window...(?)
While entering either of these sets of addresses then allows me to continue and update the AEBSt, the Internet connection still doesn't work. I thought that a router requires both the LAN side as well as the WAN side info to be entered... may I simply be entering the wrong IP addresses in the wrong place...???? Presently, I have the WAN side IP/Mask and router info registered.
    * Interestingly, the info for this AEBSt that appears whenever a new browser window is opened shows the IP Address as the default: 10.0.1.1. Open the actual configuration, though, and the IP address that shows up in the Summary and the Internet Connection tabs are the same. i.e., what I registered... Is the default the LAN side IP then? How, or can I, change that to fit the addresses I was allotted for the LAN side...???
    - DHCP tab
. Selected 10.0.1.x for the range.
. Beginning as 2 and ending at 200.
    . Lease at 4 hours.
. Blank LDAP server, and I added 2 reservations, one for the would-be server (10.0.1.2) and the other for a printer (10.0.1.10).
    * I'm presuming that I only have the "need" to use a static IP address for the AEBSt (as entered in the "Internet Connection tab"), and the server and any other printers, etc. (reserved here); the other computers could continue receiving addresses via DHCP from the AEBSt as at present (though the correct domain IP to register for the sever would then be another issue for later... i.e., is it the IP address for the AEBSt)...??
    - NAT tab (for installing the domain server)
. Enable default host at: OFF
. Enable NAT Port Mapping: ON and Selected FTP/Web Sharing/POP Mail with SSL
    • Advanced
    - Logging & SNMP and Bonjour tabs (left alone)
    - IPv6 tab
    . IPv6 Mode: Tunnel
. Block incoming IPv6 connections: ON
    . Configure IPv6: Automatically
Then, using my MacBook Pro to test, and setting TCP/IP for the AirPort card to "Using DHCP", I'm being allotted 10.0.1.2 (even though that's supposedly reserved for the server), a mask of ...2555.0 and the router as that 10.0.1.1 (the default for the AEBSt).
    * These, BTW, are the same settings that are working in the current Express setup.
That's it folk... I understand the logistics of remote diagnostics, but if anyone has an ideas... or needs more info... THANKS in advance!

Duane, thank you for your response (and sorry about the long, difficult-to-clarify post).
The main problem is actually that I simply can't connect to the Net through the AEBS (Web or mail -- I'm using a POP and SMTP server in the US for testing purposes).
I did what you noted and eliminated the DHCP reservations for 10.0.1.2 and 10.0.1.10 (and will issue static IPs for the server and printer, etc., that are outside the AEBS's set range when I end up actually setting up those devices), however in order to test the Internet connection first, I actually have only this MacBook Pro "on"/online. So there should be no address interference problem in that regard at the moment, right?
As I noted, the LAN network runs fine and I get 10.0.1.2 for this computer's IP (did a quick temp connection of another computer and it received 10.0.1.3, so the DHCP distribution seems to be working fine as well). Just get no response at all with the Web browser and email app.
Am I correct in presuming the 10.0.1.1 IP that shows as the default for the AEBS is the LAN side info and the IP and router parameter's I set in the Configure Ipv4 fields is for the WAN side? If so, then the settings all appear fine, and I even did the 'ol leave the cable-modem off all night and restart JIC, but to no avail.
From my perspective, the only thing I can see that is different setting-wise is that I was given static a IP address for my LAN side of the router as well, and that naturally differs from the default 10.0.1.1 in the AEBS. I can't find any way to change that IP address though...

  • Setup Help for 2 Wireless and 1 Wired Router!

    Hello,
I hope this is the appropriate forum for this request.  I am helping a neighbor who has just come out of the hospital.  Since he will be homebound for quite sometime, he needs to enhance his home network.  I offered my help and now I am looking for some assistance.  :-)
Currently he has DSL which goes from his DSL modem into Linksys WRTG54G v2 router in a basement.  The wireless signal does not travel very far.  Fortunately there are 3 ethernet jacks that are present.  Two of those jacks run to an office on the first floor, the third runs to the office on the second floor.
Additional equipment we have are a Linksys BEFSR41 v2 wired router and another WRTG54G v6 wireless router.  On the 1st floor there are 3 devices which need to be connected (a PC, a Mac and an HP printer) and the second floor is where he will be roaming with the laptop.
Given this, my guess the best setup would be:
Basement the wired router running to the three ethernet ports (2 on the first floor, the third on the second floor).
On the First floor, use on of the ethernet extensions to connect the wireless router.  Then from the router ports, connect to the 3 devices (PC, Mac, HP printer) via ethernet.  This will also send out a wireless signal if a wireless device (laptop) in the vicinity.
Then on the second floor, plug the other wireless router into the ethernet port and have it emit the wireless signal.
I should note that the second floor is really the only floor which is essential to have the wireless signal
    So my questions are this:
1a)Could the above scenario actually work?
1b)Is there are a better setup then what I thought
2a)I imagine that I will need to change the IP for two of the devices from 192.168.1.1 to something like 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.3.1, correct?
2b)In addition I will need to disable DHCP on 2 of the 3 routers, but which one?  I imagine that one on the second floor?
    3) What else do I need to do?
    Thanks in advance!

yes , you can certainly use that kind of a set up...
BEFSR41 in the basement......if you are configuring the wireless router on the first floor for an ethernet to ethernet connection , the ip add on it should be 192.168.1.2 and disable the dhcp....if you go for an ethernet to internet connection then the ip address of the wireless router should be 192.168.2.1....no need to disable the dhcp....
similarly configure the wireless router on the 2nd floor...if an ethernet to ethernet connection then ip add - 192.168.1.3 and dhcp is disabled....and if ethernet to internet connection , then ip add 192.168.3.1....
make the wireless settings unique for each router and so that ensure whether you are connecting to the 1st router or the 2nd router.....

It's not necessary, but is a good troubleshooting step.  How to do so varies from brand to brand.  Look at the manufacturers website, they should have a manual available that explains how to access the settings and change it.

In that case, I would strongly encourage you to connect them via a short Ethernet cable.  The proximity of the two devices could be the culprit in the video quality issues.

  • Hard Drive Setup help for Graphic Designer

First, let me say that I know a lot about a little, but very little about a lot and will appreciate any advice or corrections given.
I have FINALLY upgraded my old G4/2GB/350GB with a 250MB external to a MP3/4GB/250/500 and I can't wait to get to work on it. However, after reading many, many posts, I want to make sure I set things set up right for me before I load her up. So, I'm thinking about adding an additional 500HD and doing a mirrored RAID for my data files, run the OS and applications off of my 250 (and maybe later partition it for Vista, too - or should I plan ahead and do that now?) and I will of course be using at least one external drive (maybe 2 to switch out) for an additional backup. I already own Retrospect so will probably stick with that unless someone gives a good reason to change (although it has been giving me errors which is probably why I should switch).
Currently, my G4 is set up with 4 partitions, 1 of which is for my OS and another for my PS scratch (50GBs for it). My files are often quite large these days (which has totally taxed my system and productivity) so I need to make sure I set this new system up to anticipate ever increasing file sizes and working with more RAW image files.
On the new system, I'll be primarily using the CS3 design suite and Lightroom, and I have ever growing i-Tunes and photo libraries.
So...what would be a good breakdown for partitioning the 500 and leave ample scratch disk space? Currently, I have 35GBs of active client files I keep on my HD, 30 GBs of photos, and 10GBs in the i-Tunes library. I obviously am not using all my disk space (but I've also been archiving and/or deleting a lot of files lately in anticipation of this upgrade). And, I probably won't even come close to filling a 500, but want to make sure the room is there should I need it.
And, just to make sure I understand things, I assume the mirrored drive would have the same partition set up? And the externals the same, too? Anything special I need to know about that?
Should my applications and games always be on the first drive with the OS?
Anything else to consider? Thanks again for your comments.

Thanks, Hatter. I've been reading way too much, so I'm not so sure what to do now. I have more questions, so appreciate your patience.
Today I read your posts with Badlydrawnboy because of the photography issues, which got me to thinking more about all this. Say I dump the Vista idea for now and maybe put it on a small external later. Backup is still extremely important to me, so for the other 2 currently empty drives, would it make sense to mirror the $99 Maxtors you guys were discussing for my data and backup? Then my 500 could maybe be my PS and Bridge scratch? Which bays would these all go in? I know the options are probably endless, but I don't want to make this more difficult than it should be and need to get up and running as quickly as possible.

  • Can I create a custom setup test for Adobe Connect Pro?

I was wondering if there was a way to create a custom setup test for Adobe Connect Pro?  We are using Adobe Connect to teach some web courses and we need them to complete the Adobe Connect test as well as some other software setup tests.  Due to the fact that we are using a company wide account for Adobe Connect the "Send Results" button on the setup test doesn't reach me (I am the one in charge of making sure all students have taken all the setup tests).  Typically we have them take a test and then return back to the main 'test' page where they select whether or not the test worked.
In the end I figure I have two options:
    1. Change the test so that it emails the responses to the email of my choice, i.e. a custom version of the setup test. (Not sure if this is possible as we use a company account)
    2. Completely remove the "Send Results" button from setup test and just rely on the student manually entering whether the test worked or not.
    Please help!

The timecode effect can only show whole frames so there is not a setting for 23.97. I'm not at my editor at the moment, is there an option for 'drop frame' in the timecode settings, this is how timecode is displayed for non whole number frame rates.

    Hello, BAHannebaum.
The article below should resolve any device not being recognized in iTunes issue that you are experiencing.  The most common issues are the Apple Mobile Device Support driver or iTunes is outdated.  Start with the first step and test the results after each step processed.

Thank you both for your responses but my daughter was reassured by the salesman in the iStyle store (official Apple store in the UAE) that iMessages would work but conceded that FaceTime wouldn't. My iTunes account is registered in the uk and my daughter's iPhone has iMessages even though she bought it (and uses it) in Dubai. Can anyone else throw any light on this?

Sounds like you have corrupt backup data, if this occurs from one phone to another. Try restoring the phone as a new device, without a backup. Try using for a day before installing any other apps, etc. See if that improves the battery life. Then try syncing back applications a couple at a time. Something seems to be locking in the processor which is draining the battery.
Do you live in an area where there are Apple Stores? If so, try making an appointment with the Genius Bar to have the device checked out.

  • Unable to Connect, ORA 12154, Setup routine for Microsoft ODBC errors

    Hi all,
I have a Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1 system and I wanted to be able to connect to an oracle database server. However, I am facing a problem with ODBC configuration.
I have currently installed both below in ... product\11.2.0\client_1 folder:
    1. Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
    2. 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
I launched ODBC Data Source Administrator and added a User DSN but resulted to two errors:
    1. The setup routines for the Microsoft ODBC for oracle ODBC driver could not be found. Please reintall the driver.
    2. The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the driver and application.
On top of that, if I go to System DSN tab, and tried to test the connection it give me an error:
    1. Unable to connect SQLState = 08004 [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS: Could not resolved the identifier specified.
Can someone please guide me through this? Thanks in advance!

You only need one of these (the second one should suffice).
I launched ODBC Data Source Administrator and added a User DSN but resulted to two errors:
    1. The setup routines for the Microsoft ODBC for oracle ODBC driver could not be found. Please reintall the driver."Microsoft ODBC for Oracle" is a different provider than "Oracle ODBC". Make sure you're not using the Microsoft one.
    2. The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the driver and application. This can happen if you're mixing 32-bit and 64-bit. There's two ODBC control panels in Windows 7:
    - the 64 bit one is the one in control panel
    - the 32 bit one is c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe
Since you're using a 64 bit Oracle driver, you should be using the 64 bit ODBC administrator, and 64 bit applications. If you're trying to use this ODBC connection with a 32 bit application, you'll need to use the 32 bit ODBC (and the 32 bit Oracle driver).
On top of that, if I go to System DSN tab, and tried to test the connection it give me an error:
    1. Unable to connect SQLState = 08004 [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS: Could not resolved the identifier specified.Well that actually means it's loading Oracle correctly, so that's something. You need to add an entry for the server you want to connect to into tnsnames.ora, located in the \network\admin folder inside of your Oracle client installation. Since it sounds like someone else set up the server you want to connect to, your DBA should be able to provide the information that goes into the file.
