Connection Stability

Been having connection issues for the past 3 months and been extremely bad with the recent snow and I'm sure its been related to when we have heavy rain also but I could be chasing a lost cause here.
However, My connection has remained stable for 3 days now but still shows a high number of errors, which I have previously discovered is related to signal loss. I know that I need 3 days showing for my speed to be restored.
below are my stats:

I have tried several combinations of filters, have been sent a new hub by BT to see if that was the culprate but it was the same. Have plugged stright in to the test socket with no difference. Does anyone else think the rain could be flooding cables between myself and the exchange and therefore causing problems? My father had this issue when I was living at home and he went and opened up the nearby access point to find the cables were flooded and I've searched online and seen other discussions stating this had caused problems for them.
I'd like to know the forum's thoughts on this.

as I said in a previous post connecting to the test socket directly and then posting your stats will help in that if your connection continues to drop connection then that suggests the problem is outwith your property and needs an engineer.  you can contact the mods and they may arrange an engineer visit but should the problem be on your side of the master then you will get a bill for the callout.
just try to make sure that does not happen by using test socket

  • SQL Developer vs TOAD: connection stability

I am trying to persuade a group of developers to switch from TOAD to SQL Developer. The feature set of version 1.5 is quite nice; and most of our users don't need the extra bells and whistles of TOAD. However, in side-by-side situations, it seems that TOAD gets better response times. In particular, the connection for SQL Developer sometimes seems to freeze and then come back later, while TOAD does not seem to be affected.
Our DBA thinks that the difference may be from SQL Developer using a JDBC connection while TOAD uses Oracle SQLNET. He said that switching to an LDAP server for name resolution might make the difference; but we really don't have much experience at this level of detail on the connections.
Is anyone else having a similar issue? Has anyone been able to 'equalize' the performance of the two products?
    You insights are welcome.

Our DBA thinks that the difference may be from SQL
Developer using a JDBC connection ... I think the problem ist not SQL Developer\JDBC itself but rather the Java Runtime Environment. The behavior you describe sounds like that Garbage Collector hits you. SUN trys to make the GC better in each Java version, so I suggest you update your JRE to the newest one you can get(today: 1.6.0_06 from java.sun.com).
After doing that, install "Oracle SQL Developer for Windows, with JDK already installed" to make sure that SQL Dev. use the new one. You can check the used java version within SQL Dev. at the "About" dialog (register: version)
If you are familiar with java you should play with some gc and memory settings. Details about that you find here: http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc5.0/gc_tuning_5.html

  • SQL Server Connection stability

We are currently experiencing database connection failure like:
A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process.
A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake.
Note that we have done and followed the
Trouble Shooting connectivity from msdn.com but still the issue arise.
One thing similar about these error messages was all was due to either incorrect configuration or modified configuration that causes it.
Currently the connection is perfectly stable no such error. The error only occur or happen at any moment at any time on any day with out doing anything. Maximum of 2 days the database will be perfectly stable, sometimes less than 24 hours then after that
we expect these error to rise even the memory is perfectly fine, no modification on the connection was made, Connection pool are properly disposed after usage (garbage collectors are properly used), no firewall or network configuration or settings was made
but yet we get this problem. The only fix we could do is just restart the server itself and everything will go back to normal.
Based on the Blog it was due to wrong configuration but apparently our server cannot modify the configuration on its own and we do not have any program or third party app that changes any setting or config of SQL Server and the Server itself.
    SQL Server 2005
    Windows Server 2003 R2
We want a permanent fix that would let our database server run 24/7 minimizing Server restart at least.

    Hello,
Did you connect to the SQL Server instance remotely? Which authentication method did you used, Windows or SQL authentication?
Did you review the SQL Server error log? The log should record more detail information about connection failed.

  • Low SNR, Causing Connection Stability Issues?

Hello I'm not using the HomeHub so I cant post the usual home hub image however I shall post the one from my Netgear.
Normally I get about 5.5MB downloads so the line sync's somewhere around 6000 ish? With 4-6DB line margins, at this the line stays connected for months at a time no issues. However today my noise margin has dropped to to 0-1DB causing my sync rate to go up and rendering the line very unstable. I have tried to restart the Internet multiple times hoping this would increase the noise margin and return it to being stable to no affect. Can anyone give me a hand getting it back up to between 4-6 where my line is very stable and perhaps fixing it there?
    Thanks Carl.

    Hi imjolly,
We have 1 Main socket which has  ADSL v1.0 written on the front that splits broadband and phone as soon as it enters. A BT engineer gave it us when he visited a while ago. Off this the router is connected to the broadband socket straight away with prob <5ft of cable (Standard stuff that comes with the homehub).
The phone side has a splitter and extenstions plugged into it however i did try unplugging them and just leaving the phone plugged in next to the master socket and it seemed to made no difference.
I will try dissconnecting the cable as you have sugested hopefully this will help.
    Thanks for the help.

  • A1000 Wifi connection stability issue

I just received this A1000F tablet on last Friday. The wifi connection randomly stops responding, while the notification bar show it as connected. When it occurs, router activity panel reports it as inactive. Switching wifi ON/OFF on the tablet restores the connection for a random limited time. I tried many Wifi authentication setups without sucess. My other devices as Airport Express, Acer Laptop and Sony Xperia U work flawlessy with connection staying up for days without any simmilar issue. Device has been updated to latest available upgrade (Settings > About Device > System upgrade)
    Kind regards

  • Yoga 10 wifi connection stability / loose router contact

I use my yoga 10 on several locations where the different routers are set to the same network id/password. The issue applies to all locations (ie different routers of different make).
The yoga 10 connects well to wifi when turned on (blue wifi notification), but looses connection within a minute or so (wifi notification dark gray).
The (not so) quick workaround is to
    - open settings (scroll finger from notification area) - here WLAN is green
    - Turn WLAN off (gray)
    - Turn WLAN on (green again)
    - Close quick settings
    - Wait for WiFi notofication to turn white, then blue
and browse for about a minute again - then repeat.
What makes the Yoga 10 to loose connection ?
Why does it not reconnect automatically ?
    How to fix ?
PS WiFi connection is 3-4 bars, mostly 4 (=100%)

Same problem here on yoga 8, wireless routers with same SSID and password in different locations will suddenly disconnect and appear out of range. Most times I have to forget the ssid, turn off Wlan, reboot the router then switch on wlan and set up the connection again. This is not a minor glitch and does not happen on any of my other android devices, I was hoping the 4.4.2-01-021 build would fix this but no such luck. I really like the yoga 8 design but along with other stupid basic problems I.e.google maps I'm begining to think I've brought a polished turd.

  • T430s Wifi connection stability

I got a T430s from my university but I cannot stay connected to the wifi. When its connected I have 3-4 bars. It will drop and reconnect. At this point I can't go 5 minutes without the internet dropping. It has twice so far while I was writing this post. Any suggestions are appreciated. I already updated the driver and unchecked "turn this device off to save power".
    Thanks!

  • WRT310N - Connection stability issues

I got this router last Thursday and set it up over the weekend. When it works, it's been fantastic. I have the latest firmware version running, and with that, when connected all of the PCs in my house have a 100% signal strength and excellent signal quality. The two N connections are at 130.0 Mbps and the two G connections are at 54.0 Mbps. All is good. Except that after 12 to 14 hours, the Access Point just disappears. Even the computer that connects wirelessly from about 15 feet away can't see it anymore. So far the only solution has been to reboot everything (router and all PCs). Rebooting the router doesn't help without rebooting the PCs as well. Once rebooted, everything works, and the countdown begins again. The wired portion of the router always seems to work. Any ideas?

I certainly don't claim to have the "magic bullet" that takes care of this, but I was having the same problems when I first set up my WRT310N as well.  I messed with all of the advanced wireless settings and such to no avail.  But then I was reading another post here that got me thinking.  The default DHCP lease given out by the router is good for 24 hours, and nearly every network device in my home was DHCP.  And, according to the router's status pages, their leases were all set to expire about the same time.  I was never able to verify if that was the cause of the overnight lockups, but I did the whole re-flash and re-set, and then asigned DHCP reservations to each of those devices.  This way, I could still set them up as DHCP and not have to worry about IP addresses, DNS, etc., but apparently the router deals with them differently as "normal" DHCP leases.  Whether that truly was the problem or not, I have not had my router go down since I did that nearly a week ago.  Maybe this info will help someone else as well (or maybe even Linksys).

  • Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+ WIFI connection stability issue

Same problem here but on Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+ 3G:
After a few minutes the connection is gone though the tablet shows its still there at full level. Disabling / Enabling WIFI on the tablet makes it reconnect. On the same router e.g. Lenovo Yoga 8 Wifi Edition, Samsung Galaxy S3 and S3 mini all work fine and do keep the connection. Tested with latest firmware released OTA yesterday.
Also tried the Yoga 10 HD+ on two other WLAN routers where it worked fine.
Any ideas except for buying a new router?
Moderator Note; post moved to start new thread on specific system

I'm having the very same problem. I bought a Lenovo Yoga 10 tablet about a week ago and updated it to 4.4.2 (B8000_A442_001_021_140703_WW_WIFI) yesterday and ever since then, my wifi kicks out when I'm browsing, reading emails, checking twitter etc just all of a sudden and I have to disable and re-enable my Wifi for it to work again (aprox. 5-20 minutes until I have to reconnect again). I've not changed anything in my router settings (Netgear CG3100) since the upgrade and every other computer, tablet and phones that we have in our house runs all fine, it's just the Yoga tablet where I have this issue with. I really hope an update/fix could be pushed as soon as possible since it's unbearable to use it right now and I might just have to return it to the shop in exchange for another tablet, which I don't really want (love the battery life).
Eitherway, I'd be thankful for any help/fix or responds from Lenovo.

  • Wireless connection unstable on Leopard

Hi, I just got a new iMac as part of a free upgrade because my local store could not seem to fully repair my previous iMac and I am having issues staying connected to the internet while using Leopard.
Everything usually starts off fine but it seems that if I'm on my online game for 30-45mins the internet will suddenly disconnect. When I go to the list to view my available networks they are all missing for several seconds before reappearing and the computer automatically reconnects itself to my network only to disconnect another 10-15 min later and repeats the process. I've only had this computer for a few days and have managed to keep a stable connection of several hours only 2-3 times.
Before when having initial connection set up issues there seemed to be a problem with a driver that was easily fixed when uninstalled and the computer restarted. My only theory is that the computer may be over heating causing it to loose the ability to see my router but I don't know if there is a way to improve fan efficiency while using Leopard.
    Please help me out.

    Hello Tigerhawk,
While I am not an expert on Apple Wireless, I may be able to offer you some general advice and perhaps narrow down your problem description.
From what you wrote, I deduce as follows:
    - On your old iMac, you also used wireless and never saw this issue. In other words, your current issue was introduced with the installation of your new iMac?
    - You are still using the same Access Point?
    - Your iMac is bootcamped and you first experienced the issue on the non OS-X system.
    - Later, when using OS-X, you experienced the same issue.
Just a few more questions to get things into perspective:
    - You are using 10.5.3 (I suppose). Given this is a recent update, you also saw the issue on 10.5.2?
    - If there are other people in your household, do they suffer the same issue?
    - Are you using 802.11n (Airport Extreme)?
    - What brand is your Access Point?
    - If all wireless items are Apple branded, are you using 802.11n only, or 802.11b/g?
    - Are you using encryption? If so, what type? WEP? WPA/WPA2-Personal/Enterprise?
Lately I installed Airport Extreme on my own Mac and found the connection to be sluggish and would sometimes loose connection or experience signal deterioration. While installing the base station (Airport Extreme), I pretty much went the default way with the base station in Bridge mode.
I found that giving the base station a fixed IP address (instead of the default DHCP) and also manually configuring the DNS addresses made the wireless experience a lot better. Of course, this could be an isolated incident. Before I gave my Macbook (10.5.2 at that time) to my girlfriend, I also noticed irratic connection stability. But that was on a non Apple branded Access Point, so not a fair comparison. This Macbook is in her house, so I cannot test at the moment. As another comparison, the iMac in my GF's house (latest generation May 2008) is just screaming fast using an Airport Extreme base station. I did not observe dropping of connection. The Macbook still did drop connection, even when on the Apple Base station. Wired it is very fast and she's happy with that for the moment
You can try perhaps as follows for testing purposes:
    - Remove all security from your wireless connection (open system).
    - If that improves the situation, move to WEP.
    - If that this works fine, move to WPA and observe.
    - If all of the above do not change your experience, you may try the manual configuration I mentioned earlier.
Hope this helps in any way.
    Best regards,
    Eirram

Webi seems to be very sensitive in regards to network/connectivity stability/timeouts etc
following are the circumstances that cause WIJ20002 :-
) Wireless LAN. Whenever possible try to run Webi over LAN rather than W-LAN on the client side
    2) VPN. Experience a lot of issues when trying to run Webi over a VPN connection (Home office connected to enterprise network)
    3) BO Authentication. My company uses Siteminder for SSO. Whenever Siteminder has a small hickup or not reachable when you try to save/refresh etc (a couple of seconds timeout for instance) it will return the WIJ20002

  • Flaky bluetooth connection on iPhone 4.

My iPhone 4 seems to have a flaky bluetooth connection stability.  I'm using it with a Bose headset, but had the same problem with a previous headset of the same type.
The phone pairs fine with the headset, and usually works ok. But every few days, when I power on the headset, it will not connect to the phone.  Power cycling the headset a few times does not seem to help.  Only when I turn off bluetooth on the phone, and then turn it back on again before powering on the headset will I be able to establish a connection.  Then things will be ok for a several days (with 2 uses of the headset per day - back and forth commute), until the problem recurs.  I am running iOS 4.3.5 but have not made the jump to iOS5.
Anyone else experience this problem?  And find a solution?

I used to be able to connect my iPhone 4 with my 3 yr old MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. I used my iPhone's personal hotspot more then once to access the Internet on my laptop when there was no wireless. I don't get why it wouldn't work with my new MacBook Air. That just seems silly. My laptop found my iPhone and was able to add the device, but then my iPhone wouldn't connect. Is there really no way around this??

  • Interent Connection Problems Atheros AR928x

So I got Arch installed and tried to connect to the internet. I have my /etc/rc.conf file set up as so:
    eth0="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(eth0)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
I then tired to ping google (ping -c 3 www.google.com) and it was a no go, unknown host. Know here is some more information:
    1) During boot up it hangs when it says starting network. Then it finally says failed.
    2) I ran dhcpcd and it said waiting for carrier...then after a while it said timed out.
I have a Atheros AR928x wireless card in an Asus N81vp-C1 laptop. I also tried wired connection and that was a no go as well. I went through the Configuring Network Wiki Page but nothing seems to be working. Any help at all would be much appreciated.

sudo netcfg -a;sudo netcfg *net profile name here*

    dmesg shows:
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
