Connection Timeout/Lost on C350:

Hello,
We've got a C350 installed at an ISP customer and recently, they've started to experience some major mail receiving problems with a specific domain(one of their major partners).
Connections are lost and some even get the 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address Error.
The Partner is using MS Exchange and using a WiMax connection to the ISP.
Exchange is sending mail directly and the mail is going through a PIX for Wimax customers and then going through ISP PIX before entering the C350.
SMTP Fixup turned off on both PIX.
See below, most of the time, the connection is initiated but after 20-50 minutes, the connection is lost. I've configured the timeout to 1 hour on IronPort:
22 Jun 2008 12:08:32 (GMT +0400) Message 1644287 on incoming connection (ICID 10308995) added recipient ([email protected])
22 Jun 2008 12:50:59 (GMT +0400) Incoming connection (ICID 10308995) lost.
22 Jun 2008 12:50:59 (GMT +0400) Message 1644287 aborted: Receiving aborted
Second Issue:
501 5.5.4 Invalid Address, when mails are sent from the partner to ISP client.
Can you please help me on this?
Is there a timeout settings on the PIX which could be causing this problem?
Note that the partner can send mails to anywhere else and no problem. Same for the ISP.
Thanks,
Vinesh

Hi all,
I had a similar problem with you.
My user is complaining that outgoing mail had rejected by ironport suddenly.
How can i to get the ironport best practices in the production environment especially for sending huge of outbound email?
Where is the alert and logs to prove the ironport had reject these connection?
How can I set these alert to monitor like the workqueue is full or the concurrent TCP connection is overloaded?
Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
I lost my airport connection when I was using internet and when I wanted to re-reconnect to airport it gave me connection timeout error, I changed my password on router but still doesn't work. How can i fix my problem?

    Hello there hastibahreini,
It sounds like you were using your Wi-Fi network from your Airport base station and the connection cut out. You have reset the password on the device but the issue persists. I would try the 3 resets outlined in the following article in order to help resolve the issue. If it persists, is the Wi-Fi connection issue happening on more than one device or computer?

  • I have lost my wifi network.  Get connection timeout message???

I suddenly lost my Airport wifi in my house.  I get a "connection timeout" message.  I am able to use my ATT Uverse modem and had a second network going with my apple airport extreme and airport express.  Suddenly that network is gone.  I have reset all the modems and the aiport express shows up in the airport utility although on the ATT network.  Any help???

Probably restarting your router by removing power to it for 30 seconds would have solved your problem.

  • Connection timeout on hotel wifi - only with MacBook8.1 (810.9)  configd plug-in:8.1 (810.9)

I'm having a "Connection Timeout" issue while trying to connect to my hotel's WIFI.
I bought an ex-lease refurbished white MacBook (Build 12E55 - 2.4GHz, the last 2010 model I think) a couple of weeks ago. I bought it so I could use it while on vacation in Bali, Indonesia. I've got OS X 10..8.4 installed.
At home in Australia, this MacBook connected to my home WIFI with absolutely no issues at all.
Now that I'm in Bali, I'm surprised to find that every time I try to connect to the WIFI at the hotel (where I'm staying for a whole month), I get a "Connection Timeout" error. I'm surprised because my iPhone connects to the hotel WIFI with no problem at all, as does our two iPads and the Android phones that belong to other family members. It's only my MacBook that struggles, even though I get even better signal strength indicated on my MacBook compared to my other devices.
I can connect my MacBook to my iPhone hotspot fine, though I'd prefer to use the free hotel WIFI over my very small 3G data allowance.
So the problem isn't that my MacBook can't connect to any WIFI, because it did at home and it still can to my iPhone hotspot.
And the problem isn't with the router, because all other devices work flawlessly.
I've trawled many forums and articles trying to find a solution. Here's everything I've tried already, that I can remember. (Not in this order and not all at once.)
    Rebooted MacBook (duh)
Sitting directly under the WIFI router. (It's not a signal strength issue.)
Set up new Network > Location. Deleted Ethernet and Bluetooth PAN so it's just WIFI in the list.
    Renewed DHCP Lease countless times.
Tried manual TCP/IP variations. It doesn't help that I'm not sure what to put in the IPv4 Address field. I do know the Subnet Mask and Router IP from looking at my iPhone network info.
Tried using my MAC address as the DHCP Client ID. Also tried just using "1" or leaving it blank.
I don't know what an IPv6 is either.
Tried BootP and completely Manual setups but not really sure of the correct settings to try.
Tried using the DNS servers that I found on my iPhone network info for the hotel WIFI. (One of them is 8.8.8.8 which I think is Google's DNS thing?)
Tried checking Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP Mode, since it was suggested as part of a solution in a forum thread.
Tried changing the MTU to a couple of other settings from an article I read. I think one was around 1453 and the other was 1494 or something close to that.
    Tried resetting PRAM
    Tried resetting SMC
Tried a variation on resetting SMC that involved pressing down the normal keys plus one extra, for 10 secs, since it worked for someone who was told to do that by an Apple Care person. (He didn't know why it worked and other forum posters thought it was supposed to have been a SMC reset.)
Checked the Network> Wi-Fi in System Information to see if the Channel is compatible. The router uses Channel 1 and my MacBook is capable of using Channel 1.
Checked my country profile. It's X1. I have no idea if that's good. All I know is that I'm in Indonesia not Australia and I'm having WIFI issues with this hotel network.
Checked the PHY Mode. Supported are 802.11 a/b/g/n. The hotel router uses 802.11n.
Made sure I was using WPA2 Personal.
Tried deleting all WIFI-related passwords in Keychain.
Tried deleting all Network-related preference files.
Tried removing all LaunchDaemons and LaunchAgents.
It's not a "lost WIFI connection when waking from sleep" issue but I tried turning off sleep anyway.
My husband even had the nerve to unplug the hotel router (small hotel, we're the only guests at the moment) for 10 minutes hoping it will reboot. But I don't know if that's the actual modem or just a WIFI repeater thing (sorry, can't remember the right terms). It didn't work anyway.
I've run out of options, other than just sucking it up and getting a big 3G data allowance since I'm here for a month.
If there is anything else I can try - perhaps working out how to set up my Network manually properly, please help me out. Here is everything in System Information that might help. I'll happily provide any other info.

  • How to set TCP connection timeout in solaris 9

    Hello All,
I am new to solaris. While using oracle, sometimes I face tcp connection timeout.
The timeout happens after a long delay like more than 8 min. I want to reduce the tcp connection timeout to 2 min in solaris.
Please help me to change this setting.
    My current configuration is
    SunOS testmachine 5.9 Generic_122300-13 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440
    Thanks

There's a fair amount of tunables. Without known what is timing out (dns, lost packet...), it's hard to say what you want to tweak. The list of parameters can be seen by using ndd:
    ndd /dev/tcp \?
    or
    ndd /dev/ip \?
and can be set by using ndd -set (see ndd(1M) ). Note that anything you set has to be reset on reboot, so you have to stick this in a script somewhere, or know what the variable translates to to stick it into /etc/system.

  • How does inactive connection timeout attribute in weblogic works ?

Lets say If there is a connection leakage in my application running on weblogic server 10.3.4 and I want to regain the unclosed connection.
After going through some documentation I found out that setting inactive connection timeout to a positive value can fix this issue.
With setting the above attribute will the weblogic server close any connection object which is inactive for specified number of seconds or it acts on only
those connection objects which has lost all the references to it ?
demonstrating the query by an example ,
Lets say I have two connection objects con1 & con2 taken from a defined datasource in the weblogic.
the inactive timeout has been set to 10 seconds.
In a given thread lets say con1 does some db operation and then after being done, con2 is used for another db operation for greater than 10 seconds.
Will the object con1 be still available for db operation or we need to take a fresh connection from the pool ?
    Thanks,
    Tarique

Any connection that has been reserved by an application, and not used for longer than
the inactive timeout limit, will be taken back by the pool. All it's sub-objects will be closed etc.
In your case, you would lose con1 while con2 was being used. Ideally, you would get
any/either of those connections at the instant you really need it. Then, ideally use it
till you can close it. But if you are doing transactions or a job that need connections,
but can't avoid having them idle for X seconds, then set your inactive timeout larger than X.

  • Socket I/P stream's read fails to throw IOException when connection is lost

    Hi,
Socket.getInputStream().readShort() blocks till it reads from the server. It throws an IOException if the connection is lost before calling the method. But it is not throwing an IOException if the connection is lost after blocking.
    That is....
// If the connection is lost before calling, it is throwing an IOException.
    short s = mySocket.getInputStream().readShort();
// But, while it is blocked and if I shutdown the server, it's never throwing
// an IOException and it stays blocked. How should I get around this problem?
    Thank you!

It's true; a timeout is really the best way.
One approach I thought about using, where I was in control of the protocol, was to periodically send a "nop" type operation to the socket; a message that doesn't do anything. Obviously not all applications have this liberty, either because you aren't in control of the protocol, or because you want to keep your application single threaded. It's also kind of hackish, and not as good as the timeout mechanism in most respects.
You also have to be a little careful about what you define as a "connection failure". If, for example, you set up a TCP/IP socket without a timeout, and then physically disconnect the ethernet cable, the connection will in fact stay up. If you come back an hour later and plug in the cable again, the connection will still be there and will pass traffic again.

  • SMTP connection timeout

    Hi,
This question might sound naive, but I just couldnt find the answer.
For POP, IMAP and HTTP it is easy to setup idle connection timeout (just use configutil).
    But what about SMTP connections?
It is set by default on some value (if I just telent on port 25 and live the connection idle, the message Connection to host lost will appear after aproximetly 5 minutes), but I cannot find where it can be changed.
On the other hand, what if connection is not idle, but the user is trying to send a bit biger mail but the link is really slow how is this treated, what is the timeout for this situation and where this can be changed?
Thanks a lot, as always :)

The thing Im having on my mind is to set this timeout to bigger number, and let slow connections to stay alive for more than 10 minutes.
The only parameter I found is MAX_IDLE_TIME in dispatcher.cnf file, by default it is set to 600.
But the explanation for this parameter is a bit confusing:
    MAX_IDLE_TIME=integer
Specifies the maximum idle time for a server process. When an server process has had no active connections for this period, it becomes eligible for shutdown. This option is only effective if there are more than the value of MIN_PROCS server processes currently in the Dispatcher's pool for this service.
Anyway, for testing purposes I set this parameter to 6000 instead of 600, and did:
    ./imsimta cnbuild
    ./imsimta restart
Again I telnet to port 25 and live the connection idle, the message Connection to host lost appear again after approximately 10 minutes), so it seems like nothing was changed.
So, is this the wrong parameter, or for some other reason time is not expanded?
    Btw,
    ./imsimta version

  • Time Capsule Dual Band Mode Connection Timeout

So, after picking up a 500GB Time Capsule the other day I was trying to set up a network in dual band mode, I had it running with no issues for about a day, my MBP, wife's MB, and Apple TV connected with no issue. After that day I lost connection and upon trying to re-connect to the 5 GHz side I immediately get a connection timeout. It is updated to 7.4.2, and MBP, MB, and Apple TV are all up to date. Anyone else seen this or have a resolution?

Apple needs to create a configuration tool that configures all the Apple devices one owns by creating a network diagram using drag and drop symbols...
Sounds like a cool suggestion. If you want Apple to hear it, go to www.apple.com/feedback/timecapsule.html

    Hi Henrik
depend on what you need or what your security policy says for my lab gear i use 60 minutes. because i know how can access this. if you have gear outside in insecure space set it to a minimum or disable the console. everybody how can access your gear can break in. simple restart and boot w/o config. and you are in.
it realy depends how secure is your space and how much security you need.
and than the settings for policy have to match, what sec do you have if your console login and logout is secure. but when you restart you can simple break in by starting w/o config and than load it.

ERROR: ORA-01012 NOT LOGGED ON ERROR
I AM USING A JAVA SWING INTERFACE (JDK 1.1.8), WHICH USES JNI TO CALL C PROGRAMS WHICH IN TURN CONNECTS TO THE DATABASE, ORACLE 8.1.6.
A DATABASE CONNECTION IS ESTABLISED IN THE MAIN CLASS BY CALLING A FUNCTION FROM THE CONSTRUCTOR.
FOR ALL OTHER FUNCTION CALLS WHICH ARE MADE FROM WITHIN THIS CONSTRUCTOR, THE CONNECTION STAYS.
BUT AFTER THE CONTRUCTOR CALL IS COMPLETE, DATABASE CONNECTION IS STRANGELY LOST. THUS ALL OTHER FUNCTION CALLS FAIL BECAUSE OF CONNECTION ISSUES GIVING ORA-01012. THOUGH IF I CHECK UP IN THE DATABASE, THE CONNECTION DOES FIND AN ENTRY.
SO IT APPEARS THAT SOMEHOW THE JAVA INTERFACE LOOSES TRACK OF CONNECTION. BUT STRANGELY ALL THE FUNCTIONS WORK IF CALLED FROM THE CONSTRUCTOR......... BUT THATS NOT THE IDEA.

It somehow appears that the java interface looses the connection context. Though the session does find entry in the oracle dynamic tables as long as i dont close the front end main window, thereby meaning that its the jave interface which looses the context.
