Connection times out when I open iTunes store

When I open iTunes store, I receive an error saying "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network setting are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."
What is a good resolution?

I am using itunes 10.5. Update didnt work on last software but restore did work. Help

After two days of attempts, Google & Apple searches, one Apple post stated to turn off all firewalls and virus software and keep trying since there were 6 gazillion people trying to update.  I have Windows 7 & Kaspersky and had to diable every single safety feature in Kaspersky as well as Firewalls and it finally allowed the download and update attempt.
Glancing at the forum, there appears to be numerous other problems with missing pictures, text problems etc after the IOS5 download but fortuneately, everything seems ok so far.  Good luck, it is frustrating!  Hattie47

  • Why does my network connection time out when downloading iphone 4 software update?

Why does my network connection time out when trying to download iphone4 software update?

I'm having the same problem too. I cannot sync or update over wireless or wired connections ever since I installed the most recent iTunes update. iTunes goes through the complete OS 5.0.1 download only to tell me the connection has timed out just when it seems ready to install. I've since reinstalled iTunes, I've ejected and done hard restarts on both my problem devices. I've disabled anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall. No change in outcome except that, after doing all this, my final attempt to simply sync my 1st Gen iPad led to iTunes crashing and being automatically closed by windows just before finishing the final step. Is this a cruel joke, because I'm certain I can hear iTunes laughing at me for wasting so much time on this.

when i open itunes store i will only see a white screen and i can't see anything
    please someone help me

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Computer shuts down when I open itunes Store

Computer shuts down when I open itunes Store. I don't know why or how to fix it.. It used to work, now it doesn't. I haven't done anything differently. I tried to 'repair' it in the add/delete programs.

Some more info.................I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime.  No fix.   I can access the store on my other desktop computer which I also updtated to the newest version, so I think it's some setting in my laptop.   As I said, it works great until I click on "iTunes Store" then it shuts the whole program down.

  • TS1368 When I open iTunes store the page goes blank on my MacBook

When I open iTunes store it shows the loading bar, it goes to about half and then the page goes blank and I can do nothing but go back to my library. What can I do?

All software has bugs. Try closing the Camera app via the phone's taskbar and do a soft-reset of your phone, and/or update to the iOS 8.2 which was released yesterday).
Closing an app : Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
Soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • How do you avoid Connection Time Out when using Migration Assistant

Connection Time Out occurred when trying to use Migration Assistant to Transfer filess from a Windows Computer to a new iMac.  What do I do to avoid this?
I've connected the Windows computer to the iMac using an ethernet cable and both computers are on the same network.  When I started the transfer, it said it was copying the first file on both machines but nothing was happening.  Then finally it said there was a Connection Time out.  Is there anything else I need to check?

I suspect it has something to do with your network settings on your PC. I'd recommend calling AppleCare right away. you have 90 days of free AppleCare telelphone support, they can help walk you through the process. Also if you haven't already i'd strongly recommend Pondini's guide to using Migration Assistant. You can locate it by clicking:

  • Network connection time out when connecting to Itunes store

When I try to connect to Itunes store i get this message:
"Itunes could not connect to iTuens sore network connection has times out Make sure your network connection is active and your network setting are correct"
Can some one walk me through or link me to a site or discussion so i can get this fixed

I had the same problem several days with the AppStore. Software-downloads did not proceed, i tryed everything, shut down firewalls, change the host-file, disable proxy-server - no success.
    I have Kaspersky-Suite as firewall and anti-virus-software.
    Accidentially I find a solution:
    - select in iTunes at downloads "Proceed" of a download-entry . iTunes then connect with the server, so it is enough time to:
    - right-click on the windows-tray-symbol of Kaspersky and select "stop service" (something like that, i work with the german version).
Now, surprise, the download proceed and starts working again. In case the download is freezing again:
    - Reactivea Kaspersky-service with right-click as described above, then deactive the serve again as i described.
Seems this "Workaround" opens a door to an network-connection Kaspersky usually block by itself.
Shutdown the firewall and finishing the Firewall-Software is a good idea, but you never know, which process is running in the background despite you shutdown everything possible...
Hope the "solution" is working for you!

Ive been trying for the past hour to submit an app via xCode and as it trys to log into iTunes Connect I get a time out error.  Is anyone else realizing this issue?  Does anyone know whats happening and when we can expect it to be back up?

Probably a temporary outage on the backend. Try again and it will probably work.

  • IPhone 4 ios update times out when downloading in iTunes and won't update

I bought a new iPhone recently and sync'd it with my iTunes. Everything worked like a dream but for some reason, my iTunes has never successfully downloaded the latest ios updates and therefore haven't been able to update my iPhone4. I keep getting to the end of the download where I think it's going to process the update onto the device and instead I get an error message saying that my iTunes network connection has timed out?! Its definitely connected to the internet. Error 3259.
Does anyone else have the same problem and know the fix to this?

This question is asked and answered over and over and over and over and over.......
Use the search box at the top of the page and type in "connection timed out".  You'll find the answer to your question.

  • Network connection timed out when upgrading to iTunes Plus

Seems I unknowingly fell into the same limbo as other users, after upgrading 214 songs to iTunes Plus, when trying to download them, I only get "network timed out" messages trying to download those "upgraded" songs.
Then I did my research to find out that it's affecting a lot of people.
It's not my network I can assure you, I flushed the DNS, I tried directly from modem to cpu (removed the router from the line) checked all my network settings and security's, checked all my system32/host files, checked my packet transmission settings, disabled firewalls, virus scanners, re-installed itunes.
So then I went another step to install Itunes 10.1 on my work cpu (different network) and my ex-wife's cpu (different network) and all had the same issue after I authorized their cpu's for my account use.
The 214 songs show up ready for download, but same message (networked timed out)
Seems to me that the Apple network is probably trying to send all the songs at the same time as a single packet, which of course is going to be too huge for anybody's network. (Since I'm hearing that people requesting for their que's to be reduced to smaller numbers 30-50 songs at a time and getting success I might have to do the same)
Is there any other thing I might be forgetting?
I guess if I dont get this resolved soon™, my only resolution will be to call visa and dispute the charges which I'd rather not. Im hoping for a more logical resolution.

This problem is related to having your computer, Apple device, etc
(from your current physical location) being unable to resolve/connect to
the following site/domain names and their related IP address(s).
The following table is presented to help explain/clarify this issue:
    Site/Domain name | IP Address
    phobos.apple.com | 17.250.237.43
    deimos3.apple.com | 206.169.246.144
    albert.apple.com | 17.149.240.64
    gs.apple.com | 17.151.36.30
    itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.171
    ax.itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.139
If ANY of these sites/IP address are unresolvable (via PING for example)
then the ability/usability of Apple's iTunes (and the Store) will suffer.
To have yourself verify that (if) you can connect to these sites, you'll
need to open up a MSDOS/Command prompt window
and then type "ping" (without the quotes) and one of the (above) listed sites.
For example you would type the following at your command prompt:
ping phobos.apple.com (then press the return/enter key)
which (should) give you results like this:
pinging phobos.apple.com.akadns.net http://17.250.237.43 with 32 bytes of data:
Note: Anyt response other than "reply" (like Request timed out)
indicates a problem resolving the site's name to an IP address
and (generally) has NOTHING to do with your (normally functioning) computer
as this is dependent on the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are
using to connect to the Internet (like Sprint, Insightbb, etc) with.
The 'key' here is that it's the ISP's responsibility to (properly) resolve
the site's name to (one or more of) Apple's sites.
If (however) Apple (itself) is (currently) experiencing a DDOS attack
(Distributed Denial Of Service) upon one (or more) of it's sites, then THAT
would explain a possible cause of the problem.
However I stress THAT is NOT the problem since I can connect from my Insightbb
(ISP provider) at home but (currently) can not connect at work via their ISP.
This is (also) WHY the "tag" of the FQDNSN (Fully-Qualified DNS Name)
is listed as http://akadns.net since that is the ISP/Router resolving the DNS name!
I hope that this has helped shed some light as to WHo's problem this REALLY is,
and will help to stop the Apple-User 'finger-pointing' game in it's tracks!

  • Connection times out when streaming/skyping/watchi...

Hi, recently my connection on my laptop has decided to cancel out after about 20 odd minutes of streaming or watching a video online. This started happening about 3 or 4 weeks ago and its really annoying because I skype with my girlfriend a lot. Now, when this happens and i open the connection tab it usually says "No internet access" . I have 5 bars of connection all the time, however, i notice once it goes it usually goes down to 3 or no bars. When this happens i disconnect on my laptop and then reconnect. I have tried updating some drivers which say they are all updated, i have changed settings like "always turn off this device if inactive" to unticked. I have bt infinity, the actual wifi does not disconnect because other laptops in the house seem to still be connected. I have a toshiba laptop which runs windows 7. Any help with this? I've tried many things but none have seemed to work.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

just in case there is a network conflict you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
when you say your updated the wireless card driver did you get it from the manufacturers website as that will be more up to date than windows update.
you can also try chnaging the wireless in the hub from default b/g/n to just b/g unless all your wireless devices are 'n' rated

  • When I open iTunes store I only have the options 'iTunes U', 'Podcasts' and 'App Store'. I don't see 'Music', 'Books' etc. How do I get these?

    As in the heading.

Unfortunately you don't. Not all content types are available in all countries (due to licensing and in some cases a country's laws etc), and in the UAE there are only Apps, Podcasts, iTunes U and free books (a full list of what is available where is shown on this page) - so unfortunately you cannot purchase music, films, tv shows or paid for books from Apple. Are there other media purchase download sites in the UAE that you could use ?
