Connection to company network

I am trying to connect my iPOD Touch to a WPA/WPA2 network in my office, I am able to see the network after configuring the network name, type, and password, but then when I connect I got a message saying that it is not able to connect. what I am missing?

For some reason a number of my posts have disappeared on recent threads the past week or so and a couple of the threads have suddenly been answered with the post that was put up before my disappearing one. Which I know wasn't there. Hmmmm..... What is going on?

AAPL that still doesnt explain as to why my message completely disappeared. I actually received a message saying i didn't have permission to view the thread. The message lasted about 30 seconds.

I don't completely understand your issue. Does this issue occur on 1 network and does not occur on another? Have you tried clearing cache and cookies and making sure your plugins are up to date?
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.

#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.

Can't connect to company network anymore.

Hi guys I need help getting online with company network. I use to be able to connect to the internet through ethernet but all of a sudden it will not connect at my office. I can go over to the main office and it will still connect. The other office computers will connect at my office but not my macbook, it shows self assigned ip address and may not connect. I've tried some other things from other post but nothing is working. Please Help, Greg.

This seems to be happening to a lot of people recently. Not sure if this was after the patch or what.
The only way I've been getting around this so far is going to Firewall and setting it to allow all incoming traffic, wait for it to connect and then reset it back to what you had. I would be able to connect most of the day and then would have to do this again the next day.
This is definitely annoying. I'm not sure what's causing this. I hope they get enough complaints to get this fixed.

Connecting to Company Network

We have a windows server and I work remote most of the time.
In my pc I just type \\Engdocuments in the address bar to connect to our documents server.
How can I connect using a Mac OS? I tried Finder > Go > Connect to Server, but it keeps inserting afp:// before the server name.

Hi,
The afp:// is the correct way to connect from Mac to Windows.
You can try to press Apple+K on your Mac and connect through the SMB:// instead.
It's better to use the IP-address if possible, as the DNS doesn't always resolve correctly on Mac (just my experience).
So you'd connect using a string similar to this:
smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/yourshare
or
afp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/yourshare
This really depends on the setup on the Windows server - AND if the network is configured as an Active Directory AND if your computer is part of the local domain.
If there's more Mac-users in your company you should ask your IT-administrator to purchase and install a small program called ExtremeZ-IP which generally makes it MUCH easier to use Macs on a Windows network.

Offline Files - Where is the "Work Online" Button in File Explorer (when connected to company network)?

I have windows 8.1 Pro. I connected a network drive and was able to set up some of the contents as available offline. When I connect to the VPN, however, and go into file explorer - for that drive, it indicates the state as "Offline (background
sync)" and will not allow me to make other folders/files under the mapped drive as available offline or to open any of these. How can I change this state so I am working online? (Also, sync is not running). Thank you for your help.

Can't Connect to our Company Network

Good morning! I'm new to MAC computers so bare with me. I'm using a MAC at work and I'm not able to access the company Network. I've had our IT lady take a look with no luck. Is there anyone out there that can help?

We'll need more details about your situation to help you. Are you trying to connect wirelessly or through an ethernet cable? Does your network use DHCP?
Does your network administrator have the network MAC-locked (this doesn't refer to Macintosh computers; each device on a network has what's called a MAC address. It's a number that looks like 00-12-34-56-A7-4D and it identifies the device.) If the network is MAC-locked, you'll need to add your computer's MAC address to the list of approved network devices before it will connect. Restricting hardware on a network with a MAC-lock is fairly common in the corporate world.
Please come back with as many details about the situation as you can. Good luck!

Trouble Connecting G5 to Server on Company Network

We have 2 Networks that are connected via VPN between the firewalls. The G5 is connected to our network (#1) and is trying to connect to a server on the other Network (#2). There are a number of servers that it connect to already on the Network #2.
When we try to connect through Go>Connect to Serverand click on Browse we can see the server we can want to connect to (pings on both sides also show comeback good) When we enter in the SMB path with the Share we are trying to connect to and click connect it states: Connecting then states that there is a wrong password and/or user name. Any other server connection there is a prompt for the user name and password for this particular on there is not. We are also not using the Password Keys. What could be causing this?

This sounds more like an issue with the network you are on than an EAS issue, I know there is an issue with slow opening objects in EAS which has been addressed in an EAS patch.
If EAS performs well when logged directly into the server then you probably need to focus your attention on the network side.

Ethernet MAC address has changed and I can no longer connect to the network

I have a new iMac, 21.5" running 10.6.4. It was purchased in the past month.
I am using it on an ethernet network and using DHCP to obtain the address. It has been working for the past few weeks. I turned it on today and it is failing to connect. After some digging around, it seems that the MAC address (Ethernet ID) has been reset to 00:10:18:00:00:00. This is different to the one it has been using last week.
I have not changed any network settings. Airport is working fine.
If I pull out the ethernet cable and reinsert, the machine tries to obtain an IP address. After a while, it returns with a self-assigned IP Address.
Last week, I did notice that it was taking a relatively long time (a minute or so) to obtain the IP address over ethernet. Plugging the same ethernet cable in a macbook, I am able to obtain the IP address for the macbook much more quickly.
I see that I could use ipconfig to change the interface address to what I believe is the correct address. Would this be sensible?
Why would the machine have reset the MAC address anyway?

I am having the same problem with a new MacBook Pro, bought end of October - for me it became apparent for software (Matlab, Comsol) that are registered with a licence file which was created based on the MAC address, and also when trying to register the computer to the company network. That software will only work those times that the computer "knows" its real MAC. Also, I found that audible audio books, managed through itunes, will not synchronize with the ipod at those times when the MAC address is at the producer's default (00:10:15:00:00). I never had network issues other than this computer registration, - no probs at home or elsewhere - , so it will depend on the individual setup which issue users observe.
I have had long phone discussions with different Apple support people, they have done checks based on Capture Data that I sent to them via email, etc.. They can't find the problem in the software/setup and they advised me to go the Genius Bar and have those guys look at the computer's guts.
Restarting sometimes did set the MAC to the real one, also running the code that someone suggested in Terminal sometimes helped.
Other than that, looking through the web, it does not seem to be an Apple-unique problem, but certainly one would like to see support to take care of that issue for Macs soon.
Also, thanks a lot for this thread! Otherwise the support guys on the phone would not have believed my : "the Mac address changes on a daily basis" and would just have brushed me off.

Can't connect to wireless network in Poland

So I just recently moved to Poland for school. I have never had any problems connecting to the internet with my MacBook. At home, in the States, I have a wirless network and access it perfectly fine. On my flight to Poland, I was able to access the internet in each airport. My friend's house I stayed at for 2 weeks when I first arrived had a wireless network without a password and I was able to connect to it just fine. Now, I finally found a place, which has internet, but my Mac won't connect. My roommate has a PC and she was able to connect, so I thought maybe the network wasn't setup to work with Macs, but my friend came over and he has a newer Mac than I do (an aluminum one, less than a year old, I think with Leopard) and he was able to connect. The network requires a password--a series of lowercase letters mixed with numbers-- to join and I've checked and rechecked it for correctness a million times. I've tried everything. I'm so frustrated because for my schooling and to communicate with my family back home I have to have the internet. So this is what I was thinking...I need to purchase the 802.11n Enabler software. I have the 802.11 a/b/g and I think this might be the problem as to why I can't access the Internet. Somehow, I need to figure out how to access the Internet and download this to my computer. My Mac is pretty old in computer years. I've had it since October 2006. Hopefully, this will work. If not, does anyone have any other ideas as to what the problem could be? Thanks in advance!

Ok, so I tried to download the 802.11n enabler and it says my computer does not meet the requirements. I'm not sure why. I have an Intel-based Mac and it does not already have the 802.11n enabler downloaded. Anyone have any recommendations as to what else it could be? I am working with the internet company called Neostrada.

Connect to two networks, ethernet(LAN w/o internet), wireless(w/ internet)

so i'm trying to connect to two networks, a wireless and a wired one
the wireless(which connect to an access point) is a network which allows me to connect to internet, and the wired(regular router) one is a small home local network, which does not connect to internet.
if i just have the wireless one on, unplug/disable wired one, i can connect to internet just fine, but if i do plug in ethernet cable, then all of the sudden i can't connect to internet anymore.
in my Network Coonections window, it does show that the wireless one has "Access to Network and Internet" while the wired one has "Access to Network only". I'd assume that the computer is smart enough to find its way to internet, but apparently not.
is there a way to set a preference, so vista tries to find internet conncetion thru wireless first, before go on to the wired network?
I konw this is technically possible, because on my mac, i can set in such way that it takes certain connection first

I think I am getting it but still no joy.
On the WiFi connection to FIOS Router I have manually set metric to 1.
On Same PC in Ethernet I have removed gateway and set a metric to 10.
Before I did this connection to Internet was very slow when the Ethernet cable plugged in and Interface Enabled. After removing gateway and setting metrics access to Internet AOK.
I have working Homegroup, network printer but no Internet access from Hardwired PC.
Cannot ping FIOS router @ 192.168.1.1 from hardwired PC. Destination host unreachable.
NMAP Quick Scan 192.168.1.* never sees 192.168.1.1
So, I'm still not routing properly.

Connecting to two networks

At work I have a windows PC connected to a secure network (ethernet), and an iMac connected to the internet via wifi. I have to give these two machines access to the same files (rather large media files). Moving a USB-disk is a bit of a hassle.
Can I make the iMac connect to the internet with wifi, and at the same time access a NAS (in the secure network) with ethernet?

I run a small semi-private business within a bigger company. Due to company policies, internet access is really slow and crippled, and as such unusable. So I rented an additional phone line and installed a wifi DSL modem for wireless internet access with my Mac Book Pro. I also have an available ethernet socket on the wall, connected to the company network (plus a company PC plugged to a second ethernet socket).
Here is what I'd like to achieve:
My Mac accesses the internet wirelessly through the DSL modem (subnet 192.168.0.x, gateway 192.168.0.1 as usual, DHCP or not for the Mac IP adress, WAN IP adress irrelevant and dynamic...).
At the same time, I'd like to be able to connect one of the company's network drive through the Mac ethernet adapter connected to the wall socket (different subnet of course, ethernet adapter IP assigned by company DHCP).
Provided I can overcome company objections and get all necessary authorisations, is this technically feasable ?

"Unable to connect to the database" when connected to corporate network

Installed Primavera P6 V7 and Oracle 10g in Stand alone on XP 32bit machines with SP3. When our machines are NOT connected to the corporate network it works fine.
However when connected to the network we can not access the locally stored database. We get message "primavera unable to connect to the database. would you like to configure the database connection now"
Database on servers that we set up are fine regardless.
If we connect machines to just the internet, again no issues.
So something is stopping Primavera opening local database when connect on our corporate network.
Any ideas please?

This may be a long shot but look into how your TNSNAMES.ora file is being distributed on the domain (or are you possibly utilizing LDAP.ora on the domain side?).
Some time ago I remember a company scripting an ENV variable on domain logon that altered where the Oracle client would pull the TNSNAMES from.

I am a student from Belgrade and currently i am working on company network implementation, and i have few problems.
1. I have to make company regional center which looks like this:
- Company has two buildings in one town:
- First building has four departments (finance, development, IT, marketing) and server farm with five servers (one for each department and one shared server)
- Second building also has that four departments and only one server (backup server)
Requests:
a. Each department should see its server without routing
b. All other traffic should go through router
How can i achieve this?
I have sent you screenshot of my network with backbone and one city connected (BGD), with redundant routers on backbone and with its two locations.
Also, i am not sure if i need separate router for each location.
2. I need to add main office and branch offices to Houston router:
-Main office should be connected to backbone and it should contain another router which is connected to branch offices via serial links.
Requests:
a. How should i design this?

It is my university project, but actually, i am not that lazy, i would like to do it on my own, but i am not 100% sure how to do that.
Ok then, i will tell you my ideas and i hope you will tell me if it is right.
1. As you can see in the attached picture i have built backbone (4 routers named NewYork1, NewYork2 (i needed router redundancy for NewYork), Houston and LA) and New York network, which should be one OSPF area.
There are two company buildings in NY on separate locations. Both buildings have 4 departments - floors (finance, marketing, development and IT).
First building structure:
- On each floor i have one department and in the basement is the company data-center (with 4 servers for each department and one shared server) and DMZ.
Second building structure:
- On each floor i have one department and in the basement is the backup server.
Requests for NY:
a. Each department should access its server without routing.
My solution:
- As you can se on the pic i attached, i put a router in each location (routers named NewYork-Location1 and NewYork-Location2), in order to divide the network into two LANs.
- Every department, servers room and DMZ has its switch so i can add more devices.
a. Each department should access its server without routing.
- As i know this is possible only on location 1 if i configure VLANs (one VLAN for department and dedicated server). Traffic from location 2 departments to dedicated routers must go through router. Is there some other way to achieve this? can vlan be made on remote sites?

How to set up an E-mail server, ( To recieve and send outside a company network)

The scenario is, our company wants to start hosting their own emails and not through an ISP. I somehow managed to install and configure MS Exchange server 2010, we are able to send and receive mails but only when we are connected to our company network.
Is there something i have missed?

My laptop is connected to company LAN on wire and I have another active wifi connection provided by a router. Can I use the wifi connection for mozilla connection and the wired for everything else? I'm on Win7.

I have 2 simultaneous active connections:
no1: wired connection to company lan; private IP 172.19..
no2: wireless connection to unrestricted traffic router; private IP: 192.168...
my question: can I use the wireless connection for mozilla traffic and the wired for everything else?
I'm on Windows7 Prof, all security updates installed.

Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties button > Choose the
Use the following DNS server addresses > enter the IP address for a
Preferred DNS server as well as an Alternate DNS server.
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
This IP belongs to Google public DNS.
Note: Wired connections are usually labeled as Ethernet, while wireless ones are usually labeled as
Wi-Fi or Wireless Network Connection.
Uncheck Internet Protocol version 6
