Connection to pop server failed

I used to be able to access my mail with itouch until recently. I've made no changes to settings either on the itouch or in my mail account; I have wi-fi, strong connection and usable for all apps except mail where I get the message "connection to the server pop.orange.fr failed." Can someone advise please?

Does the issue persist after disabling the Wi-Fi? To test, just tap Settings> Wi-Fi> Off.
If it does, try deleting the email account from the iPod and then adding it again. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1385 provides details and tips related to setting up email accounts on the iPhone.
If it doesn't, there may be a Wi-Fi network configuration issue.
Also if you can send and receive emails on your PC using Outlook Express or Windows Mail, you can just sync the email settings to the iPod touch. If its on the same network, you will see the same results.
You can rule out issues with the iPod software by restoring it. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPod touch.

It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? Take a look at the article below, it provides suggestions that will resolve most issues that cause an alert like that to appear in when starting the Mail app.

Which ISP - perhaps your settings are incorrect? You could try using SSL &/or change your port # to see if that helps.

I have Yahoo mail (POP) account. Mine is working fine at present. I do occasionally get asked for password while sending mail. I have had your issue in the past and it usually clears up in a few hours. Sometimes I sign out and then back in and it starts working again.

the note says the connection to the server failed. i can get everything else off the internet but not my mail. i think i was checking out the icloud and might have accidently done something with my email to make it stop being available to me. how can i check out the icloud issue? Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Still no definitive answer for all circomstances on this issue : "hotmail iphone connection to the server failed"
Situation:
iPhone 5 iOS 6 updated
Mail setup for Hotmail using MS Exchange preset to see Hotmail folders
Setting worked ok for a week
Set to gather all mail, not just last 3 days, weeks, months.
Yesterday the problem started, Mail won't connect.
It's not a firewall problem, I tried on 3G and LTE connection with WFI off.
I also tried a Yahoo preset and it work. Also Safari works fine.
I deleted the account, shutdown iPhone, restarted, created new account
Trial 1:
Click Settings
Click Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Click Add account
Click HOTMAIL preset
Click Add Mail Account
Here you enter your hotmail address + password and click NEXT
Switch off the phone and switch it back on
Try to access your mail as usual from the MAIL icon on your desktop, got the message "connection to the server failed"
Trial 2:
Click Settings
Click Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Click Add account
Click MS EXCHANGE preset
Click Add Mail Account
Here you enter your hotmail address + password and click NEXT

Used m.hotmail.com on server field. It offered the extensive setup like on Mail for mac with SMTP, SSL, etc.. which only knew to use m.hotmail.com on server, but instead the menu offer the typical incoming and outgoing server name. Still failed.
The setting were set to these setting by default and it worked: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/hotmail/send-receive-email-from-mail-client
But I don't want to set it to a POP account, I want a IMAP type setting.
So bottom line, the preset MS Exchange and Hotmail on iOS 6 won't work anymore. Why not when they worked for a while until yesterday ?
Nothing changes on iPhone setting.

Has anyone called Apple support on this issue or is this strictly a Hotmail issue?
Also, just to make sure I'm understanding that my problem is "normal" for what others are encountering:
I set up my hotmail account and it wont work, I try to do it thru "Other Email" and it doesnt push the emails to my phone, I can get the emails (at times) but I have to fetch them. Otherwise I cannot send or recieve any emails by setting it up thru the Hotmail or Microsoft Exchange accounts.
Is this what everyone seems to be encountering?

DMS-200 doesn't play uploaded videos: "Connection to video server failed"

Hello, everybody!
I have CISCO DMS-200 deployed. I have console and an http access, I can manage options, I can upload videos, but I can't play them in web-browser. The device was bought 6 months ago and deployment was done by 3rd party. But the video playing over browser didn't work ever.
There is no proxy between PC and DMS, I have all codecs installed on PC, I've checked FireFox, IE, Chrome...
When I try to start video playing, the following message appears: "Connection to video server failed". (See screenshot).
I have some ideas about the reasons.
First, may be I need an additional license for Player at DMS-200 side? Because in Digital Media Players section I have "This feature is not licensed".
(See screenshot).
Second, may be there are problems with File Hosting Locations? I have several error messages like "URL test failed" in the appropriate section (Please, see screenshots).
So, please, share you ideas about the issue! There is a few information about the problem, I can't find anything. Are there any ways to turn on debug at DMS-200 side?

I am having a problem accessing my Yahoo email account. It keeps saying, cannot get mail, the connection to the server failed. Then I put my email in settings and it works but this happens constantly. Anyone having this problem?

My Yahoo email asks me daily for my email password or says the connection to the server failed. Is anyone having this problem currently? I noticed old messages in chat mentioned the same problem. I get into my Yahoo email fine on my desktop computer for several weeks without re entering a password. But the IPad does not seem to be connecting daily with Yahoo without putting a password in again.

So, I didn't change anything and now it is working better. I still get the odd error though.
I have a feeling this has something to do with the SSL update Apple released and it was their server side.

Hmm, that's odd JeanEB. The error message referts to the connection to your email server not to cellular data or connection to wi-fi. Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Select your account and type in your password again. If this doesn't resolve it, delete/re-add the email account.

Just upgraded to TB 31.4.0 and it is no longer asking for password, will not download new mail but does connect to POP server. I can send (it asks for p-word)

Despite inability to sign in, I have access to all settings and address book.
I've "repaired" the inbox folder and checked the firewall settings. Connection to POP server is fast. Downloads for the last week or so (prior to upgrade) have been VERY slow...
Likely the solution is "simple", but I'm very much NOT a "software tech" kinda guy.... If you can help, please use small words ; )

Also on most autmated systems, if you hit 00000, or ##### you can sometimes get thru to a person.
Is Yahoo your Internet provider? Do you have a local provider? ei:AT&T, SBC, cable co, check who you make your check or epatment to...etc, If so I would start there, but if no joy go to the "Mothership"
I may be wrong about this, (it's been a long time now) I may have deleted my mail account from Mail (after writing down all the info from all General/accounts, and the rest of the tabs, and then added a new account using my existing email address, and it may have "walked me thru the rest of the proceedure".
But like I said it was a long time ago 3-4 years, but that may have been the path I ended up taking, make sure to write all the info down in case you need to re-enter it all manually. Then try calling them.
