Connection to the car's USB

I have an ipod nano and touch and have tried to use the USB connection on the KIA Sportage with no luck. The sales man said I could do that when we were looking at to buy, so of course he would say yes.
So my question is.... is it possible to connect to the car's USB to play the ipods?
Also it seems when I connect this, it charges the ipod. Am I right?

So what does happen when you connect your iPod?
Is the only reaction the iPod charging? No response from the interface?
Does the stereo have a manual?
Does the stereo have an actual USB connection (meaning you can plug any USB cable into the stereo) or is this a built-in dock connector (single cord attached to the stereo with dock connector on the end)?
How old are your nano & touch?

It worked the first day i had the phone, and then i updated to Ios 8.0.2 and it quit working.
Now when i get in the car, it acts like it is connected and makes the same call it was on after syncing to bluetooth, but it really isn't on a call. This is happening on both cars.
Does anyone know if this is the phone and i need to take it to Apple or if there is an issue that Apple is working on getting a fix for?
My son in law has the exact same phone as me, we both got the on 10/6, he had a Dodge Dart and his is working via bluetooth.
Someone HELP please, as i consider this a safety issue by not having my calls go to bluetooth.

We had the same problem, but figure out the solution.
You MUST have at least 1 song added to your ITUNE! After you add a free song, then everything else should work as normal!

In attempting to solve these problems I have gone to settings-phone-upgrade and it states that the upgrade is available-select to continue-(which I do)- it checks -please wait and it then states that update not available - try later.

For specifically fixing the Bluetooth, un-pair your phone with the car, and go through the process of repairing the two.
In general, the KK update requires many of us (different phones) to perform a Factory Data Reset after we back up our personal content (pictures, music, movies, or other downloaded files) to a PC or MAC. This will result in you having to do a bit of work to setup icons for the programs you use, and maybe putting in the specifics again for email accounts and other specialized apps. So if you are going to do this sort of thing... copy important information/settings down on paper.

IPod no longer connecting to the car

My iPod touch has stopped connecting to the car. It says it does not support this accessory, the car says no audio files. It has been fine for months. I have reset and restarted the iPod. I've tried my iPad with the car and that's still fine so it must be the iPod rather than the car. I started it playing an audio book this morning it it wasn't in the right place in the chapter so I unplugged it to alter the chapter position, when I reconnected it, it just wouldn't do anything. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Try:

IPhone 4S only shows up in iTunes when connected to the laptop through USB, even though wifi sync has been enabled

Why will my 4S only show up in iTunes when it is connected to the laptop through USB? Even though I have ticked the box for the wifi sync and had no problems with it being plugged into the wall and still showed up in iTunes up until a few days ago. Help please !

Connect your iPhone to your computer and click on it, you should see an option under options for 'sync with this phone over wi-fi' unclick it and it should stop connecting over wifi.

Normally yes, Bluetooth can connect to multiple devices at the same time, so yes.
The only thing is that you'll be able to send sound/music to only one at a time, but I understand the Garmin HUD doesn't play sounds.

Many people are finding their Iphone 4S drops connection with their VW (Passat etc) integrated bluetooth hands free system after working fine for 5, 10, 20 minutes. The only way to reconnect is to switch the car off or turn the Iphone bluetooth off & back on.
This is a dangerous fault and it appears that both Apple & VW have no solution (or are ignoring as they have already sold you a phone & a car).

My ipod classic skips in the car via USB, PLEASE HELP!

When i connect my Ipod classic via USB in my car it skips tiny amounts during songs. It plays fine other wise, throught the headphone hole is fine. I have tried a new cable, It has the latest software, I have looked at other forums where they say make all the tracks the same bitrate and stuff like that but im sure thats not the problem as it happens on all tracks and the bitrates of my collection vary as thay are all from differnent sources. Any body have any ideas? This is starting to drive me crazy!

Never mind. I finally got it to reset. I guess 5th times a charm.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Windows 8.1 laptop cannot connect to the internet using USB Mobile Broadband stick.

I bought a new laptop and it came with Windows 8.1 installed. Well, things worked perfectly until I wanted to connect to the internet using my mobile broadband USB stick. I installed the software that came with the stick, and my laptop recognize
the stick but I still cant connect to the internet. The stick workes perfect in my Windows 7 and Windows 8 laptops, but IT DONT CONNECT WITH MY WINDOWS 8.1 LAPTOP. What can I do to troubleshoot this???

If you haven't already, verify that you can connect to the internet through some other means such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet with your laptop to rule out any network setting issues. If you are able to connect successfully to the internet, use that opportunity
to make sure you have
Windows 8.1 Update installed as well as any other applicable updates your laptop may require.
You may also want to check the
Windows Compatibility Center to make sure that your device is compatible with Windows 8.1.
Another possibility is that the driver your laptop is installing for the device isn't the correct one. Check the device manufacturer's site for the most up to date driver they have available for Windows 8.1.

My wife's iphone 4s connects to the car bluetooth but handsfree doesn't work.

This used to work fine. She can make a call by dialing a number on the cars touch screen, but the call only comes through on the phone.
If I connect my 3GS to the car then it works perfectly - sound comes through the speakers and the microphone in the car is active.
What did she do to turn this off and how can we turn it back on again?
We have tried:
- Unpairing and re-pairing the phone
- Telling the iPhone to forget this device
- Turing off Siri

In the end I tried a full reset (press and hold the top button and front button for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo shows). Then, after re-pairing, everything was back to how it should be.
I thought I would post that here in case anyone has the same problem because I didn't find an answer in my searches.

Aftermarket deck charge nano if it's connected with the white apple USB?

Hey all! First time user so bear with me!
I'm looking to purchase a new aftermarket stereo for my car (the Pioneer DEH-4100UB is the model I've pretty well chosen). The documentation for this model states that it supports up to the 3rd generation Nano as well as the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch (1st gen) and the 5th gen iPod classic.
Now all these models appear to be the older Firewire charging-enabled models which isn't a problem, except for the fact that my girlfriend has a newer 4th gen iPod Nano that doesn't support 12v Firewire charging, only the 5v USB charging.
Now I understand that normally this would be a pretty easy answer: "No, the stereo will no charge it"
However, this deck has a USB port and the enclosed iPod dock connector-USB adapter is detachable from the head unit.
If I remove this and replace it with an official white Apple USB-dock connector (the one that came with the iPod) will the head unit retain all iPod control and functionality (ex. track skip, play/pause etc) AND charge the iPod?
ps. The deck is certified "Made For iPod" and "Works With iPhone" and is advertised as having a "Fully Powered" USB 2.0 port (it is also compatible with flash drives).

For anyone who comes across this: the deck DOES charge the iPod through the white Apple USB-dock connector! I decided to buy it and give it a shot and it works with FULL functionality. I also tried my iPhone 3GS and it played and charged perfectly. Everything works exactly as if it was explicitly supported.

Connect to the Internet With USB?

I have an 800 Imac that was connected to the internet thru ethernet. We had a bad storm and I think the ethernet connection got fried.... the modem did and was replaced. Now all other computers and wireless connections are working except the old 800 mac.
The cable modem has a USB port in the back. I tried to connect the computer via USB and can't get a connection...
My conclusion is that this is not possible...am I correct?

Connecting via USB would require Mac compatible drivers for your iMac. These are not often found since not all device manufacturers create Mac compatible drivers. If available, these drivers are often only compatible with limited versions of the Mac OS X and the drivers can be unreliable.
You may want to invest in an original AirPort card for that iMac. Then it will be able to wirelessly connect like the other computers.

Computer is connected to the modem via usb port

Can I install a wireless router (WRT54GS), if my computer with the Internet connection, is connected to the modem thru the USB port ? My computer does not have eathernet connector and I don't see how I can connect it to the router which is one of the steps in the instructions.

well if your comp does not have a "ethernet" aka "LAN plug" then u can go buy a Network card they run like 15-20$ at any walmart.... installing a network card is fast and simple.
