Connection to the device was lost

I get a "Connection to the device was lost" error from Ovi Suite 3.1.1. 80 when backing up an N900.
What can I do to succesfully backup my N900?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Ovi Suite can not backup to destination sitting on the network like a NAS or something. This is something the designers of Ovi Suite didn't think of.
Now I backup up to my workstation and have to include the backup of the N900 in my backup of my workstation.
Change Request: Allow backups of Ovi Suite to go on a network drive.

  • HT204074 "Connection to the iPad was lost"?

I recently restored my iPad and trying to sync to my MAC however, as soon as it starts to sync the photos I get the "The iPad could not be synced becuase the connection to the iPad was lost" prompt.  My iPad is on without the screen lock and also plugged into the computer.  Why am I having this issue, it's pretty frustrating that I'm not having trouble syncing my devices.
I don't know if when I restored this iPad I restored it as a "New Device" and did not use a back up.
    Please help, I'm royally frustrated.

    Demo,
Thank you so very much, I rebooted our router (just in case), rebooted my MAC & iPad.  This worked wonderfully thank you.

    its so BAD (((

It seems that I have solved my issue by performing a full factory reset (erasing all content, something which I had hoped to avoid) restoring from an iCloud backup did not alleviate the issue, I had to set up as a new iPad.
Hopefully anyone else else who has this issue in the future will be able to find this.

  • When I try to sync music from itunes library to my ipod touch, it says it can't sync because the connection to the iPod was lost. Please help!

When I try syncing music from my library to my ipod, I get the message that it lost connection. My ipod is plugged in to the computer though. Does anyone know how to fix this?

How is your iPod configured to sync music? In other words, what options and configurations do you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs in iTunes?
Maybe have a look at this article as well to verify your iPod is set up for syncing music.

  • Connection to the phone was lost - N95 8GB

It's progress, but I still cannot update my N95 8GB.
With a previous version of Suite, it wouldn't even download the update, gave me 12017 error. Now I get a shiny new error with the Beta version of Suite - 3.4.
It gets to the stage of telling me the phone will restart, but instead just gives me a full shutdown and the connection ends up being lost. I've tried on different computers, different USB slots - same deal every time.
12052 is the error I end up with when I give and cancel the update. 'There is a problem installing software to your phone' it helpfully informs me.
Any ideas? I've been trying to update this phone for months!

  • The iPhone could not be synced because the connection to the iPhone was lost

It appears that my upgrade (yesterday) to latest ios on my iphone 5 has messed up my sync function.  This is the message I get when connected via USB.  I've tried powering down the iphone and reconnecting but no good.

    Wi-fi sync conflict??
So after I posted I had an idea to turn off the wi-fi sync.  I rebooted the iphone and reconnected.  The sync (via USB) completed without the error.

  • Visual Studio 2005 The remote connection to the device has been lost. Please verify the device connection and restart debugging.

Basically I've been using Visual Studio 2005 for a few weeks now moving a Pocket PC project from 2003 to 2005. When I hit the Start Debugging Button every time until today the project would rebuild and deploy to my pocket PC allowing me to debug etc but now I get
The remote connection to the device has been lost.
Please verify the device conection and restart debugging.
I used to get this problem in VS2003 sometimes and just like the numerous posts on different sites that I've looked at the problem eventually goes away and I'm none the wiser. One guy said that he found that if he went to bed the problem was resolved when he came back!
My PDA running Windows 2003 2nd Edition is directly connected to my PC via a USB port. I've rebooted my PC and done a soft reset on the PDA but it didn't help. I'm using ActiveSync 4.1.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

I still can't debug. I have just tried a hard reset and I get the same problem

  • Constantly get "The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost."

When I try to use IChat at home on my PowerBook I get "The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost." as soon as I try to connect. This does not happen at work though. It works fine at work.
I thought it might have something to do with the different ISP's or Router settings on my Netgear wirless router. (At home I connect via ethernet cable.) However it WILL work at home about 5% of the time.
    ANy Ideas to troubleshoot?

    Hi Scuba Dan,
Check that Systrem Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab has the drop set to your Download speed.
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page4.html#_quicktime
Also check iChat > Preferences > Video Section Bandwidth drop down is set to NONE.
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page4.html#_bandwidth
These two will cap iChat if not set properly.
As Defcom says if these settings are correct you may have a modem that is having trouble wiith forwarding port 5190 on both TCP and UDP protocols.
Changing the setting he mentions drops the login below any Port Forwarding and NAT involvement on your modem and router.
Having said that avoiding NAT and Port forwarding by using UPnP is another way around this. Most Netgears have UPnP enabled as default. You don't need Port Forwarding ANd UPnP. Disable the Port Forwarding settings by Unchecking them.
    For others,
Zyxel devices are prone to needing port 443, as are newer devices that want protocols to be set when Port Forwarding.

  • "The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost"

Occasionally when I try to log in to my AIM account, I get the message, "The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost." This happens randomly and if I keep pushing it, sometimes it will let me on. It seems to be entirely at the will of the computer.

Try the Combo Update to get to 10.4.11
PCC computer use this http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
Intel ones use this http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eintel.html

  • "The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost" Cannot log into AIM

Every time I try to log into ichat, using AIM service I get this message...
The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost.
However, I can log onto ichat on my other mac. (macbook) And I can access AIM from AIM program on my windows computer....
Everything in preferences is configured right...Can anyone shed some light onto this?
    thanks,
    Joel

I have this problem, using ichat only (not using aim directly) and posted before in another thread with essentially the same name as this one. I tried all the solutions offered and none worked. BUT I did "solve" my problem. Here's how:
Solution number 1) I connected my macbook via an ethernet connection directly to my cable modem. No other changes at all, no further problems, was able to use ALL features of ichat immediately and quite well (audio and video).
Solution number 2) Since we have several computers at home, we must use a wireless router, a Netgear router. If I connect to the router (which then connects to the cable modem), ichat does not work, and I get the exact message as in this subject line. Going to the Netgear router settings (changing nothing on my macbook), I changed ONE thing only: I disabled the SPI firewall. Then, no problem using ichat to chat, but I still can't use audio or video features.
Hope this helps. For me, it diagnosed the problem with using basic ichat: the SPI firewall on the router. Also, the audio/video problem is a router problem too, which I do not yet know how to fix.
Since I am timid and fearful, I do not want to leave the SPI firewall permanently disabled.

  • Connection to the host was unexpectedly lost.

I'm still having problems connecting to AIM using iChat. I switched to port 443, and I still get the message that the connection to the host was unexpectedly lost.

    Ok,
Do you have individual wall sockets ?
Do you have a router in the room ?
IS your Wireless card set up for Interference Robustness ?
How are the ports opened in the modem ?
    UPnP for two computers ?

    Hi
Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
    Set the port to 443.
    Log back in again.

  • Netgear + "The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost"

I have an 802.11g Netgear router. I just got it, previously I had the exact same router, but 1 "version" behind.. aka it was gray and this one is white, but everything else SEEMS identical.
Everytime I try to connect to iChat now, I get the message:
    "Lost connection with AIM
The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost."
My buddy list starts to come up, that message appears, the buddy list closes, and I'm screwed.
I am set to the DMZ. I am using port 5190, but 5191 and other ports work.. but I cannot use audio or video chatting. My client shows up as "not capable" of audio or video (MBP so I'm capable of both, and did both before this new router).
Help is appreciated, and I will gladly hand out cookies to anyone who can help.

    Hi
Try this log on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
    Set the port to 443.
    Log back in again.
