Connection to the imap server failed on WiFi

Hi -
Has anyone encountered this problem? All of a sudden, I am getting the following error message on my iPhone when I try to check my email (and am connected to my WiFi network): "Connection to the imap server failed." If I turn off WiFi, the connection works fine (using 3G). All settings are correct, and this has worked fine for almost a year before the problem started.
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
Rob

If you truly tried everything there is no hope of ever making it work. But perhaps you missed something, so here are a few things (and if you've tried them...)
Reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears
Go to Settings/Mail,contacts,calendars, tap on a mail account. Make sure there's an entry for SMTP or Outgoing mail server (You may need to tap on Account to see the entry)
Tap on SMTP and make sure you have entered your email name and password (even if it says "optional")
If there's more than one server listed make sure the appropriate one for that account is the primary
If all of the above is correct delete the account, reboot the phone, and add the account back

I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am
    getting an error message.
Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?
I am getting the following error message:
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    Hi bucaroov,
The error "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found." means the ReportServerURL configured in the ReportViewer control is invalid.
Please follow these steps to solve the issue:
    Logon the Report Server machine.
Open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
Copy the Report Server URL from 'Web Services URL'.
Logon the application server(in this case, it is the server that host the web page), check if we can use the URL we got from step 3 to access the Report Server. If so, please replace the ReportServerURL in the ReportViewer control with this URL. If it is
not available, could you please post the error message.
Additionaly, we don't need to provide the extension for a server report. The ReportPath should be like: /<reports folder>/<report name>

My iPad cannot send mail - the connection to the outgoing server failed.

Go to the email settings, and re-enter your Outgoing Server username and password.
Have you changed that recently, perhaps on the Incoming Server but not on the Outgoing server?

  • Connection to the outgoing server failed

My iPhone keeps saying connection to the outgoing server "smtp.mac.com" failed. I also have 2 unsent messages that have been trying to send for 2 weeks. I have 2 questions:
    1) How do I get rid of the connection failure?
    2) Where are the unsent messages and how do I delete them?
    Thanks for any advice

whoa and behold guys, I have the same problem BUT I fixed it. I was up all night looking for answers. I wanted to reply back this morning from a guys email sent to my aol email stating to pray for a job promo. this morning newspaper he made headlines for the school district board of something I dunno..
So I wanted to reply congrats, but thats were I encountered the problem.
I figured I put in the USERNAME and PASSWORD, AGAIN in the outgoing mail server portion (smtp), which is the last portion. leave your advance settings the same as usual I think. for mines, use SSL on both incoming and outgoing, password authentication, and of course 993 port for incoming, 587 for the other..
I tested mailing from my gmail to my aol mail address, and I had my aol software open. I checked aol mail on my iphone, and while watching the aol screen the mailbox icon went away.. MAGIC!!
but thats not what you want to hear..... i replied BACK on my iphone.. and it SENT!!! i checked my gmail.. WHOA AND BEHOLD there it IS!!!! you guys will want to thank me badly LOZL

  • Logging into the imap server failed after creating OD Master

I should have left things alone....
I have an OD master 10.5 server on the network that my local clients point to. To use the 10.6 server which houses mail as a TimeMachine backup, I created it as another OD master. For some reason (thankfully) my e-mail account is still functioning but the accounts for junkmail, notjunkmail and caught (for server captured junkmail) no longer function. I tried using workgroup manager and deleting the local account "caught" and created a OD account for it giving it mail privileges. Then used sudo chown -R caught caught to recapture the home directory but no luck. I have looked in console and cannot see the issue.
    I would appreciate any insight.
    Paul

I found the answer. Using Server Admin and connecting to the server I had to allow access to the users for mail services. This worked for the user which I had switched to an OD user and the ones that were local users on the server.

  • Connection to outgoing mail server failed only while on WiFi

I can only send emails out when I am not on a wifi connection (ie Wifi turned off). When it is on it say the "connection to outgoing mail server failed" smtp-server.satx.rr.com
Is there a fix for this?

Enter your userID and password for the SMTP server smtp-server.satx.rr.com even though it says "optional".

Lion Server is bug ridden even by Apple's (low) standards

    Hi!
I had the same problem after going to Lion Server. What seemed to have been the problem was that I also recently exchanged my router, as lightning (sic!) struck my old Draytek. Now I have a Fritz!Box and that thing has limited configuration options for DNS.
So my situation -- which may or may not be what you have -- was that the internal fully-qualified name (what the server thinks it is based on its IP address and the reverse lookup the Fritz!Box gives is) and the external name are different.
So, if my server is called Lion, and my external (DynDNS-domain) is domain.me, then the server thinks it is Lion.fritz.box, but I address it via Lion.domain.me. And then the imap server, which listens on domain.me seems not to respond to being called fritz.box (or vice-versa, not sure what's really happening behind the scenes).
I solved it by setting up DHCP and DNS on the Lion server, making it name server for domain.me, and then switching off the DNS-service in the Fritz!Thingy. So in the intranet the Lion.domain.me is resolved to the 192.168.1.2 or so of the server, but if you're off-site, you get the DynDNS address for your router, which then sends stuff where it should go.
The you change the server network name (in that new Server application under Server->Network) from Lion.fritz.box to Lion.domain.me, ensure the SSL-certificates reflect the new name, and suddenly the IMAP and the Web-interface believe they are on the same machine.
Worked for me. Just tried also from my iPad via 3G, so coming in from the internet, and works like a charm. Too bad Apple have removed a lot of the configuration options in the new server management application, so this differing name problem is not so obvious and easily fixed.
Hope this helps! And if not, at least I can find my own solution back here in the forum should I ever need it again
    Cheers,
    Hendrik

  • My email account in Mail.app is IMAP, but when I delete emails, they don't delete from other devices connected to the mail server with IMAP. Deleted mail on other devices delete as normal from the server and thus from other devices as normal.

MacBook Pro, late 2011 version. Up to date Mountain Lion.
My email account in the Mail.app is set up as IMAP, but when I delete emails in the Mac Mail App, they are not deleted from the mail clients of the other devices that are connected to the mail server with IMAP. IMAP works perfectly between Windows Outlook 2010, iPad Mail App and Android default mail client. Deleted messages behave correctly, as in delete from one device and the mail is deleted from all devices.
Having just tested in reverse order on the Mac; emails deleted from the email client on Windows, iPad and Android are not deleted in the Mac Mail App.  It appears that the account is behaving like POP rather than IMAP.
Any advice on how to have IMAP work correctly on the MacBook Pro Mail.app?
    Thank you.

Hi Csound1, thanks. The email host is 1and1.co.uk, however, i am going to fess up and make myself look like a plonker now -
the email account in question was set up in Outlook as POP - stupid, stupid, stupid me, wasted an afternoon on this!  I have now changed the Outlook account to IMAP and Mail.app works perfectly - and looks much nicer than Outlook did.  Im in the middle of converting from Windows to a Mac, and still finding my way around the Mac
The lesson learned, never assume - always double  check!  All my other email addresses with 1and1 are all imap, except this one, and it happened to be the first one I set up in the Mail.app. (bows head in disgrace!)
Thank you anyway for attempting to help me!
    Cheers

Can't connect to the iTunes Store
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • HT204076 Since I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 8.1.2 last night, I can no longer connect to my imaps server.

Since I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 8.1.2 last night, I can no longer connect to my imaps server. Other clients can connect to the server. Rebooting the device is no help. Before the update (i.e. 8.1.1), it was working fine. Is this a known issue?

No, it is not a known issue. It is a known non-issue. Try resetting your IMAP login ID and password. Both the incoming and outgoing. If that fails delete the account reboot the phone, and add it back.

  • Connecting to the upgrade server issues

The server name which i did not list was my friends old job server. i just want to know how to change the settings or whatever to allow me to update my software from my home wifi thanks
