Connection to windows server sometimes fails after standby

Hello,
I am using a Macbook Pro with 10.5.5.
Connections to Windows file servers works well. But sometimes after resuming from standby the it is not possible to connect. The "Connect to..." hangs and in the konsole i see:
23.11.08 11:37:34 com.apple.launchd[90] (com.apple.netauth.useragent[3770]) Exited abnormally: Segmentation fault
After rebooting the mac it works again.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
Thanks in advance
Alex

Hello nobody loopback,
The following is unrelated to this post, however it is the only way I know to contact you.
I found this page
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1218394&start=60&tstart=0
I have a nearly identical situation where a backed up my entire "Macintosh HD" to a compressed DMG image file. During the restore process on the Leopard Install DVD it froze and I had to force restart. Upon restarting, I found my internal HD with only an Applications folder filled alphabetically with 73 and a half apps ending with a half restored iDVD.app and worst of all my single copy DMG (I know, foolish) reporting a "No mountable file systems" error. Due to the highly proprietary and closed nature of Disk Utility DMG images, I have chosen to contact you directly for help as the Apple Reps turn me to 3rd party data recovery and Data Recovery companies claim they don't do file repair. I feel someone with a wealth of knowledge concerning the DMG file format is my only option.
I was wondering if you could help me out.
So what do you say?
Here is the thread I posted for my case.

thank you for your time,

• Unable to connect to windows server using VMware after AppleSoftwareUpdate

Hallo,
we are using a Mac OS X Server 10.5.7 server to host our new business application's database. However, all the old data was stored on an old Windows NT 4.0 server using an Oracle database. We still have to access the old data using our former business application for backward compatibility on a regular basis. Because we were unable to move the data over we decided to create a virtual machine. Everything was fine and the VMware Fusion trial worked great. So we decided to buy your software. At the same time we have installed a few Apple updates (AirPort-Utiliy 2009-002, iLife-Support 9.0.3, Safari 4.0 and QuickTime 7.62) on the server. When we tried to run the business application on our clients - Windows 98 (they're accessing a shared folder containing the EXE mounted as a network drive) the applications just crashed after entering the username and password: "application caused an invalid page fault in module ..."
Is there any possibility of an incompatibility connected with the installed Apple updates ?

I would post your issue in the Printing & Faxing forum area. More chance for some of the gurus like Greg Sahli to respond.

• I have a time capsule connected directly to fiber connection. I have connected a windows server directly to TC and configured it for remote desktop connection. From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home. What config I need on TC?

I have a time capsule directly connected to fibre optic point out. All pcs and macs are connected wirelessly to the internet. I have connected a windows server pc to TC. When configured for Remote desktop connection, I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet. I guess I need to change some settings in TC to get some ip adress for the remote desktop connection from my home. Anyone who can help me out? Appreciate it.

I am a little lost now.. I have read again your title and your first post.. and they seem inconsistent.
In the title you state.
From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home.
Interanet is not a word I know.. I assumed intranet...are you talking about internet or intranet? And just to be clear say WAN or LAN.. !! Is your home part of the interanet??
In the first post you state,
I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet.
Now this is more normal.. the issue is not in the home at all, it is accessible from there but fails from internet. If this is correct, then you can do a few obvious things to determine where the problem is.
But first I need to know are you actually testing from a different internet connection to your home lan.. you are not just trying the public IP from inside the LAN as that will fail due to the TC not doing NAT Loopback.
I am also assuming the TC is the only router in the network, and has the public IP on the WAN interface.
And I am also assuming you have turned on the ping responder and you can actually ping your public ip from the internet and get a response. This helps no end in figuring out where there are issues. Strange but I have no idea if there is a ping responder in the TC WAN so you might need to forward that as well. Also if you have a dynamic public ip address are you using dyndns or no-ip or some other service to connect.
1. Test bypassing the TC.. plug the internet connection straight into the windows server,, and test if you have access. If yes, the TC is the problem.. if not, your setup on the windows server is wrong.. look at firewall in particular.
2. Assuming from test 1 the TC is the problem, Post the screen shots of the port forwarding setup for us to look at.. that is by far the easiest way to check it out.
There are lots of references to port forwarding in the TC.. eg
http://must-know-mac.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-port-forward-time-capsule.html
The things that generally go wrong are firewall on the computer that is accepting the port.
The ISP doesn't allow connections on a particular port. (not likely in your case)
The router is behind another router.. double NAT will kill any port forward.
Upnp has already allocated a port.. not an issue as TC doesn't use upnp although a reboot of everything after you set port forwards is well worth it.. amazing how things don't stick properly without a reboot.
IP on the receiving device is not static and so changes.
Not enough or right type of ports are opened. This is always messier than it looks as one port is often not enough for two way communications.

Hi, I think this might have todo with the fact that your Java stack wants to connect with a server from the same logon group called "PUBLIC".
Please make sure you added the same logon group "PUBLIC" to the ABAP Server.  Try transaction SMLG.
Also as posted above the SLD needs this info aswell.
After using the transaction SMLG, log in and out 5 times in a row to your ABAP stack using SAP GUI. This might actually force an update to the SLD.
Greetings,

• Adf input file - connection to the server has failed(status=unknown)

We are using input file component to upload an excel file and read it. Sometimes we are getting error - " A Connection to the server has failed. (status=unknown) " when we click on browse and add the file. We are getting this error when we just add the file. We are not doing any operation while adding the file. After the file is added, we have a submit button to do post operations on file. But we are getting this error immediately after we add the file. JDeveloper version 11.1.1.5.0.
Any inputs will help us.

Hi,
there must be a stack trace in the log files that gives you more information about this. Chances are the browser closes the socket connection, which you can verify by using another browser and avoiding e.g. VPN connect for testing. Another test to perform is to try 11.1.1.7 and see if this works for the use case in case you sit on a known and already fixed problem

• Connection to server failed (Error NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT)

Hi there,
I'm a long time linux user (casual) and have recently got hold of a machine that I am using as a server. I am able to SSH into this fine from my laptop and I am doing all the setup from ssh.
I am trying to set it up so I can use Samba, however keep getting the following error

I have no windows machines so it's only my laptop and desktop both running linux that I need to connect to this. I have tried googling and searching these forums to no avail
Thanks for any help that can be offered
Mike

If I run the following (on the machine I'm trying to set up the share)
smbclient -L localhost -U%
I got the following output
Connection to localhost failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED)
so I thought it might be something incorrect with the iptables side of things, however I haven't really touched that at all and it seems to look correct
iptables -nvL
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 667 packets, 79977 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT 157 packets, 20724 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
So from my (very little) knowledge this appears correct (I think)... However it appears that something is blocking access somewhere.

• Help My Iphone 3GS the hotmail has stopped working and my contacts and the calendar no longer hook up to it  it keeps saying the connection to the server has failed and it running the latest 5ios

Hi please help I have an Iphone 3 G S it is using the  5.1.1 ios upgrade which it has had for sometime although there was a minor update last evening ? My phone worked fine until arround 1 pm today then it stopped getting mail from my hotmail account along with the hotmail I am not longer able to see any updates to my calendar and most of my contacts have dissapeared. I have tried reconfiguring the hotmail account, deleating it, and putting it back on, and changing the password but none of these has worked. I know hotmail is working from my computer and it also working from another app I downloaded to the phone just now ( mail pro)  but it still says connection to the server has failed?
Thanks so much

Click on your Hotmail account in Settings, click on the blue arrow and Forget this Network and try signing in again.

• Can't create ODBC connection in Windows Server 2012R2

I just finished installing the instant client & odbc connection on Windows Server 2008R2. I then attempted to perform the same installation on a new Windows Server 2012R2 instance and encountered the following issue.
After extracting the contents of the 64bit instant client & odbc files into c:\oracle\instantclient_12_1, adding this to the path statement, and adding a TNS_ADMIN environmental variable, I successfully ran odbc_install.exe from an admin cmd window. I then opened the 64bit ODBC Data Source Administrator, clicked add, selected the Oracle in instantclient_12_1, and clicked finish. As soon as I did so, I received the following error: "The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient_12_1 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126: The specified module could not be found. (c:\oracle\instantclient_12_1\SQORAS32.dll)"
I uninstalled the odbc client (odbc_uninstall.exe) and attempted again with the 32bit version & 32bit odbc configuration screen. I get the exact same result with 32bit as I do with 64bit.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I am experiencing the same problem.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

• "A connection to the server has failed" occurs in 3 minitues

I have deployed a web application(ADF) that inserts batch of records(over 50k) to the DB and client is expected to wait for the response.
But after client invoke the insert browser produce "A connection to the server has failed" java script error exactly after 3 minutes.
So the connection between client and Web Logic 10.3 is failing. Insert to DB continues to work.
Is this due to a timeout, why this error comes? How to configure web logic to avoid this.
-Prasad

PR,
You've been given some advice on the ADF forum in terms of how to deal with this (e.g., make the process asynchronous and use an af:poll/af:progressBar to keep the user informed).
Expecting a single HTTP request to work without timing out when you insert 50,000 rows one-by-one into the database is unrealistic.

• (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed

Hello,
I'm almost giving up on this...I've been messing with this for too long now...
I get this error message:
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed Connect_PM
TYPE=B MSHOST=exts0002 GROUP=PUBLIC R3NAME=ANB MSSERV=sapmsANB PCS=1 ERROR       hostname 'exts0002' unknown TIME
Tue Feb 14 16:40:02 2006 RELEASE     640 COMPONENT   NI (network interface) VERSION     37 RC          -2 MODULE      ninti.c
LINE        332 DETAIL      NiPGetHostByName2: hostname 'exts0002' not found SYSTEM CALL gethostbyname_r COUNTER     1
I try to get the flightlist demo to work. I've put in "sapmsANB         3600/tcp" in services file locally in my machine (I'm using Sneak Preview SP11).
I've also done everything in "/people/sugree.phatanapherom/blog/2005/08/14/configuring-sld-in-sneak-preview-sap-netweaver-04-sneak
I've done everything possible to get this to work, but no luck.
What is wrong here?, please help

Now I've put in "193.183.156.17     PetJoh     PetJoh.afab.local" in Hosts -> rebooted -> but still can't ping exts0002 (or the fully resolved name to it) I can't ping the actual IP nr either.
I can, however use JCO java code like:
import com.sap.mw.jco.*;
public class R3Connect extends Object {
         JCO.Client mConnection;
         public R3Connect() {
              try {
                   // Change the logon     information     to your     own     system/user
                   mConnection     =
                   JCO.createClient(
                   "100",                                        // SAP client
                   "rfcuser",                                   // userid
                   "jakob",                                   // password
//               null,                                        // language
                   "en",                                        // language
                   "anb.af.hosting.emtab.com",               // application server host name
                   "00");                                        // system number
                   mConnection.connect();
                   System.out.println(mConnection.getAttributes());
                   mConnection.disconnect();
              } catch (Exception ex) {
                   ex.printStackTrace();
                   System.exit(1);
         public static     void main (String args[]) {
                   R3Connect app =     new     R3Connect();
This works perfectly fine to connect, Why doesn't SLD?
