  • I am getting "Connection was reset" when trying to load any of the "My Yahoo" pages. Other sites appear to work, and trying the FAQ suggestions did not work

When I tried to log into my my.yahoo.com page, entering my user ID and password, I got the following error message:
    '''The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
I am able to open the same page in Windows Explore 6.0 and 8.0, and when using Firefox on a different machine
Also, last week, everything worked just fine.
So it appears that something must have happened to the
    configuration on this machine.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanx,

  • Connection was reset when browsing a single site.

Whenever I browse just the battle.net group of forums (Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, etc) I get a Connection was reset error. The site loads normally if I refresh the page or go back and click the link again.
It only happens with the battle.net sites, all other sites are fine.
I've performed the regular duties; clear cache/cookies, start in safe mode, reboot computer, reset router, etc. The problem still occurs. I thought it might be my antivirus (AVG) but the problem persists when I disable that.
I even thought it might be due to the upgrade to FF36, but downgrade back to FF35 hasn't helped either.

I don't run a proxy, and there's not one set up on my computer (internet options control panel checked).
EDIT: <strike>I think Adblock Plus might be interfering, so I'll tentatively mark this as solved, although ABP shouldn't have been running in safe mode.. odd.</strike>
EDIT2: Nope, still happening with ABP off. :-(

Update back to 36 since it happens on both. If there have been any updates to this since your post, please also provide these steps for further investigation.
Since this is only happening on certain websites:

Forgetting a particular site can be done from the about:permissions page, however this will remove all stored preferences for a site and may not be recoverable with out a back up of the profile.

  • The connection was reset when navigating eBay FF15

    The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
Works fine with IE8 Just received update for FF15 today(8/31/12), did not have issue with previous release yesterday.
I've already tried clearing cookies, cache etc.

Wonders of wonders, magically, it went away. I had the same issue with FF15 and eBay both at home and at work. Miraculously, someone fixed something either with FF15 or eBay, and it is gone.
    Not my router.
    Not my cookies.
    Not my anything.

  • I get "The connection was reset" when trying to open Hotmail from my bookmarks. Why?

None of the solutions provided along with this message seem to apply.

The server may just be busy.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Also check the firewall to be sure that it isn't blocking or restricting Firefox in any way.

Deleted yahoo account and tried to set it up again on I phone and I pad. Just keep getting message "cannot access server". Can read and send e mail via yahoo app but would like all e mail accounts back to under one icon. My I cloud account is still there.

the settings program will not allow me to enter any of those cells.  the accounts section is all in grey scale (not black) and none will open including "add account"

  • The connection was reset + Secure connection failed

Hello, I am using firefox on the web and I keep encountering the same error message that the connection was reset when I try to access webpages. Following the article at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1024256 did not solve the problem as it only fixed it for google.com and no other website, however when I hold down shift and reload the page it will reload, sometimes in basic html. Operating in safe mode will bring up these pages in basic text without graphics.
Sometimes, it will instead show the message Secure Connection Failed for trusted websites such as news agencies.
I have disabled my themes and add-ons but the problem still persists.
I woud like some guidance on how to go about fixing this problem. Thanks! :)

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section.
If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the <b>issuer of the certificate</b>.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • "Connection was reset"; only fix right now is rebooting computer

Several times each day I get a "connection was reset" when visiting a particular site. I've gone through the forum and tried such suggested fixes as resetting Firefox, clearing cache, history, cookies, disabling antivirus temporarily, etc. All of these do not fix the problem; go back into Firefox and the "connection was reset" message comes up right away once site is visited. Only way to "reset" the error is to reboot the machine at which point the site will work for a bit but sooner or later "connection was reset" problem comes back again at which point computer gets rebooted once again. Thought maybe it was specific to the site in question but can open up Opera 25 and have no problems whatsoever with the same site. Any ideas? Only "clue" I have to this thing is that something about the system reboot allows the browser and site to work for a short time before error occurs again.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

  • Could not purchase "Mr. Hurricane". The network connection was reset.

Anybody else getting "network connection was reset" when trying to get the free USA single of the week?
My 8.01 network diagnostics say everything's OK. I get the same message when trying to look at my account.

Yea, I'm getting an error also, although it's a different one (-4 I think is the number) and it screws my whole OS up and I have to reboot. I can't get any of the other free titles or redeem Starbucks free singles. They must be having some server issues. Usually clears up later in the day when I have problems like this.

  • I keep get this messege The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. when I try to log in in some site like hotmail and photobucket

    The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
and my internet is connect and every thing fine with web site that I don't have register or response

Thanks for responding, David. Using <Esc> and <CtrlW> might reduce the time in returning to the other tab, but does little when the triggering of a wanton alarm is very frequent. The connections I have used were extremely reliable and fast. I am using at this moment a 54 Mbps WiFi connection that lives up to its ratings in downloading & uploading data; yet, as shown in the attached image, I still get this worthless alarm. I do not know if this problem happens with my regular ISP since I have been using this tiny notebook only when traveling -- will test that once I am back mostly for curiosity, but even then if then the alarm were not triggered this would be of little consolation, since other browsers do not have the problem right now).
As a moderator, I urge you to ask the Mozilla-powers-to-be why there is no way to turn off the alarm with, say, a true/false switch in about:config (mind you, there is still old-versions junk in this config list, so it isn't we are talking about amending the constitution). Complains about this fugly alarm can be traced in the web as far back as 2010 at least. Besides, what is the advantage of the alarm for the average user? When FF users are still posing amazingly basic questions in forums of Firefox or Mozilla support, such an alarm ought to be _off_ by default and should be an option of advanced settings menu. This annoyance shows how much the critical focus on keeping a simple GUI uncluttered by trivial or higher-level messages still needs to evolve for Firefox, which I have used it since it was known a Firebird. Guess will have to switch to Chrome now while abroad.
    Happy Holidays
