Connection with LabView & 54600B Oscilloscope & Agilent E4438C

Hi,
I am trying out an exercise on receiving the data from the 54600B oscilloscope into LabVIEW Analog and Digital Modulations VIs. Currently, i am trying out on ASK modulation and i want to grab the signal/waveform from the scope and display in the ASK modulation exactly the same as ASK modulation graph. And this ASK modulation will be used as SubVIs,which can be seen from the attachment to have a clearer image on the work.Can anyone please help me??This is very important because it is my project work..Thanks Alot!

Hi,
yes, that's the graph i am talking about. I think you can see it the ranges and position beside the graph belong to it and have their 'default' setting of scales which is autoscale but i cannot see(or display another) the waveform in the graph when i run my exercise. So i have to set the scales manually instead of using the default scales. For a clearer explaination, eg. i set my scope and display a waveform i want, but when i run the exercise, not only the "signal generator information graph" did not display the desired waveform i want in addition, it affect and change the waveform in the scope too (some time too big and scope hang for a few sec or other waveform). that's why i have to set the setting of the "signal generator information graph" manually but i don't know in order to set the value of those ranges and position,what factor or condition i must take into consideration. I did know can change the scale, thanks but i don't know how to set to a correct scales as i have failed for many times in displaying the waveform correctly both in scope and LabVIEW "signal generator information graph".

I have called LabVIEW in TestStand and tried to execute the test cases .

Hello,
If the instrument is capable of being controlled from its TCP/IP port, it will be possible to communicate with the instrument from LabVIEW using VISA.
The VISA resource name input will need to be entered manually and is a little different from the normal Serial or GPIB format. The format is as follows:
For SOCKET connections, this is just like the traditional TCP functionality in LabVIEW. An example string that connects with the NI FTP site is:
"TCPIP::ftp.ni.com::21:OCKET"
For INSTR connection, this requires a device that supports the T&M standard LAN instrument protocol. An example of this (that we have tested with) is the Tektronix 3054 Scope. A string that connects with this scope is: "TCPIP::HostnameOrIP::gpib0,1::INSTR"

N6030A Connection with LabView

Hi,
I am working with N6030A connected to Laptop through MXI Express.
I read http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=270&message.id=3106&requireLogin=False
and it doesn't solve my problem, everything in IVI-drivers section on Measurement and Automatic Explorer seems to be alright
I have a code in mathlab, which can strangely communicate with the N6030A. Moreover, the N6030A Control Utility can detect the N6030A address.
However, I cannot even connect to this device with LabView.
When I use a AGN6030A driver (AGN6030A Initialize with Option) on Labview and connect it with an IVI resource name, there is only "ASRL3::INST" address available, which I don't really know what kind of device it is. Anyway, the connection using this resource name doesn't work either.
I have also tried to copy the resource name that is showed on my N6030 Control Utility, and it doesn't work.
Can you guys help me.

Which instrument driver did you download? Which hardware bus are you using (GPIB, PXI, ethernet, etc)? I assume your instrument is PXI based; is this correct?
The resource name "ASRL3::INSTR" corresponds to your serial port in your computer. If you are connecting to your N6030A using this serial port, ASRL3::INSTR is the correct resource to choose.
From searching the instrument driver network, it looks like this is the only instrument driver available. It does not look like it is an IVI driver, but instead a software utility that you can use to communicate with the instrument. How do you access this instrument through Matlab? Through a DLL? Through VISA?

K8047 Velleman connecting with labVIEW trouble

I have a K8047 Velleman datalogger and we want to connect this with Labview.
This is the labVIEW program we used to read the data. (Found on this forum).
I can find the K8047 in the 'Meassurement and Automation Explorer' by using the NI-VISA driver.
After running this block program in labview, Here is no error code shown. But there is no data output on the screen too.
What can be the problem?

Ok thank you. We deleted the VISA Wizard. What do we need to do with the dll?
There are two dll files...
K8047D.dll
FASTTIME32.dll
We read on the forum that these two files as well as
K8047e.exe needs to be in the same folder as the VI.
If we do so, we still get no data?

Which stepper motor is required to connect with labview

title:fault detection in pen. i am doing a project in image processing using labview .i want to interface stepper motor with labview using daq how can i interface and which type of stepper motor is suitable for rolling metal sheet in which the pen is placed at the top

I would start with the motor and work down, Labview will woek with any.
1. Figure out how much motor you need: torque, speed, resolution, size (nema 23, 34 .....)
2. Select a drive for your motor: many diferent drivers to control a particular motor, How much current is required, motor voltage, inductance
3. Determine the interface to the controller: step and direction, cw/ccw, serial. (I like step and direction)
4. Determine support options for the motor, encoders, limit switches ...
5. Now you can select your ni card to match the interface, (NI Motion- good for copmlex interfaces and multimotor synchronization, Digital/ counter timers simple but limited conmplexity, less expensive but more software needs to be written)
This all depends on budget and requirements.

Is it possible to get 2-ch signals from TDS2012 oscilloscope at the same time with LabVIEW "7.0"?

Hi, everyone.
I've been trying to get the signals from 2-ch of Tektronix TDS2012 oscilloscope at the same time using IVI connection with LabVIEW "7.0"
I've already searched this developer zone for the answer.
I've tried the famous example: "IviScope - Acq Dual Wfm Edge Triggered.vi"
and it gave me the error message like:
Error -1074110451 occurred at IviScope Initialize With Options.vi
Possible reason(s):
Driver Status: (Hex 0xBFFA600D) Primary Error: (Hex 0xBFFA600D) The Config Server module is not present on the system.
I think I've installed all~ the required softwares for IVI. For example, ICP 2.2, IVI engine 2.0.46, and tktds1k2k ivi (instrument driver for tds2012, in fact this one is for LabVIEW "7.1"... :-P)
TDS2012 and my computer is connected through HPIB(GPIB) and it is shown on the MAX (a GPIB instrument as well as an IVI hardware asset)
I've tried GPIB connection but it gives me asynchronous signals...
Is it possible to get 2 signals at the same time with LabVIEW 7.0(not 7.1 or higher) by any means?
What in the earth is the "Config Server" in this case?
I don't need to sticking to IVI and any method to achieve my goal will be welcome.
Could anyone give me the hint for this problem, plz?

I think your problem is that the instrument specific driver is version 7.1 and you are using the class driver with 7.0. You can create your own 7.0 driver by downloading the LabWindows driver and using the Import CVI Instrument Driver under the Tools>Instrumentation menu.
Since you don't seem to have a good reason to use IVI, why don't you try the native LabVIEW driver at http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=E3B19B3E9139659CE034080020E748.... I believe you have all of the functions to setup each channel and then when you trigger the scope, both channels will be captured. You would then transfer each waveform separately. The data is always read sequentially but that's not important as long as both channels are triggered at the same time.

Connect RS232 with labview to read current and voltage values.

Hi, I am trying to connect my microcontroller kit which will measure the current and voltage. I was provided with rs232 port to connect with labview to read the voltage and current data that is measured by my controller. How to make it display both current and voltage value by acquirng the data from rs232. I tried some programming but it doesn't work or it was wrong. How to make it work ?

As we said in the other thread, you need to talk to whoever is designing the microcontroller and decide on a specific format for it send you the data. Once we have that, then we can start talking about how to program this up.

I am currenty using labview to control Agilent E4438C to do a frequecny list sweep but how do I display the current frequecny the signal generator is at? I look through the VI in the instrument driver but I can't seem to find it.

I think the second solution is the best option. I think the reason why you can't get query the instrument during a sweep is because that sweep is a single command. The next command cannot start until the last one completes.

I am trying to connect Agilent DSO3062A Oscilloscope with LabVIEW using USB but the device is not recognized by MAX. I have installed the drivers for scope and it works fine with the scope software. The problem is LabVIEW dosen't recognize the scope. Please tell me the procedure of setting up the scope with LabVIEW 8.2. I am using Windows XP.

I think the issue is that the DSO3062A will not be recognized by LabView as a GPIB instrument through the USB connection. If you check out the 3000 series manual (http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/D3000-97016.pdf) you'll notice on page 8 it says you can't use the USB for programming, it can only be used with their scope software. You need the N2861 module installed on the back to connect via GPIB, and then a GPIB interface to your computer. I hope that helps.

We were able to solve that problem...but now could you advice as to which DC power supply we should use (preferably avalable in India) so that it can be controlled by Labview (through a gpib/rs232/any other port) to give a square wave of desired frequency/other parameters.

Agilent 34401A multimeter to PC with Labview driver via RS232

Hello!
I am trying to measure a voltage with Agilent 34401A multimeter connected to PC via RS232 cable. I installed the driver. When I am starting Read Single Measurement.vi. It gives me an error:
Error-1073807346 occured at Visa Open in Agilent 34401.lvlib: Initialize.vi->Agilent 34401 Read Single Measurement.vi
Possible reason(s):
Visa: (Hex 0xbFFF000E) The given session or object reference is invalid.
I would like to ask, how can I adjust my system to use RS23 with Agilent 34401A, if it is possible? If not, should I get GPIB card and cable?

LabVIEW already comes with a driver for the 34401 pre-installed, so I'm not sure I understand what you installed. The pre-installed driver is in the Instrument I/O >> Instrument Drivers >> Agilent 34401 functions palette.
As for the control that Dennis is referring to, it's the VISA control.
As for the VISA version, you should have received a set of driver CDs along with LabVIEW. That will have the minimum VISA version required. Don't remember off the top of my head which version it is. Probably something like 4.1.

ThermoVision Labview Digital Toolkit for connection with a FLIR SC645 is not working

Can somebody help me?
I have troubles connecting my FLIR SC 645 with my Labview Software.
The “FLIR R&D Software” works fine I can make a connection with the camera over Ethernet, I can take images and read temperatures.
Now I want to use the labview toolkit to automate the measurement in a production process.
So the camera is connected over a Ethernet port directly to the PC.
I can see the camera in NI MAX under NI-IMAQdx Devices. If I try to snap a image a error occurs:
Error 0xBFF69031 The system did not receive a test pack from the camera.
The package may be to long or a firewall may be enabled.
When I dig in the libraries of ThermoVIsion I found the “ThermoVision Cam Ctrl.vit”. This program does work, it connects to the camera and I can do a internal calibration and some focusing but that is it. The examples from Thermovision does give me a black image and a Error -1.
Does anyone has some experience with this toolkit?
The main idée I had is to inport the image into a vision builder and their work with some intensity levels. Is this possible? And how do I connect with the camera?

Hello,
usually IR cameras have dfferent pallete displays (monochrome, rainbow, saturation, etc...). The default is probably monochrome, that is why you are seeing it. You should be able to change the output by sending the appropriate command to the camera.
Regarding the jumbo frames (I suggest that you leave this alone, if you get your camera working):
