Connection with Win 2008 R2 SMB connections

We have a customer that has had several issues with various versions of OSX connecting to shares on a Win 2008 R2 server.  At the moment there is one user testing Snow Leopard and SMB.
Historically they had problems with SMB and started using ExtremeZ and AFP connections.  They are now getting various permission issues and I'd like to get them back on SMB.  However this one test user is getting random beach balling when searching shares.
I know in the past there have been various tips posted but just wondering what the latest best known practises are so I can get him to test some things before we look at migrating the rest of the users.

Not sure if you got an answer by now, but I deployed an S160 running 7.10 in a Win2k8R2 environment without a hitch...

  • Problem with installing R12  with Win 2008 (Rapidwiz 12.1.1.9)

I could really use someones help.
I did a download recently of Oracle Financials R12 for windows (I'm using WIN 2008 server) which contained version 12.1.1.9 Rapidwiz. I was unable to get it to work as individual DVD's which is fine, I build the staging area and had better results.
The first error I encountered was the release contained JRE 1.6 but the install referenced 1.5. I took a suggestion that I saw to copy the directory and rename it which worked just fine.
The next error I encountered came during the database install. There was some problem with the database service. It sounds similar to a problem discussed about just the database not related to Oracle Financials but the "fix" to just start the database doesn't seem to apply.
Below is the Rapidwiz log. The warning first mentioned is to check to be sure that the Administrator user being used in the install belongs to the administrator user group which of course it does.
I've brought to the top of the log, the error that I think is occurring. Please help me install, I'm trying to evaluate the software but having trouble with just the install is concerning.

i´ve been trying to install HP Color Laserjet 2600n on server 2008. i am unable to find a driver for it. and i have also tryed to install hp universal driver it goes all well till sharing it and from cleint pc (win 7)  i can also access it but
when i send a print order, doesn´t come out. anyone plz help me

    Hi, from HP's official site:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=446154&lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=446153&taskId=135
it seems that HP has not released a compatible driver for Windows Server 2008 yet. You may need to contact with HP support to see if they have a latest driver for Windows Server 2008 or if they have plan to develop a Windows Server 2008 compatible driver
for this printer. You can visit the following HP support site:

  • Firefox 4.0.1 doesn't open web app from withing win 2008 server.

I have an asp.net web application hosted on IIS 6 , windows 2008 server. When i try to browse to this web application from within the server machine Firefox 4.01 throws error saying "Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname)" . But i could browse to same web application using Firefox 4.0.1 from a remote machine.

The last Apple Supported OS for FCE was 10.6.8, that's three changes back.
Some users have luck with the newer OS systems.

  • LMS 3.2 on Win 2008 Server - Web Server Issue

    Hi,
I just installed LMS 3.2 on Windows 2008 Server Standart X64 and the CiscoWorks Web Server service does not start (Apache service is down but Tomcat up).
All other services seem to be correctly started even if this is quit long.
When I try to manually start the Apache Service with "pdexec Apache", i got :
    ERROR:Get reply from server failed:
ERROR: Daemon Manager startup in progress. Please wait.
When the deamon is up, the second line disapeared but apache is still not responding and of course, the URL is unreachable.
This is a HP Proliant Server with 12Go RAM, is there a maximal size for the paging file ?
I did not modify TMP and TEMP variable, should I have done it before the installation ?
it appears to be some service startup issue on win 2008, is there bug fix or work around ?
    pdshow attached
Thanks for your help, this is quit urgent.
    Cedric.

    >>>  is there a maximal size for the paging file ?
There's indeed a swap file issue with Win 2008. See the first reply in this thread for corrective action: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/675893#675891
Though it may not apply, because you've installed LMS 3.2 ok, since you seem to be aware of it, the TMP/TEMP variables do need to be shortened, as noted in this post: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/677383#677383
Is your Win 2008 Server running any Microsoft Service Packs? Because AFAIK Win 2008 SP2 is not yet supported, and no one seems to have any luck on it with LMS 3.2 yet.
After LMS 3.2 is up and running, if you can't log in to the web GUI, you might be running into the CSCtb17186 bug, described in this post: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/676256#676256

    If not this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
    Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    Then:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • ORA-01017 with Managed Provider 4.112.3.60.  Bug with ODP on Win 2008 R2?

I'm experiencing some trouble with the manage provider and I can't seem to figure out what's causing the issue.
At first, the Managed Provider seemed to be a drop in replacement for the Unmanaged Provider.  However, when we moved some code to our testing environments, the application started failing with a 'Logon Denied' error.
Our dev machines are 64 bit Win 7 and our test machines are Win 2008 R2.  The DEV machines do not have any trouble connecting to the database with the identical connection string used in the test environment.  I can connect to the database using sql plus with the connection string used in the application.
I'm at a loss on how to trouble shoot this.
    Thanks.
    Jon

App does not run in share drive, runs on operating system D:drive (However, I do access the Win 2008 via Citrix Desktop)
Removed the canned tags created by Visual Studio from app.config which removed the app.config error noted earlier,
recompiled, and ran app from test directory with this app.config and then app failed with this trace file
    As reminder:
No installation of Managed Driver, so machine config should be clear of managed driver settings.
Used XCOPY version of .60 beta, keeping the tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora copied from server Oracle Client > network > admin folder
along with the three managed driver files in the test application folder.
    Not using transactional services.
App is just simple test of managed driver calling list of tables with SELECT table_name FROM all_tab_cols and placing in List
App environment is WPF .NET Classic 4.0
    OS is 64-bit Windows 2008R2
Is the SQLNET NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN : (WORLD) supported?
From trace file, looks like YES as I submit the SID MYDB to the connection string builder and Managed Driver adds (as it should) the domain name .WORLD
Also as reminder, this app works just fine with UNMANAGED driver compile in same environment.

  • Win Srv 2008 R2 DC interfering with Win Srv 2012 R2 RDS RemoteApp functionality during program opening by any user

I have a small LAN with a Win 2008 R2 SRV as DC, File Server and App Server for QuickBooks and QB POS, and a VMware 5.1 host that has three utility servers running on it. One of these three is a Win 2012 R2 SRV config'd with these RDS roles (RD Session Host,
RD Connection Broker, RD Web Access, RD Licensing and RD Gateway) installed as a single server solution, simply because we're only servicing a few users. RDS roles were installed and configured before installing the MS Office 2013 and QuickBooks apps. I created a
simple Collection and setup the RemoteApps for access.
Initially I had only installed the RD Session Host, Connection Broker and Web Access. Installed the Apps, restricted access to only the RemoteApps and tested their ability to open via an internal connection from within the LAN in browser, minus the SSL errors
and .local address everything worked fine when a user authenticated. I installed the Licensing component and activated it and the internal LAN connectivity continued to function. I then installed my single SSL cert and configured it for use in each requiring
RDS role, opened port 443 thru my firewall to the RDS server and then began testing connectivity from external browser, at this point I initially encountered rights errors with my RDP users group, they were being denied logon access, it seemed
the Win 2008 R2 DC is mixed in the middle of the auth cycle of course so I straightened out that problem via GPO. I then again attempted to login via external source and now could login and obtain access to the RDS Web Access page showing my RemoteApps
BUT now when I click on an App to open it as either a user or Admin it attempts to Auth the process thru the Win 2008 R2 DC instead of directly to where the App is run from on the 2012 RDS server and gives me this error...
RemoteApp Error: Windows cannot start the RemoteApp program. The following RemoteApp program is not in the list of authorized programs:
Further details can be added to this but has anyone encountered this problem with a similar setup?
    Thanks
    NeoPaladine

Yes, but thanks for bouncing all of the ideas.
I saw that I was receiving Event Error 201 each time a failed RemoteApp load would occur, followed the trail for that and found the following that fixed it!
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2010/01/14/remote-desktop-gateway-client-fails-authentication-with-your-user-account-is-not-authorized-to-access-the-rd-gateway.aspx
    Specifically this step:
    Solution 1
Register the NPS server in Active Directory:
In Server Manager, browse to the following location:
Roles\Network Policy and Access Services\NPS (Local).
Right click on the NPS (Local) node and choose Register server in Active Directory.
Click OK to authorize the server when prompted.
Once I registered as above the RemoteApp's loaded perfectly both internally and externally when requested.
Thanks for leading me in the right direction!

  • Crystal in Win 2008 64 with Oracle

I'm using windows 2008 64 with Oracle client 64 VS 2008, what kind of connection i can use to connect to oracle?
I tried to use oracle OLE DB but it doesn't work, it returns only 1 column of data.
I tried to use Microsoft OLE DB for oracle and i'm getting the following error:  "Invalid mapping type value in CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ReportClientDocumentClass.VerifyDatabase()".
I can't use Native oracle connection because Crystal 2008 is not compatible with 64.
How can i solve this problem?

Since the Oracle client is 64 bit and CR 2008 is 32 bit, you wil not be able to use CR 2008. Your only option with with 64 bit Oracle client and .NET 2008 is Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (CR 10.5) which bundles with .NET 2008. And ODBC only. For more info, see the article [Crystal Reports support of 64-bit Operating Systems|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10d5fa88-2013-2c10-c9a5-f11963607d4e].

    Dear all.,
I have newly installed sap erp ecc 6.0 in win 2008 server with db2.The installation is successfully finished and system is up and running.
But the issue is i could not find anything in the control centre to take backup and to do other activities.
I tried to add the system in control centre and i tried to run with DB2admin create command.
Please anybody let me know how to get all the systems and all database in control centre in db2.
    ERROR returned SQL0104N
    best regards.,

db2admin create command is for creating the DAS, I guess no need of it here
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/admin/t0004960.htm
On Windows server, start -> run -> db2cmd -> enter
Does it open db2cmd prompt ?
If yes, check these and paste the output here in forum
    echo %DB2INSTANCE%
    db2ilist
    db2 list db directory
'I tried to add the system in control centre'
Ok, I guess you are trying to add the instance. Try the following link for 'Listing available instances' and 'adding additional instances'

  • Compatability of ECC DEV&QAS on Win 2008/SQL 2008 with Prdn on Win 2003/Win

We are planning our  upgrade of my SAP landscape (ECC 6.0 , Portal & BI) . Would it be feasible and do-able to migrate sandbox, dev, and qas to Windows 2008 & SQL 2008 , allow the support team to use the 2008 landscape.  That means that my Dev. environments would be on Wind 2008 & SQL 2008 while my production would still be Win 2003 & 2008.   I'm not feeling like this is workable for the transport domain? will I have issues with transports across to production?
    So the question is
Is it possible to transport from Windows 2008 SQL 2008 landscape over to a production landscape that is on Windows 2003 SQL 2005?
Any other issues I should be aware of ?
BTW, we would have Portal and BI setup in the same way  DEV & QAS on the newer releases and Production on the Older release.
NOTE: this would be for about 3 - 4 weeks
    Please advise
    Maria

    Thank you,
So you're saying that if I had the DEV environment in Win 2008 SQL 2008 (being the transport domain) , and the production environment in win 2003 sql 2005, IF we had to transport across this type of landscape there should be NO issues.
Nothing else to think of as posing risk?

  • UCCE 9.x design with Win Server 2008 R2

    hi all,
How should i plan my partitions in Win 2008 Server design if staging guide to UCCE 9 tells about having partiton C and D, but doesn't have reccomendations in allocations.
Our customer got 125 Call Agents, and here are recomendations for virtualising in attached file below.
In  my opinion for SQL server machines i should separate between Disk C and Disk D moving all DB data to D. But in a case of Win 2008 machines w/o SQl 2005 server possible to leave Disk C only.
    Any comments would be appreciated!

The OVA files don't have windows and mssql.. perhaps i mislead you with this didnt mean to...
The OVA files contain the virtual machine configuration only (how many vCPU, vRAM, vHDD, ...). The supported method for deployment of the UCCE system is to create the virtual machines using the OVA files..
For the ROGGER and AW-HDS virtual machines, the OVA file creates 2 harddisks (which will map to C and D drives). For the PG, the OVA file only contains a single harddisk (C).
You will then install windows and mssql on the virtual machines yourself. However, you don't have to worry on how many drives or the resources configuration, as this will be automatic
