Connectivity 5.1 to ddts-100

Can ne one help me? I got the decoder since last 20 days. Not getting the sound effects the way i wanted it. I m haivng philips 5.1 sonic edge sound card (psc605), and 5.1 inspire 5200 creative speakers and got new ddts-100. When i connect ddts-100 through my sound card i cant see LED of DOLBY and DTS fucntions on. I cant use or go the selection of DTS or DOLBY on decoder, even by pressing the appropriate switch on ddts-100. My motto for decoder is to play mp3 songs and music on PC. i dont want to run DVD or ne external sources with the decoder.. Well i can say.. with or without decoder sound effects stays normal. No change in sound effect. Well i m not sure, but i did analog connection and Coaxial connection with the pc. but still DTS and DOLBY function inactive on decoder. I can access movies , music, cinema modes from decoder selection.. but tat's no meaning to hear with that. I want DTS and DOLBY. Please advice me if there's ne extra cable needed or nething else must needed.. please specify exact thing to get these kind of setting on my decoder.

Ok, I will start from the beginning with the basics:
The DDTS-100 is a decoder. This means, it can only decode a signal and put it through to a speaker system. It is NOT an effect box, a soundcard, anything else than a decoder.
What do you get with the DDTS-100? The main unit, switchbox, cables.
How should you connect everything? You connect the switchbox to the main unit. Then, connect the soundcard's analog outputs to the switchbox. Then the speakers to the switchbox. Then any peripheral components such as DVD player, X-Box or the soundcard's digital out to the main unit.
Now what?
You have two settings on the switchbox. Why? Because as we have said before, most digital out soundcards can only produce 2 types of signals digitally. That is a PCM Stereo signal or an encoded data stream (either DD or DTS). If you play a stereo source such as an mp3 file and send it out as a pcm stereo signal you will only hear it from the left and right front speakers. So if you want to send discrete multi channel audio from your soundcard you have to use the analog output and set the switchbox to PC-mode. This effectively bypasses the DDTS-100 and plays the sounds directly from your soundcard to your speakers. However, if you have a dolby digital signal or a DTS signal coming from the computer, you can set the switchbox to Decoder-mode, the soundcard to SPDIF passthrough and digital out and the DDTS-100 will take the DD or DTS signal and send them to the corresponding speakers + light the DD or DTS on the main unit. Make sure to connect the soundcard with a coaxial cable, an analog output cannot send out encoded data streams. The DDTS-100 will decode the data information and send the sounds out to the correct channels. It will not do anything else. It is not made to do anything else. The best thing when listening to music and games is to do it in PC-mode using the analog outputs of the soundcard. You can, if you really really have to, play it in decoder mode and use either neo:6 or dolby prologic II on the main unit to upmix the stereo source.
AC-3 is not a music format. I doubt you will find any ac-3 encoded music files since mp3 or wma are the most common formats. Your best way of finding AC-3 material is on a DVD.
I think the best thing for you is to find out what the DDTS-100 is meant to do, and what it is not meant to do.

  • Connection DTT3500 Digital with DDTS-100. Pls Help me.

I want to connect my speakers (DTT3500) with the decorder DDTS-00. How to connect them and how to setup my system to play DTS. Please analyze. The soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS.
    Thank you in advance,
    Ilias

Unless I am terribly misinformed those speakers uses a digital connection. So there is no way to connect them to the DDTS unless they also accept analogue connections.
Though, please don't take my word for it since there might be some magical converter but I have never heard of such a thing.

  • Dolby Digital with DDTS-100

    Hi,
I recently just got HDTV and connected it to my DDTS-100 (which is connected to the Gigaworks S750). However, all channels which have 5.1 surround sound (confirmed with cable company - doesn't mean they aren't lieing/don't know what they're talking about) make the the DDTS-100 illuminate the Dolby Digital light (as expected), but also the "Stereo" light (making me think I'm only getting a 2.1 signal). The end result is that I only get sound out of the sub, FL and FR. If I use any of the matrix modes I "lose" all the voices (i.e. apparently no centre channel decoded).
I've tried hooking up the Gigaworks S750 directly to my 7.1 soundcard and all speakers work fine. I've also tried every combination of upmixing available on both the DDTS-100 and the Gigaworks S750. I've also tried using Optical and Coaxial sources from the HDTV box. I also have a GameCube which appears to work perfectly fine on the Pro-Logic mode.
Is there something special I need to do with the DDTS-100? Any way of confirming that the signal is in fact 5.1

    plz reply

  • Connecting creative inspire 6600 to the ddts-100 decoder

ok so i was sedused by the idea of getting a ddts-100 to my inspire 6600 speakers, but the fact is i need to know some information:
the first thing is:will i be able to connect my speakers to the decoder and then to the soundcard?
my speakers have only RCA jacks for the satellites to connect them to the amp,and the amp have 3 assebled wires,3.5mm ones...my soundcard have also 3 connectors for the speakers,no digital output or optical,..only 3 connectors for the 3.5mm...so will i be able to connect it and then will it be able to reproduce sound like it was doing before?
2-the decoder says it can decode dolby digital ex,dts es,i don't know if i am saying this right but, sometimes we say decoding in 24bits/96khz .....its the dvd quality right? then will the decoder DECODE the dvd source in 24bits/96khz or is it the job of the soundcard?
3-will the decoder improve the listening experience in quality or surround?in case of dvd playing i know it would, but in case of listening to music?

    shin8,
Are you getting proper output if you use the "TEST" button on the remote control?

  • Connecting ddts 100 to gigaworks 7.1 with audigy 2 zs

    Hello,
I know you have probably been asked this before, but how do you connect the ddts 100 decoder to gigaworks 7.1 speakers?
I have an audigy 2 zs card aslo.
I connected it as best as I could see from the instruction manual but the speakers are still controlled from the sudio pod you get with the spekers themselves, not the decoder.
Do I have to use the switch box? I think I am missing something really obvious but I dont know!
    help!

yep you need to use the switch box, and attach cables to both decoder and pc then use switch to decoder to alter volume with decoder and control pod.

  • Help connect X-fi Elite Pro with DDTS-100 and Gigaworks s750

    Hi,
I purchased a brand new Gigaworks s750 speakers system, DDTS-100 decoder and X-fi Elite Pro. I connected the DDTS-100 and Elite Pro using Optical Fibre output from the audio console of X-fi Elite Pro to the optical digital input of DDTS-100. With the cables supplied with s750, I connected it to the Decoder DDTS-100. The problem is I am not getting any sound from the rear speakers and the front speakers. Only the centre speakers and the side speakers are producing sound. I could hear loud hissing sound and very very low volume of the music from the front speakers and no sound from the rear speakers. I can hear good quality sound from the centre speakers and average quality sound from the side speakers. What could possibly have gone wrong with my setup ? Somebody please help me. Thanx in advance.

    Hi Richie,
Thanq for your response. But unlike what you have mentioned, ("what may be happining is the soundcard is decoding the signal and then the ddts is trying to decode it with disatrous results"), In my setup the signal is not getting decoded two times, once by Soundcard and once by the DDTS-100. As I have mentioned that I am taking out an Optical Signal from the sound card to the DDTS-100, the signal comming out from the sound card to the DDTS is Encoded signal only. So there doesnt arise a chance that the signal is getting decoded twice. Can you think of any other reason why my setup is not working? Please let me know.
    regards,
    Rahul M

  • Connecting to my T6060 5.1 speakers with a DVD player thru Decoder DDTS-100

Hi, I have a DVD player which has 2.1 audio output (left and right), a coaxial and an optical audio output. Can you tell me how to connect the creative T6060 (5.1) speakers with the DVD player. Can I connect the speaker with the DVD player with the decoder DDTS-100 to get 5.1 effect. Will the speakers would be working. Thanks,Jwell

Your speakers should have a cable with 3 plugs on the end (orange, green and black). That plugs into the matching sockets on the DDTS-100, and you set the switch to 5.1. Then you need a lead to connect the dvd and its up to you if its coaxial or optical. For coaxial you can use pretty much any phono to phono lead, which you may already have. Ive got a feeling the DDTS-100 comes with one of each anyway. Thats all there is to it.

  • DDTS-100 Decoder and Speaker Connections

    Hi,
I was thinking of purchasing the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 product, but I was just wondering if anyone could answer some questions about the connections on the back of the unit first.
I already have all the necessary speakers for a 5.1 setup including the Sub, however the connectors for all these speakers are of the two-wire variety (one red, one black), as opposed to the standard 'phono type' connector. Does the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 have the facility to accept the two-wire connection and if not, is there any way to convert the speaker cables into compatible formats for this device? Also, how do non-Creative speaker products WITH the Phono Type connector connect to the DDTS - from the pics of it I have seen, the surround speakers seem to connect via 3 cables on the back of the Switch Box? I'm lost!!
    Many thanks in advance!

I dont know if its said, but you need an amplifier for those speakers. The DDTS does not amplifies the signal, like those that came from Creative. The amplifier is in the sub's box.
Another thing that you need is the proper adaptor between de DDTS outputs (green, blak, orange) 3.5mm male to, whatever your amplifier uses.
In my case, i have trouble finding that cable or cables to convert to RCA. You can use 2 regular stereo adapters for the first 4 channels: green = Left and Right front speakers, black = Left and Right rear speakers.
For the other 3 channels (Center, Rear center, Sub) you can only use adapter, hence the difficulty. I tried with made for digital cameras (Left-white, Right-red, video-yellow) but it only work partially. I can't get sub from the yellow cable (the other 2 works perfect). I only get subwoofer sound when you preform noise test (from the DDTS).
    Anyone any idea?

  • Connecting DDTS-100 and Audigy 2 ZS

    Hello!
I have some problems with DDTS-100. My systen curently is: Creative S750, DDTS-100 and Audigy 2 ZS. I can't understand how this DDTS-100 is working. I try to coneect Audigy2 ZS to DDTS using coaxial connection, but when I done this DDTS sound only in Stereo mode. Is it OK. I can't tur on Dolby and DTS on it. Then I try to connect some radio uzing Anolaog input. When I uze Analog input I can Chose betven Stereo Dolby and DTS, But still I cant Switch on Dolby digital or differnet sound modes. And if I tur On Dolby or NEO6 then I don't hera sound from side speakers . I'm wery upsad. I can't Understand how this DDTS-100 is working...
    Pls give me some advice...
    Regards,
    RaimizA

Analog output on the soundcard --> DDTS-100 switchbox
    Switchbox --> DDTS-100 main unit
    Switchbox --> Speakers
Digital out on the soundcard --> Coaxial input on the DDTS-100 main unit
The digital output on the soundblaster can ONLY SEND OUT EITHER A PCM STEREO SIGNAL OR AN ENCODED DATA STREAM (AC-3). In order to make the DDTS-100 decode the data stream correctly you MUST have the software set to SPDIF passthrough and also have that set in the Audio HQ or the Audio console. Put the switchbox to decoder mode. The only way to light up the lights of the DTS and Dolby Digital is to feed the main unit with an encoded data stream of those sound formats. If you try to play anything and put it through the digital out that is not DTS or DD you are going to get... Stereo.
In order to get sound from the side speakers you must first set the switch on the back of the DDTS-100 main unit to 6.1/7.1 and set the upmix to 5.1-->7.1 or 6.1-->7.1 (depending on the source) on the main volume controller of the S750.

  • Creative inspire 5300 5.1 with DDTS-100

Hello i'musing these set of speakers for 2.6 years and now decide tobuy decoder DDTS-100 but there is a problem ca't connect them and creative labs are saying this decoder is compatible with all speakers from creative !!!
Any information how to connect will be wellcome many thanks
    Filipe Valente

Just connect them using your speaker audio cable from the decoder audio outputs jack to the speaker system audio inputs jack. The decoder user guide should also cover some simple guide for connection too which you can refer to.

  • DDTS-100 Decoder with Inspire 5500D 5.1 Speakers (DIN Problem!)

    Dear all,
I bought a DDTS-100 Decoder today, thinking it will improve connectivity and sound quality of my Inspire 5500D 5.1 Speaker System, but I have run into a bit of a problem. My system has a sub which every speaker is connected to and I have to have the DIN cable connected for controlling the speakers and sub but the DDTS-100 doesn't have a din slot so my speakers will not power on when connected to the ddts-100. Is there a way around this or will I have to take back my decoder. I hope there is a solution as I would be very thankful.
    Yours Thankfully,
    Kyle Hunt.

  • PC and DDTS 100 simultaneously

Hello,I have an actually simple problem I can't solve with out help...here it is:I want to connect my PC Soundcard (Creative X-Fi xtreme Music) and the Decoder DDTS-100 to my Soundsystem GigaWorks S750. I realized this through the use of the Switch Box accompanying the DDTS-100. But: With this box I only can choose between PC Audio and the Decoder, thus it's not possible to listen to both of them simultaneously. What can I do?

Hello everyone. I just responded to a post in 'speaker systems' regarding the S-750. Read that for more details.
Anyway, I have the DDTS decoder with the S-750. It really rocks!!!!! Better than most mid level home entertainment systems!!!
I have all the connections filled on the decoder (Analogue, optical etc. to various things) It is not connected to my computer. It is my home entertainment system. My setup is where I have all the device vollumes set to there highest levels including the S-750 and I use the decoder to manage vollume levels.
The only problems I have had so far are 2.1 Once the decoder turned off when I touched it (Static elec. I guess) The other was I turned it on and no sound came through. I cycled the optical selection and it came on.
How is everyone else doing? I had the system for about 3 months now.

  • I-Trigue L3500 with DDTS-100

    Can I combine DDTS-100 with speaker I-Trigue L3500?

    Vvien,
The DDTS-100 speakers are meant for use with 5.1 / 6.1 / 7.1 speakers. If you're connecting from a soundcard, connecting analog speakers would offer no benefits. It is possible though, but you'll only be using one of the connections that is available to go to speakers, but it's set up to output sound for 5.1 speaker (or more).

  • Centre channel problem with DDTS-100

I have a set of Gigaworks s750 speakers connected to my PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 via the DDTS-100 decoder; up until yesterday this was all working fine. Having moved some of the gear around to accomodate my new desk, I plugged everything back in and found that the sound from the front centre channel is muffled and/or quieter than the other channels.
The speakers themselves don't seem to be the problem as the PC (which is connected via the switch box included with the decoder) sounds fine but the problem persists with both the PS3 and X360.
My first thought was that I'd pulled one of the cables loose while rearranging the furniture but I've re-plugged everything in several times since with no joy. I've also tried changing the spdif cables and switching the sockets around, as well as removing the switch box and plugging the speakers directly into the decoder but nothing made any difference.
Has anyone ever encountered anything like this before and/or could offer any suggestions?
Any advice would be much appreceated.

I finnaly found out my problem
The buzz came out from my coax cable from my DVD. My DVD player was probably inducing 60Hz on the coax output.
I switched to the optical output and no more buzz.
I'll need to buy a new toslink cable to plug my x-box on the optical input #2
Also I pluged my TV audio out in my st analog input, it also induced a 60 Hz on my DDTS-100. The decoder does not seem to filter out electric noises.
I'm pretty happy to have found out my problem but I'm very dispointed that the DDTS-100 does not filter any electric noises.

  • What speakers work with the Creative Labs DDTS-100 Digital Decoder-Upto 7.1

what speakers do the Creative Labs DDTS-100 Digital Decoder-Upto 7.1 work with thanks

Unless the Digital 5500 speaker set has analog inputs it can't be used with the DDTS-100. You must connect the DDTS-100 to a speaker system through the analog outputs either from the main unit or the switchbox. I have not heard of any cables to convert analog audio into digital form so digital speakers can understand and play it.
The best speaker system? I have absolutely no idea dude. You must be the judge of that, if it is you who are going to listen to it. I like my S750 system but that is me. You have to read loads of info and reviews and preferably listen to them in a store if you can.
