Connectivity for BPM external custom UIs

Hi all,
I'd like to use the new PO feature of BPM tasks based on custom UIs deployed on external servers as documented on the help
Of course the application implementing the UI will be connecting to the BPM engine to fetch process data.
My question is related to connectivity the other way around:
does the BPM engine strictly need connectivity to the remote server where UIs are deployed?
In my understanding it should not be necessary since the url configured in http destination is only used by the user browser.
However I'm not sure whether it might be required for proper behavior or SSO.
Could anyone please assist?
Thanks, regards
Vincenzo

Hi Vincenzo,
Basically it boils down to access. Your BPM Server should have permission to access the Remote Server Destination. My guess would be that this HTTP destination should already be configured in your Server's NWA 'Destinations' settings.
The name which you define at the time of http destination setup, would be used inside the placeholders when you define the UI-URL while assigning the task.
So the name would be something like: "{name_of_http_destination_in_nwa_setup}/Relative-url"
Configuring the destinations would be somewhat similar to step#3 in this document.
Please let us know if you resolve this. Would be great to know something we haven't got a chance to try yet.
Cheers Mate.

  • I want to use the Thunderbolt connection for an external hard drive

    I want to use the Thunderbolt connection for an external hard drive - so what port would I use on the MacBook Pro 13" for the display monitor.  Thank you!

    This is not the forum for MacBook Pro owners.
    You just need to reformat the drive in Disk Utility and erase the drive and have  Mac HFS.
    If you did need to use NTFS then you would not want -3G but Paragon NTFS for OS X x. 10.0
    Or buy something that isn't pre-formatted to Windows NT file system.
    First though make sure you have backups of your system. TimeMachine being used now?

    Maybe cleanout some files you don't need.
    Install a larger notebook hard drive even.

  • Is it OK to use USB 2.0 connection for Glyph external drive and Mac Pro as project drive?

    Is it OK to use a USB 2.0 connection for Glyph external drive and Mac Pro as project drive? I was told by Sweetwater tech support to use Firewire, but both the FW400 and FW800 connections crash my audio interface software mixer (Presonus' "Universal Control" software).
    Both Firewire connections also create a 10 second hang for each Command-Save that I do.
    USB 2.0 for the external drive seems to be working so far, but is there some reason I should be wary of using this as my go-to project drive? In other words, I am imagining that there was probably some definite reason that the tech support guy mentioned not to use it. But maybe not. It's a brand new Glyph. In any event, it's nice to have the 10 second hang eliminated, and I was just looking for some advice, since digging into the Presonus software issue could take some time.

    If you have a mac pro, why not stick the external HDD inside via one of your many SATA cables & have it run 9 times faster than your USB?
    Or stick a HDD CADDY in your mac pro, so you can slot in a full sized 3TB HDD for recording, and when you are done, pull it out & slip it in an external enclosure if you need to take it places?

    Why would you want to spend $1700 on a SATA enclosure
    and then be "cheap" on the SATA host adapter to run
    it? This expensive 5 bay uses FW800 or SATA. Why not
    use FW800 if you don't have a SATA host adapter.
    I'm not trying to be cheap here. As I said, I have no PCI slots available. I use Pro Tools HD3 & all my slots are full. I will use FW800 if needed, but speed of SATA would be great.
    WiebeTech has a $59 SATA card with one port or
    FirmTek has a two port for $99 or a 4 port for
    $139.95. Get a external SATA host adapter with direct
    connect capability for this enclosure. Or if that is
    too much get a 5 bay Fusion 500P for $500 and a
    separate card. If you have a new PowerMac G5 made

  • Can the Airport Express connect wirelessly to a current modem and be the wireless connection for an external??

    I'm confused, I purchased the Airport Express and GDrive external hard drive at the Apple store. I already own a wireless modem that works fine (AT&T).  I want to extend the wireless signal to the downstairs where the office is and keep the Airport Express in the office (connected wirelessly to the modem upstairs) plugged into the new GDrive to make that wireless. I want the G Drive in the safe location of the office and that was the sole reason I purchased the Airport Express.  Is it possible??

    As I said, the USB port on the AirPort Express will not support a hard drive. It will only support compatible printers.
    If you want to connect a hard drive, you will need an AirPort Extreme.....not an AirPort Express. See this Apple comparison chart to confirm.  Might be a good idea to print it out and take it to the "genius" types.
           Compare Apple Wi-Fi base stations          AirPort Express    AirPort Extreme    Time Capsule
    But, even if you have an AirPort Extreme the chances that it would "extend" the wireless signal from an ATT router are about zero.

  • With YP2 I cannot listen to music when connected to an external monitor

    I am using the hdmi connection for my external monitor and when connected I cannot get any sound from my YP2. It works just fine when connected to a TV so I am assuming the sound signal has to be amplfied by the tv or receiver. A monitor typically does not have any sound amplification, I think, so my guess is this is the problem. I was hoping I could at least listen to music when earphones are plugged in, but I can't.
    Another minor problem I have using the YP2 connected to my monitor is I cannot get the full resolution of the monitor, I will update this thread with the actual montior (it is an Asus 27" professional grade monitor with something like  2500x1600 resolution, I cannot remember the actual numbers) model number. The best I can get with the YP2 is around 2000x1200.
    Gary

    I spent quite a bit of time with Lenovo support. They got on my computer remotely, replaced the display driver, and still the same problem. It appears the problem is the resolution can only be adjusted by increments. The highest was 3200x1800 and the next lowest was 2000x1500 and then 2000x1000 (I am rounding the last two). So the computer resolution defaults to the 2000x1000 resolution when hooked up to the external monitor.
    For all practical purposes this is fine. I rarely have to do any photo editing that is that critical and if I need the higher resolution I can edit with my desktop.

  • Connect external customer SolMan

    Dear Colleauges,
    as a VAR-customer we want to connect an external Customer-SolMan to our internal SolMan e.g. for replicating support desk messages. I know the scenario of connecting an external product to the SolMan service desk but in this case two SolMan should communicate among each other and our VAR-SolMan is used to forward messages to SAP.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Soon,
    Please do the following steps to use the smdsetup script to switch the connection type to saprouter support.
    1. Stop SMDAgent
    2. Open a command prompt / terminal window in the script directory of the SMDAgent (e.g. /usr/sap/SMD/J98/script) and enter these commands:
    a. smdsetup addsaprouter route:"/H/srhost"
    b. smdsetup saprouterpass pass:"srpw"
    3. If you use SP18, check the following troubleshooting section. The last property(smd.agent.connection.transport) must be added manually to the runtime.properties file. Starting with SP19, it is added automatically.
    4. start SMDAgent
    5. Go to Agent Administration to see if the agent is marked as connected (greentraffic light)
    >>>
    3.1.1 Troubleshooting
    double-check in runtime.properties
    (/usr/sap/SMD/J98/SMDAgent/configuration):
    smd.agent.connection.saprouter=/H/srhost
    smd.agent.connection.url=p4\://smhost\:50004
    smdserver.connection.interval=30000
    smdserver.connection.requiresAuthentication=true
    smd.agent.connection.transport=SAPRouter
    Check agent logs: P4.log, SMDSystem.log
    Important: A known problem may lead to periodic disconnects of the
    SMDAgent.
    Please check SAP Note 1348549 for a fix.
    Thanks

  • Minimum connection for external hard drive

    Hopefully this is the correct subdepartment for this question.
    I'm shopping for an external hard drive to which I'll be saving and storing movies and digital videos. The playback method will be a Powerbook G4 (15-inch FW800 1.5GHz) running DVD Player connected with composite cables to a TV -- any TV.
    I'm searching for best value in terms of GB per dollar in the 300GB range. There are so many variables, but I think connection type is biggest factor. Are the USB 2.0 drives fast enough for what I need or would FW800 be a more reasonable minimum? Are there other more important factors?
    2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   23"17"PB15

    Here's a portion of what I posted to a similar question. First, regarding FW400 vs FW800, if I were going to be reading data off a FW connection for immediate usage as you described, I'd want to use the fastest connection possible, FW800. From the other post....
    A Western Digital 320 gb external enclosure (USB/FW 400) goes for around $200. However, all have one year warranties.
    Another option, assemble your own, requires the hard drive and case: A 320 gb Western Digital, with a 5 year warranty, 7200 rpm ultra ATA interface (you can't use a serial ATA interface with a pre-Oct PB), cost for the drive around $140. They also make drives for a few bucks less with 3 year warranties. I prefer Western Digital drives over Seagate drives, as I've found them to run cooler.
    Add a Rosewill RX30 external case (includes power supply and USB/FW 400) $60. This brushed aluminum case looks like it was made to sit right next to our PB's (I've got one). You can see it at their web site at http://www.rosewill.com/product/product.aspx?productId=80 or also at Newegg at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817173003. So for $200, you can have a 320gb hard drive with a 3 to 5 year warranty, and a stunning case. If you want, the Rosewill case also comes with FW800 for another $35.
    Assembling it is very easy - you can read the directions on Rosewill's site at http://www.rosewill.com/RosewillSoftware/RX30_eng.pdf , for example. You disassemble the case by taking out 4 screws on the bottom of the Rosewill case, plug the included plug into the hard drive, secure the hard drive with 4 screws to the case, and reassemble it.

  • Servlets or EJB for Persistent external socket connections

    We have a Servlet that establishes a socket connection to another
    external server and sends and receives messages. We have the Servlet defined as pre-loaded when JRun starts.
    When JRun is started, the Servlet is started and connection is
    established with the external server. The problem is when a new message is being sent, the Servlet is instantiate again and the connection is stopped and restarted. We do a forward request from another Servlet to this.
    Am I totally misunderstanding Servlets because reading articles
    and books seems to indicate that I should create an EJB instead of a
    Servlet if you want a persistent connection.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    I assume then that your connection to the external server is achieved in the "init" method of your servlet. Therefore every time the servlet container is called upon to accesss your servlet, it instantiates it - thus a new connection will be being made each time.
    I would take out the connection properties from the init method. I.e. you only want it to happen once.

    I've been trying to set a custom resolution on my macbook air for an external monitor but the only options displayed are 1280x1024 and 800x600. How can I bring up more options? Thanks!

    Your Mac sets those resolutions (and the display NAME) based on the information your display provides when a query is sent at Startup. If those are the only resolutions shown, then your display has said that is all it can do.

  • How can I connect to MySQL external database

    Hello.
    I have a SAP system running in SQL Server 2003.
    I need to connect to external MySQL DB., to operate with this information in ABAP program.
    I have done the step necesary... I mean I go to DBCO transaction and configure the connection like this:
    DB CONNECTION --> AFIS
    DBMS --> MSS
    user name --> xxxxxx
    DBpass -->xxxxxx / xxxxxx
    Conn Info -->MSSQL_SERVER=192.168.1.233 MSSQL_DBNAME=alliance OBJECT_SOURCE=alliance
    I do a test program, when I do the statement CONNECT TO, sy-subrc 0 and connection = DEFAULT... I mean, with this form I cannot connect to MySQL Database...
    Can you help me to do this?? I think the problem it's the connection string in DBCO... but I'm not sure...,
    Would be possible to connect by MySQL ODBC??? I mean , installing the ODBC driver in my SAP server, and using this in ABAP Program??

    > It's for it, that when I go to DBCO... in DBMS ---... I can select Oracle, MSSQLServer, DB2... for this Databases..., exists the library (lib_dbsl)???
    yes, for all those databases exists the database interface library.
    > In resume:
    >  IT'S NOT POSSIBLE CONNECT TO MYSQL!!! ... I cannot believe it!!!...
    Well - as far as I remember there were some times ago efforts to port SAP applications to MySQL. That would explain why there's also a file "DDLMYS.TPL" created if you execute R3ldctl during a system copy - amongst DDL files for all other databases. I believe this was at the time MySQL was promoting SAPDB/MaxDB.
    MySQL is historically not a database engine for software, that requires transactional integrity; there were extensions to support that (InnoDB or others) and there was no customer demand in getting MySQL as engine for SAP applications. And only develop an interface to be able to connect to an external MySQL engine is not worth the effort.
    However, there is hope Some BusinessObjects applications also run with and against MySQL engines, depending on how the strategy to integrate those into the SAP software stack there may (or may not) be an interface for that database in the future.
