Connectivity issue; wait and wait and wait some more, no resolvement

Had connectivity issue with Hi Speed DSL, after long wait on phone, and had to call back an hour later, cust service phone rep said after resetting and refreshing modem it was okay but perhaps a tech should visit for investigate why I am continually having connectivity issues.  Said line may be unstable with phone/dsl connection.  OK, made appt for today from 8am to noon window....I dont know why it was called an APPOINTMENT because verizon didnt show or call. I waited 4 1/2 hours, then called and was told it may be 130 or 230pm, but the ticket is still open.  Isn't that nice?? Totally unacceptable..cancelled that apptment and asking who else has had this problem??  If anyone from verizon can respond , feel free.   Your chat sessions are long waits, the phone service is even longer and you are not replying to my email from the "contact us" box.   Guess its time to cancel service.

If your iPad works fine at the coffee shop and at an Apple Store, it's clearly not the problem so why would you implicate it? Everything you did rules it out as a potential cause.
I do not understand why Apple would recommend getting a cheap router. I tried the cheap router "route" too a while ago and eventually got an AirPort Extreme. Life has been good since. $50 wasted, not to mention the countless hours lost trying to get it to work right. Lesson learned. At least you only spent $30.
You are using Windows so I don't know of an appropriate utility to use, but if you can find the equivalent of iStumbler it may indicate the prevalence of competing wireless networks in your area. Wireless devices and the interference they present is increasing at an astounding rate. This could certainly explain your difficulties.
All iPads are small and their antennas will never be as sensitive as those in a wireless printer or desktop, so enjoying a strong wireless signal will always be more of a challenge for it. However, a range of 20 - 25 feet is not normal or tolerable.
Without an AirPort Base Station it will be difficult to diagnose what is wrong, but there is no reason to suspect getting another iPad will change a thing. Something is wrong with your wireless environment, and I can't help but suspect your $30 router is not helping.

    Apple has a rebuy and recycle program, but you won't get much for your old MBP from that program. Your best bet is to just sell it yourself (I used eBay) and use the money you get to buy your new computer.

    What were you syncing them to? Have you looked in the address book on your computer to see if they are still there? Were you ever syncing them to the address book on your computer? If not, they are most likely gone. You may be able to restore from an earlier backup, but contacts are meant to be synced with an address book or cloud service.

  • Checking if Date/Time is Available (and then some more)

    Okay, so I am stepping out of my as3 skill set here quite a ways and need some bookoo assistance (Flash 5.5). I am working on trying to come up with a way (an AIR desktop application, or web application) for the teachers on my campus to be able to assign students to a variety of detention types, dates/times with limited seating available.  I want the teachers to be able to input the student data and select a date/time or even multiple dates/times, then have the program check to see if there are any available seats remaining for that date/time.  If so, assign the student to that seat.  If not, display the next available seat's date for that time slot with the option to assign student to that date or choose another.
    I also want to be able to run a report that will tell me who is serving which detention, when (date/time) and in what room.
    I would also like teachers to be able to "re-assign" a student if they needed to for whatever reason, thus freeing a seat in the previous slot and filling a seat in another.
    I'm not quite sure where to start aside from the interface design (that I can easily handle). Does anyone know of a good tutorial (or a few) that could get me on my way to try to code all this?

    After trying to purchase a song I get a connectivty issue even after I am connected and can see my ID and how much money I have left to spend in my account.  I get the loging security screen and verified that, now it is that.  This has been going on for weeks and I have tried all of your suggestions on your website even doing all the diagnostics saying everything is fine.  I am frustrated and want to be able to use ITunes again. 
    Can anyone help with any usuable suggestions other than what I have already tried?

    I just purchased this movie on Thursday, May 15, so just a few days ago.  I have never had any trouble whatsoever since I have been in Vietnam.  I have downloaded several movies and even music and they have all synced to my respected Apple products except for this purchase. 
    Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by studios and different versions.  Could you please explain?

  • Nokia N8.. I am going to wait some time

    Hey guys,
    Not really complaining about anything here. I own a Nokia 5800 XM which I was today considering to sell and get me a brand new N8 but after a little home-work I came to realize that there's lots of people around here reporting problems of dead phones, being replaced by Nokia Care for another phone dying in a few days.
    I think I'm not willing to take the chances of getting a defective phone so I'm going to wait some more (new firmware updates) and maybe then get the N8 or something else depending on the market.
    My 5800 XM hasn't been without faults (charging socket started to fall off in just a few months and had to be totally replaced.. sometimes it restarts...) but it has never become a dead brick. To me, this is simply not acceptable and the number of complaints about this issue around are far too high I think.
    I've had other pieces of hardware equipment which have been labelled as rushed into the market but I've never seen such a big number of unfixable issue reports on an online forum.
    As some people sair, most users who write here are writing to complain so it's obvious that the overal feeling is negative whilst the happy users never write on support forums but again, even on other equipment forums (not just phones, but anything electronic) I have never seen such a recurrent issue being raised.
    Just my thoughts... peace to you all

  • BT Connection Issue

    I've recently moved home and have transferred my BT connection, however I cannot get a broadband connection.
    I've tried both the BT homehub (HH3) and my original router (Netlink) and neither can connect. I've changed the cable connecting the filter to the router and different ADSL filters.
    I've gone through the connection issue checklist and have checked the line using the online option (no fault detected). There are no faults detected in my area and I do not use McAfee.
    I've tried both my original username and password and the default one.
    The broadband helpline number (0800 111 4567) just leads me in circles, referring me back to the order confirmation menu (order completed on the 23rd).
    Is there something obvious I'm missing, or do I need to try harder to get hold of BT?

    It does sound like an authentication or misconfiguratuion somewhere, but there is nothing I can do as BT customer.
    If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to find the problem.

    This is the first time i am trying to install Aqualogic 6.5. Mu OS is W2003 and DB: SQL server 2005. I am having issue with JDBC database connection. According to installation guide i've crated a database user with 'sysadmin' role and set default database to 'alidb'.

  • Troubleshooting for RPC over https (Outlook Anywhere) connection issue

    RPC over https (ROH), well known as Outlook Anywhere, is more frequently used. Even in Exchange 2013, Outlook no longer connects CAS server via MAPI.
    In this thread, we will discuss about the troubleshoot checklist about the RPC over https (Outlook Anywhere) connection issue. In order to make it more logical, I’d like to divide the whole troubleshooting to the following processes:
    1. Client side to CAS side
    2. CAS side to MBX side
    [Issues between Client side to CAS side]
    In Exchange 2013, Outlook Anywhere is enabled by default. Different from this, Outlook Anywhere in Exchange 2007 and 2010 need to be manually enabled. Thus, please firstly check if the RPC over HTTP component has been installed:
    Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    Double-click Programs and Features.
    In the left pane of Server Manager, click Features.
    In the right pane, click Add Features.
    Check if the RPC over HTTP component has been selected.
    If the ROH connectivity issue only happens on certain users, the property MAPIBlockOutlookRpcHTTP can be checked: 
    Get-CASMailbox  name | fl MAPIBlockOutlookRpcHttp
    2. Confirm if Exchange server is blocked. Ping the Exchange server FQDN on client machine and confirm if it can return the proper IP address.
    3. Check if the RPC Proxy server is responding correctly:
     rpcping -t ncacn_http -s ExchServer -o RpcProxy=RPCProxyServer -P "user,domain,*" -I "user,domain,*" -H 2 -u 10 -a connect -F 3 -v 3 -E -R none
    If 200 code returns, the test is successful.
    4. Check if Outlook Anywhere host names are added in the certificate:
    To get host names, the following command can be used: get-outlookanywhere |fl *hostname
    5. To use the Shell to test Outlook Anywhere connectivity, use the
    Test-OutlookConnectivity cmdlet.
    [Issues between CAS side to Mailbox side][RZ1] 
    A. Check if it can connect to store’s port:
    RpcPing –t ncacn_http –s ExchangeMBXServer -o RpcProxy=RpcProxyServer -P "user,domain,password" -I "user,domain,password" -H 1 –F 3 –a connect –u 10 –v 3 –e 6001
    If it returns as following: Completed 1 calls in 60 ms  16 T/S or 60.000 ms/T, it means the RPC Ping Utility test succeeds.
    B. Check if it can Connect to DsProxy Service:
    RpcPing –t ncacn_http –s ExchangeMBXServer -o RpcProxy=RpcProxyServer -P "user,domain,password" -I "user,domain,password" -H 2 –F 2 –a connect –u 10 –v 3 –e 6004
    If it returns as following: Completed 1 calls in 60 ms  16 T/S or 60.000 ms/T, it means the RPC Ping Utility test succeeds.
    C. Check the following registries:
    [Disable the auto update]
    1).Open Regedit and navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeServiceHost\RpcHttpConfigurator\RpcHttpConfigurator
    2).Set the PeriodicPollingMinutes value to 0.
    [Check the RpcProxy ValidPorts]
    1).On the RPC proxy server, start Registry Editor (Regedit).
    2). In the console tree, locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy
    3). In the details pane, right-click the ValidPorts subkey, and then click Modify.
    4). In Edit String, in the Value data box, type the following information:
    ExchangeServer :6001-6002; ExchangeServerFQDN :6001-6002; ExchangeServer :6004; ExchangeServerFQDN :6004
    Note:
    ExchangeServer is the NetBIOS name of your Exchange server. ExchangeServerFQDN is the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of your Exchange server. If the FQDN that is used to access the server from the Internet differs from the internal FQDN, you must use
    the internal FQDN.

    D. Check if the RPC ports are used by other applications instead of Exchange by using : netstat –o
     Then it will return all active TCP connections and the process ID (PID) for each connection.
     After that, please check the application based on the PID on the Processes tab in Windows Task Manager and confirm if it’s Exchange server.
    Additionally, ExRCA is a perfect tool to test the whole connection between client side and Mailbox side:

    I've just restored the M11 to Windows XP with the disks provided and Outlook Anywhere connected without issue. As strange as it sounds, this looks to be isolated to this particular model of laptop and Windows 7.
    I've used the same Enterprise copy of Windows 7 and Office on a variety of laptops and pc's and none have come across this problem. The only commonality I can see is the hardware and OS.
    Aftery trying to troubleshoot this unsuccessfully with Microsoft tech support for a few hours, they eluded to the fact that this +could+ be a hardware related problem. (driver, adapter properties, etc)

    I downloaded the 1.2 Go file, and applied it. And repaired permissions.
    Everything went fine.
    Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem.
    Meaning that when iMac wakes up, it doen't join my WiFi network.
    I have to do it manually.
    I don't know what to do : it is very strange because I never had that problem with OS 10.7.2 !
    And my network setup has never changed.

    I noticed that in the network setup screen, when I want to close the little lock to restrain further modifications, it won't close. Weird !

    Well, of course, you probably can't eliminate this sort of thing entirely: a setup such as yours is inevitably a compromise. What you can do is make sure your log buffer is a good size (say 10MB or so); that your redo logs are large (at least 100MB each, and preferably large enough to hold one hour or so of redo produced at the busiest time for your database without filling up); and finally set ARCHIVE_LAG_TARGET to something like 1800 seconds or more to ensure a regular, routine, predictable log switch.
    It won't cure every ill, but that sort of setup often means the redo subsystem ceases to be a regular driver of foreground waits.

    You'll can try to sign in with the ID they were purchased under in Settings > iTunes and App store and downlaod them. If not, you'll have to purchase them under the new ID.
