Connectivity issues - Bridge CC to Photoshop CC - Image Processor issues.

Hi guys.
I'm having issues with Image Processor between Bridge CC and Photoshop CC. I can see in the forums that others are having issues that are close to mine but not the same. I can still see my image processor tab in my Tools menu.
The problem is that I can click the Image Processor tab and it will bring Photoshop CC to the front of all windows, act like its loading, and then nothing happens from there. The run script box doesn't come up, nothing opens.
I was wondering if anyone else has come across this and if so how you fixed it.
Thank you

I'm having the same result when I run image processor from Bridge. Image processor looks like it's about to open, the wait cursor displays (Photoshop CC will open if it's closed), but then when focus switches to Photoshop, nothing happens.
A few months ago when I tried to upgrade to PS CC 2014 I had the same problem, which was only fixed when I removed all Adobe apps and re-installed CC and Bridge with no PS CC 2014. This might fix your problem if you re-install and only use a single version.
Currently I have both versions of Photoshop installed again as I need the linked smart object functionality of 2014 but I also need my library of extensions in Photoshop CC. (Really frustrating switch to HTML5 only, by the way Adobe)
Does anyone know if there is any way to have both versions of Photoshop installed AND have scripts fire off from Bridge?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Image Processor not converting files to sRGB Profile

I have been experiencing a problem with Photoshop CS3 Image Processor no longer converting profiles to sRGB.   It converts all of the files from Camera Raw to JPEG, but not sRGB as well.  I used to be able to batch convert an entire folder of RAW images to JPEG, sRGB through the Image Processor.
My Photoshop CS3 Working Space is Adobe RGB (1998).  I need to convert an entire folder of images selected in Bridge to sRGB working space in order to publish a photo album from one of the on-line publishing companies.  I can open each individual Camera Raw file in Photoshop and convert each to JPEG, sRGB, but this takes a tremendous amount of time.
The following procedure has worked for me in the past, but for some reason no longer works:
I select the images in the desired Bridge CS3 folder.  Upper tool bar, "Tools" > "Photoshop" > "Image Processor".  In Image Processor:
Section 1 - ""Process files from Bridge only (11)"  Whether or not I place a checkmark by "Open first image to apply settings", it makes no difference in the outcome.
Section 2:  "Save in same location"
Section 3 - "Checkmark by "Save as JPEG, quality 12".  Also a checkmark by "Convert Profile to sRGB"
Section 4 - Checkmark by "Include ICC Profile"
I replaced my iMac one month ago and reinstalled Photoshop CS3, but this Image Processor problem had been occurring even with my old computer.
Not sure if you need this information:
I'm currently on Mac OS X Version 10.6.4
Processor:  2.93 Ghz Intel Core i7
    Memory:  8 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
I don't know if it's related,  Photoshop CS3 on my old computer was running in Rosetta.  I don't know if it's running in Rosetta now, the name does not appear when Photoshop boots up.  How do I get it to run in Rosetta again?

Heh heh heh.  It's always true that we find the answer just after making public our problems, which in turn we did after trying to find the problems ourselves for hours.
Thanks for following up with the answer.

  • Weird image processor issue in CS4

All of a sudden this week, both of my computers stopped being able to image process via bridge > ps.
    Repro steps:
    1. Select RAW image(s) in Bridge.
    2. Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor
    Expected results:
Image processor dialog opens in PS
    Actual results:
Window switches over to PS, but nothing happens.
    Anyone else see this?

Suggest to check the files you used. If the files contain duotone or multichannel mode, then the message "Sorry, I could not process the following files" will appear.

  • Photoshop CS4 Image Processor Stopped Working

My workflow consists of tagging photos in Bridge then using Photoshop actions via the Image Processor from the Bridge tools>photoshop menu.  All the sudden it stopped working, the image processor box doesn't pop up anymore.  When choosing a folder manually through Photoshop, it says Sorry I Can't Complete The File...... (like it always says when it's successful) but nothing processes.  I have reset all the factory settings.
    OSX 10.5.8 w/ Adobe Suite CS4
I need to get this project finished today rather than wasting my whole weekend doing manual actions on nearly 2000 photos for the next week straight.  This process has been successful for the past 3 years.
Thanks so much in advance for your time.

That must have been an ungodly degree of nesting.
The Image Processor is actually a plug-in script, written by Russell Brown.  If you like it, you should try Dr. Brown's Services 2.0.2 (for CS4; for CS5 there's a later beta version available) by the same author and also free.  It's like the Image Processor on steroids.  I haven't used the latter for years, since installing Dr. Brown's Services.

  • Photoshop CC - Image Processor

I loaded Photoshop CC, now when I try to use the Image Processor from Bridge, nothing happens. It's as if they are not linked. How do I fix this?

    Bridge CS6  5.0.2.4 x64, Photoshop CC 2014.2.1 x64
Bad Combo Bridge CS6 would want to use Photoshop CS6 if Photoshop CC was up and running on a windows machine CS6 would not sart for Adobe only lets one version of Photoshop to run at a time on Windows.   If you were on a mac CS6 would open and there would be two versions of Photoshop up and active.

  • Photoshop CS3 - Image Processor; default Grayscale: Size Ratio prompt

I have just installed Photoshop CS3 and need to use the Image Processor to convert a batch of PCX (14,000 of them) images to JPG. When kicking this process off it does not run automatically as I get a prompt for each file asking me to input the Grayscale; Size Ratio.
Is there anyway I can disable this prompt so the Image Processor simply converts all the files in the directory specificed. If it's mandatory can I default it anywhere. Having to keep clicking Ok for 14000 files is going to be very time consuming.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Ok, so it looks like what I am after can be achieved, but I am still having problems.
In your last email one of the first instructions was "start recording an action" - how do I do this? Or is it an automatic feature?
When following the steps you provided and using the Automate > Batch option I get the errors,
"Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found"
    and then....
"There were no source files that could be opened by Photoshop"
Am I doing something blatantly wrong?

  • Date of creation problem after making Bridge create TIFs with PS Image Processor.

I went through about 100 files and did what I wanted in Camera RAW (started out with NEFs). Thereafter I had Bridge make TIFs of all the files in the folder using the PS Image Processor.
Now, looking at the TIF folder in Bridge, I find that about 80 of them has a wrong creation date (I checked the Preferences and I have asked for the date of creation - and not the date of modification). As I watch (several minutes) Bridge changes some of the dates to the ones known to me to be correct - but not all. If I close Bridge, restart Bridge and open the folder again the same happens, i.e. it starts all over. Even stranger is that the Windows Pathfinder have problems with the same files - i.e. does not show the date of creation at all.
The date of these 80 files are all the same - and they have been edited over several days!
I have done a lot of work on those files and would hate to start all over. I checked and of course the dates are the original in the RAW folder that I started out with.
I am sure that I do not have any bugs in my PC.
Can I remedy this i any way? I hate to have wrong dates on my files.
What can I have done to cause this? Can anyone help me? Thanking You in advance.
    Git

    Thank You again.
Yes, I have also purged the cache. More than once and again this morning. It does not change the result. Bridge still goes from the date January 13th 2013 to the correct date of creation when I look at the separate thumbnails - and back again when I scroll down the page and subsequently scroll up again!
Thus it seems that Bridge knows the date that the camera set but somehow this foolish January date keeps coming back.
All the folders with NEFs have correct dates - also the ones where I have imported the files from camera to pc in 2013! Only my TIFFs have this problem.
Rigth now I am having Norton 360 run a complete system scan. When that is done I will inactivate Norton (I know that I cannot have 2 antivirus softwares and firewalls run simultaneously on the PC) and instead run a complete scan with Lavasoft Adaware Pro. I have also used Norton Utilities and found no problems. Plus Malwarebytes Antimalware and Superantispyware. No problems.
If "date file created" is the date that the file was modified, it would not help me much. I often go back to a file and play with it again and if I have understood correctly, then this date would change again. I want to see the date of capture ("date created"). Also, by now the problem afflicts at least 1000 files. It would be impossible to do single file manual corrections of dates on so many files.
Update: While I have been writing this, an opened folder with only 36 files has changed the dates to the correct date of capture. I could also scroll up and down without the dates changíng in this small folder. But when I closed Bridge, restarted it and looked at the folder again Bridge again did need minutes to get all the dates rigth. Maybe I have a pc capacity problem instead of a software problem? But why on earth would this specific wrong date result from a too weak pc.?
Maybe I should just give up and reinstall PS?
Sorry if I trouble You with a ridiculous problem.

  • Photoshop Scripts/Image Processor / Action Error

    CS3:
My image processor has been working just fine with this action.. but for some reason out of the blue it says "sorry I could not process files:" and lists all the files that was processed. now its funny because it works just fine, the action is applied and it saves just fine but it doesn’t close the current window any longer and it gives that error.
the action is pretty complex but it only copies and rename layers and applies one filter.
again it worked just fine not too long ago.. I'm not sure what happened...
here is a copy of the action ... it uses portraiture plug-in filter in the beginning...

    any help would be great!
    Thanks!!

Contact Adobe support, you hit a bug. I never seen that one pop up before.
But in general what it is saying is it is trying to create a window and to do so it needs to reference a constructor.
That constructor should have been automatically created or a programmer creates one from scratch, that depends on how the code was created. Since that bug normally does not appear, I would say a some code pointed to the wrong location in memory hence the word reference. (In generic terms reference means to point to a location in memory)
Try it again and see if it repeats itself. I think Adobe will tell you that you need to reinstall photoshop, but its better that they tell you that as I could easily be misinterpreting that error message.

  • Photoshop CC - Image scaling issue

One of my team members is running latest of Ps CC on a Windows PC, and every time she needs to scale down an image it pixelates, is this a known problem? Does anyone have a fix for this?

Thank you for finally clarifying, azcreativ!
I hadn't even realized that your screen shots were actually your before-and-after images of your image.  First because I saw no pixellation anywhere, as I still don´t see any such pixellation in your images at all.
Sure, your re-sized image looks like cr@p, but that's because of massive blurriness and plain image deterioration from the indiscriminate Ctrl+T manhandling/resizing.
For what true pixellation looks like, check out the right-hand side owl in my screenshot in #5 above.
My interpretation of your screen shots was that you were attempting to show some.
Free Transform (Ctrl+T) is NOT REMOTELY "the same as " the Image Size" menu item looks like or does, unless you know exactly what options to choose, which I suspect your coworker does not.  She's probably dragging the selection corners immediately, rather than setting the appropriate parameters, otherwise you would have mentioned that—my aplogies if I just missed that information.
Just  look at the alternatives there:
That's where the boggling of the mind comes in upon learning you were instead using Free Transform.
Now considering the screen shot you are resizing, especially if you save your screen shots as JPEGs.  You are starting out with a low-res image at the ppi resolution of your/her monitor (provided the image was being displayed at 100), probably the lowly, outdated 72ppi standards, 100% at best if that's what your/her monitor resolution is.
Then you bring out the Ctrl+T shortcut brute and you proceed to mangle your image!  What can you expect?
Try to see if she can start out by displaying the dialog boxes to be captured at 100%, then re-sizing using the Nearest Neighbor (preserve hard edges) option.
Also keep in mind that down-sampling by 50%, 25% and 12% gives you the least objectionable.
    Good luck!

  • Lightroom JPEG export VS Photoshop Image Processor

    Hey guys:
Long time photoshop and lightroom user (long time user of all things Adobe). First post here in the forums. I did a search for my question but I think it was too specific, so it returned zero results.
My question is about Lightroom's JPEG export vs Photoshops Image Processor. When I export a RAW file to JPEG from Lightroom, the file size is freaking huge. The JPEG is as big as my original RAW file (~25mb). Settings are set to default - 100 quality. Everything else remains untouched.
However, when I use Photoshop's image processor (I launch it through Bridge, easier that way for me) and process the RAW images that way, my JPEGs are roughly 5-10mb in size. Settings in Image Processor are quality 10 and thats it. No actions being run or anything.
Can anyone shed some light as to why Lightroom exports JPEGs that are roughly 2-4 times the size of Photoshop's JPEGs? My initial thoughts are that the 100 quality setting in Lightroom is more like Photoshop's quality 12 (that always makes me think of Spinal Tap - "Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?" "These go to eleven.") Ideally, exporting out of Lightroom would be much easier for my workflow.
    Thanks in advance.

You are correct: LR Quality 100 = PS Quality 12
Despite LR having 101 Quality settings (0 to 100) it actually only has 12 Quality settings the same as PS 'Baseline Standard':

I keep a small copy of the above table taped to my monitor. I chose the numbers under the 'LR' column for the 12 steps (not AA's) to make it easier to remember. In actuality ANY number in the LR Range column will produce the same results for each step.
Under the 'Typical Reduction' column notice the small amount of reduction for PS 6 (LR 47-53%) Quality setting. If interested why AND why you probably shouldn't use PS 7 (LR 54-61%) Quality setting see this post:

  • Bridge CS6 with Photoshop CC?

Due to problems I'm having with Bridge CC I'd like to use Bridge CS6, but when using Image Processor from Bridge CS6 it launches PS CS6 (even if PS CC is already open). Is there a way to direct Bridge to use PS CC 2014 instead?
I'm on a Mac running Mavericks.

I think the problem is actually in Bridge>Prefrences>Startup Scripts.
There I have the option to allow applications to communicate with CS 6 (otherwise Image Processor wont work) but not CC.
Is it possible to insert a PS CC 2014 Startup Script in there? Where would I find it and where would I put it?

  • Image processor script

    Hi everyone,
I just tried using Photoshop's image processor script to convert a folder of .ai files into .tiff files. When it finished running though, I noticed that the physical file size of each image was really tiny, ie. not the same as the original .ai file. For example I had an A4 sized .ai file and it ended up being only about 2cm in width after being converted to a .tif.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
    Any advice appreciated.

It is a long-ish Script, but at a glance it does not seem to be intended for use on ai-files.
There are a couple of other Image Processor-style Scripts available, but I’m not sure they make provisions for that case.
Maybe you should ask over at

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 not opening Photoshop Image Processor

I selected one, four, and multiple pictures in Bridge to reduce the file size of jpgs. I went to Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor. Nothing happened. Photoshop did not open. That got me to thinking that sometimes while I am in Photoshop Bridge won't open either. Any ideas on resolving issue of "Bridge not opening Photoshop Image Processor" would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Curt Y, Everything is checked in the "Startup Scripts," including Bridge (twice) and Photoshop (twice). Not sure why duplicate entries but there are.
If you mean that you have two of the same versions (both CS3) in there that indicates there is something wrong with your install
If you have any suggestions regarding being able to access the Image Processor to resize pictures and such without first opening Photoshop, I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, the work around will have to suffice.
My first goal would be to reset the preferences for both PS and Bridge and then try again
see also this KB document, section preferences reset:

And inhere also info on how to retrieve your path for cache to manual delete it.

  • Bridge to Photoshop Image Processor won't run

    I'm using Photoshop CS3 Extended - V 10.0.1 and Bridge V 2.1.1.9
I'm trying to run some photos through Image Processor via Bridge. After selecting all of the photos, selecting Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor, Photoshop opens, but the Image Processor doesn't run.
I've tried processing other photos in other folders and it works fine. Then I tried processing the problematic folder on a different computer with no luck. There just seems to be an issue with this group of photos.
I check the information on the photos and they're not locked or anything. I'm not sure what else to do. Any ideas?

Try run the Image Processor directly from Photoshop menu File->Scripting. See if you can select the folder and run the processing.
What is the special with that folder? such as size, permission, special name or special file?
