Connecton between Yoga 13 and home theatre?

Hello there. I am trying to connect my Yoga 13 (I3) with sony dvd home theatre system dav - DZ740 with HDMI cable, but no sound there. I want sound to be on the home theatre system when it is connected. Do you know how to resolve the problem?

What is difference between air play and home sharing when wanting to show photos on HD tv through apple tv?  Just bought Mac book air and apple tv.

You would have to use home-sharing if streaming from a computer. Computer would need to be on and running iTunes.

  • PC and Home Theatre Hookup....need advice

)PC and Home Theatre Hookup....need adviced Ok, I'll try not to sound so illiterate......
I am in the process of connecting my PC to my home theater setup and have the following:
. The computer has the X-Fi Platinum Fatality card with the I/O Bay
    2. The A/V receiver is the Sony STR-DG70...it has the Optical and Coaxial digital inputs and it does have the dts logo
    3. Polk Audio 5. speakers connected to receiver
    4. The Creative Home Theater Connect DTS-60
    Now the questions:
. Could I have just used the Flexijack connection on the card running to receiver digital optical input? I am not using the I/O 3/2" bay that came with the card....don't have an extra bay to install in the new case?
    2. Could I have just used the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module from the Flexijack connection on the card?to receiver digital optical input?
    3. Or do I need to use the Creative Home Theater Connect DTS-60? And if so is the Optical connection the best of the two?
Thanks so much for any help,
    Kenny

    - This will fit your "flexi-jack" when connecting to optical sources........

  • Connecting computer and home theatre to insignia TV

I just bought a denon home theatre surround sound.  I have my insignia TV connected to my XBOX, blu ray, and computer.  Is there some way I could connect all these things to my TV and have them play through my surround sound?  Basically can I use my free HDMI port to play all these things through my surround sound?

    You have two options here...
You can do an all HDMI connection using your Denon receiver as a hub, or you can go all sources via HDMI straight to the TV using and optical out connection back into your Denon receiver set.
The computer may make the Denon connection problematic.

  • Randomy  connection switches between 3G, EDGE, and home WiFi

I'm working on a Calibre/Stanza connection between my iPhone and my laptop so I can read my .lit/.mobi/.txt/.pdf/.etc ebooks all on one device: the iPhone. It's a portability and convenience thing.
However, the connection between the two devices and their respective apps will only work over WiFi.
My iPhone will connect to the home WiFi, alongside the laptop, no problem, but then randomly switch to 3G when I load various apps. It actually matters with the Calibre/Stanza thing because both devices must be on the same WiFi.
I turned off 3G. The phone now switches to EDGE whenever I load the Stanza app. There doesn't appear to be a way to turn off the EDGE option in the iPhone settings.
How do I give my phone no place to go but the WiFi? How do I turn off the EDGE bit?
Both Calibre(laptop) and Stanza(iPhone) seem to be in otherwise perfect working order.

You cannot force the iPhone to use 3G. While you can force it to use EDGE by toggling off 3G, your iPhone will automatically drop down to EDGE when it cannot get a good 3G connection. If you want to use only WiFi, simply place it in AIrplane Mode. Note that while in Airplane Mode you cannot receive calls or text messages.

  • Difference between downstream speed and Home Hub 4...

Using a number of speed checkers I am getting a downstream speed of approx 7mb to my router but only 1.9mb from my home hub4 to my devices. This is irrespective of whether I connect to my router by cable or wireless. I have reset my router and have disconnected all telephone cables from their sockets for about 40 minutes before reconnecting and resetting the router. Any suggestions as to why this should be and how I can improve this?

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Home Theatre Recei

I'm having trouble getting my Audigy 2 ZS to pass a multi-channel signal to my Digital Recei'ver. I have the Digital Dongle that you guys sell and I have it connected to the Coax in on my Denon Dolby Digital/DTS receiver, but sound only comes out of the front right and left speakers, nothing else. How do I get the soundcard to pass the multi-channel audio from a game or DVD to the receiver, so that it'll play a DD/DTS signal?

    Bisk,
When you are playing music/games through a coaxial/optical SPDIF connection, then that is normal. Those types of connections can only pass over either a stereo PCM signal, or an encoded stream.
You can find more information on this page:
    http://us.creative.com/support/kb/ar...p?l=2&sid=4438
If you're playing a DVD it should work fine, as the signal you're passing through is AC3 (encoded stream). Just make sure you set the audio option (for the decoder) on the card to Passthrough, and the same for the DVD playback software.

  • How to connect Apple TV to DVD blu-ray home theatre

Hi guys, I am planning to buy Apple TV2 and I was wondering is there setup guide for connecting to HDTV and home theatre system. I currently have LG HDTV and LG DVD Blu-ray Home Theatre. They are connected with HDMI 1.3 cable and I had to get optical cable to get sound from TV to Home theatre.
How is Apple TV fits into that? I have 1 HDMI slot free on TV and 2 HDMI inputs on DVD system.
I was thinking just to connect Apple TV to DVD via HDMI? Would that put sound on home theatre system?
    Thank you in advance.
    ddrasko

You have read home theatre manual about playing sound from external device.
You doesn't need to connect home theatre to tv at all as you have get video from apple tv.
Connect video output from apple tv to tv(may carry sound along) and optical cable from apple tv to home theatre.
That will do. You can mute sound of tv(in case hdmi carry sound along) or using other function(on samsung ) and hear from home theatre sound from speakers.

  • Home Theatre question

    Hello!
I need to know what is needed to hook up my computer with Xtreme Gamer to my 42" LCD TV. The TV? has a Sony 5. surround with RCA hookup. I don't want to buy a computer-speaker system.
I heard you can get 3.5mm to RCA coversion cables, but will this work? Most cables I see are a single 3.5mm to two RCA.
    Please help out a noob!!

You would use all the output jacks on the back of your sound card IF you were connecting it directly to a set of 7. surround sound speakers designed specifically for computers. The difference between computer speakers and home stereo speakers is that computer speakers are self-powered, meaning just how it sounds. You'll notice on desktop computer speakers they have a power cord tha runs to them. Any amplification happens independently of the sound card or computer that they're connected to. Where a home stereo speakers are powered by the amplifier or receiver that they're connected to. Home stereo speakers (except some powered subwoofers) only have a left and right chanel wire going to each one, and no power cables. Any amplification is done by the amplifier/tuner/receiver, not by the speakers.
Sorry, I got off track a little bit.
So, you would connect your 3.5 phono plug to one of the outputs on your sound card. (Generally, the green one is the one to use for a single cable. Not always, but usually.) Then, find an empty input on your Sony receiver. Red goes to red, the other color to the other color. Some use black, some use white. But they all use red. (Because the R in Red goes with the R in Right. Makes it easy to remember.)
Then, you can either use the virtual 3D settings in the Creative Console to adjust your listening preferences, or use whatever controls your Sony receiver has to adjust the sound how you like it.
This won't give you true surround sound, though. If you want true surround sound, you either need to buy/borrow/steal a set of 7. or 5. surround sound computer speakers, or your Sony receiver needs to have RCA inputs for front left/right, rear left/right, center, and subwoofer.
Usually, home stereo receivers won't have that many inputs for surround sound. They'll use a single optical input. But your sound card doesn't have an optical output, so that doesn't help anyway.
The single cable connection is easy though. And it's cheap...that cable should be under twenty dollars, maybe even under ten dollars. Try it and see how you like it. Unfortunatly, if you're like most people, you're going to have parents/room-mates/a wife/children/neighbors who don't want to hear the gunfire and explosions of Call of Duty at two in the morning, and you'll end up using a headset anyway.

  • How do I stream iTunes content to my home theatre using any combination of a MacBook Pro, an iPhone 4s, and a PS3 using only a LOCAL network?

I have found many solutions to this problem assuming home internet access, but I only have access to the internet via my iPhone. I do not want online capability in my PS3. All I want to be able to do is control iTunes on my MacBook, and hear/view the content on my home theatre. I would prefer to use my iPhone as the remote for iTunes, and do not want to add the monthly cost of home internet to this equation. I do not require access to anything on my MacBook except iTunes in this application. I would prefer to use iTunes and stream to my home theatre, as opposed to setting up my MacBook as a media server and using the PS3 interface. Is this possible? Can I accomplish this goal using a local network? Can I create a wifi network on my MacBook to do this, or do I need a router? I am looking to spend as little as possible on this project, as I plan on moving to a more urban area soon, and will be buying Apple TV and subscribing to home internet service when this happens.

Get an AirPort Express.  It has an audio out which you can connect to the line-in on your home theatre system.  All the other devices will talk to the AirPort Express and stream content to it via wi-fi.

  • How to set up a home network between an iMac and Apple TV

I have an iMac running Snow Leopard connected by Ethernet cable to the internet via a wireless-capable modem running at 5mbps.
I want to network it to an Apple TV connected to my HDTV by an HDMI cable so I can run Netflix.  The TV is on the first floor at the back of the house.  The modem is on the third floor at the front of the house.  I estimate the distance between them to be about 65ft.  The set-up is such that it would be difficult to bring the two closer together.
Could you please advise me the best way to set this up?  My concern is the distance from the modem to the Apple TV.  Would Airport Express used as an extender be needed and/or enough to link the two (this could be positioned approximately half-way)?  Or is there some other way to achieve the desired hook-up?
I'm elderly and digitally challenged, so will need rather explicit step-by-step help !!!
    Many thanks.

I have an iMac running Snow Leopard connected by Ethernet cable to the internet via a wireless-capable modem running at 5mbps.
What is the make & model of this wireless-capable modem? If it is not an Apple product, then extending it with an AirPort Express (at least not by wireless) will not work.
Assuming that it is not an Apple product, then the only other choice would be to connect the Apple TV by Ethernet. However, I can certainly understand if Ethernet is not desireable or practical ... so an alternative to that would be to use Powerline adapters. These adapters take advantage of your home's electrical circuit to create a pseudo Ethernet one. You would then need at least two of these adapters to be placed at the locations of the wireless modem and the Apple TV. Each adapter would be connected to an electrical wall outlet and a short Ethernet cable would run between the adapter and the device (modem & Apple TV) to complete the circuit.
