Connectors not jumping in Visio 2013

I can't find any information specific to Visio 2013 on this, so I am asking.
The only connector type that "jumps" seems to be the "dynamic" connector (misleading name as it's not dynamic at all).  Is it possible to get the other connectors to jump/arc over each other?
I've gone into the global settings, changed it to "straight", changed the arc size, and numorous things with no luck.

right-click page tab -> Page Setup -> Layout and Routing
and look at the Line Jumps section.
There's nothing Visio 2013 specific about this, it's stayed the same at least since Visio 200, just the way to get to it has changed from the File menu to the new ribbon GUI.

  • Acrobat 11.0.10 Addin in Visio 2013

The Acrobat Addin is not visible in Visio 2013. The goal is to use the Addin to generate high quality PDFs. I already tried the following:
    Reinstalling Visio 2013
Reinstalling Acrobat 11 with the full-installation option
Checking the registry for the load behavour of the plugin > Visio does not have an option for Addin load behaviour, since HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Visio is not existent. There is no option for the load behaviour in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Visio, the only folder that exists with the name 'Visio'.
Adding the Addin manually within Visio > the Addin does not get added, if the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll is selected. Visio does not show any reaction.

  • Visio 2013 & Equation Editor 3.0 = Blurred Equation

My OS is Windows 8.1 Update 1. My PowerPoint is 2013 with SP1. My Visio is 2013 with SP1.
I have a PowerPoint file. It contains a Visio object. The Visio object contains some drawings and some Equation Editor 3.0 objects. The Equation Editor 3.0 objects are very clear in the original PowerPoint file. But if I open the PowerPoint file, right-click
the Visio object and edit it by Visio 2013, go back to PowerPoint, then the Equation Editor 3.0 objects will become blurred! Please see this video for the demonstration:
    http://1drv.ms/1r2GanG
I downgraded only Visio from 2013 with SP1 to 2010. The problem was solved. So, the blurring problem could be a Visio 2013 bug. If it is, please fix this bug, Microsoft. Thanks.
The test PowerPoint files can be download here:
    Original PPT: http://1drv.ms/1r2Ge74
    Blurred PPT: http://1drv.ms/1r2Gjrf

    Hi,
Based on my tested in my environment (OS Windows 8.1 & Office 2013 SP1), I can reproduce your issue with your PowerPoint files. But I found that your Visio file was not created in Visio 2013, when I double click the Equation Editor 3.0 objects
in Visio, I got an error message "An error(1415) occurred during the action open object. Visio is unable to edit the MathType 6.0 Equation Object". Thus, I suppose your Equation Editor 3.0 objects have some compatibility issues with Visio 2013.
Then, I try to create a new  Equation Editor in Visio 2013, and insert to a PowerPoint 2013 file, it works well.
Please try the workaround to recreate them with Office 2013 suits and do not use the original file.

  • Visio 2013 Default Line and Connector Styles

This question has been asked previously, but the answer is not sufficient. In the older versions of Visio, all you had to do was right-click and select the "set as default" option to set the default style for lines/connectors/shapes.
Where is this option for Visio 2013? No, I do not want to have to edit my custom template just to set a default style for lines/connectors/shapes. SETTING A DEFAULT SHOULD BE A BASIC FUNCTION.
Do I need to edit the themes? Because that option does not appear either. Do I need to create a custom theme? How does one do that?
Why should this be so difficult? It was a simple click-select before.

    Hi,
According to my research, I tried to find the option “set as default”.
But I count find it both in Visio 2010 and Visio 2013.
    I find that right-click each shapes>Add to my shapes>favorites.
So I think you can try to set default shapes to favorites.
    Please check the following picture:
Now the mainstream software, including Office Flash Photoshop etc cancelled the option “set as default”.
They want users to customize their common tools or style.
Please refer to the following link:

  • Object name not found error after upgrading to Visio 2013

    Hello,
I have a C# application which uses the Visio drawing control. I have been working on making it compatible with Visio 2013. I get an error using Visio 2013 which I did not get using Visio 2010. The error is a COMexception:
    Object name not found.
That is all the error says. The code which causes it to occur is as follows:
    Document document = axDrawingControl1.Document;
    document.Pages["page1"].Drop(document.Masters["Dynamic Connector"], 0, 0);
It does not seem to matter whether I use Dynamic Connector or Rectangle or any other shape, the error still occurs.
Here's the weird part: I tried out this code in a simple app with a Visio drawing control to see if I could figure out how to make it go away, and the error was still occurring for a little while, and then the code magically started working without me making
any changes to it. Unfortunately, it didn't start magically working in the original application so I'm still trying to figure out what is causing it.
    Thanks for your help!

Did the error disappear once you'd created a document and added a dynamic connector shape to the drawing? If so then there is now a Dynamic Connector master stored in the document stencil (where masters used in the drawing are contained).

  • Visio 2010 Stencil not displaying properly in 2013

    Greetz!
I'm not sure where the Visio 2013 forum is so hopefully you all can help me out in here!
I am using Visio 2013 Professional and would like to use some stencils downloaded form office.com, I unzipped 'Stencil_ModernUI_Microsoft.vss and copied them into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\Visio Content\1033
I can add them to my Stencil palette and once added they show up correctly there. However, when I drag them to my diagram surface the details are lost and they appear as solid shapes. FOr instance the Third Party Integration shape appears like this:
I'm a noob at Visio so hopefully this is a simple setting. Any ideas? I did change the transparency and that helped a bit but they're not as crisp as they're intended to be.
Here is what the shape looks like on the palette:
    Thanks!
    Love them all...regardless. - Buddha

Please go to Design tab>Clean the theme, it would be display well.

  • Visio 2013 32-bit trial version will not install even with other 32-bit MS products only.

Trying to load MS Visio 2013 Trial to determine if it works so I can purchase full version.
Environment: MacBook Pro, w/ VMWare Fusion 4, Windows 7, running only MS Project 32-bit on the VMWare side. MS Office is not installed only MS Project.
Downloaded Visio 2013 Trial img file and attempted to install. Received 64-bit conflict with 32-bit software error message. Deleted Visio 2013 64-bit version and redownloaded Visio 2013 Trial img this time in 32-bit. Tried to install but the same 64-bit
conflict message is appearing.  As the only software I have installed is MS Project 32-bit it does not appear that there should be a conflict.  I have scanned TechNet and Googled to try and understand how to determine and resolve the conflict but
there are no threads to address this specific problem.
P.S. I cannot uninstall and reinstall MS Project as I spent hours on the phone with Microsoft and VMWare Support to get it installed the first time so I don't want to mess with an existing environment that is finally working.
Microsoft online chat recommended calling MS Support and they have now sent me to you. Can you please help?

    Dear Smith_123:
Thank you for your reply. However, Office had never been previously on the OS as it was never purchased.  I do have Office for Mac 2011 but that is 32 bit and is not on the VMWare / Windows side of the machine.  But even if I had, I would not know
how to clean up the residual file or registry keys without assistance.
After 1 hours and 20 min on the phone last evening and being handed from person to person through literally 9 different people, I finally reached someone that seemed knowledgeable in MS Support.  But all they would give me was a circular answer:
We can't help you because it is a Trial Version for which there is no support offered. When I explained I wanted to be sure Visio worked on my machine prior to spending between $300 and $600 on a copy, Support could only say that I would have to purchase it
first before they would give me any help to see if it works. When I offered to purchase it right then since I had finally gotten to someone who appeared as though they could help, he told me that he was Support and not Sales so I would have to go elsewhere
to purchase the product.  Very frustrating.

  • ICal - not possible tot jump to March 2013??

If I jump to March 2013 in ical (in the months view!) on my iPad,  the application quits. Week or day view no problems, but month view impossible. Known error? Tried it on two different iPads

Thank you for the details Ben.
I've tested the behavior you indicate using Nederlands and Belgie and cannot reproduce it.  This suggests there is something unique going on on both your iPads (rather than this being a bug with the Calendar.app).
If you are using iCloud then your calendars are likely server based.  To check, tap the "Calendars" button in the top left of the  Calendar.app.  If your calendars are part of iCloud they will show up under a heading which says "iCloud".
As a test try temporarily turning off iCloud calendars and turning your iPad off and back on to see if the issue still happens.  Once you complete the test you can turn them back on.
-- To turn off iCloud calendars go to Settings > iCloud > Calendars and switch the button to off and choose "Delete" if you are prompted.
If the issue persists with iCloud calendars turned off, my only other though is that there is something corrupt in the Calendar.app itself.  To fix that you need to restore your iPad(s): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If the issue does not persist with iCloud calendars turned off then that means there is something about your iCloud account (or its contents) that is producing this behavior in the Calendar.app.
Go to applid.apple.com and sign in with your AppleID and password.
Check the language setting for your account by clicking on "Language and Contact Preferences" to make sure it is set to the correct language.
If the issue persists then you'll want to contact iCloud support: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
    Cheers.

  • Visio 2013 Ribbon not visible

I have installed Visio Professional 2013 on a Windows 7 Pro Virtual  Machine (Apple OS 10.9.2 as the host, VMWare Fusion 4.1.4). Needless to say, all software is genuine :-).
When I open Visio, the  startup screen is simply dark grey. The various document template and customisation options are invisible, but hovering the mouse pointer over certain areas shows the help text relevant to the invisible document/option.
When I press Ctrl + N to open the document selected by default I see the image below where the work area renders correctly but the toolbars remain invisible.
Resizing the window shows some of the options, some of the time and they disappear erratically as you start working on the document. The options available under the 'File' option remain invisible. I've got Microsoft Word and Excel from my 2007 Enterprise
package still installed and they work without issue. I've tried uninstalling all Office software and reinstalling Visio only, but the ribbon remains erratic. Word and Excel 2007, after reinstallation, work without issue.
Any suggestions of what I could try to improve Visio's ribbon rendering? I had to revert to Word and Excel 2007 because the 2013 versions are affected by the same issue.
    g_p_k_

    Hi,
Do you the last sentence mean that the Other Office 2013 suits, such as Word, Excel also occurred the issue?
If it was, please do some tests:
Use Ctrl+F1 to show or hide the ribbon. Please check the dark grey area size if it will be changed
Click the dark grey area to check if some command can be used.
    My suggestion:
Start Visio in safe mode (Start > Run in Windows 7, and type
visio /safe and press Enter to start Visio 2013). If the ribbon can be displayed correctly, please try to check the add-ins.

  • Visio 2013 opens my old VSD files fine - but they are blank and do not show content

    Hello,
I have downloaded a trial of Visio Pro 2013.  I opened an existing VSD file and when I open it, it is blank.  No error message or anything.  Shows it open but it's a blank screen.
It opens fine in previous version but blank in 2013.  Is there some default or layer that needs to be turned on?  Something that needs to be enabled?  Why can't I see the contents?
    Regards,
    Elizabeth

    Hi,
Visio 2013 has a dramatically different file format.
Method 1. Open the VSD file in Visio 2013 ,it’ll display in Compatibility Mode and use Compatibility checker to see if the file is normal. And I recommend you convert the VSD file to VSDX to test.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio-help/compatibility-between-different-versions-of-visio-HA102749766.aspx
Method 2. There is a setting in Visio 2013 in File > Options > Trust Centre > File Block Settings. Don’t tick “Visio 2003-2010 Binary Drawings, Templates and Stencils”.
Method 3. Open Visio 2013 in safe mode, run visio.exe /safe. If it can open normally, disable some add-ins from File > Option >Add- Ins.
    Method 4. Clean Temp folder.
The temporary copy of the drawing file is named ~$$FileName.~vsd.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826418
Method 5. Repair Visio 2013 from Control Panel > Program and Features.

    Hi,
This issue occurs because the trial version can only be installed on one computer. If you have installed it on an other machine, you can't install it on this machine then.
To work around this issue, you should use another Microsoft Account for this installation.

  • VISIO 2013 with erlier vss stencils (I have changed the trust on them)

Hi guys I hope somebody can help me here because I am almost giving up and going back to Visio 2010! :(
    My problem:
I have a lot of Visio Stencils from HP,Microsoft,Cisco,etc.. (Visiocafe and Microsoft own defaults) and after I have upgraded my Visio 2010 to Visio 2013 and after I have trusted it to open/save Visio 2003+ binary I could no longer used it!
I can see the shapes images and colors on the stencil pane on the left side, mas as soon that I drag the shape to the document the shape becames a empty square/rectangle with a CROSS and sametimes I even loose the ability to drag it around the document (normally
    changing theme do that).
Do anyone have the same problem or its just me?
Thanks in advanced for any help you can give
I hope these images are selfexplanatory of my problem :)

    John,
I'm not a visio expert, can you explain exactly what you mean with "masters"?
The "badly behaved" shapes all came from the "Exchange Conector" stencil that is open in the 1st snapshot (as an example because all the "old" stencils have more or less the same behavior).
That is the problem, the 1st snapshot shows at the left the stencil were I have dragged the shapes from (Exchaneg Connector) but even when they display correctly in this stencil preview, as soon as they are dragged to the document they appear badly.
The 2nd snapshot is, as you said, the document stencil were we can see the "badly behaved" shapes that were added to the document from the "Exchange Connector" and the "well behaved" shapes that were added from the "default"
    visio 2013 stencils.
Thanks for the reply and best regards.

  • Glue to shape geometry in Visio 2013

I need to glue connectors to shape geometry and I don't get it to work in Visio 2013. They just glue to the whole shape.
    Staffan Söderholm

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is you need to use connector to
    glue
    two “shape geometry”.
If I miss understanding something, please let me know.
I tested in my Visio 2013 and we could choose the shape connect points.
So I do not understand “They just glue to the whole shape.”
