  • Wrong time zone with rss feed in iWeb

I'm using the RSS widget in iWeb, and all the RSS items are nine hours off - meaning they're on California time (I'm in Norway). The time zone is wrong even when I look at the feed in iWeb, so I don't think it's a server issue (and I'm not publishing to MobileMe).
I've found a couple of other questions about this on the board, but no answers, so here we go again... anyone? I've tried several different feeds.

Same question! There must be some command-line hack to fix this. Any one figured it out?
It's posted times in USA Pacific time by default (GMT -8). This is iWeb 3.0.1.

  • Wrong times in RSS feeds

I believe I've seen this topic before but couldn't find anything today when I searched. In 10.4.11 Safari 3.2.1, the times listed in RSS feeds are consistently 7 hours ahead of the actual times. The system time is correct and the times show up properly in Firefox. Am I missing something simple?
    thanks,
    John

    Edurdo,
    Its your user profile timesetting.
Goto -- system -->User profile -- Own Data and select defaults tab and set personal time zine correctly.
    Hope this will help.

  • Subscribing to Gallery - RSS feeds

I have created a number of albums in My Gallery from within iPhoto with the intention of letting the (extensive) family view them without my having to e-mail them etc. This has and is working fine. To save even more time I thought that the option to subscribe to the Galleries would be a good idea. I assumed that if you subscribed to the Gallery then every time I would change or add/delete an album etc from the Gallery this would notify anyone who was subscribed. In order to try it out I simply logged onto My Gallery via the browser (as would anyone else) and "Subscribed". This gave me an RSS feed that I added to my Bookmarks bar in the same way that I have other RSS feeds. The problem I have is that the other feeds show a number next to the title letting me know how many "unread" items I have in that folder. So if the number changes I know I have a new "item". But I don't seem to get the same notification for the RSS feed for My Gallery when I go in and add/delete/change etc a photo from within iPhoto and then re-publish. Hence it doesn't seem to be informing me of any changes..?
My idea here was for me to try it first before I try my (undoubtedly PC) other users next. But it doesn't seem to work. Is there a trick to this or a series of step I need to follow etc?
Thanks for anyone who has resolved this or can help

I was just searching through the forums trying to find an answer to the same question you are asking: how can one subsribe (aka photocast) to a flickr RSS and get a good feed that has large photos and not thumbnails...
And although I too do not have a direct answer, I do have something you might be interested in... Google!
Have you ever used Google's Picasa web albums? Well I think you will like it much better than flickr (unless you use flickr for its community where it surely wins, but I just wanted a free and easy way to photocast and I found it)
    1) So first you want an easy way to upload pictures to google, which is essentially creating your photocast. To do this get google's free export feature that is a direct plug in into iphoto and works great:
    http://picasa.google.com/web/mac_tools.html
    2) Next, once you have easily uploaded photos navigate to the album's webpage and view it. Here you can find its RSS feed and copy that feed into any iPhoto as a photocast and bingo you have it with full size pictures rather than what flickr gives you
    Limitations include:
    1) Each album has its own RSS rather than an entire user one, but I like this feature over flickr's method of an entire RSS per user...
    2) I tried using different compressions for uploading a single photo. From here I opened iphoto and tested the subscription feed of the photos. As it turns out, the RSS feed still generates thumbnails becaue they do not reflect the true uploaded images' sizes, BUT the size is much larger and better than that of Flickr's size making it a suitable photocasting method. But not perfect because the RSS feed does not contain the entire image as does .Mac's method...
    Hope this helps,

  • Safari RSS feeds flicker after iCloud

After I synced iCloud for first time all the RSS feeds in my Safari bookmarks flicker on and off (they show the amount of feeds for a split second and then don't show the numbers for another split second). That effect make all the bookmarks to move right and left like crazy, this is such an annoying and weird bug...
    any help?

It turns out that deleting those Database files seemed to clear everything up (though it did reset all of my feeds. No major loss).

  • Subscribing to Flickr RSS Feeds in iPhoto

I don't know how many people know this, but you can view RSS photo feeds directly in iPhoto. If you take someone's RSS Feed address from flickr, for example:
    feed://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photospublic.gne?id=14777744@N00&format=rss200
Then in iPhoto click Subscribe to Photocast... and insert the address, then click Subscribe. All the photos in the flickr feed now show up in iPhoto! Only catch is, these appear to be just the thumbnails with no way of viewing the fullsize photos! Anyone know a way around this?

  • Rss feeds or subscribe emails

was checking out the rss feeds link available on the forum and while it is very customizable why isnt there any automatic feeds like you get on other forums where you get like in firefox the icon in the address bar to subscribe to this feed or like on linuxquestions.org, where you can get a daily email with posts that have gotten 0 replies? seems a lot easier (to me anyways)

    you're funny dibble
id be glad to, but i guess what i was looking for was like the ones on the archlinux.org main page for current news and packages
    http://archlinux.org/rdf_news.php and http://archlinux.org/rdf_feed.php
when you create a feed, its more like this
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/topics_anywhere.php?mode=show&out=rss2.0&f=uNyw4LDE3LDE4LDIyLDIzLDMwLDMxLDMyLDM1LDQ0&n=10&sfn=y&r=y&sr=y&b=non&lpb=0&lpd=0
how do you make the kinds of feeds that are on the main page or who made them? maybe they can make some for the forums. not to mention, how come there are feed links on the main page and not in the forums?

  • Unable to delete old rss feeds from live bookmarks

When I subscribe to a news rss feed I find all the news feeds listed under live bookmarks. I'm OK with that, but the problem is after reading them you can't delete the feeds unless you delete the bookmark. So each time I need rss feeds I have to go to the original source which is a waste of time.
I have reverted to Opera browser for news feeds as there is the capability of deleting individual feeds after reading them.
    Suggestions please.
    Thanks,
    Garry

Solved:  When composing an email and beginning to type an email address, you are prompted with autofillins.  There is a small x to the right of the name.  If you wish to delete the autofillin, then click on the x and Yahoo will remove it from the options in the future.

  • RSS Feed with Password Protected Blog

I just got done setting up a password protected blog on my .mac site w/ personal domain. I tested out the RSS Feed in NewsFire, and it worked fine (prompted for username and password), and it also works in the Mail program. I had a friend ask if it would work in her Google Reader, so I tried it out using my Google account, and it doesn't seem to want to work -- says the feed cannot be retrieved. Same thing when I tried to plug it into my Yahoo page. I set up another site with a test blog w/ no password protection, and it worked fine in the Google reader.
So I am assuming that the other readers are just not sophisticated enough to display feed from a password protected page. So my question is whether or not there's anything I can do (or advise them to do) to get around it.
    TIA for any perspective.

    Hi, JO
I'm having the same problem with password protection on, though I hadn't tested with it off.
I don't have a solution (though I'd like to find one), but I can add more info to the problem: when I tested my website on Internet Explorer in Windows (I run windows on my iMac with Parallels), the search function did work with the password protection on.
I'd really like to know how to get the Search button to work on the Mac with password protection on.

  • Help Please, RSS Feed Not Working! :(

    Hello there,
I'm having a hard time getting my RSS feed to work correctly with subscribers and am at my wits end. I cannot seem to wrap my head around it.
I (ideally) wanted to get both MP3 and M4A file formats working to please both crowds or subscribers. So the iTunes subscribers can subscribe to the M4As and the other listners can subscribe to the MP3s.
Anyway, I deleted and recreated the feed on feedburner here, but it's still not resolving. I've deleted the feed countless times, reinstalled iTunes, and tried it on 4 different computers, and even had other people
Any ideas why iTunes will not resolve the feed? If you look at the main page the files play correctly and without issue via the flash player.

    Thanks in advanced guys!

    Fixed!

  • After upgrading to mountain lion, my ip camera video feeds time out

I've been using my iMacs for a few years to monitor six ip Camera video feeds.  The cameras I use are both FOSCAM and AXIS brands.  I've used a few third party software solutions to do the monitoring, but I could also always use Safari to access a camera at a time by putting that camera's IP address in the address field and logging into the camera.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my video feeds started timing out when using DComplex's IP Camera Viewer, so I thought initially it was strictly an issue with that third party app.  However, I then logged into my cameras using Safari and they timed out as well.  Similarly, when using Axis Camera viewer, my video feeds would time out.  It seems as whatever the issue, it does not affect Firefox, because I can still login and monitor 1 feed at a time using that browser without any timeout issues, and for some odd reason, the FOSCAM only program uFoscam works, but the problem for me with that app is that it only works with Foscam, and not the Axis cameras (besides it's an inferior program to IP Camera Viewer in my opinion as well).
Has anyone encountered this problem and come up with a solution?  I'm thinking it's some sort of plugin or video codec problem, but it's well above my paygrade to figure it out.

I'm having the same problem with both my Vivotek wired network camera and Panasonic wireless network cameras. At first I thought this was an issue with the video framework in Mountain Lion, but if Firefox is working (I haven't tried it yet), it sounds like it may be an objective-c video library that has been changed. It's possible Firefox is using an objective-c interface that calls an objective-c function that isn't called by Safari or IP Camera Viewer, etc., (possibly a function that is on its way to be deprecated) or Firefox could use it's own library that directly calls the video framework.
Could be the Mountain Lion objective-c framework has a buffering issue.
Since this is occuring in both 3rd party software and Apple software, it sounds like it's an Apple issue. 3rd party applications typically utilize the Apple Developer objective-c frameworks to access video frameworks/libraries (for example, MJPEG). Thus, contacting 3rd party developers may not solve the situation (unless they can figure out a temporary bandaid--possibly figuring out the video framework call that Firefox uses and patching their software to do the same (not a simple task), but could still provide more feedback to Apple via their developer status.
Has anyone attempted to record from their cameras via iMovie or Final Cut Pro X HD? I will try mine later tonight to see if it records the hanging. If it does, then it's looking more and more like Apple's the culprit.
My suggestion is for everyone to file a bug report via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

  • My podcast has a valid rss but itunes times out

We have a podcast rss feed that is validating http://sonofwashington.com/feed/podcast/ but for some reason when I upload it to iTunes it times out? Please help me out as this is getting quite frustrating.

I just suscribed manuallly to it from the 'Advanced' menu and it worked perfectly well, and feed appears to be fine. Where are you seeing the timeout? Suibscribing?
However, you link to a feed at http://sonofwashington.com/feed/podcast/
The iTunes podcast 'Son of Washington' is not using this feed, but one at
    http://sonofwashington.com/feed/
This feed shows only the latest episode: it contains a number of other episodes but these do not have media files - iTunes does not display episodes which do not have media files, and I assume that these are pushing the earlier episodes which do have media files off the feed.
You need to get iTunes working from the correct feed: the method for doing that is described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
Please make sure you follow the instructions absolutely exactly, as a mistake can lock you out of your podcast.

I am presuming that you picked up the code from [this tutorial|http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javaserverpages/rss_utilities/]
Looks like the library was compiled with System.out.println() statements in it.
There is always the handy little method "System.setOut()" to redirect it.
Alternatively, decompile the code, delete/comment the System.out.println statements and then recompile it.
Its not that hard. Here's the offending class:

  • RSS feed out of date

I'd appreciated if you help me find a solution for an issue related to RSS. I have RSS HTML Widgets on my following pages, created with iWeb app:
    http://www.spanishonlyspanish.com/English/Home.html
    http://www.spanishonlyspanish.com/Spanish/Inicio.html
    http://www.spanishonlyspanish.com/Spanish/Podcast.html
The feed source is my own page (also for iTunes):
    http://www.spanishonlyspanish.com/English/Podcast/rss.xml
The problem is that the feed is not showing my last episode. In other words the feed is valid since it shows up on the pages cited above, but is out of date, because is not showing the last entry. It happened with my previous episode (31). After some hours the feed updated spontaneously, including the episode 31. But, again when I published the episode 32, it appeared in iTunes Store, on my Podcast page, but not on the pages where I created the RSS Widgets. I have checked the xml files on my FTP and they seem to be up to date.
For uploading the new files I used the synchronizing feature of Transmit. Is the out of date RSS issue related to how I publish? Should I publish the whole site, for avoiding the break of the RSS, instead of just synchronizing?
    Please help
    Thanks
    Hernando Murillo
PD: the podcast page is http://www.spanishonlyspanish.com/English/Podcast/Podcast.html

Thanks Old Toad, but that didn't work in my case (RSS Feed not updating).
    My iWeb page http://web.me.com/eburrowes/EdinaLiberia/Projects/Projects.html
still shows the feed on the day the widget was created, not the feed as it reads today -
    feed://www.irinnews.org/RSS/Liberia.xml
    Any pointers would be appreciated.
