Considering a MacMini for space issue

I have a MacBook Pro, and I've downloaded several movies and children's TV shows from iTunes. I recently got the message that my disc is almost full. I am wondering if getting a MacMini to put our movies on is a good option? I'd like to free up space on my laptop for school stuff, and set up a MacMini with the TV for watching movies. Currently what I do is download the shows/movies then transfer what we want to watch to our iPod, then connect the iPod/TV cables and watch them on the TV. Is there a better option for my situation? Also, can you move movies you purchased on one mac to another you own?

I'd suggest buying an external hard drive.
100 Gb is very low cost. Move all of your movies and tv shows to that and you're done

I've seen this happen when the phone was encrypted... Other than calling apple/deleting passcodes I don't know of any solution.
If you're keen on waiting, upload your photos to dropbox, that's the way I do it.

Is it possible to recover by renaming a stdby datafile for space issues

In one of the mount point in standby database, i dont have enough space and the mrp is stopped with the below error.
ORA-01237: cannot extend datafile 66
My question is, can i follow the below steps to recover the standby.. I have all the archive logs in standby and there is no archive log gap.
I have space in another mount point also in standby.
1. shutdown the standby db and copy the afftected datafile from the current mount point to the mount point which i have space.
2. rename the datafile
3. start the mrp process again.
Can i follow the above steps?
DB version:10.2.0.5
OS:AIX

Hi,
DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT you need to set when in process of duplicate from primary to standby.
Here no need of this parameter, make sure STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT is set to AUTO, that should be fine.

1. Sync wasn't intended to be used in that manner. You would be better off carrying around a USB Flash Stick with Portable Firefox for use on "strange" PC's.
2. You could open the "Library" {Ctrl + Shift + B} and highlight all those bookmarks and then delete them all at once. But that would also delete all the other bookmarks, and it isn't foolproof. All another person would need to do it to '''''restore''''' a bookmark backup file that has your bookmarks. Beyond that, a new Profile could be created and then the current Profile deleted; but that's "messing with" someone else's computer - an action that is worthy of terminating a friendship over, IMO.
And if that "public" computer was set up properly, Sync should have been disabled.

Regarding space issue

There is an space issue in datatop.Could you please help me out in deleting any logs and unnecessary data in that location.As the mount which own datatop is completely filled.

Do you have any archivelog files on this disk? If so, consider moving/deleting obsolete files. For datafiles/tablespaces, if it is possible to shrink it, please do so. Otherwise, you need to move it to some other disk.
Also, if AUTOEXTEND is enabled, you need to disable it (at least for now) until you have more space on this disk.

MacBook Pro hard drive space issue

I am running out of space on my 500GB hard drive. I shifted some files (Lightroom library, etc.) to an external drive about a year ago but am looking to now move my iPhoto Library & iTune music off my hard drive. I am considering a LaCie Wieless Space drive taht I could access as a network hard drive. I could also get a non-wifi drive and plug it into my Time Capsule.
Does anyone have any experience/suggestions with these methods and the quality of accessing music and photo libraries via a wireless drive? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I started up the laptop today. Finder showed there was 65 Gb available . Maybe takes a day or two to bed in, any changes from securily emptying the trash. Fired up iPhoto, had a beach ball for 10 seconds, holding my breath "here we go again"...... then it stopped spinning . The application was then alright. Works okay this evening.

HP Stream 13 - Disk Space Issue

I've had this laptop for about 2 months now. I just decided I wanted to take advantage of the one year subscription of Office 365. However, every time I try to download it it says that the disk is full. I don't have ANY files on this laptop nor do I have that many apps. I do have skype, itunes, and a few other things downloaded but that is about it. I don't know what else I'm supposed to do considering I already don't have much on here. I'm not even able to view pictures on my Dropbox because of the space issue or even use skype at times because "the disk is full".

If you openThis PC how much free space is showing on the drive?
When you are trying to download the software where is it saving the file?

Once an app is purchased and downloaded, can it be deleted because of a space issue, but then re-downloaded at a later time at no extra charge? In other words, once you purchase an app, can you delete and re-load at any time on your iPad without having to pay again?

Yes.
One more thing to consider is that occasionally apps are removed from the App Store for whatever reason. You can connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with and "Transfer Purchases" from your iPad to the computer. That way each app will be backed up on the computer should you want to retrieve it.

Open Purchase Orders not considered as requirement for MRP Run

We are facing a issue of Open Purchase orders not appeared in Stock requirements list and also it is not considered as requirement for MRP Run against reservation.
As aresult for a reservation demand of 10 units we are ending with Open POs 10 units and a additional planned order 10 units.
Material Type : ERSA
MRP Type : PD (or VB)
Lot size : EX ( HB if MRP Type is VB)
Could you please throw some light to correct our settings to MRP to consider Open POs?

11g 11.1.1.4.0 premgen space issue

I had 11.1.1.3.0 installled in XP-2.8 GHZ (core 2) 3GB machine and it was running fine with
-Xms512m -Xmx1024m PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
Then I have installed 11.1.1.4.0 and statred getting 'could not allocate heap memory to JVM' so I have chnaged the setting to
-Xms512m -Xmx768m PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
Then I got 'premgen-space' issue repetedly so change to
-Xms512m -Xmx768m PermSize=512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
or -Xms512m -Xmx768m PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
But still I am getting this premgen-space issue after every 10-15 minutes hence unable to work.
Guru's pleas suggest for best JVM memory setting.

When configuring PermGenSpace you must be aware that this is taken from the HeapSize (physical RAM does not count). Things get difficult if the PermGenSpace equals the MaxheapSize. A good setting is -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m.
Since you run the Sun JDK, you could give jvisualvm a try. My tip is to get the plugins and use the VisualGC one to monitor the memory.

Trailing space issue in Unix File

Hi All,
I am facing an issue with the trailing space in Unix file content.
When the file is being created in Unix server the trailing space is getting trimmed automatically.
As per the requirement,this space should be retained in the Unix file as it is when the file is being downloaded to PC.
Is there any solution for this issue? Request your help for resolving this.

When you're writing youd data to the file (assume you're using the TRANSFER command), you could try explicitly specifying the length of the data line to write, ie.
TRANSFER data(200) TO DATASET filename.

IdM DB Space Issue

I don't know what you mean with too much diskspace? Perhaps you can post the sizes here and the number of entries in your system so we can evaluate if it's normal or not.
Most of the tables you list should not be touched and if you truncate link and entry you will delete all your assignments and entry data, and you would possibly be looking for a new job the next day.
The log tables should be maintained by the housekeeping as mentioned, but

MC_LOGS
MC_SYSLOG
can be cleaned but neither should have that much data, but large amounts of transactions cause logs to grow. Have you checked that your backup is cleaning the transaction logs? Also reduce loglevels to ERROR to reduce the amount logged here.
MXP_Audit_Variables should not contain audits that are not in the provisioning queue, if you delete those workflows will fail.
MXP_Ext_Audit can probably be cleaned without affecting operations (reports might be affected though) but you'll loose the detailed execution history on the entries, perhaps you can do partials, delete entries older than 3 years or similar.

Spaces Issues

I was reading through the posts tonight looking for a hopeful solution to my answer, but it's not happening! I use spaces ALL the time. Yes, I have the Microsoft word annoyance, but I've learned that when you have all spaces on the screen at the same time, you can drag from one space to another. Took a long time to learn that one! Anyway, tonight I was using itunes and spaces stopped working. I have mine set up that when I hit the center button on my mouse, all the windows appear on the screen. Using itunes however, it wasn't happening. I'm not sure if it's an itunes or spaces issue, but since I opened itunes, my center button to activate spaces no longer works, but the key commands do. I need it to work with my mouse again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Oh, by the way. I have since quit itunes and the center button to activate spaces still does not work!

It is the one thing in Leopard that is going to cause me to lose my mind. I tried Spaces but really do not find that it is helpful to me. Thus, I turned it off. Now when I work in with multiple apps (let's say Mail and Firefox) an app window - let's say Mail - will suddenly disappear and no amount of clicking or restarting the app will bring it back The only thing I can do is turn Spaces back on and - VOILA- the Mail window re-appears. This is incredibly annoying. It is forcing me to keep Spaces on even though I hate it.
