Considering purchase of IPod 7th generation

I'm considering on purchasing an IPOD Touch 7th Generation but was told it was very sensistive to breakage.  Amazon has a bunch of protective covers for generation 4 IPODs.  Will the IPOD 4 case fit the IPOD Touch 7th Generation unit?

Hey Godhall, If your going for an iPod 5, (First released in 2012), I have one also, make sure you get a 32G or 64G model, they have both a front and rear camera, the 16G only has a screen side camera (good for Selfies, not much else). These are may favorites for cases; Griffin Survivor, Griffin Survivor + Catalyst, Lifeproof fre, Otterbox seems OK, I just didn't care for it. Of the cases listed they offer good shock, drop protection, will at least minimize broken screen issues, but the right wrong fall and the screen can still crack, all will protect against dirt, dust scratches, and weather, wind driven rain and snow. The Griffin Survivor and Otterbox are waterproof, will keep most water spills rain, snow off your iPod, but drop it the pond or toilet (happens a lot just read these forums) your iPod will get wet. The Griffin Survivor + Catalyst and Lifeproof fre are watertight, no water will get in if your drop it in the toilet, provided the seals are in working order and closed. If you do get a 16GB model the cases will still fit, you just have a port or window you don't need. Something else, all the windows on these cases are plastic, will scratch, But if you buy universal disposable screen protectors, cut then to fit the case's window and apply. When it get's beat up peel it off and replace with a fresh one, will not interfere with operation, and it's cheaper than replacing the case every few months. Hope this helps, Cheers.

  • IPod 7th generation and Nike

    Hi there!
I currently have an iPod 6th generation that I was using with a Polar Nike + compatible Hr Monitor, until I was no longer able to get Cals burned info when I was doing any other activity outside of Running.  I am wondering if the iPod 7th Generation will support other activities outside of running like the 6th generation used to?  or have they removed this feature all together?  Also I now use the new Polar H7 bluetooth strap, will it be compatible??  Thanks and any help on these burning questions would be much appreciated!!

    Hey SeanW89,
Thanks for the question. The iPod nano 7th generation has bluetooth functionality that can connect to the Nike+ sensor. You do not need to purchase the USB kit, but rather just the sensor itself:

    Connect to Bluetooth accessories
You can connect your iPod nano to compatible Bluetooth headsets and other accessories, including some hands-free systems in newer cars. You can also connect to a Nike+ sensor or a Bluetooth heart-rate monitor. iPod nano supports A2DP for audio streaming and AVRCP for controlling playback on Bluetooth devices.
Note: FM radio will not play through a Bluetooth accessory.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How do I restore the ipod 7th generation to a previous backup

You have to sync them again from your computer. There is no backup.

  • Ipod 7th generation skipping song

    Hello everybody,
I'm new on this forum. This is my problem:
I have an iPod 7th generation. I have 300 mp3 on my iPod. Some of those are skipping when I listen but, if I connect iPod to my pc, open iTunes and go on "iPod of user" then select "music" and play those .mp3, then they play correctly.
What can I do? Download another time?

    Hey there superbeda,
If these songs play just fine on your iTunes library but continue to skip when played on your iPod Nano 7th gen, I would next reset your device with these steps:
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
Reset iPod nano. First, make sure iPod nano is charged. Then press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Then test the issue again. If it persists, I would restore the iPod with iTunes on your computer:

  • Updated my Windows 8 and updated Itunes to newest versions and now my Ipod 7th Generation Nano is not recognized on my computer or Itunes anymore. I have went thru all steps instructed and offered here so what else can I do?

Recently have updated my Windows 8 and updated Itunes to mose recent version available. My Ipod 7th Generation Nano worked, connected and synced without difficulty prior to this updating, Now when I plug into my computer it will pop up Itunes but say that this Ipod is not recognized. I have done multiple steps offered to try and nothing has worked. Any other suggestions would be helpful. I just got this Ipod for Christmas and now can't even use it to sync content anymore.

Try a different cable. And are you connecting directly to your computer or through a USB hub?

Plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on it from under Devices in the left hand pane.  This brings you to the Summary tab.  Locate and click on the Music tab.  What configurations do you have made from under this tab?  Is your iPod configured to sync those playlists?

  • IPod 7th generation shows no music in menu, but does on iTunes

I operate on a Windows platform with iTunes SW ver 11.2.2.3 and an iPod 7th generation with SW version 1.0.3. Both identified as latest.
All was good until the battery drained out completely. I have since been able to synch music and audiobooks that show up on iTunes as being loaded on the iPod.
But when I use the iPod menu, the "Music" icon no longer takes me to the menu list (music, audiobiiks, etc) but to a screen with musical notes on it and says there's nothing.
Tried to synch it on an Apple computer and it worked. Reset it to the Windows computer and it doesn't.
    Anyone can help please?

I have had this same problem for over a month with a Win7 system. I have been working with AppleCare Support all along and we have even replaced the Nano twice without resolution. We tried different cables, different USB ports, uninstalled iTunes, ran CCleaner to correct registry errors, restarted, reinstalled iTunes, etc, etc several times. I posted my problem along with a lengthy explanation earlier tonight. I have documented everything that I have done with Apple and we are both stumped.
Lets hope someone can figure out what causes the directory on the Nano not to recognize that tracks have been loaded.

    Hello HoopsMD,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that the display on your iPod nano (7th generation) is not responding to your touch as you would expect. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article and working through the steps within to help resolve this issue.
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting - Apple Support
    Display
Follow these steps if your iPod doesn't respond to your input or has a display-related issue.
Screen is unresponsive and displays Apple logo or white screen
Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button until you see the Apple logo appear. If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes.
If the Apple logo does not appear, or if the iPod is not seen in iTunes, connect it to iTunes and try to restore.
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Can i use my ipod 7th generation with a bose dock

can i use my ipod 7th generation with a bose doc
    k?

All of the Bose Dock I see listed online have the 30 pin connector. The iPod 7th Gen has a Lightning connector.
So you would need a 30 pin to Lightning adaprt that would make for a rather percarious mounting of the iPod.
I would recommend against it unless you can find one with the Lightning connector.

  • My iPod 7th Generation isn't playing any of my songs.

I bought an iPod 7th generation classic. It played all my songs there wasn't any issue. Two days into using it, it stopped playing any music. If you hit play it said it was playing but the countdown stayed at 0.
I returned it and bought a new one.
However, the same thing has happened here.
It is also stuck on lock.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
