Considering storage capacity constraint during planning

Hi,
How can we model the storage capacity constraint in SNP or PP/DS..?
The requirement is ,during planning the storage capacity constraint for storing the finished product in the plant needs to be considered.
Thanks
Ram

Hi Somnath,
Thanks for your response.
your answer was helpful.
Regarding the option which you are currently using in your project, I believe it will only shows the alerts. I am not sure if you are using this only to display the alerts. Could you please elaborate what action you take based on this alert..?
It will be helpful if you can briefly explain the requirement and how the same was mapped.
Thanks for the help.
Wishing you and forum members, a very hapy new year.

  • Capacity check during Planned order to production order conversion

    Hello Gurus,
I have a strange situation during capacity check.
While Converting the planned order to Production order, I release the order and I don't get any warning. All work centers are available
But for the same material/quantity/dates, if I create the Production order manually, release it, system check the capacity and I got the message the Capacity Over loaded (which is correct also as there are overload on the work centers).
My question is why I am not getting this message while converting the planned order to production order.
There are overload on the work centers and manual creation of Production order is working fine, but problem is during planned order to production order conversion.
For information, I have maintained Finite scheduling indicator in OPKP, capacity availability indicator "NO CHECK" is also blank in OPJK.
It will be grateful if you can please help me here.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandeep Kumar

    Hi KK,
    Thanks for your feedback.
I have checked all these settings but still no success.
I am surprised but it is not a customizing issue I believe, because capacity is checked in Dev client while converting planned order to production order. I am facing this issue only in Staging client.
Master Data is same. In CM01, in Quality(Staging) client, it is showing overload. while creating production order, it shows overload but only when convert from planned order to production order, it does not show overload .
Please suggest what else I need to check.
    thanks in advance.

  • Storage capacity constraint

    Dear Expert,
We have one area in which can we store about 10000 kg of Raw Material. So in this case how we can control this area so that space should get overloaded. How purchase department can know that at present the space is overloaded so we should sent the RM till the stock get below 10000 kg.
Please provide your valuable advice. Thanks for your suggestion.

    Dear,
You can restrict posting by using badi or user exit. Here is badi definition is given "MB_CHECK_LINE_BADI" and method line check "CHECK_LINE"
First select stock from MARD table against material into a variable "A".
Select threshold field where it is defined 1000 Kg.
    A = A + IS_MSEG-menge.
    if IS_MSEG-BWART = '311'
    if s_labst > z_labst
MESSAGE 'Maximum thershhold reached ' type 'E'.

  • Storage capacity to be considered in planning

    Hello PP Gurus,
A liquid product is produced and has to be stored in a specific storage tank. The product has to be produced as per the requirements from SOP. At the same time, it has to consider the capacity of storage tank. (Goods issue from the tank happens in a irregular fashion & I am using PP-PI).
Do you have any suggestions on how to consider this storage constraint in the planning cycle?
Do we have any workaround such as a message during planned order/process order?
    Thanks in advance,
    G.Madhvaraj.

    Hello,
I tried it. My understanding is storage resource cannot be used in PP-PI alone and it can be used only when PP-PI  with PFS/APO is used. I use only PP-PI.
Am I correct here? Do you have any suggestions to my issue?
    Thanks in Advance,
    G.Madhvaraj.

  • Storage capacity as hard constraint in SNP optimiser

    Hi,
We are working with 1 production plant and 5 DCs.We are using SNP optimisation as storage capacity is a constraint to us in the business.SNP optimiser is not respecting the storage capacity as hard constraint. In the results log,we are getting a clear warning message that Storage capacity is not available but this a warning message and creating planned orders. As per the help documentation,it is written that it is a soft consraint.Expectation is that optimiser should check the capacity and stop creating the order for the balance quantity. i maintaines high storage capacity costs in the storage resource like 999999...but still we are getting excess orders with the warning messages.
Could anybody explain whether any settings are to be done or it is only a soft constraint?? i tried with both linear and discrete...but getting same results.
    Thanks in Advance
    Aktar

    Hi Aktar,
In addition to that what Suresh has mentioned already, I would like to say, that please check the storage cost again, and compare it with other cost. The cost you maintain as storage cost, it is per product. And in your storage resource, 1 unit of resource consumption may contain 1000 or 2000.. or more no. of products (please check you have maintained 'Storage Cons.per BUn' at GR/GI tab of product master. So, per unit resource consumption incure mich bigger amount of cost. So, optimizer will not plan for any product if you not maintain much higher (as compre to strg cost) non delivery penalty cost. Because the main aim of the optimizer is to minimize the cost only.
So, putting high storage cost does not make sense when you have to put higher non delivery penalty cost.
    Thanks,

  • How to consider production capacity plan on sales order's delivery date.

    HI experts,
How to consider production capacity  on sales order's delivery date.
    Say for example :
Production workcenter capacity to produce the XYZ material 10qty in a Day.
today i have created the sales order XYZ materail qty of 100. lead days has give based of MMR 21 days 17-07-2010( 3 sundays)
and in same day i have created other sales order XYZ material qty 5000 ,the lead days again it will came 17-07-2010.
Now my client requiremnt is when the schedule days is confirming in the sale order it sholud also consider the production capacity planning also
Even though my work centers are overloaded it is confirming the sales order on 17-07-2010 (based on leads days in MMR)
    Thanks in Advance..
    Sudha

    Sudha,
Tell your client he needs to install SCM.  Here, you can use either CTP or MLATP to confirm orders based on production capacity.
There are a couple of standard workarounds available in R/3.
One is to create a constrained forecast for planning materials, consistant with capacity, convert the forecast to PIRs, and then perform ATP against 'Planning' rather than against product, using MRP Strategy 63.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/a2/4e799a927d11d1800f00c04fadcb73/frameset.htm
Another method is to leave the Sales orders unconfirmed at original order entry (eg, no lead time).  Run MRP, run capacity levelling, firm the levelled planned orders, and then run BOP (called 'rescheduling' in R/3) against the unconfirmed backlog, with an ATP that considers firmed planned orders as supply elements.  The sales orders will confirm against the planned orders, which are scheduled according to available capacity.
Either of these two methods will work, but the CTP SCM solution is by far the better answer.  Downside of SCM solution in general is the substantial implementation effort required.

  • Since Apple (bafflingly) discontinued the iPod Classic, does anyone know if Apple plans to release an iPod Touch with a greater storage capacity than 64GB?

I've had my trusty Classic for nearly five years, and have taken excellent care of it. However, it is starting to show its age. Album art has begun to disappear. Some songs have mysteriously not played at all, until I exit, go to the main menu, and come back to it. I would have long ago upgraded to an iPod Touch, but the amount of music and videos I have would be too much for even TWO 64 GB iPods. The only time I listen to the iPod is when I'm driving, and since I drive for a living, I like to have my entire music collection with me at all times.
Since the 64GB Touch model has come down in price, now would seem to be a good time to introduce a newer model with a greater storage capacity. I'm sure quite a few consumers would be willing to pay the extra price such a model would demand. Aside from the higher cost, I see no reason why this can't be done.

    No one knows but Apple.

How we can define sourcing capacity constraint in SAP APO SNP optimizer ?Basically SNP is used for Sourcing optimization?
    Thanks

    Hi DB49
If i say at Source A capacity is 6000MT,& demand is 8000MT,i can procure only 6000MT from source A remaining from other source during the SNP optimizer run.How i can define this constraint?
May be i can consider storage constraint!

  • Replenishment between Storage Location with MRP Planning

    Dear PP Gurus,
I need you expertise on the below question.
I have a plant with multiple Storage Locations. One Storage Location is Main Warehouse and another ilocation s External Warehouse (3PL) where excess stock are kept due to storage capacity in the Main Warehouse.
Now the requirement is replenish the stock to Main Warehouse from the External Warehouse with Stock Transfer using MRP trigger the Stock Transfer.
I know the setting in MRP 4 View in the material master, the Indicator to set to 2, maintain a reoder point in the Sloc: 1200 and Replenishment Qty: 1500 and Special Procurement Type: (what should be the setting)
My question is where to set the target Sloc and source Sloc, then only system will trigger the replenishment Stock Transfer?
The storage location which is plan separately, will have a different segment. Therefore, in terms of the availability check for the Sales Order it will consider as normal based on the scope of check.
    Appreciate the reply
    Thanks & Regards
    Pooja

    Dear ,
1.You need  to set up the MRP for Plant with group of storage location  and run MRP-MD01 .You can try SCOPE of planning -OM0E.
As an information : In standard MRP I, f you have several storage location for your plant, you cannot plan for them separately unless you assign them to a separate MRP area.If a storage location (alone) is assigned to an MRP area, it means you wan to plan for it separately. If several storage locations are assigned to an MRP area (or let's say to a plant), it means you want to plan using all of them - and you cannot choose only one and plan for it (you can exclude a SLoc from planning w/o assigning it to MRP area).
2.Find steps for config for activating Sloc to Sloc transfer within plant using STO : -
follow path: SPRO--> Materials Management -->Purchasing -->Purchase Order -->Set up Stock Transport Order -->Set Up Stock Transfer Between Storage Locations
    1. Activate Stock Transfer Between Storage Locations
    2. Assign Delivery Type and Checking Rule According to Storage Location
purchase document category 'F' , here use PO type UB, supplying plant, issue sloc and delivery type , (prefer to create new delivery type by copying delivery type 'NL' replenish delivery
    3. Define Shipping Data for Stock Transfers Between Storage Locations
for plant defind sales org and distribution chenal and devision
select the pline and go to sloc
assign there customer (created for sloc)
    4. Define Rule for Determination of Shipping Point
for newly created delivery type set L storage location specific shiping poing determination
    5. Assign Shipping Points According to Storage Location, assign her sloc based shiping poing determination
at last when you will create PO put issue storage location, system will determine shiping data based on config done.
after this process will be same as STO plant to plant using shiping.
You will need to mention the issuing storage location during posting the delivery,
    ie, ME21N - Create STO
    VL10B - Create Delivery
VL02N - Post Goods issue - here you will need to mention the issuing storage location
Refer : STO process -Std in SAP
Hope it is clear to you .

  • Sales order schedule confirmed date will consider Production capacity load

As we know about schedule confirm delivery dates of sales order will consider based on material master lead time ,shiping point etc

    Need your Inputs on issue

    Hi,
This is a complex issue; best solution is by using APO/GATP.
If not, then in ERP only, the second best is:
    1) Work with assembly processing in SO, meaning that a production/planned order is automatically created in the customer order during order creation.
    2) Then, after the order is created it is scheduled, and the delivery date proposal is based on that.
    3) Now you can check in the order that there are no capacity overloads, and all capacity required to produce on the proposed date is available. If yes, you're done. If not, it gets a bit complex, since you actualy need to switch to capacity planning, do capacity leveling and dispatch (PP), and the you get a new feasible schedule proposal based on that.
APO/GATP could do all that automatically!

    Mario

  • Can I use HP System Recovery Disks on a new hard drive replacement with a lower storage capacity?

Can I use the HP System Recovery Disks from my HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertaimnent Notebook PC when I replace the failing hard drive with a smaller storage capacity hard drive?  Right now it is a Toshiba 750GB SATA hard disk drive, 5400 RPM, 2.5 inch small form factor (SFF) and I am planning to replace it with the Toshiba HDKCB26 500GB 2.5 inch Hybrid Hard Drive.  I read that I cannot use a System Image to restore the hard drive because it is a smaller capacity then the original Hard Drive. If this is true, it seems that my only option is to use the HP Recovery Disks.

    Hi:
Normally the HP recovery disks don't work on a smaller hard drive either, but it may be possible in your case if HP offered a 500 GB HDD in that model series.
    No guarantees though.

  • Best storage capacity for a student

    Greetings everyone,
I have the desire of buying the latest iPad in a near future and I was wondering, what storage capacity will I be needing?
-I intend to record many classes at university
-I intend to take pictures of the boards at university
-I intend to use it to store documents, books, dictionaries.
-I might get a good lot of apps and a few games(but not much)
-I do not listen to a lot of music(100 tracks max, really)
-I would like to have a few movies at hands(I also am subscribed to Netflix)
Wich would be the best for me? 16, 32, 64 or 128G?
Meanwhile, I'd appreciate if someone could give me a hint of how much space recording parts of my classes might take.
    +
If someone was kind enough to explain to me ''***'' is 3G and Cellular?I have no idea what it could be.
    Much appreciated,
    Agesilas

I'm happy that Demo solved your question. I had read it and waited until my younger son got home to ask him a few questions. I figure the more opinions you have, the better. And Demo has the right idea that you should buy your ipad with the most storage you can afford. That tends to be the general concensus in responses to this question.
Our son got his ipad 2 64 gb before as he started his junior year in college this past year. At first, he quickly loaded it with music, a few movies, tv shows, apps, etc. It came to over 22 gbs. After his junior year he has used over 50 gb. He said the books do not take up much space, but the tv shows do and if he needs to, he can delete them. So it can add up fast. You want to record (video and audio?) it adds up. It will add up more quickly than simply taking photos. You might have to buy newspapers (or be given for free through your university) and they add up if not deleted periodically. Engineering projects take up space. Others might say you don't need to go too big because you can store things in the cloud. (We haven't done that here, so no opinion to offer.)
Like Demo, our son has no idea about recording, but as Demo said,it will add up. Movies eat up the battery more quickly, so that might be an indication that your recordings will take up more space.
So we suggest you consider the 64gb, and if you can easily afford it, and want to, consider the128 gb. (Personally, for me, the more it costs, the more I'd worry about it.)
And FYI, at least in the USA, most colleges have wifi throughout campus, so you might not need it too often on campus. But if you can afford it, the cellular will ensure constant connectivity to the internet anywhere! And because you aren't too familiar with cellular, depending on where you live and go to school, you will pick a carrier (often the carrier for your cell phone.) And when you are out of wifi range, your phone carrier will charge you, so you might want to do some comparison shopping.
It's great that you have Netflix.
Oh. Please be sure to buy a good strong case for your ipad.
Reseach independent reviews (esp. re storgage given the price,) and don't hurry to make a decision until you're sure.
Whatever you decide, enjoy your ipad and your years at university!

  • Best option for MBA storage capacity

    Hi all,
Running around a number of options on which config of storage capacity to go for with a new MBA. Money is a bit tight so for that reason I'd prefer to go for the 128Gb SSD version but I know that will not be enough storage capacity for me.
Therefore I'm mulling several solutions: USB storage, SDHC storage (on 13" model) or an external HDD via USB. Best VFM is obv an external hdd, but access times/running speeds (excuse the layman terms!) are ultimately my priority.
I don't know much about what it's really like running extra storage permanently like I plan to - I assume it won't be as fast or glitch-free as internal storage would be, but I have no idea whether it'll be acceptable or awful. Example of use are prob running music/video files off it.
I guess my question to you guys is, what kind of access expectations can I expect with the above options?
Or, should I just take a deep breath and jump for the 256Gb version? Thanks in advance

Right - yes, I've just been researching into SD Classes. Had no idea before!
My ultimate aim is to have some extra storage that performs well enough at a low cost. Typical activity will probably be playing music and watching movies from the external media - what I'm worried about is poor data transfer speeds affecting playback etc. Can you advise on, for example, at what speed this would be a problem, and thus at what speeds I'd need? (sorry for all the questions!)
If these problems are unlikely to happen with an SDHC, I would be tempted to go for it purely on the aesthetic grounds.
    Thanks again,
