Consistently crashing with 12GB Sandisk Extreme III
Hello,
I'm having a real frustrating problem with my 12gb sandisk card. When I have Lightroom open and mount the card Lightroom will immediately lock up.
I can insert my other cards and they work fine (sandisk extreme III 2gb, sandisk ultra II 1gb)
Any idea why this is happening? And is there a way to stop it?
I am looking for a solution beyond what i've done up to this point, which is to close LR, dump the card to my desktop, then import the photos from there. It's kind of a head-ache/time-waster, and would like to figure out what's really going on.
HELP! and thanks,
-kyle

If LR crashes while in the middle of an import from the card, you will quite likely loose some data.
Perhaps you had a bad experience, but I would not expect a loss of any data caused by LR crashing during import--certainly not a "quite likely" loss. BTW, I assume you're referring to a loss of data (corruption) on the card itself.

SanDisk Extreme III Compatibility?
I have a pre-Unibody 17" MBP (10.5.7) with a Sonnet Express Card SD reader. All my other cards appear on the desktop and in my sidebar, but the two new SanDisk Extreme III 2 GB cards do not. They are connected, they appear in Adobe Bridge, but I cannot see the icon anywhere to eject it properly.
Suggestions??I do have a question in to SanDisk, figured this would generate some right answers faster! This morning one of the cards appeared in the very center of my desktop- but it certainly didn't appear in my sidebar. Strange.
All my other cards appear normally- both on the desktop and in the sidebar- 2GB SanDisk Ultra II and Kodak cards- it is just these two new ones. Same camera, same reader.

Early 2009 Mac Pro with SSD Sandisk Extreme
Hi everyone,
Just had a quick question for anyone who may know...
I recently did the SDD upgrade for my mac pro (4,1) and bought a Sandisk Extreme SSD 120 GB, and the OWC sled for the drive. Installed a fresh install of ML and tested the drive with the Black Magic Speed tester. I am getting around 127MBs write speeds and 259 MBsRead speeds. This seems slow considering the drive has speeds of up to 6GBs and SATAII can go up to 3GBS. Is this a correct speed? Or is my disk faulty? Granted it is faster that a 7200 HDD drive, although not by much according to my testing. Am I missing something here? Any insight is much apperciated.
Ianicy dock can cause it to eject, fail, nothing to do with our limited I/O

Firefox 7 consistantly crashes with flash content
This is quite frustrating. Ever since the release of FF6 the performance of Firefox with Flash related content literally sucks! The plugin container is ALWAYS crashing consistently.
It seems that in Mozilla race to compete with Google Chrome in their rapid releases has resulted in rapid blunders. If better testing was in place this crap would not be happening. Mozilla needs to slow their roll in all honesty of people that have been long time Firefox users are going to move to Google Chrome since it is not plagued with issues that are getting all kinds of loyal Firefox fans pissed off over something so simple as flash.
I have had more problems with crashing since Firefox 5 has come out. Obviously the proper testing has not been done by Mozilla. In the 3. series i maybe crashed once a year, now is daily! WAKE UP MOZILLA!
Before I go any further i have read numerous post in here with people have the same problem. I have also done some testing on my own from what Mozilla suggests, in which NONE of their solutions corrects this issue. My solution however, which is not a solution but more a work a round solves totally any plugin-container.exe crashing. It was simply to roll back to Firefox 4.01. I updated to the newest flash player via their site.
I have been crash free for days now! THIS IS NOT AN ADOBE FLASH ISSUE. If it were then i would have crashed in 4.01 as well. For those concerned with the update nag, simply go to options->advanced-> and the tick boxes. that will prevent the nag
I thought that i could re-install Firefox 7 and simply replace the plugin-container.exe from 4.01, however that did not work. It resulted in a complete lock up of Firefox 7.01, and was honestly hoping that it would be that straight forward.
I read some peoples success with the 8b3. So, I tried that, and didn't solve my problem. I crashed within 24 hours again on flash related content. ( the crash ids are for the 8b3 i listed ).
Maybe someone needs to take the plugin container, and associated components in 4.01 and incorporate it in a new release, or revert back to that engine all together so that we can have a nice web experience without all the crashes.
You can get Firefox 4.01 here:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/4.0.1/
edit: replaced random unofficial download site link.I have found the bug thread, and have posted several posts with information and some examples of sites that provide positive crashes.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=561019
From reading the posts, it looks as if Mozilla has moved this up a bit in priority according to reading into a post from one of the mozilla's team members since I have provided information concerning the crashes.
That particular bug ( Bug 561019 - Plugin waveOutOpen hangs ) is the TOP crasher of plugins:
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/topcrasher/byversion/Firefox/7.0.1/7/plugin
As far as reporting bug/hangs. The end user has to press the " submit crash report " link to submit it. If they do not it will sit there until you go into about:crashes
For hangs that DO NOT produce a crash you once again have to go into about:crashes and click on all the reports that DO NOT have a " bp " in front of them to get them to actually submit. They will post in about 3 minutes.
So for the "400 million" said users and " hard facts tend to suggest that most users do not crash " is unreliable to state since it is TOTALLY up to the end user to submit the report providing they know how. I know from working in a professional environment 99.9% of users do not submit error reports of any kind when something crashes the OS or any program. Even with the 9 members of my team they always click "do not send" except for myself.
" Get rid of plugin container " is a non option since you run the risk of features not working as i have found when you do that.
It does seem like a Firefox issue for several reasons: latest version of flash with Firefox v4.01 works flawlessly, and Chrome and IE do not have this issue with flash. -
CF Adapter for x61 (Sandisk 4gb Extreme III)
I wish to use install a compact flash adapter on my x61 for downloading photographs. I have had no success in locating any which will work with my Sandisk 4gb Extreme III Compact Flash drives.
I have a functional USB adapter, but want a solution that is compact and more efficient for travel purposes -- something like a PCMCIA card (which can be inserted internally).
In fact, I have been unable to determine what is the actual type of the PCMCIA look-a-like slot on left side of my x61.
I will be grateful if anyone is able to assist with answers to either of these questions.
Solved!
Go to Solution.PCMCIA is actually pretty slow with compactflash cards like the extreme III. instead look for a cardbus to CF adapter. you'll get about 3~4x faster transfer speeds over PCMCIA (roughly 12 MB/sec vs. 3~4 MB/sec).
fwiw, an external USB CF reader will transfer at around 15~17 MB/sec.
i've personally tested all of the above using sandisk extreme III and extreme IV CF cards. i gave up shooting film about six years ago.

SanDisk Extreme Pro ExpressCard wont install ... ?
All,
I have an older (2007) MacBook Pro lying around that I am attempting to turn into a "media" station for managing digital photos and whatnot. To make this work, I needed to (1) install Windows 7, and (2) get a reader that would let me access my SD cards. Installing Windows went OK with bootcamp and all that, but having some issues with the SanDisk Extreme® Pro™ Express Card™ Adapter for SDHC/SDXC UHS-I cards. I have followed the directions explicitly outlined in the installation manual, but nothing seems to work.
My question is, do these ExpressCard ports ever "go bad"? I can't think of another reason why this won't work out of the box.
Interested in any insight from others that have tried this hardware or have had similar issues with ExpressCards not working under Windows on Mac hardware.
Cheers-
S.B.Thanks to all of you who pinged me off-line about this.
Apparently, the current version of BootCamp (3.1) does not have suitable Windows drivers for the ExpressCard hardware slot, makeing it uselss under Windows. Here is one such thread that discusses:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/12518382?messageID=12518382
Perhapd in a future release of BootCamp this issue will be resolved. Anyone have other thoughts before I close out this thread?

Keep getting crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS - tried everything
Dear BB'ers,
Having tried everything I have seen in the BB's and I need advice on what to do next. I keep getting application crashes with the following log entry:
Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERNINVALIDADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x0bbbe000
(Toast 7, iViewMedia Pro, CD spin Doctor, DVD player, Eudora, Finder, Firefox.....) OSX 10.4.8
The problem was intermittent but seems to be getting worse. I can induce a consistent crash with Toast when creating a DVD from DivX files and have used this as a diagnosis.
I have tried:
1. Techtools pro - no probs reported with memory
2. memetest - run in safe mode to access max memory - no probs reported
3. Booted from another HD with a clean version of the OSX (Still 10.4.8) to make sure it was not the system - Toast (different example of the software) still crashed.
4. Removed half the memory - still crashes
5. Swapped with the other memory chips to run on that other half - still crashes
6. Verified the discs with Disk Utility
Any ideas as to what might be the cause and what else I can try...?
Thanks,
DaveHi, David.

Hi, I have shot few pictures on 31st December night in RAW mode using Nikon D800 and Sandisk extreme plus 32GB SDHC card. It looks like card got some memory errors so not able to transfer the files from Card to computer. However I am able to view the pics thru Lightroom ver 4.4 Library, but when I tried to import them, it gives me an error stating that file can't be read.
Is there a way to save the pics from Library window in lightroom overcoming the card read errors ?
Thanks in advanceHi SSPRENGEL,
Thank you for your response. Here is the error message I am receiving, I tried with various destination folders in the computer but it still gives the same error:. Just to let you know, I am able to import pictures into these folders from other memory cards.
I am able to finally at least extract the jpgs using the option suggested by elie-d -
I'm trying to set up a wireless network at home, part of which involves an external hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme base. My iTunes library is too big to keep on the laptop, so it is on the external drive. When I'm listening to stuff through iTunes, everything seems to work alright for a while, and then iTunes locks up. I get a spinning pinwheel that goes on forever. If I force quit, it will be removed from the list of running applications, the window will disappear from the desktop, but the icon in the dock will have a little bullet next to it as if it were still running. If I re-open the force quit menu, iTunes will return to the list every time, even though there is no evidence that it is actually running. If I try to restart the computer, the whole thing freezes up and the computer can only be forced to shut down by holding the power button down. After the restart, iTunes continues to remain useless (if not crash-inducing) and the external hard drive is inaccessible. The only temporary fix is to re-setup the base station with the airport utility. No problems arise if the hard drive is connected directly to the computer. This problem has happened with each version of iTunes since the AirPort Extreme was released.
Here's what I got (from the wall out)
DSL modem (in bridge mode)
Airport Extreme (handling DHCP/NAT stuff, up-to-date firmware))
-printer and LaCie d2 250 gig HD connected via USB to Base Station
-First gen MacBook pro 17" connected via AirPort to Base Station (which I don't believe have airports that support the n protocol)
-AirPort Express (doesn't affect stability. the freeze-ups happen whether I'm on the network through the base station or the express)
help please
MacBook Pro 17" Mac OS X (10.4.10)I have the same exact problem as you! I have been asking everyone on this forum for help about this, but nobody ever responds with an answer. I tried resetting my modem and router, and that seemed to help, but after copying files to different hard drives, I still get an error... after I check to see if anything copied, it actually worked! It never shows me the copy animation, all I get is an hourglass. When I try copying wirelessly to the same drive using my Macbook Pro, it works like a champ! I thought maybe the Airport Extreme doesn't work well with XP, but others say they have no problems. Should I reformat a partition of my hard drive to something that works better with the Airport Extreme?

I had given up on getting Flash 9 to work on YouTube, but I thought I'd make this post to see if anyone has any ideas. I have Windows 98 operating system -- so Flash 9 is as high as I can go. Flash 9.0.277.0 -- the most recent version -- consistently crashes or hangs on sites with Flash content using Firefox 2.0.0.20 (the highest Firefox version I can have for my OS) or Opera 10.10. (Every earlier Flash 9 version I tried also crashed.) The site I really want Flash 9 to work on is YouTube, but EVERY time I do an artist search and click on a link my computer hangs or crashes with an error message concerning NPSWF32.dll, the Flash plugin. Is it a lost cause to get Flash 9 to work on YouTube? I hope someone has an answer. Thank you very much.
Hello, Pat.
You say, "It is also possible that this is mere speculation."
Indeed, it is possible that it is "mere speculation".
I said that I was basing my comments on poster # 3's comments. What I tried to do was to rephrase it a little to show my understanding of the factors contributing to a possible (NS_type_browser)/YouTube/(FP_9_version) conflict that could lead to the NPSWF32.dll error or a computer crash or hang.
To be more general, "(NS_type_browser)/YouTube/(FP_9_version) conflict" should be replaced with "(NS_type_browser)/(Internet_web_site)/(FP_9_version) conflict", since FP 9 versions newer than 9r_47 exhibit unpredictable behavior. That is, these FP 9 versions will crash on some sites (or videos), whereas on other sites (or videos) these FP 9 versions will work fine.
I thought with your expertise, that you could clear up any "mere speculation" or misunderstanding that I might have.
But, evidently, this was not the case.
You say, "I would say, if FP8 on FF2 works for you, why not just leave it at that?"
As you know -- or, at least, I hope you know -- different websites support different minimum Flash Player versions. That is, on a given website, FP 9 might work fine, but FP 8 might not work at all -- and, in this case, you would get a message saying you needed a later version of FP to watch the Flash content. (This message is stated differently on different sites, but it is basically equivalent to what I've just said.)
why not just leave it at that?
YouTube now supports both FP 8 and FP 9, but at some point in the future I'm sure they will discontinue support for FP 8. If I didn't have a working FP 9, I'd be SOL on YouTube !
As I explained, in the present day, I can watch much, much more Flash content while browsing the web with FP 9 with than with FP 8. Also, FP 9 gives a better picture than FP 8.
I'd guess the reason that you were not even aware of this -- based on your question -- is that you are not limited by your OS and hardware like I am.
I hope this answers your question, Pat.
Like I said, I'll give you a "helpful answer" -- 5 points -- just for responding to me here.
Thank you.

BSOD on resume from suspend with sandisk extreme ssd
Hello folks!
Has anyone had this happen?
After buying the sandisk extreme ssd and installing it, i get bsod every time when resuming from suspend.
I have tried other hdd with no problem, and tried a fresh install with win7 x64, but still have this problem with the sandisk..
Any ideas anyone would be aprreciated, thanksI developed a waking problem from sleep mode when I changed out my ram to bigger. My Lenovo loses about 600mb of 'something' from memory between entering the sleep mode .. to waking up? I still haven't figured it out. You might want to try changing the memory sleep/suspend setting to just hibernate. You should wake up plenty fast from hibernate on that ssd. If using it.. you might also read up on the intel rapid storage technology. I read that needs uninstall/reinstall sometimes when changing to ssd.

P6N SLI with Core 2 Extreme QX6850 Crashes on OS installation
Hello everybody,
I have a mobo P6N SLI (MS-7350) and an Intel QX6850 that aparently works fine and pass all test with PC-Check, but when I try to install the OS (Win 7 or Win XP) it freezes.
I will state step by step all the info of what I had and I have done for better understanding. I hope anybody can give me a clue of what is not working well.
-first, mobo was working fine with a Pentium D 940, RAM 4 GB 800MHz, and Graphics XFX GeForce 9500 GT 512MB. Windows XP installation was sucessfull. Windows 7 installation was NOT successful at this point. I guess the old bios was not good enough for Windows 7.
- Intel QX6850 was installed. Win 7 and WinXP installation NOT successful. It freezes during install. CPU speed show 2.0 GHz whet it should be 3.0 GHz. (opss, I should have updated the bios....)
- Old Pentium D 940 Installed back. Bios was updated to latest available. Win 7 and Win XP installation successfull. I guess with the new bios Win 7 was good to install.
- Intel QX6850 was installed back. Win 7 and WinXP installation still NOT successful. It still freezes during install. Nevertheless, CPU info is correct this time.
- Test ran with PC-Check. All test passed correctly. There is just one thing that caught my attention. The MP Symmetry test was not available for Core 1. The other cores 2, 3 and 4 passed the MP symmetry test. Every other test incluiding RAM and HD passed.
Any clues?? Does anyone know if it is normal that CORE 1 has no MP Symmetry available. Does anyone have an idea why OS installation crashes with this CPU?? Should I smash the QX6850Remove your processor and check the socket grid for bent pins/wires.

Acrobat 10.0.2 consistently crashes when authenticating Adobe ID

SDSSDXPS-960G-Q25 – 960GBI am happy with a 240/250 GB SSD but unsure which model would suit best. Because of the SATA II limitation what benefit would i see with a higher end EXtreme Pro SSD over a cheaper model?
The higher end SSDs have higher IOPS than the lower end SSDs so you would see a little snapper response from the OS but the over all throughput would still be limited to SATA II speed due to the SATA interface of the computer.
Because the SATA is II can you just half the SATA III performance spec for a SSD interfaced to a SATA II controller ? Will it not run at the 3 GB limit ?
Overall throughput will be limited to 3Gb theoretical. You will probably see close to 300MB/s
Without the sandisk software tools for Mac how can i update the SSD's firmware using a bootable USB stick, my CD/DVD drive has stopped functioning ?
SanDisk provides a downloadable DMG that can be put on a USB drive for FW update http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16966/
I am interested in sandisk because of TRIM support on both the SSD and OSX 10.10.4.
10.10.4 now supports TRIM for third party SSD but this is not limited to just SanDisk SSD. here is some more info on enaleling TRIM for third party SSD http://www.macrumors.com/2015/07/01/os-x-trim-ssd/
