Consistently slow and nobody can figure out why

Since getting BT Total last October, I've had consistently slow download speeds between 2kbps and 50kbps despite perfectly normal IP Profile. The home hub 2 router is in the main socket, wifi is a good signal, and I have used a wired connection as well.
The line has been stabilised (twice), upgraded, hot VP looked into (again twice), I've had the main socket replaced twice, recently with a microfilter... the router has been temporarily replaced, then swapped back with no difference, had the software in the router checked... everhything has been looked into (please note I'm no longer being called back from the broadband helpline) and I still have a nearly useless internet connection. 90% of pages are slow to load, if they load at all and most downloads are "interupted"
Uploads are not affected, but most interfaces for uploads won't themselves load :-/
I've run this test under several situations, wired, wifi, pages open, pages closed. Very little difference.
Possible explanaitons and solutions?
Normal speeds have spontaniously occured four times, each not lasting more than a couple of days, with the shortest period being three hours before a drop to a handful of kbps.

you have max connection for adslmax of 8mb and the correct profile of 7150 but as you say the throughput/download is worse than rubbish

    What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
    If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
    If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

    This is what my monitor started doing within a few weeks of owning it. I'm going on 2.5 years now. Just had a tech come to my house for about 4 hours trying to figure it out. Apple wants nothing to do with it. I've called them many times and have always been told to call them back and never get beyond that. Apple looked at this video I posted and maybe got scared? lol. I have no idea. I think they should just get rid of the problem already as I work at home and have lost allot of $ because of this issue.

    Is that a 404? If yes, then check if you do not have the Export Page option disabled for the page in question in the context menu in Plan/Design mode. If that is not the case, then a URL would help in identifying the issue.

  • I can't always print to PDF but can figure out why...

    For some reason I can't print to PDF in all applications, but I can in some. For instance, I can with Word but not with say Illustrator or Safari or even Preview.
    I've tried deleting and adding the printer, both as Generic Postcript and Adobe PDF 3016.102 (the only option when I choose Adobe). I've also searched for a while thinking it was a driver issue or something.. Maybe that I have Acrobat Pro on my Intel back but I installed Adobe Reader, the Intel version, and that didn't seem to work.
    Does someone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? It's not a total pain because mostly I use it when print PDFs with Word, but the fact that others don't seem to work bugs me.
    I thought it might be because Word is still PPC, but so is Illustrator so that didn't make sense to me.

    The ability to print pdf's is not dependent on the installed driver. The OS X printing system converts all print jobs to a pdf spool file with a job ticket. It is also not necessary to have Acrobat Pro or Reader installed to generate a pdf or view it. The Print window provides the option to print to pdf even for non PS devices such as inkjets.
    Can you explain what happens when you do try to print to pdf from Illustrator or Safari. Do you get an error or does the job seem to process without a document being generated? If you are not sure about the error you can open the Console application and have a look at the entry /var/log/cups/error_log.
    Also, have you tried to print to pdf via the Print window or have you always tried to print via Adobe's driver?

  • Firefox keeps crashing and I cannot figure out why.

    I posted this question a few days ago and got 3 email responses, one of which asked for diagnostic codes related to the crashes. I have tried twice to reply to that email, but my mailer daemon will not let it go through because it thinks that I'm trying to send code or something, so I am going to copy and paste them here. Actually, I am going to post the last 5 Dx codes because it has now crashed twice in 10 minutes. If you want the others, I will try to email them from a different account (I have 4).     Thanks for any help you can provide. I am running Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit) on a Pentium 3.3 Ghz with 2 Megs of RAM. The crashing problem has actually been happening for a while now, since version 25. However, now it is happening many times daily. It's not my virus protection because I have had 3 virus programs in the time it has been happening. It's not malware. I scan a minimum of 3 x/week. And yes, it has crashed in "Safe" mode. I have tried every suggestion in the help articles so it's not any of those. I just want someone to tell me what it IS and how to fix it. Thanks. Stephanie

    Sorry to hear about your problems. I can see that you have the avast browser module installed ([email protected]). This is been connected to other cases of Firefox crashing. Could you try disabling the add-on and see if it fixed the issue?

    I have been trying all day to access gmail on mozilla. I installed, uninstalled, and re-installed Firefox and I keep getting the same warning whenever I try gmail. All other sites function perfectly.

    You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
    You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
    Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

    You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
    Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
    You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
    It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

    Hi. So, here are the facts in my Oracle 11g database:
    Oracle considers /u03/admin/orcl/dpdump to be the datapump dir:
    SQL> select directory_path from dba_directories where directory_name = 'DATA_PUMP_DIR';
    DIRECTORY_PATH
    /u03/admin/orcl/dpdump
    The oracle user has DPUMP_DIR set to that directory as well:
    $ env
    DPUMP_DIR=/u03/admin/orcl/dpdump
    And in my parfile I have:
    $ cat impdp2.par
    directory=DPUMP_DIR
    Yet, when I try to execute impdp I get this:
    $ impdp ww_qa/ww_qa@orcl parfile=impdp2.par

    Why is it looking in the wrong directory like that?

    It looks like you are expecting your PAR file to interpret and replace environment variables with their actual values.
    Two things. One I'm not sure if the parameter files are interpreted that way (haven't tested, never had a need). Secondly, the DIRECTORY parameter needs an Oracle directory object; In this case you'd provide DATA_PUMP_DIR.
    Read up on the DIRECTORY parameter in the Utilities guide for your version at http://tahiti.oracle.com

  • Problem with LR5 Import on MAC, it always shows "file cannot be imported because it could not be read" This happens with file downloads from the memory card as well as with files from the hard drive. Happened out of the blue and I cannot figure out why. P

    The destination directory, where Lightroom is trying to copy photos to, does not have WRITE permission. Change your permissions.

    Try this.
    Type in the address bar about:config.
    Accept the warning.
    In the page that appears, in the Filter box, type network.http.max-connections. Change the value to 32 (which is probably set to 256 in your case).
    Close that page. Restart the browser.

    I'm expreriencing the same conditions with the same environment.  Windows 8, iTunes-64 11.1.2.32, iTunes Store with a processing bar up to 80 +/- and the POPUP MESSAGE OF "iTunes stopped working. The error ...."
    I UNINSTALLED, iTUNES WITH NO POSITIVE RESULT.  I CHECKED THE FIREWALL AND IS THE SAME DEFINITION AS THE PREVIOUS ITUNES VERSION.
    My iTunes StoreS from my iPhones ARE OK.
    I'm spending a lot of time of research for WINDOW'S iTUNE with no solutions....

    go to the store tap up on the top of itunes and click the store tab and on therir ther should be some thing that says aturize computer click that and it should say you have so many computers regsterd if that dos not work just  talk to me hope this worked

  • Pages not loading, suddenly today, status bar at bottom of page has red "J" for Java and I cannot figure out why or what to do

    After using Firefox successfully for months, it started not loading full pages today, but showing "done" in the status bar at the bottom. I also noticed icons for Javascript, Java, Silverlight, etc., on the right side of status bar, JAVA one is red, but I don't know what that means.
