Console access through USB- Solaris x86

Hi,
I installed Solaris 9 on my laptop, Compaq Presario V2000 Series. My laptop does not have a Serial Port attached. I was wondering whether I can access the console through USB . And if so, can you please also provide me the instructions on how to configure it.
soladmin2006

Hello.
/dev/dsk/c7t0d0s0The "s" tells me that you use a Sparc system - right?
/dev/dsk/c7t0d0s0
"s0" is the primary partition on Sparc formatted disks.
The whole disk is identified by "s2" on Sparc systems.
If the floppy disk does not have a partition table (this is the case for removable media such as 3.5" disks) you should use
/dev/dsk/c7t0d0s2
For non-removable or integrated media (such as "USB sticks") XP often adds a partition table. In this case you must add ":c" to the partition name:
/dev/dsk/c7t0d0s2:c

    Hi Guys,
Is there any way to retrieve current logged-in user's Manager name in the console application.
As I don't have access to the server where SharePoint 2010 is installed so I wanted to access through client object model.

Unfortunately, you can't use CSOM to do this in SharePoint 2010 (you can in SharePoint 2013!), but you CAN use the User Profile Service .asmx web service to accomplish this. You need to call the
    GetUserProfileByName method exposed
in the http://<yourServerName>/_vti_bin/UserProfileService.asmx web service. Pass in the user name for the current user and Manager will be one of the properties that is returned.

  • Not able to access CAS service through Endeca workbench: getting an error "CAS Console must be accessed through Workbench"

Getting an error while accessing the Datasource tab through Endeca workbench "CAS Console must be accessed through Workbench". Verified both ws-extensions.xml and casconsole.properties files which exists under %ENDECA_TOOLS_CONF%/conf, both files shares the same sharedSecret. Do anybody knows how to resolve this issue.
I did tried to reinstall CAS component multiple time , all the time the same error throwing.
Endeca CAS service is also not able to start through microsoft console (services.msc) throwing an error " Windows could not start the Endeca CAS Service service on Local Computer"

This can occur if CAS is reinstalled. Check your ws-extensions.xml and casconsole.properties files, and ensure that they agree on the same shared-secret.

  • Guest LDOM disk access through multiple IO domains

    Hi All,
I am working on a configuration, wherein the boot disk to the Guest LDOM is being provided through an image file hosted on a VxVM diskgroup (vmdg1). The configuration has another copy of the same image file being provided through another VxVM diskgroup (vmdg2)l through another virtual disk service.
let me clear the configuration a little more in detail
A T-5240 server having 2 IO domains configured
Primary (Control domain + IO domain + Service domain) configuration
A VxVM diskgrop (vmdg1) having a boot image file
Secondary (IO domain + Service domain) configuration
A VxVM diskgroup (vmdg2) having a copy of the boot image file
these devices are exported through their respective virtual disk services with the same mpgroup name to a guest LDOM. The vdsisk is then assigned to the guest ldom which is using the volume through the primary service.
When the guest LDOM is started it starts with the disk export through the Primary domain. All writes happen fine. When the VxVM diskgroup is deported from the Primary the Guest LDOM still remains online as starts using the disk image path through the secondary domain.
I then bring the VxVM diskgroup and the mounts back online on the Primary domain and deport the diskgroup from the secondary domain to see if it failsback to the image through the Primary domain. The Guest LDOM now is in a hung state and does not allow access through the local console or through network logins.
Has anyone see such a problem? Also is it recommended to use disk based image as a backend device in mpgroups through "ldm add-vdsdev" ?
    TIA,
    Sudhir

As far as I know then only way to "re-balance" the I/O across the domains is to unbind/bind the guests. Not a great answer, but this could be done as part of the guests patching cycle.
I think there is an RFE to provide MPxIO-like features to guests.

  • How to integrate a Solaris x86 server on Sun Management Center ?

    Hello people,
I want to integrate a Solaris x86 server on Sun Management Center platform.
If I'm not wrong, SunMC doesn't run for Solaris x86, server and client only as console with Java.
In speat of it, I try to install Sun Management Center 3.0 Agent for Solaris x86.
It seems to be ok, install packages, but when execute es-setup script, intents to create the following directory:
    /opt/SUNWsymon/base/bin/sparc-sun-solaris2.8
I supose that in this directory, SunMC will install sparc binary files
At this point, I can't follow the installation and abort it.
Can anybody give me ideas to install and integrate my solaris x86 server on SunMC ?

could you guide please? If you still have a copy of your SunMC media around, the same ["es-inst"|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2215/command-line-1?l=en&a=view] program you use to install Solaris Agents should work on Linux as well. It autodetects OS type and will install Solaris packages or RPMs as appropriate.

    Hi
From the Unix prompt enter oemapp console(for v9.x). If you are using earlier versions it is oemapp console (for starting the console) and oemapp dbastudio(for starting dba studio)
For starting OMS enter: oemctrl start oms.

  • Help with evaluation for Solaris x86

    Hello,
I would like to evaluate Oracle Identity Manager and Access Manager products at the latest version possible -- the host system(s) are Solaris x86 (SunOS .5.10) Unfortunately, I am having a bit of trouble compiling the list of packages/versions to achieve this for this platform. For instance, on the downloads page it appears that OIM is not available for Solaris x86, not even in older versions(?)
    Thank you in advance,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
I'm pretty sure that x86 Solaris is not yet certified to run the Identity Management suite. I've been involved in an evaluation process and we ran it all on RedHat Enterprise Server Release 4 Update 5, without too many problems.
    cheers,

  • Solaris-x86 mount fat32 partition, the partition max size limit?

    solaris10 x86, laptop, 10G FAT32 partition for windows & x86 exchange data.
the fat32 partition mount as normal, can be read fine.
but write some file by x86, that can not find by windows.
anyboy know did the solaris-x86 mount fat32 partition, the partition max size limit? or no limit, why this problem occur?

    Mounting Windows partition in Solaris
The easiest way to share data now is to do it through a FAT32 partition. Solaris
recognises it as partition of type pcfs. It is specified as device:drive where drive is
either the DOS logical drive letter (c through z) or a drive number (1 through 24).
Drive letter c is equivalent to drive number 1 and represents the Primary DOS partition
on the disk; drive letters d through z are equivalent to drive numbers 2 through 24,
and represent DOS drives within the Extended DOS partition.Syntax is
    mount -F pcfs device:drive /directroy-name
where directory name specifies the location where the file system is mounted.
To mount the first logical drive (d:) in the Extended DOS partition from an IDE hard
disk in the directory /d use
    mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c0d0p0:d /d
You can use mount directory-name after appending following line is in
    /etc/vfstab file
    device:drive directory-name pcfs no rw
    for example
    c0d0s0:c /c pcfs no rw
If your windows partition like the following means
    C: - NTFS, D:-FAT32, E:-NTFS, F:-FAT32
    Then you can only mount D, F not C & E.
    Mounting D Drive:
    mount -F pcfs /dev/disk/c0d0p0:c /mountpoint
    Mounting F Drive
    mount -F pcfs /dev/disk/c0d0p0:d /mountpoint
The driveletter only for fat not including other file systems (ntfs or any linux filesystems).

  • Console access via SERIAL MGT port on v210

This is a simple question. I just want the standard way to use Hypertem off my laptop in order to have a CONSOLE session on a v210. NOT AOLM, I want to be able to have console access, running in single user mode, etc.
I have a USB SERIAL connector that ends with a DB-9 connector. I have a NULL MODEM cable, DB-9 at both ends.
I am supposed to use the RJ-45 SERIAL MGT port on the back of the v210, correct?
I believe then that I need a connector that is RJ-45 on one end and DB-9 at the other. And so, where do I get that? I have seen a silver connector like that when I have opened new servers before. But I don't have one. Can I buy one???

If you have a Sun support contract you can ask your local support team to provide you with a T3 connector kit. If no contract, http://www.infosystemssupply.com/products77.html

  • Solaris x86 or Solaris 8

What is the latest version of solaris on intel called? Is it generic
across intel boards? Are there some pitfalls to look out for (i.e.
only runs on 400 MHz or less, only a handfull of graphic cards, etc.)
What is the best C/C++ compiler? Does it support Visual Workshop?
How about Motif? What version? We were using Motif 1.2.4 on X11R5
from ICS, is this OK? Any heads up would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Solaris 8 is currently available at
    http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/binaries/index.html
Not sure what you mean by "generic across intel boards" - it's the
same kernel, but drivers will differ depending on your H/W config -
    see the HArdware Compatibility list:
    http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/hcl/index.html
There are freeware e.g. GNU compilers - go to sunfreeware.com
For serious commercial development, the Sun Workshop tools are
available - Workshop 5 is shipping now and you can get a WS6 early access at the access1.sun.com website.
CDE seems to have taken over from Motif. For details on X11R6 features etc, follow the first link below:
