Console Broken?

I've seen this on 3 different computers since I installed Leopard. The console "All Messages" field shows only one message, the most recent one. Sometimes more messages come through, but if I change the Console display, such as to look at system.log, and go back to All Messages, there is only the most recent message again. There are no Earlier or Later buttons and the Console says that 1 of 1 message is displayed.
I have fixed it in the past by doing an Archive and Install. Other less invasive changes haven't worked, up to re-running the 10.5.2 updater.
Anybody know what is going wrong or how to fix it without an Archive and Install?
- gws

it has broke again a couple of times, but I have a clue as to why.
On this computer, we have had console running in two accounts at the same time. This didn't kill console immediately, but in a couple of days.
Have others with dead consoles has multiple instances running?

  • Web Console broken

    Hi All,
I did something stupid and hope that the forum can help me to reverse out.
I was trying to create space on the Server drive and uninstalled JAVA ( I supsequently found and deleted the culprit files and removed them instead). I also installed IR16 at the same time and now I have no web console. Everything else seems to be working OK, but Apache web server service will not start (I assume because JAVA was uninstalled).
So where to from here. Do I assume that a re-install of JAVA will solve this and if so what version is required ? or is it possible to re-install the web console module on its own?
    Thanks in anticipation

seems to be the same problem as outlined in this post:

    Thanks

  • 2.50 console broken

Hi After the 2.50 update my ps4 was bricked. It has only worked twice in 2 months and when I attempt to turn it on it beeps comes on for 2 seconds and switches off . I cannot get into safe mode and I am losing psn+ membership (3 months now). It has got the 2.51 update on the ps4 from when it started the second time. If anyone has a solution it would be appreciated thanks

Doing this will mean re downloading games but without a console it makes no difference.

  • Firefox feedback section does not work in firefox 6 or other browsers with a more sane update schedule

I tried to post this in the feed back section but it does not appear to be working in firefox version 6.
I have been working with computers for 30 Years, used Firefox since version 1.0 recommended it through websites that I develop and for people that I work with - I am afraid that will be coming to an end unless you guys stop the nonsense.
I do not like how you assume I want a new version very 6 weeks.
There is no clear documentation of the changes for each release. I Do not have time for this – it should be simple – it’s not -
There is no way to know why my add-ons are disabled with every update. And I have a basic vanilla system with a Java Console Broken, Kaspersky URL Advisor – Broken – vendors are going to stop supporting the Firefox browser if you break their code every time there is an update – and if I was them I would – this is the second time this has been broken in 6-months.
WTF - Can't you guys just write a patch or fix a security problem without a version change and breaking everything? I want stable and secure - that appears to have stopped with Firefox version 3.6
I know it’s free but there is a ton of free software I choose not to run because it is crap -

<< I Tried to post it through this link -
    http://input.mozilla.com/en-US/feedback#sad
There was no visual clue that it took the feedback - just sat on the screen with my information in the text box. >>
The same thing happens with me.

  • Snow Leopard unusable with Broken Pipe messages in the console

    Hello
Recently, probably after having installed OS X 10.6.8, I noticed that after a while, something within the OS becomes saturated leading to no new processes being able to be started.  All existing programs continue to run and all seems normal except if a running program needs to call another program (e.g., Mail needing to fetch a password from Keychain Access).
The console then becomes awash with broken pipe messages and a whole bunch of error logs are created for various programs.
This is causing me great irritation as everytime I am forced to restart the machine (sometimes by forcing a hard-reboot).
I would really appreciate any help on this matter.  I would rather not have to completely re-install the OS if I can help it.

I was hoping I'd get a magic solution instead of the dreaded OS reinstall.
That is the magic solution, it gives you a new OS X copy which you immediately update, leaves all your files and programs alone. (unless they have kernel extensions and you need to update those programs)
It's fast, easy and simple, it's Lion "overwrites" that are a pain because it needs the Internet.
There is only one person here that spends his time analyzing such under the hood details and usually has to tell you what I'm saying anyway because that's the only way to correct it.
I'm trying to get you done and out of my way and you back to your life.
I must say that I am quite disappointed with the kernel failing in this way - it is not really in keeping with the robust/Unix reputation...
Don't know what the problem is, it is very robust, but hard drives are based on magnetic bits and those bits fail, the best OS in the world can't stand up if the chair it's standing on is kicked out from underneath it.
OS X only takes 4.5GB, Apple could have incorporates a automatic recovery parttion check upon boot and restored OS X if if didn't boot, but they didn't do that.
Then when they have to place a recovery partiton like in Lion as they are phasing out the optical drive, they make one get online to get a new copy of OS X.
    How stupid is that?

  • SOLVED VISTA JAVA 1.6.X 1.6.15 BROKEN JAVA CONSOLE IE8/FIREFOX HANGS

I recently inherited a problem where JAVA was broken on Vista Home Premium whenever you hit the java test page
    www.*java*.com/en/download/help/*test*vm.xml*
the browser for both IE8 and FireFox 3.5.2 would just hang which required a forced kill, trying to start the java console through the vista control pannel, for the latest build just failed 1.6.15.
Trying to reinstall JAVA just failed, trying to downgrade JAVA  failed trying other possible incompatibilities upgrading to vista SP2 had no effect.
Searching the web I found a number of hints then hit on what was the issue in that there was not one thing wrong but the JAVA install was broken in a number of places and so the problem was multi dimensional. The first task was figuring this out then gluing the pieces together
*If your control panel for JAVA when clicked on barfs a warning ending with "{color:#ff0000}*com.sun.deploy.panel.ControlPanel"{color}* you need to fix this so you can easily access the JAVA configuration parameters
    1) First get the java console working put the following code into a file called in mycase javaconsole.bat amend it to suit your version/location of the javaw.exe file
    cd C:\"Program Files"\Java\jre6\bin javaw.exe
    {color:#0000ff} .\javaw -Xbootclasspath/a:..\lib\deploy.jar -Duser.home="%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%" -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true com.sun.deploy.panel.ControlPanel{color}
This was based of the following thread, whats in blue is a single line
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5372196
    2) Create short-cut, put this on you desk top double click and say yes to whatever UAC security issue Vista pop's up and console now comes up. The vista control panel icon will remain broken hence the batch script hack to access it
    3) Next piece is the java settings controlling the network, should java read the proxy settings from the browser itself FireFox/IE8. This needs to be set to {color:#ff0000}*direct*{color} if using a home network, that has no proxy infrastructure. This information was based of this following thread
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5367053
PS IE8 no longer has the JAVA enabled as option in it's own advanced section
    4) The above thread has the solution solved at the end as the :-
"It was the default setting for the 'Network Proxy Settings' in the java control panel.
The default setting 'Use browser settings' did not work for us.
We changed it to 'Direct Connection' and now java works correctly."
    {color:#ff0000}*HOWEVER READ ALL THE ABOVE THREAD AND IT MENTIONS "the next-gen plugin."*{color}
This is the last key in the puzzle as now you have the control panel working through the batch script also {color:#0000ff}*DISABLE the "Java Pluggin enabled the next generation Java Plug-in" under the security advanced tab*
You will now have a working system for VISTA JAVA
    {color}

  • Web console, "Connection to R/3 Broken"

    Hello all,
I've installed Web Console on IIS, Win2k3 server, and I'm unable to connect to my ERP system.
The message displayed reads, "connection to r/3 broken" in plain text.
I've seen a couple of threads here and there, but none post a resolution.
    Some background:
I'm reasonably sure I've included everything, I need to. I've allowed ALL Unknown ISAPI Extensions, made an entry for my system.
Also, it seems note 910901is no longer in service.  Let's see if Klaus posts about that note

Well, I put in the resolution for one of my systems in the post directly above yours.
The entry was missing in the SAP Login Pad on the host.  I have a 2nd server set up identical to the first, and this did not resolve the error there.
Seems theres a couple of common fixes.
    1) Make sure you are allowing all api extensions on the host
    =>Start=>programs=>IIS Administrator=>allow all extensions
    2) Make sure your sap gateway parameters are set high enough to allow all traffice.  The default is 200. If you're experiencing sporadic problems, this might be it.  Often, in other threads like this, people have mentioned that rebooting fixes their issues.  This would fix it w/o having to reboot.
    3) Make sure the SAPGUI is populated with all the systems you're attempting to connect with >on the host<.
    That's all I have I'm afraid.

  • OSB 11g proxy service test console fail with Broken pipe

    Hi everyone.
I have a strange problem with OSB test console (and sometime with java client). The proxy I built cannot response after several request. In other word, I tried to test console for dozens time, sometime I cannot have response from OSB. I wait for the response for 5 minutes and get some strange exception, that is broken pipe, but error code is not unique.
I cannot understand why my proxy service stuck in that exception. Can you help me to solve it ?
    Any suggestion is appreciated.
P/S: that is log record on server:
<BEA-423405> <An exception [Broken pipe] was thrown while rendering the content at [/jsp/test/ServiceResult.jsp].

This is my proxy service that was tested above. Can you show me some instructions for tuning it? On these day, I get many bad performance responses from that service.

  • What will happen to sap console screen if connection to SAP is broken

    Hi All,
    I have a doubt.
What will happen to sap RF console transactions run on Hand held guns. when the connection to SAP appliaction serevr is broken.
Does SAP has any recovery method. (I have seen recovery method for two step confirmations) is there some other means of checking the connection and recovery of data .
Will the RF queue management take care of it.
    Thanks in Advance.

I have a strage issue here, on 2 different  2960X  (  WS-C2960X-48TD-L ) when I connect the mini USB cable for console access the switch do not respond anymore, after few seconds all the led stop to flash, the switch start to broadcast all packets on all ports, causing redundand port to create a loop.
The issue is present on both switches, tried to cold boot, tried updating to 15.0(2)EX4   but still same issue.
I tried different usb cables that are working on 2960S and 3750x, anyone with this issue ?
It is annoing as I have only usb pors available there.
The issue start when the cable is plugged in without even start the login, the Control plane free about 20-30 seconds after. If I remove the usb cable everithing is fine again, but spanning tree on other switches has gone crazy due to the switch was farwarding on all ports.

    Hi,
anyone has this same issue ?

  • Crative Console Launcher is broken

I've been using my SB X-FI Xtreme Audio for a while now on Win7 64 bit (Since Win7's official launch date in fact) with only minimal troubles (What u Hear has been completely missing ever since moving from XP to 7). Just recently though I tried updating my driver and low and behold now Creative Console Launcher simply refuses to launch either from the volume pannel in the system tray or when I go to the program's install directory and attempt to launch it manualy.
Each time I attempt to launch it gives me the following message "The current selected audio device is not supportred by the application Do you want to select another audio device now?"? if I hit yes it tells me "The Creative Audio Device Selection module cannot be launched. The module may be missing from your system. You may need to re-install your application."? The first messages' ascertion that the device is not supported is incorrect, as I've used the console fine with this card in the past, and indeed it's bundled with the audio console to begin with - I've tried re-installing the console launcher several times as reccomended by the 2nd message but to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get the console launcher working again? As it stands I'm completely unable to access the mixer, mp3 Crystalizer, or EAX settings which is really annoying.

&Re Creative softwatre suite. I'm having the same problems with this software. I've downloaded the applicable ver4sion for Win 7 64bit and it ran for a while thewn all of sudden it stops working. I click on the icons and nothing happens. I've asked for support on this but got none. Did you get any solutions to the problems from anyone?

  • My company uses Juniper Secure Meeting 7.1.0, and Mozilla has broken it by taking away Java console compatability. When will Mozilla acknowledge the problems they've created for thousands of users, and when will they restore the lost functionality?

Why don't I see any official acknowledgement of this problem?

    Hi cwebtech-
According to this answer I found, it may be possible for you to update the max version number for Firefox in order to make it compatible:

  • Broken laptop input mouse & keyboard [xps15z] [post Syu]

    Problems:
-laptop's (dell xps 15z) keyboard and mouse not working
    -X broken
I am really stumped here and looking for any help / direction. I am running out of questions to ask, and would appreciate any feedback.
    What I have tried:
    -creating a new modprobe.conf,
    -merging rc.conf.pacnew,
-downgrading to my previous udev, mkinitcpio, and module-init-tools, using the packages found in cache. remade init with
    mkinitcpio -p linux
and keyboard and mouse still did not work
    -merged locale.conf.pacnew
    -merged pacman.conf.pacnew
-traversed almost all of the logs multiple times (have not found a silver bullet, but not positive on what Im looking for..)
Below I have included some notes, my relevant (dates) pacman.log, and what I pulled from dmesg that seemed related to me.
    //notes
    -usb ports work
-when i hit keys on the keyboard while at the console username prompt, nothing types, but if laptop is a dark place, the keys back-lights actually do light up...
-every other boot I get stuck on MUX error (error has been there since I installed arch, but only now does it freeze occasionally here)

I'm glad that fixed your keyboard.
Good idea about the wiki page. If/when I have time I will add something. Feel free to do so if you have some.
I've not had the computer for long, however the core install boots and works fine, but after updating the keyboard and mouse become unresponsive, so unfortunately from my perspective, one of the updates in the past 4 or 5 months broke it! However, though I've not tried any combinations of boot parameters, the vast majority of live CDs won't even boot without acpi=off (or presumably, only acpi=noirq is actually needed, looking at your tests) so it doesn't look to be Arch specific.
For your X problems, are you using a DE or WM, and how are you logging in? If you can disable the login manager (if present) and start an X session with startx, with say only exec xterm in your ~/.xinitrc that might help pinpoint the issue. If that works, it will unlikely be an X issue, more one of your DE/WM.

  • Recovering the failed server to the Cluser !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BROKEN PIPE

    Hi,
I have a weblogic cluster with 2 managed servers on 2 different machines,
Now i have an application.ear which is kept on the first server and while deploying i choose the option "copy to the other server" and i deploy this EAR to the cluster.
Mine is a applet-servlet based application and the applet gets downloaded onto client browser.
Now when both the servers are up load balancing and the failover is also happening. Now the problem is when rejoing the failed server back to the cluster.
I have setup the classpath entries and arguments entries "Remote Start" tab in the server configuration,
I bring back the server through weblogic console and it joins the cluster also without any problem.
The problem is if some users have already opened the application then after rejoining also it works fine.
But if a new user tries to access the applications what happens is
              we get

This seems to be a problem with the BEA MS SQL server driver. We switch to
Data Direct and the problem went away.
There were no memory messages in our logs for SQL server.Ok. And this only happens during a big sequence of inserts? Let me see your code,
and please describe the table too. I'll try to duplicate it, but if the data direct driver
or the free MS driver works for you, go with them.

Is it a driver or network issue?Probably neither. I'm guessing the DBMS ran out of memory for theinsert-logging
or something like that, and killed the client connection. Check your DBMSlog.
