I would be guessing and I do not do that (so I do not give bad advice). If you are not having problems, I would probably cross my fingers and ignore the messages.

  • Adobe Overdrive console error message?

    Hi,
I've been using Adobe Overdrive console to download and read library books on my Velocity Cruz tablet. The last 2 books I have checked out will not download from the library website. When I click on Download, it looks like it is starting to download but then I get an error message from the OVERDRIVE MEDIA CONSOLE that says " Error contacting Adobe License Service (error code 1069).
I currently have 3 other books downloaded from the library website that are working just fine.
I have tried restarting my tablet and updating the Overdrive. Please help! I don't want my books to expire before I get a chance to read them.
I have searched through numerous threads here and been unable to find the answer, I apologize if it is here somewhere but I'm SO very frustrated after searching for answers for the past 4 hours!
    Thank you!

This forum can address issues with Digital Editions, but not Overdrive.
There is no 'Adobe Overdrive console'.

  • [Solved] [Xorg+KMS+Intel] Can't see login console / boot messages!

    Hi,
My problem is that using an Intel video card (with KMS) after latest Xorg 1.8 update, I can't see boot messagges and the login console anymore.
I've just noticed that after last Xorg update I can't access anymore to runlevel 3 on boot.
I've got an Intel video card so KMS is enabled by default (and mandatory).
I always used SLiM as a display manager, configured through /etc/inittab to go to runlevel 5 on boot:
    # /etc/inittab
    # Runlevels:
    # 0 Halt
    # 1(S) Single-user
    # 2 Not used
    # 3 Multi-user
    # 4 Not used
    # 5 X11
    # 6 Reboot

To enable runlevel 3 at boot,  I commented the id:5:initdefault: and the x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/slim >& /dev/null lines and uncommented id:3:initdefault:.
Now, during boot, the last thing I see is Loading UDev modules..., then the screen becomes dark gray and I can't see any other boot messages (actually this appened also before, after xorg update).
The problem is that before slim started but now I can't see any login console.
I also figured out that typing my username, password and then startx, starts X normally, so the problem is just that I can't see the tty console anymore.
Once I am in X I can switch to ttys normally.
    What can I do?
I just wanted to get rid of slim and start X automatically after console login but I can't see the console login!
I hope to have been clear enough, thanks for your help!

    Lyall,
You are corect that you only need the compiled TUXCONFIG file on the
master machine, the boot process will propagate it to the other machines.
I am unclear as to what your problem is now, where is the boot failing?
Are there any errors in the ULOG file on the master machine, or the
    other machine?
The tlisten process must be started manually (or via UNIX startup
scripts) the tmboot brings up application servers. This application
boot process that may require the tlisten to be running in advance.
There is no way that the boot process "thinks it is starting the tlisten"
Please post some more information about what your current problem is!

I am still having difficulty. (Linux unix in case you are wondering)
The admin console thinks it is ok starting the master (cos it thinks it is starting
the tlisten process when I know one is already running)
    [tuxadm@PACEMid1 poc]$ ps -fae | grep tlisten
    tuxadm 14653 1 0 18:10 pts/10 00:00:00 tlisten -l //PACEMid1:12344
    tuxadm 14799 11238 0 18:29 pts/10 00:00:00 grep tlisten
    [tuxadm@PACEMid1 poc]$
It also thinks that it is not running on the second machine and so, fails to start
up the second machine. I know the tlisten is running on the second machine.
    [tuxadm@PACEMid2 poc]$ ps -afe | grep tlisten
    tuxadm 2891 1 0 08:51 pts/8 00:00:00 tlisten -l //PACEMid2:12344
    tuxadm 2954 1111 0 09:04 pts/8 00:00:00 grep tlisten
    [tuxadm@PACEMid2 poc]$
The admin console shows the full configuration (wonderful stuff really)
My config file has been updated now that I understand the difference between NADDR
and NLSADDR (maybe some synonyms in these config files that are more intuitive
    would be helpful!)
I have only shown what I understand to be the relevant networking entries here.

  • [SOLVED] Console gets message about mei_me timeout every 5 seconds

I was just trying to install Arch to an HP Compaq DC 7800 machine, so I downloaded the ISO image (2013.08.01) and booted the system with the cd. However, my console gets spammed every 5 seconds or so with messages like:
    [65.456035] mei_me 0000:00:03.0: reset: connect/disconnect timeout.
I tried to boot with kernel option 'quiet', but that only suppressed normal messages, not the error. The only thing I could find what comes close to my problem, was this Ubuntu bug, but it turned out that it was something built in the kernel. However, I don't have access to the kernel on the installation cd. (Also, it looks like 'mei' has something to do with wifi, which isn't present in the machine.)
Do you know a kernel command line option or some other solution to get rid of the message? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the hint and this thread. That messages annoyed me some weeks, but I haven't found a solution until now :-)
Marcel- wrote:But where can I do that? I looked through all my BIOS settings, but nothing was related to Intel MEI.
Instead of pressing F10 for entering the BIOS setup, you can press Ctrl+P for entering the Management Extension BIOS.
This also works even if Ctrl+P is not shown on the screen. It worked for my DC8700. Besides that, I think you can activate the Ctrl+P hint in the BIOS (Advanced->Power-On Options->MEBx Setup Prompt).
By the way, the default password for the Management Extension BIOS is "admin".
I didn't have a deeper look into the Management Extension BIOS, I'm just fine with the removal of the kernel module :-)

  • Strange console.log messages: Here 0, Here 1, etc.

I just opened Console.app to check the logs for something, when I saw a very strange list of messages in console.log. There are no time stamps or process IDs listed with these messages; they just look like this:
    Here 0
    Here 1
    Here 0
    Here 1
    Here 0
    Here 1
    Here 2
    Here 3
    Here 4
    Here 5: 2
    Here 0
    Here 1
    Here 2
    Here 0
    Here 1
You get the idea. This list goes on for over 7000 lines! Based on the time stamps of the messages before and after this list, I can see that this happened sometime during a 2-hour period this morning, and no more have appeared in the last 30 minutes.
Since the messages have stopped, I am more curious than I am worried. However, I would really like to know what caused this to happen. Does anyone have any clue? Has anyone else seen this happen?

Well, although I still have no idea what the messages mean, I've discovered what is causing them. It's the result of a conflict between two applications: NeoOffice and ShoveBox. This morning, I inadvertently tried to assign a keyboard shortcut in NeoOffice that already had been assigned to the "Send to ShoveBox" option in the Services menu. Apparently, ShoveBox does not understand input from NeoOffice, because if I select a cell in my spreadsheet, and press Command-Shift-E (the "Send to ShoveBox" shortcut), a long string of those "Here" messages suddenly appears in console.log. If I use that keyboard shortcut in another application—like with text selected in TextEdit—the selection is properly sent to a new text note in ShoveBox.
I guess the reason, there were so many lines of those messages this morning, is that I kept trying to use the shortcut when nothing was happening in NeoOffice. The strange thing is that I've successfully used that exact shortcut in NeoOffice many times before, even with ShoveBox installed.
So, I will just pick a different keyboard shortcut for what I want to do in NeoOffice, and go about my merry way. I'm happy to know my computer isn't sending out "Here" messages to some malicious server, or anything like that.

  • How to sort the messages in Browser Console by time

In the Browser Console the messages are sometimes out of order. This can be confusing when debugging an application. Is there an easy way to sort the messages by the timestamps?
    See also: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=854435.
It seems this has been the case for some time. I am seeing it in version 26.0. I can copy the messages to a spreadsheet and sort them there, but that's a bit tedious.

Thanks cor-el. I notice this in the interleaving of Net and Logging messages. I haven't yet noticed a case where Net or Logging messages alone are out of order. Separate threads with different latency to posting messages makes sense.
From my perspective, hiding the timestamps isn't a solution. It obscures the problem rather than fixing it. I noticed the problem before I looked at the timestamps carefully. When I'm debugging, the order of events is sometimes essential to a correct understanding of what is happening. So, I hope that in addition to giving people the option to hide the timestamps, an option to sort the messages by timestamp will be added. If it were my choice, sorted by timestamp would be the default.

  • Messages to /dev/sysmsg and /dev/console are displayed on the CDE Desktop

I noticed that after reboots any message sent to /dev/sysmsg or /dev/console is displayed to the CDE Desktop (wallpaper). After I log out then log back in the problem disappears. This happens in global zones only and not in a non-global (local) zone.
(the only service I see with "svcs -xv" is the Print Service)
To repeat the problem I have to do the following:
    1. Reboot (init 6)
    2. Login to the CDE as a user.
    3. Open an Xterm window, and in the windows, "su" to root
    4. Observe a "su on ..." message on the CDE desktop in big white "OBP" looking mono-spaced text.
    5. Log out of the CDE
    6. Login to the CDE as a user.
    7. Open an Xterm window, and in the windows, "su" to root
    8. Problem has disappeared, no more logging of console like messages to the CDE desktop.
As well, if I do something like this after I reboot, and on 1st log in:
    echo "Hi there" > /dev/console
    echo "Another Hello" > dev/sysmsg
I'll see both messages print to the Desktop of the CDE. If I log out and log back in, I will no longer see this kind of behavior.
    My Hardware: Sun Netra CP3260
My Software: Sun Solaris 10 5/08 Update 5 with 137137-09
    Additional info:
/etc/syslog.conf - does have a line that directs some output to /dev/sysmsg
    /etc/default/su - does list: CONSOLE=/dev/console
I did comment out the above two lines in my syslog.conf and /etc/default/su, and the behavior goes away, however this is a workaround and not a fix of the issue.
    Any ideas?

  • Console stops showing new All Messages

On 1/28 I noticed that the All Messages report from the Console utility was not reporting any messages newer than roughly 11:30 PM on 1/27.
Logging in to my Admin account and viewing the "system.log" file (in Console) showed that messages were still being sent to that log. The last message reported by All Messages was a system sleep message at around 11:30 PM on 1/27. The first messages not shown by All Messages (but actually present in the system.log file) were at the system wake event around 1:30 AM on 1/28, during which the syslogd process crashed with a bus error. The rest of the system log filed showed all the expected messages up to the present and no unexpected messages. I have no history of prior crashes of syslogd.
Booting in Safe Mode, resetting PRAM, verifying the disk, and repairing disk permissions all had no effect. Messages were still going to system.log (viewable only by an admin Account) but were not reported in the All Messages display in Console (even for an Admin account).
At midnight on 1/29 the system rolled over the system.log to a new file and, automagically, new messages once again appeared in the All Messages report. There were no other messages in system.log indicating any other recovery action happening except for the log rolling over.
The Console reports are now working fine again, but I've lost a day in the All Messages report.
Since things are working again for me, this is not really a question. Take it as a point of information for anyone else experiencing a similar problem.
Possibly related to this, I've noticed that since the 10.5.6 update the Console All Messages report periodically displays the last message multiple times. These repeats have the same time stamp so they are not actually new messages, and if you click the Reload button on the Console window all the duplicates vanish leaving only the correct, original messages.

    Thanks for that.
I did not spot any messages in system.log related to aslmanager. I should also point out that I have NOT experienced the problem reported by some others where aslmanager runs wild and chews up a lot of CPU time.
In fact while puzzling over this for the past day I watched Activity Monitor closely and never once saw aslmanager appear despite multiple reboots.
I did look in the daily asl log files and found the file for 1/28 was empty.
Again, all of this is just points of info for others who might be dealing with a similar problem.
