Console Crashes OSX 10.5.8 (latest in a never-ending series of problems)
Ok I'll try to be as brief as possible. I have the the late 2008 aluminum Macbook with stock Apple memory.
I have had virtually no trouble with OSX or my computer in the three years since I bought this computer until last month.
Background:
-Around the 27th of December, OSX crashed and forced me to shut it down by holding the power key. However, I was unable to restart the computer. After trying all of the various start up modes and booting from the OSX disk I ended up installing OSX on a backup drive which I was able to use copy over my files. Then I formatted the harddrive and wrote 0s over everything with disk utility before reinstalling a clean slate of 10.5.
-For a week or so everything was running smoothly. However, my charger shorted out and forced the computer to shut down for several minutes. When it did turn on again everything seemed normal.
-A day or two after that, Chrome was acting up and getting hung up on something in its cache. I trashed Chrome's cache and restarted the computer but it hung up on the grey screen. Also wouldn't start in safe mode. I did some googling, found this is normally due to a corrupted cache on the hard drive, so I used single terminal mode to wipe those files. After that it booted up normally and was fine for another couple of days.
The new issue:
Yesterday it started hanging in random applications. First the application would lock up, and then when I switched to a different application that would lock up, and so on. Early on, it would resume as normal after a period between 20 seconds and a minute but towards the end of the night it progressed more and more. I opened up Console to try and make sense of the logs, and the whole thing froze and didn't come out of it for several minutes. This happens every time I try to open Console.
Today I have:
-Reset the SMC, PRAM and NVRAM.
-Repaired disk permissions, verified disk. There are several permissions adjustments but they don't seem to stick.
-booted in safe mode. problem still occurs.
-booted in single user mode and ran fsck. Found some errors, the errors didn't seem to affect the problem one way or the other.
-trashed Cache files in /library/caches and /system/library/caches
-trashed com.apple.dock.plist
-uninstalled all programs I've put on in the last couple days.
It's working more or less normally right now as long as I don't open console but I get the feeling I'm only treating symptoms. I am not sure where to go next. I foolishly left town without my OSX disk and running the hardware check by holding d doesn't work. It won't go into that mode.
Does anyone have any advice to at least get console running?
Boot off your *original* Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some models have a separate AHT CD.
The Memory test can really only be trusted if it finds a problem, not if it doesn't find a problem.

My 2011 Macbook Pro OSX 10.8.4 latest update won't connect to secured Wi-fi
2011 Macbook Pro
OSX 10.8.4 latest updates
Suddenly stopped connecting to any wireless network which is secured, WEP/WPA/WPA2/personal/enterprise all do NOT work.
Connects to unsecured networks just fine.
For example, our wireless password is:
123456890!
I tried with WPA2, no luck.
Tried with WPA2 and pw 1234567890, no luck.
Tried with WPA and pw 1234567890!, no luck.
Tried with WPA and pw 1234567890, no luck.
Tried WEP with 1234567890, no luck.
Tried with NO SECURITY on this wi-fi network, connected right away.
-I did reset PRAM, no luck.
-I deleted from Keychain, no luck.
-I added as prefered network and removed, no luck.
-I added new network location, no luck.
-I removed the Wi-fi network adapter, rebooted, activated, no luck.
-In the mac console logs, all I see are "wlEvent: en1 en1 link DOWN" when I try to connect to my secured wireless network (home or my office or even at a neighbors).
-Wireless diagnostics tell me nothing
-Console logs do not tell me anything
-Warranty is expired and no AppleCare
Seems like a bug to me, even though I have tried with a Netgear, Cisco/Linksys, D-Link router and even tried tethering to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5, all same problem, says "Connection failed."
APPLE FRIENDS HELP ME PLEASE!For example, our wireless password is: 123456890!
Well a password that weak will get cracked in about 6 hours on just about any PC in the area.
Now: LKUY*&T&67NH(*JKÎM<PijriuÎÓyhm8t, that's a real good network password, even a huge botnet would have trouble cracking that. I know because my router was PING flooded by the Flashback botnet and survived.
After OS X is reinstalled over itself to fix it, you might have to do more as it could be a "in user account" issue with a corrupted preference file, bad users permissions or another cause that's not OS X

Remote console crashes when I move workstations between PGs
Hello,
I have an SCDPM 2012 R2 UR2 server (4.2.1235.0). I manage it remotely using DPM console installed at my workstation. We use client protection to protect files from some of users workstations. When I move a client between two client protection groups, my
remote console crashes and I see an errors in Application log:

Where "PCNAME" is a name of workstation I moved between PGs BEFORE current move. i.e. I moved "PCNAME" then I'm moving "PCNAME2" and receive console crash with "PCNAME" in logs.
You can find Crash-file of DPMUI0Curr.errlog here: http://pastebin.com/jwtbTyFp
http://about.me/exchange12rocksWhat operating system are you using? What processor does your computer have, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean space is on your hard drive? When did you last run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter?
Have you ensured that you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple.com?
What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
When you add the video to your timeline in Expert view, is there a yellow orange line along the top of the timeline, above your clips? This would indicate a mismatch between the program's project settings and your video specs? -
I've been unable to use that very usefull diagnostic tool Console.app for some weeks now. Every time I try to launch it, it crashes. I've lost count of the automatic notifications my computer has sent to Apple. I'm pretty sure this started before the latest 10.6 software update.
I tried copying the app from a bootable USB stick I made last month. (since reformatted for another use) It worked from the stick but not after I copied it to my Applications folder.
I tried reninstalling the OS...no joy. All I got out of it was an unproductive several hours restoring from backup, relicensing software, resetting preferences, etcetera ad-nauseum...and Console STILL doesn't work.
I'm outa ideas. Can anybody help?Console crashes in Safe Mode as well - just seems to take longer to do it. Crash Report looks the same but I can't read most of what's in there at my current state of ignorance.

Nothing there looks to me like it's related to Console, but what do I know?
BTW:
To Torn-Barb,
I'm running OS X 10.6.8 and all the latest updates in a 13" MacBook Pro, (haven't had the time to mess with Lion yet) and I don't really know when this all started but as I stated in my original post, I'm pretty sure this started before the last Software Update.
Oh! and the USB stick referenced no longer holds a bootable installed OS. It now holds a clone of the SnowLeopard install DVD. -
I no longer have the computer my ipod touch was sinked too, my ipod has now crashed, when conected to my latest pc it states this computer is not the supervisor pc for this device, can anyone help

Please help.Hi,
Did you by chance restore an older version of the DPMDB or rebuild the DPM Server ?
Run the below Query in SQL Server management studio and see if they match.
use msdb
select * from syscategories
where category_id = 100
or name like '%dpm%'
use DPMDB --verify DPM database name and change accordingly
select * from dbo.tbl_DLS_GlobalSetting
where PropertyName = 'DPMcategory'

I have tried to reinstall the console and recreated the Users profile but the problem still persists. This affects all users that use the machine. On other machines they are able operate just fine. Any Ideas on what could be causing this?Maybe not enough RAM on the box?
I would also clear the cache on the box which may help

logging onto frontierville on facebook i get a message that says "adobe flash player has crashed" so I downloaded the latest version & installed it & I still get the same message & i cant play my game - what to do?
== URL of affected sites ==
http://apps.facebook.com/frontierville/?crt&aff=bookmarks&src=bookmark&newUser&sendkey&ref=bookmarksI have had the same problem with firefox on facebook. It has happened for the last couple weeks. I can receive gifts under requests and every game I try crashes. I can usually read my homepage. this is getting really bad. I have cleared caches, downloaded what I am told to download to update, and cleared history and cookies and still happens , and have been told to get rid of firefox. what is the problem? and when I sent reports , nothing. and sent emails to all the games and told them and asked for help and never get responses. should I through the computer out the window, or delete you? I know they keep changing things on the games and that usually crashes stuff on mine, but all the time? this sucks. and I probably won't get a response from you either, but if this continues I will have to say, bye bye. It's ridiculous..before the crashes, it would take me over 2 hours to do a game and work on it. there was life before this and will be afterwards. it also happens on my regular email..not the crashing, but so slow and the download goes up and goes way down to almost nothing and keeps doing that.please help us all..thanks.

Console crashes immediately after opening
Console crashes every time I open it. I've tried various suggestions that I have found on the forums here. I've deleted the console plist, started up in safe mode, run repair file permissions and repair disk, all to no avail.
I logged on to another user account and found that console appeared to run normally while in that account, but I can't get it to work in my own account, which is the administrator account.
The only remedy I can think of now is to create a new administrator account and delete the old one. Is this likely to work after I copy over all my files? Has anyone got a better idea?It is likely to work, until/if you move a certain pref file over.
You might try opening some logs in the new account to find out the problem... system log or crash logs. -
SCSM 2012 R2 UR5 Console Crashes When Viewing Business Service Components
I have an issue where a business service which has been synced from SCOM 2012 R2 into the CMDB I am unable to view the service components without the console crashing. This is occurring on all business services with service components present.
The error message reported is:
Microsoft.EnterpriseManagemnt.UI.DataModel.QueryFailedException: Query to adaptor 'dataportal:EnterpriseManagementRelationshipObjectAdaptor' Failed --->
Microsoft.Enterprise.Management.Common.InvalidCriteriaException: The criteria used for the query has a character or keyword that is not valid
Has anyone seen this before? Our server has been upgraded to UR5, as well as most consoles. Each of them, including the one that is available on the Management Server, crashes when performing the above task.
We installed the console + UR4 on a VM and the problem doesn't happen.
On ALL affected consoles, each crash is recorded with this message in the OperationsManager log:

Is there a way to remove this custom filter from the console without having to load the console? I cannot delete it in the console as every time I select it the console crashed before I can delete.Hi,
One of the below outlined options may assist.
Option 1:
You can attempt to rename the jobfilters.xml with the below steps. Please note renaming jobfilters.xml will remove all custom filters in place and they will need to be recreated.
Log into DPM server with the user account the custom filter was created with. Ensure the DPM console is closed.
From control panel select appearance---show hidden file and folders. Ensure for Hidden files and folders that the radio button is selected for Show hidden files, folders,
and drives
From windows explorer navigate to the following path
<OS Install Path>\Users\ <account logged in with when DPM custom filter was created> \ AppData\Roaming\Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager\JobsFilter.xml
4. Rename JobsFilter.xml to JobFilters_old.xml
5. Open the DPM console.
6. Navigate to Monitoring- Jobs we should see all custom filters are no longer in place. If so re-create pervious working filters if any.
Option 2:
Provide full DPMUI0Curr.errlog to assist with investigating further as it may contain errors on the crash.
Log into DPM server with the user account the custom filter was created with.
Take needed steps to reproduce the crash behavior.
From control panel select appearance---show hidden file and folders. Ensure for Hidden files and folders that the radio button is selected for Show hidden files, folders,
and drives
From windows explorer navigate to the following path
<OS Install Path>\Users\ <account logged in with when DPM custom filter was created> \ AppData\Roaming\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager\DPMUI0Curr.errlog

DPM 2012 R2 RU3 console crashes (v 4.2.1254.0)
Fresh install new server, OS is Windows 2012 R2. When adding an agent to a machine for backup purposes the DPM console crashes and restarts. Although the agent does install this seems broken. Anyone seen this yet?
