That's not really helpful.
What specific version of iOS is on the device and more importantly, what version of iTunes?
Just because someone believes they are running the current version does not make it so.

    Hi,
    It's certainly strange!
I don't normally recommend updating the bios ( unless it is known to resolve a particular issue ) but I do notice that there is a fairly recent update available Here.
If your not already at this level, it may be worth applying this - although it doesn't mention this particular issue.

  • Motherboard driver not listed

I have a L505D-GS6000 with no USB service, and no USB entries in the device manager.  Not a missing driver, just no entries.  I DO NOT want to restore windows and loose all files and programs (not backed up natch!!).  Can I reinstall chipset drivers for USB?  They are not listed in T. Support.  (Win 7 Home Premium, x64) Oh yes, Toshiba Service Station (v2.2.14) has been downloaded and installed but fails to initialize.

  • Cd/DVD drive not listed anywhere.

I do not have the dvd/cd drive listed in the device manager. the drive spools up and acts like it is reading.

The first thing to check is whether you can boot from the drive. Do you have a recovery disk or other bootable cd or dvd? If so, try it and if it can boot you know 100% the problem is software and not hardware. If it cannot boot it is hardware.
If you do not have a bootable disk or do not know how to use one, then the next thing to try is the registry edits to remove upper and lower filters. There is a Microsoft autofix linked here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/fixit4me/archive/2009/03/18/delete-lower-upper-filters-for-cd-devices-fix...
I have had more luck manually editing the registry and here are instructions on how to do that:

  • External Drive not listed under Devices

    Hello,
I recently (within the last week) bought a WD MyBook Studio 500GB HDD and have been using it for my media storage. When downloading files, through a torrent client, I have it automatically save to my External, but today something weird happened. The external shows up on my desktop but not under "Devices" in the Finder. It DOES show up if i click my computer in Devices, so its listed as a subset of my computer instead of an extra device. My torrent client gives errors when trying to access the data on the external, so i have no idea whats going on. Video link at screencast is attached just for clarification. Running on Firewire 800. http://screencast.com/t/j3Nm4NtolKo

    Hi Tyler Cordell-
A lot of folks have problems with those drive and their Macs. This is not an unusual thing to have happen. My first advice is to return it if you can and get something different.
Can you see the drive in Disk Utility? If so, are you able to repair it?
    Luck-

  • Fire Wire Drive not listed Device

There have been several similar unresolved related posts. So I'll launch in to this anew.
Powered up the Mac this evening, and my two external F/W drives did not appear on the desk top. They did not appear in the Device menu. All Cables and Power connections are correct. No recent changes Hardware of Software.
They do appear as Mounted drives when checked with Disk Utility. They Verify on problem.
The Drives seem to have been set to "Hidden" and I can not make them go back to normal. I was able to create an alias via the Finder/go/folders/volumes. But I don't want an Alias, I want my drives set back to normal.
    What should I try folks?
    Thanks,
    Rod

Do you have "Show disks" switched off in the Finder Preferences?

  • TS1538 apple mobile device USB driver not listed in Windows 7

Installed iTunes on my son's HP laptop, but when he plugs in his iPhone 4 it is not recognized in iTunes.  I've done the following:
    * Rebooted the computer.
    * Tried multiple USB ports.  The cable is good because the device can charge without any problems.
    * Restarted the Apple Mobile Device service.
    * Uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and all other Apple software.
    * Verified that there are no Apple related devices listed anywhere in Device Manager.
    * Been through all of the troubleshooting steps at this site:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
His iPhone is currently on a version less than 5.0.  iTunes is whatever is currently available from iTunes.com.
I'm stumped.  I'd love to hear some other idea.  I appreciate any and all help.

  • TS1538 What do I do after step 6 in "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed"?

i'm very confused about step 5, "Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed" > "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed", what do I do after step 6? I looked for and found the entry that recognizes the device as a camera, "Apple iPhone, now what? I'm trying to resolve an issue. After an iTunes upgrade in July 2012, I have not been able to get my iTunes to recognize any of my devices. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, all the steps. Now I'm on this one and I don't know what to do after this step 6. I looked and found the entry.... now what??? I am out of room on my phone because everything I buy on iTunes on the computer mysteriously appears on my iPhone 4, and everything I buy on my iPhone mysteriously uploads onto my iTunes the next time I open it. My phone will charge when connected to the computer, and Windows recognizes it and asks how I want to open pictures, etc. But in iTunes it will not show up under Devices. This is getting beyond ridiculous and I have to get some of this music off of my phone!

Found a possible solution for me.
While the phone was plugged into my computer and iTunes is CLOSED.
    1. I went to Services in Windows.
    2. I selected Apple Mobile Device and right clicked and selected "Stop".
    3. Then I right-clicked again and selected "Start".
    4. Then I went to Device Manager and right clicked my iPhone with the yellow alert icon and selected "Uninstall".  You will get a warning about uninstalling the device.  Click OK.
    5.  At the top of Device Manager I clicked the Action menu and selected "Scan for Hardware Changes".
This re-installed the iPhone and everything started working again.

WE know Disk Warrior is more reliable, hence more useful, and should be in any disk mechanics toolchest.
For the record, I don't know anything of the kind. I have yet to see evidence that Disk Warrior is useful at all.
What I do know is that you seem to take every opportunity you get to promote it in these forums. Do you work for Alsoft?
Let me be a little more explicit. My opinion is that Disk Warrior is a waste of money if one has backups. If a journaled HFS directory is so badly corrupted that it can't be repaired by Disk Utility, then the volume should be reformatted and restored from backup, which has the same effect as running DW, but is probably faster and doesn't cost $99.

  • My internal "A" drive is not listed as an import destination

    I have 7 internal drives/partitions labledl a, c, f, i,k,, L and n
In LR 2 I had no issues importing directly to the A drive. For some reason, LR 3 does not list my "A" drive is as an import destination. It allows me to hit the + sign and
"add" a new folder. But I am actually just clicking through the folders until I get to the folder on the A drive that I need.  After import that destination is still not reflected in the choices.
I can change the drive letter but before I go through that effort (it affects other programs too) I wanted to see if anyone had a work around.
I am guessing this is a bug. LR may not look for drive starting with a or b since they precede the typical system drive letter of C. Not sure why but I am just guessing here.
    Anyone?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

hello everyone. I have recently installed a Samsung SSD (solid state hard drive) into my destop PC. For some reason Lightroom does not see it ? So i cannot ingest photos from it, or copy photos from a card to it. It is not listed as a drive option. LR sees every other drive. My computer sees it fine, so i was able to create a catalogue there. Im running windows 8.1. Any ideas ? I will also add that this drive became corrupt and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they didn't do a very good job.. ..

Yes pretty much that, but to clarify sorry
    Opened Lightroom.
    Create new catalogue.
This opened the Windows 8 file explorer window and Windows recognises the drive. So I was able to create a catalogue there and save.
I then inserted my memory card into my card reader which LR recognised. I selected it, chose all the photos within and then navigated to the right side of the Lr import dialogue window to locate this problem drive as on this occasion i want the RAW files on the same drive as the lrcat. However all my other drives are listed but not this Samsung SSD.
In addition this Samsung SSD is not listed a drive to import from in the same dialogue window.

I am trying to confirm the time at which a particular backup occurred using an external hard drive that I have since misplaced. Although time machine lists the backup times for some backups, it does not list them for all, including the one in question. Can someone help?

Okay, I've sussed it.  I saw a link to another discussion that hadn't turned up in any of my searches before I posted the question above.
My Tosh HDD was formatted to FAT 32 and therefore would not be backed up by Time Machine.  I removed all data from it - nightmare as I hadn't enough space to put it on the macbook HDD, but, after trawling through numerous photos and deleting rubbish for hours, I finally made enough space and copied all data across.  Then, after clearing the data from the Tosh HDD, I used disk utilitity to reformat it to Mackintosh OS Extended.  Chose the option without kournalling because I'm not baking up onto this disk and so don't need it - according to some other discussions I found.
When it was done I check on time machine in system prefs and once I selected options, I was able to remove it from the excluded from backups list.  Hey presto.  Now I'm moving my photo library and my music library onto the Tosh HDD and my macbook should start to breath again.  Hurray.

  • Rescue and Recovery 4.5: Boot Environment does not list Backups on USB Drive

    Hello,
I have a fresh installed Windows 7 on a X 230 and am now setting up my backup. The notebook came without an OS so I installed Win7, all drivers and the Thinkvantage Software myself. Then I made a backup with Rescue and Recovery 4.5 to an external USB 3.0 HDD. The Backup is listed in the Windows program, but when I boot to Rescue and Recovery, the backup is not listed.
Since there arent any options I could change during the backup or the recovery, I have no idea what went wrong..
    Thanks!

In the standalone boot of RNR, go to the advanced GUI, chose Restore.  After a few screens, you will see a restore from location, default is Local Hard drive.  This is a drop down list.  USB option is available in the drop down list. The USB must be connected during the standalone boot. If the backup is NOT the same UUID as your system, check the box that says show backups from all systems.
Also read my post dated Nov 22,2011 .  RNR backup reverts to local.  This may not apply to USB backups.
