Console log for power?
Hi Guys & Gals,
I was wondering if one of the console logs includes a message for when the computer is connected and or disconnected from power.
thanks,
-TT
Hi captfred,
plugging and un plugging the magsafe power adapter dose not seem to generate a message in var/log/system.log or in /private/var/log/system.log do I need to change the logging level or some thing? or am I looking in the wrong log?

Console.log for remote device?
I have everything setup so far. Inspect is pretty nice so far, I was doing everything manually with Charles, Weinre and vhosts, but the shadowing function of EI is pretty nice!
So, I'd like to see my console.logs in the Remote Inspection, but I don't see anything when I refresh the iPad. I have a very simple "Ready" message that shows up in the Dev Tools Console in Chrome on my desktop. Should I be able to see that log if I refresh in the remote iPad? (I'm also using the .xip.io vhost approach)
Thanks!You should be able to see all of your console.log messages from the inspected device in the weinre window, but there is one caveat to that and I think that's why you're not seeing your "Ready" message. For the page to be instrumented properly for remote inspection to work we have to inject a snippet of javascript into your page. We do that injection in the page load complete event on the device. That means that any log messages that happen prior to or within a short period after the page complete event can be missed. Any other log messages should work correctly and show up in the weinre window.
You might get better results if you put the weinre javascript reference into the page yourself, but I haven't tried it out.
Hope this helps,
Mark -
When I launch X11, I type in /sw/bin/xnameofapp to launch a app. when the app opens, I use it and then quit the app properly using the quit option within the app. Then I quit X11.
Even though I'm very careful, I get these very serious sounding logs from the console.log file regarding X11:
XFree86 Version 4.3.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)
_XSERVTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.X11-unix should be set to root
[DRI] screen 0 installation complete
Screen 0 added: 1024x768 @ (0,0)
Quitting XDarwin...
xterm: fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe) or KillClient on X server ".0"
This log file repeats each time I launch and quit X11.
The parts I'm most concerned about are:
- Owner of /tmp/.X11-unix should be set to root- because I have not enabled the root user, I am just the owner/administrator of the computer
- fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe) or KillClient on X server - because I do not like the sounf of fatal errors and because I've heard about I/O error on OS 9 and how bad they are. Also because I don't like the sound of KillClient
Should I be concernced about these entries? If they are bad, what can I do to fix it?No replies for weeks, but I found the solution my self. To close it properly, you have to close the "xterm" command-line window and then quit X11.

HT5884 Console Logs for Troubleshooting SMB
The Troubleshooting section in the article says "The following Console logs may help advanced users identify an issue." It then does not specify the logs. Does anyone know what Console logs are most helpful when troubleshooting SMB connections?

The "dark wake" is normal. The Spotlight crashes are not.

Detailed Console Logs For the Wireless Problem
So I'm yet another victim of the mysterious Macbook wifi problem. Have been for several months.
Anyway, I dropped into console, narrowed the search to 'airportd' and tried to activate AirPort from a problem spot in the house.
6/3/08 5:22:41 PM airportd[151] No networks found on channels remembered for bagwifi
6/3/08 5:22:41 PM airportd[151] Could not find "bagwifi"
6/3/08 5:22:41 PM airportd[151] Could not find any preferred networks; trying broadcast requests..
6/3/08 5:22:44 PM airportd[151] Broadcast requests also failed..
6/3/08 5:22:45 PM airportd[151] Probing highest ranked networks via directed scan..
6/3/08 5:22:47 PM airportd[151] Error: Apple80211Associate() failed -1
6/3/08 5:23:22 PM airportd[151] Error: Apple80211Associate() failed -6
6/3/08 5:23:22 PM SystemUIServer[95] Error: airportd MIG failed = -6 ((null)) (port = 36623)
6/3/08 5:23:22 PM airportd[151] Error: processcommanddict() failed
6/3/08 5:23:40 PM airportd[151] Error: Apple80211Associate() failed -6
6/3/08 5:23:40 PM SystemUIServer[95] Error: airportd MIG failed = -6 ((null)) (port = 36623)
6/3/08 5:23:40 PM airportd[151] Error: processcommanddict() failed
6/3/08 5:23:45 PM SystemUIServer[95] Error: airportd MIG failed = 1 ((os/kern) invalid address) (port = 36623)
Just for a recap... This problem happens anywhere I go, basically when I'm not in the same room as the access point. I've tried dropping AirPort from the configuration pane, I've changed the MTU, I've flashed the PRAM more times than I can really count.
I'm not that great with the internals of these things but maybe one of you knows what exactly the error codes mean.
I've also tried using the wireless under bootcamp in Windows XP, I have the same problems. Last night I tried the latest Ubuntu Live-CD installer and the wireless problems persisted, so I'm guessing something in one of the updates messed up the hardware.
Can anyone else try to replicate this?
I called the nearest Apple store and the Genius I talked to said that I was the first time he had heard of this problem. Anyway I figure it might be useless but I'm going to make an appointment with them and try to replicate the problem in-store.Don't pay any attention to anything you see here or on the rest of the Internet, especially when it concerns Apple. What looks like "a ton" is really only a handful of people. And you have no idea what they have done to their machines. There are several million other people who have no problem at all or are smart enough to diagnose a hardware problem on their own and take it in to Apple.
What you have already done in this thread is much, much better information than the average "me too" post you will find. No one posts diagnostics. No one makes an attempt to diagnose the problem. No one make an appointment to have Apple look at the machine. I've seen it over and over again. They just want to rant.
I suspect you will be up and running while all the "others" are still ranting. -
I just want to install greasemonkey...keep getting the 203 error code

Firefox 7.01 freezes. Console log included for narrowing down.
Corporate environment running Macintosh OSX 10.6.8 and Firefox 7.0.1.
Zimbra webmail web page loaded and works as long as user is using Firefox. When user steps away for a bit (maybe 10-50mins) they return to Firefox spinning beachball. I don't think this happens every time they step away.

The "scrolling beach ball of death" continues to inhabit every program on my laptop. After finding an article on trouble-shooting, I found the following logs inside the Console Log. But, I have no idea how to read what they mean. They were posted about the time that the SSBOD occurred the last time.
Can anyone assist in interpreting if these logs may point to some cause of the SBBOD?

Thank you,
JayHi,
First off, the network tab does not work in weinre with the exception of XHR. The resource tab is limited to Session Storage, Local Storage, and Databases. From what I know these are fact-of-life limitations of the tool.
I just tested the console tab and console logging for a local page and it's working fine for me with our hosted version of weinre. If you're not seeing logging messages can you describe about your environment and how you're testing? Can you provide a test asset that's not displaying console log messages? -
Lot of exceptions in kura-console.log. Tutorial not working for me
Hi David,
Well, now I have a wired connection to my pi and got kura up and running. But, my tutorial implementation did not work.
Later, I found there is a new 1.2.0 verion of kura, so I uninstalled 1.0.0 as per wiki steps and installed 1.2.0. I had the kura showing up again and deployed green house. But again, my LED and temperature sensors were not showing.
I was worried if my pi has gone bad, but I found that its giving right voltages at power pins. I checked it is reaching my sensors too.
Later, I looked into in the kura-console.log which looked huge. Here I am attaching it for reference. On face of lot of exceptions have occurred during its start up. I have no clues about it as I am getting started and did not want to deviate anywhere in the tutorial specification(all items used are brand new). Well only change is I have upgraded Kura to 1.2.0.

KrishnaHi David,
It worked!!
I had to follow steps as mentioned in https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruits-raspberry-pi-lesson-4-gpio-setup/configuring-i2c
I did it once and rebooted and all started to work!
Found it shared by Diego Alejandro PalmeiraFriend in this forum.
thanks,

We set up the Data Management Gateway and created a new data source (odata to SQL via sqL user)
Did a connection test and it was successful!
Tried the URL (maybe it needs more):
https://ourdomain.hybridproxy.powerbi.com/ODataService/v1.0/odatatest
That resolves to some :8051 port address and then spits out this message:
The server encountered an error processing the request. See server logs for more details.
I checked and the data management gateway is running.
Does that 8051 port need to be opened on our firewall for this server? How can I confirm that is the issue.. I see no event on the server indicating this is the issue?
I am seeing this event:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database 'PowerBiTest'. [CLIENT: IP of the Server]O365,
Is this still an issue?
Thanks!
