Console login trouble with Crystal Reports Server XI

I installed Crystal Reports Server XI on a new box (replacing old), then applied SP1, and then SP2 bringing it up to the same level as the old box - Version Name: BOXIWIN_SP2 Build Number: 11.0.101.8004.
However, when I restarted the server and logged into Windows, I received the error "CRSXI_MLB_Autorun.exe encountered a problem and needed to close." Although, all the services are running in Central Configuration Manager, I am unable to login to the Central Management Console with the default "Administrator" account (the screen just blanks the User Name: Administrator" field when I click "Log On".
The new server is running Win2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2. Old server is running Win2003 Standard Edition SP2.  I am using the same install media as was used on the old server, though installation on the old server was done before W2K3 SP2 was installed. Could it be W2K3 SP2, or perhaps the use or R2 or Enterprise Edition?  Any thoughts on how to fix this so I can login to CMC?

XIR1 used to have issues with Microsoft DEP, I don't recall exactly but you can set DEP to windows services only from my computer > properties > data execution prevention.
Also when logging in try changing the URL to (local host on the server, the IP address, or the FQDN) see if that helps. When there is no error the problem is likely not the CMS but could be in the web/app.
I don't think anything that was installed should be starting a file called "CRSXI_MLB_Autorun.exe" Could that have gotten added to the windows run registry key or startup group by accident?
Also if you login to a client tool like crystal reports, business views with administrator what error do you receive?

    the CRS licensing model does not support Voyager. You may want to consider installing BO Edge or BO Enterprise for this. I would recommend to contact your local SAP sales office to get more information on this.

    I am new to Crystal Reports, i installed Crystal Reports Server XI R2 on Windows 2003 server with SP2 and was able to launch Inforview application and also Central Management Console Log On.
    I can also see some sample reports which are installed during installation.
    Now my next task is to create Crystal Reports using Crystal Report Server XI R2. How can we create a crystal report now by only using Crystal Report Server XI R2?
    Do we have to install some other application to create Crystal Reports? I donot see any link on my server which i can use to create crystal reports. The only links which i can see are :

    Two ways to create reports:
    1) You install the Crystal reports Designer (CRW32.exe).
    With your Crystal Report Server, you should also have received a second CD that would have the CR designer.
    2) You use the RAS SDK and create reports on the fly using the RAS report creation APIs - .NET or Java. Since you are in the .NET developer forum, I assume you might be interested in the .NET RAS SDK. Here is a list of resources i would recommend:

  • Does CR 2008 work with Crystal Reports Server 11.5

    I currently have CRS 11.5 and am using CRXI. I would like to upgrade CRXI to CR2008 (visual advantage), but not upgrade CRS at this time. Does CR2008 work with CRS11.5? Any known issues to be aware of?

  • Trouble with crystal report viewer - don't show swf file

    i'm developing an  application with Crystal Report and Xcelsius.
    My scenario is:
    Visual Studio 2008
    Crystal Report 12.1.0.892
    ( for the cliente CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi)
    I tried to develop only the kernel of the application a form vb that call another form with
    crystalReportViewer (12.0.2000.0)
    My trouble is that i can't see the flash embed in Crystal Report file.
    (In the Crystal Report preview all wors fine)
    Can someone help me with this ?

    Unfortunately this functionality is not currently available within .NET windows forms applications.  It will work in ASP.NET applications.

  • Issue with Crystal Report Server

    Hi,
    I have a .Net application that uses Crystal Reports Server. The application runs from two servers through load balancing and one of them hosts RAS(Report Application Server) component as well. The issue I am facing is that the server that does not host RAS gives a timeout error periodically when reports are run, inspite of RAS running fine in the other server.
    Can anyone let me know if this problem has been identified before?

    What is deployed on each of these 2 servers?

  • Zoom functionality with Crystal reports server

    in crystal report there's a great functionality to zoom in a diagram. Is this functionality also available when I start the report within InfoView (Crystal Reports Server 2008) ?

    in Crystal Reports Designer you can 'zoom in' a diagram, when you right click the mouse and choose this option, but I can't see this option, when I start the report within InfoView.
    There's a big difference between choosing this option and zooming the entire report !!

  • XCelsius Engage Server 2008 integration with Crystal Reports Server 2008

    Hi there....
    I am kinda new to XCelsius and am confused with the integration points XCelsius Engage Server offers for 'Crystal Server 2008' users.
    The trial install package for XCelsius Engage Server (SP1) has a binary installation for XCelsius and then for Adobe LifeCycle DataServices. The installation document in the distribution does not talk about what the 'engage server' part is? and how it can get integrated to an existing CS 2008 installation ?
    any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated. Also is there a document/white paper explaining how this whole family of CS and XCelsius products fits together ?

    To answer your question.....No, I do not. But we have run Crystal Reports using P6 data.
    As far as I know Crystal Reports only needs a database of some kind in order to do its thing. Are you attempting to set up a "real time" data link (ODBC) to Crystal via SDK?
    If not, you could just build your own P6 exports or develop your own reports that would provide the data for feeding Crystal Reports. Maybe set up an automated Job Service task to run a batch of reports on a daily basis.

  • Problems with Crystal reports server 2008 VI (Invalid logon information)

    I have added a report that connects to the SQL server and also I set up the required ODBC for the report on the server. I could run the report without any issues.
    When I add the same report to another folder in CMC or add a new report that uses the same connection, and try to run it, I get the following error.
    I did set location and verify database in Crystal designer many times and added the report into CMC, but still it gives me the error.
    However the first report that I added still works fine. For some reports it shows the parameter screen and when I enter them and click OK it gives the same error. I checked the logon information and they are correct. Reports work fine in Crystal designer. When I added the report, in the database configuration I selected "Use original database logon information from the report." and entered the SQL user id and password.
    error message:
    "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect"
    I then went back to the database configuration and selected "Use custom database logon information specified here." and entered the ODBC connection info.
    With this when I run the report it takes a little longer and again asks me to enter the user id and password, even though I selected "Use same database logon as when report is run" option. Still when I enter the user id and password and click ok it keeps on prompting the same. I kept on entering it for 20 times, still it kept on prompting for the same. I am not sure how to make this work.
    The report that I am trying to run has an SQL command (that links with 10+ tables), views and some tables. It also got one dynamic parameter prompt.
    Also when I select the item from dropdown box "Table Prefix" and save and come back to the database configuration the option I selected is blank. It seems like CMC is not saving this. I found out that this sometimes happens with the password too.
    I have checked on SAP forum and could not find a solution for either of these problems yet.
    I do have created a web site with CR developer 2008 that runs the same report and it works there without any issues.
    Could any one help me with this?

    I assume that you have built your reports with the CR Designer 2008 V1. Try to open the affected report in the CR Designer and select Database->VErify database and save it back into the repository. Does it work?

    Hi all,
    I've been trying to install and run the crytal reports server and have had a number of problems. I got around the dreaded cms server can't start issue by deleting and reinstating the databases.
    now I have this when trying to login to Infoview
    Unable to retrieve system information. Please ensure that the system has a valid license key.
    I've been on and registered and try and enter the new license key into  the CMC but then get this error
    "There was an error while writing data back to the server: Unable to load keycode.dll"
    I'm guessing it's probably some sort of permissions/registry issue but don't know where to look next.

    We have installed the "Crystal Reports Server XI 2008 R2" and registered the product,  if we try to generate the crystal report at the server, it gives the below error message (Message logged at the following path C:Program FilesApache Software FoundationTomcat 5.5logs)

  • INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED message with Crystal Reports 2011

    Hello:
         We upgrade from SQL 3008 R2 to SQL 2012 SP1.   Had trouble with Crystal Reports not opening reports.  Information on the internet indicated that you had to reinstall Crystal Reports after upgrading SQL.  We did a repair of Crystal Reports 2011.  I have the box checked to check for updates when Crystal Reports starts.  I am now getting INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED and the application will not check for updates.  We have tried turning of the firewall and almost everything else we can think of.  I have access to the internet from that server and IE9 works just fine.  Can anyone help, please.

    You would need to enroll the licenses in maintenance if you want to upgrade them.

    I am raising this concern on behalf on Taxmantra project (Tata Consultancy Services noida).
    We have bought licensed Crystal Reports Server 11 near by 2006.We are trying to install the crystal server but while installing ,we have encountered with an error message that:-
    "The product key code you have entered is incorrect"

      By design, the product is not able to be installed under the superuser account.
    1.  Create a new user and specify a home directory for the user without a quota set.
    2.  Copy or move the installation files to a directory that the new user can read.  I suggest you move the installation files directly into the new user's home directory.
    3.  Logon as the new user (or su - newuser)
    4.  run the installation shell script using that new user's account.
    NOTE:  Ensure the system meets the requirements from the supported platforms documents.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 on IIS

    Hello,  About six months ago we upgraded from CR Server XI to CR Server 2008 and at that time I believe we could only install with Apache Tomcat for CMC and InfoView.  Before, we ran in IIS and I immediately noticed how slow the page loads were after the upgrade.  Is it possible to use IIS again with Crystal Reports Server?

    Tomcat and IIS are both used by many of our customers and both are very reliable in most cases. The advantage of tomcat is all of our apps can be used with it. I'm hoping they release a CRS version with .net built back in but tomcat is usually just as good. I run them both side by side in XIR2 and 3.1, both perform fine for me in DEV environments.

    Questions with Crystal reports server 2008 VI
    1. In my current VS2005 web application with CR 2008 developer I have done the following :
    a. When the user selects a report it prompts for the database that is needs to connect. User could select Test or Live database
    b. I could hide the export button for each report
    c. Add the same report twice to the same folder under diffrent report descriptions
    Could I do the same with Crystal reports server 2008 VI?
