Console says "Failures everywhere"

I experienced some strange behaviour today. It seems to be OK now, but Iäd like to understand what went on.
Earlier today, I was surfing the internet, reading news and some forums. Nothing extraordinary, and no dodgy websites -- honest! Anyway, after a brief while I logged out, and my Mac seemed to be doing what it always does. However, instead of ending up with the login window, it just stayed solid blue, no login window at all. The cursor was there, and could be moved around without trouble. After an hour or so, I pressed the re-boot button on the G4 tower. I haven't noticed any malfunctions since then, nor any strange behaviour.
I looked in the console. At quarter to seven, I decide to log out. I did not chose "sleep", unless I did so by accident, but that seems to be of minor importance.

I assume that it is at this point I get a solid blue screen. No login window, and nothing is happening. So I press the on/off button on my disply, which is set to put the computer to sleep. The screen goes black. I go away from the computer.

I come back, and press the on/off button on the display. The compuer starts, but all I get is a solid blue screen. So I press the re-boot button on the tower instead, and it starts normally.

The only thing I have installed recently is the Last Resort Font from Unicode. And seeing that the ATSServer is involved above, maybe that has something to do with all this.
Nothing seems to be problematic right now, and I have no specific problem. However, the phrase "Failures everywhere, trying one last time" does sound quite dramatic. I've seen enough disaster movies to know not to ignore stuff like that. So in order to prevent the world from certain and horrible doom, I'd like to understand what went on above.
Any ideas?

Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
If you cannot boot from your install disk, try booting in Safe Mode
Make sure you have sufficient disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see
Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.

  • Im trying to re-install Adobe photoshop elements and it says failure to install

    I would like to say that your customer Service is the absolute worst I have ever spoken to... I am having trouble re-installing my photoshop elements 4.0 on my computer. I just used it yesterday and went to re-install it today because my computer had to be restored to factory settings. I waited 10 min and the phone hung up on me. I called back and waited 30 min and then hung up because it was taking so long. Then called back, complained to the first rep, he transferred me to another rep who transferred me and I waited 52 min for a CSR to tell me that I need to go to forums.com. This is terrible..what is there job if they are just referring people to a forum. I would love to download 12.0 at some point but I do not have the funds at this time and the 4.0 will get the job done, but it will not let me download. I need this asap for my job. I am wasting valuable time from my job and kids w/ computer problems.
    Thanks

  • Exchange management console initialization failure

    Hi all.
    One of my clients SBS 2011 standard servers downloaded some updates yesterday & since then both the Exchange Management Console & Shell fail to open. In addition mail to the smart phones no longer works. Everything else seems ok. Mail is delivered
    & received via Outlook, all services are running. I have tried uninstalling the updates, but the Microsoft C++2010 Redistributable that was installed yesterday does not appear in the list of updates to uninstall. Only one of these updates is listed
    which is from 2012. This is the first part of the problem to resolving this issue. There are no "hidden updates" I am sure that this update was the most likely to be causing this issue. Any clues as to how to remove this update?
    The Exchange Management Console error is below.
    Connecting to the remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client cannot process the request. It cannot determine the content type of the HTTP response from the destination computer. The content type is absent or invalid.
    Exchange Management Shell errors.
    Connecting to the remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client received an HTTP server error status (500), but the remote service did not include any other information about the cause of the failure.
    Connecting to the remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client cannot process the request. It cannot determine the content type of the HTTP response
    from the destination computer. The content type is absent or invalid.
    I have checked the settings as per the following possible solutions.
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2027063?wa=wsignin1.0
    I have added & removed & added the WinRM IIS extension & ran WinRM Quickconfig
    I have checked Powershell directory in IIS on the problem server. Make sure SSL is not required. Allow
    only Anonymous access.
    I have run this command from the Windows Powershell - note the warning
    set-user yourusername -remotepowershellenabled:$true
    Warning: The command completed successfully but no settings of “domain.local/MyBusiness/Users/SBSUsers/User” have
    been modified
    Checked the ExchangeInstallPath environment variable
    Checked the application pool settings in IIS are set to Local System Identity
    About the only item I have not tries is to remove & reinstall the PowerShell directory. I will do this over the weekend.
    This server has been in operation for almost 3 years without an issue. Microsoft updates come down & now I have been working on the issue for about 6 hours. Any other ideas?

  • SunONE SP6 - admin console login failures

    Hi,
    I have just upgraded from SunONE 5.2 SP3 to SP6 running on Solaris 8. The upgrade appeared to go perfectly smoothly (i.e. no error messages) but now when I try to login to the admin server console with the old "admin" and associated password, it repeatedly gives me an error message saying "cannot login because of an incorrect userID, incorrect password, or directory problem".
    The documentation around the patch does not suggest that any passwords will get changed or that I need to do anything to the webserver that runs the console, although it appears to be this that is giving me a "401 unauthorized" error.
    I'd appreciate any help someone could give me as to why this error might be occurring ...
    Thanks,
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
    as far as I remember updating the Admin-Server will set the admin port to an random value, so it's worthful to check the admin-server.
    Anyway, please clarify:
    - is the DS it's own config-directory or does it use an remote one?
    - is it possible to log into the console using cn=directory manager?
    - is it possible to do ldapsearch using uid=admin, ... and the password you use on the admin gui?
    best regards
    Andre

  • Console says TM is working, but no backups to browse in TM!

    If I understand the output from Console correctly, Time Machine is busily backing up the 148GB HD on my MacBook to a shiny new WD Passport 250GB external drive and has been doing so for the last week since i first turned it on and Time Machine finished reformatting the drive.
    Only, it isn't: when I open Time Machine, only 'now' and 'today' are available on the right-hand side nav, no 'test' files that i've renamed or the day prior are visible, and nothing sits 'behind' the active window i'm looking at.
    I've posted the most recent console output below.
    I don't have any clue about where to start, would really appreciate some advice.
    Thanks!

    I think you should change the name of your hard drive to what it was before. Time Machine might get confused about its source disk otherwise and start a new backup set.
    +How'd you know that might be the problem?+
    I benefited from the pain of the bleeding edge adopters by reading the Time Machine forum before I upgraded to Leopard.
    +Is that documented anywhere so I can refer others to it?+
    Click on the Help menu in the finder. Type in "Time Machine" without the quotes. Then click on Show all Results. Scroll down and click on the article that is next to last, Time Machine backups are not visible. The same article is available on the Apple website.

  • Post deploy fails on 10.1.3.4. ESB Control console says see DT server logs

    Hello,
    We have recently upgraded our SOA Suite to 10.1.3.4. I was able to deploy all our ESB web services to the environment successfully. But after deployment, I restarted the J2EE server and after that when I login to ESB Control Console, I get an error in "Services" section as "Unknow Error in ESB. Please see the DT server log for details". I deployed services using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. Could that be a problem? Please assist us as it has brought down our environment for 1 week.
    Please note that we had everything working perfect in 10.1.3.3 & dont know what created the problem in 10.1.3.4.
    Thanks,

    It might be that your esb tables has no data.
    You can resolve this problem in the following way.
    1. Running irca again. This method has the side effect of losing all metadata (other esb applications) already deployed on the server.
    2. Connect to the database as esb user. Run the query "Select count(*) from esb_parameter". This query will return a 0 records found result. Now you have to insert the values into the esb_parameter table again.
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_MONITOR_TOPIC_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBMonitorTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_ERROR_XATCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_ERROR_RETRY_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBErrorRetryTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('DT_OC4J_HTTP_PORT','<<your AS http port>>');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_CONTROL_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_MONITOR_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_ERROR_TOPIC_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBErrorTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_ERROR_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_CONTROL_TOPIC_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBControlTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_DEFERRED_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('DT_OC4J_HOST','<<your AS host name>>');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_DEFERRED_XATCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values ('PROP_NAME_ERROR_RETRY_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');

  • Local console & RADIUS failure

    I'm running various Cicso devices with IOS 15.x
    I've configured AAA and Radius:
    aaa new-model
    aaa authentication login default group radius local
    aaa authorization exec default group radius if-authenticated
    aaa accounting exec default start-stop group radius
    aaa accounting system default start-stop group radius
    radius server foo
    address ipv4 192.168.1.1 auth-port 1812 acct-port 1813
    key 7 ..
    When everything is running fine, I can login either via SSH or via the local console and use my radius authentication.
    But when there is a problem (e.g. router not connected to network) I'm unable to login to the console. In fact, I'm unable to even get a login prompt! All I get is:
    User Access Verification
    % Authentication failed
    % Authentication failed
    % Authentication failed
    Which is scrolled off the screen.
    I do have a local user configured:
    username myadmin privilege 15 secret 5 ...
    If the Radius server is offline (but the box is on the network) I can SSH in with the backup username/password. But if the box is not connected to the network at all, I can't get it at all! I end up having to reboot and bypass the local config :-(
    What do I need to change, to get a console login prompt when the network is down ?
    Thanks,

  • IMac waking up..console says hijack!

    Hey...
    My iMac has been waking up allot during the night for the past few months... Someone when I come to it I find it not sleeping at all. I was told a few weeks ago when I catch it go to the system log.. I did that today and am now really worried its some sort of Mac Virus or something.. I could be wrong its just the name freaks me out.

    Address Book appears to be trying to gain access to the CPU or a datafile unsuccessfully. Since it's AB that's involved you might consider removing the referenced preference file and replacing it with one from a known good backup.
    If you have AB always open, see what happens if you quit it.

  • Firefox Console says "Unknown property '-rave-layout'.Declaration dropped."

    I'm just wondering because I'm trying to debug some css issues and ran
    across these.
    Is this a known problem?
    Is this innocuous?
    Is Firefox wrong? I'm using version 1.5.0.1
    ..., and while we are at it I also see this other Error
    Error in parsing value for property 'display'.Declaration dropped.
    this is referring to
    http://localhost:28080/MyProject/theme/com/sun/rave/web/ui/defaulttheme/css/css_master.css
    line 38
    which is this
    .AddRmvHrzDiv {margin:5px 7px 10px 0px; float:left; display:inline-table}

    This is not a problem or error, but a property used internally to jsc in order to store information on the styles that should be applied to a layout panel.
    The CSS spec allows for tools and browsers to extend the spec through new selectors, all of which start with a '-'. This can be seen by many of the tags that mozilla has added to the spec that are not recognized by IE and other browsers (-moz-border-radius stands out to me). While firefox does not know how to render this style selector, the internal browser in creator does, and that's what it is used for. You can safely ignore any warnings or errors that firefox generates from this.

  • BODS 3.1 :SMTP configuration to send email for success or failure of job

    Hi.
    This is further to this post : http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1965129&tstart=0
    Thanks to all for the help.
    I did not find a complete set of information as things to do (for a person who is new to BODS).
    Hence sharing the workflow which works for me when tested on a simple workflow  :
    Pre-requisite : SMTP service to be made available on the BODS server and port 25 to be opened up.
    This is done by the IT dept of the company.
    When smtp service is activated and port 25 is opened up, telnet IP address 25 should say, service is available.
    Suggestion : create a email group like : bods at company.com which can be used to be used for the BODS JOBs. Which does not prompt for a password. This also is done by the IT dept of the company.
    1) On the BODS server :
    1) Click open Data Services Server Manager
    2) SMTP settings for smtp_to functions :
    Add the IP Address of the SMTP server
    Add the email address of the sender. Eg. bodsjobs at companyname,com
    3)Apply/Restart the server.
    2) Login to BODS Designer :
    Create a test job :
    TRY ==>DF===> Script for success ===> CATCH script for failure
    In the script for success : add the following :
    print (' IN TRY BLOCK Before email ' );
    smtp_to('bodsjobs at abc,com', ' SUCCESS OF JOB  :  '
    || job_name(),'Job completed successfully ', 0, 0);
    print('After Email ');
    In the script for Catch add the following :
    print (' IN CATCH BLOCK Before email ' );
    smtp_to('bodsjobs at abc,com', 'FAILURE OF JOB : '
    || job_name(),
    error_number( ) || 'Error message: ' || error_message( ) ||
    'check details', 50, 50);
    print('After Email ');
    Note : In the catch : select all exceptions on the check box.
    Save all.
    Click on the job and say execute.
    The job will run and if it is successful. You will receive the succes mail.
    If there is any error in the DF before the catch, you will receive a mail, which says failure.
    The above workflow, when tested atleast works for me.
    Hope this  helps.
    Regards
    indu

    Hi Arun.
    Am really not aware as to how to make things work from the console.
    I work on windows environment both at client and on the server.
    It looks like you got a bit confused on suggestion of a email group account.
    I never did anything on outlook configuration for activation of smtp for bods.
    I think you should not mess with outlook.
    I dont know from the client side how things work.
    But i have worked directly on the BODS server where the bods installation was done.
    It is relatively very simple to do and to test.
    But to even test why you get that error.
    All you need is just a email id. Which could be yours ???
    Put your email id as the source of email in that box in the job server.
    And put only your email id in smtp_to and test it.
    Run a test job. If it completes successfully. You will receive a mail.
    In the catch, if you have checked all the boxes for error capture,
    if the job fails, it would throw a dump of the errors in the email.
    Once everything works well and you receive emails for any jobs you are running.
    Then you could decide for the source of your email id and for the receipients of your emails of the jobs.
    You could put a group id of your team as source. And also in smtp_to script in case you want everyone to receive the alert that the job has been done or it has errors.
    Or include only those email ids in the smtp_to whom you feel, should receive the mail.
    Hope this idea helps.
    Please dont mess with outlook for any smtp activation for bods.
    It is not required if you are working on a windows environment.
    You just need a email id for testing.
    Outlook configuration does not come into picture at all.
    if there is any other unix environment involved. I have no idea.
    And i really do not know how things would be from a client side to configure.
    Server configurations i do from the server.
    I did all configurations on the main server machine. Not from the client.
    And I have only one job server so i did everything there.
    I did not do anything from management console.
    I use management console only for monitoring of jobs on a daily basis, the dashboard which gives you details of the data pulled, time taken etc etc.
    cheers
    indu.
