Consolidate Regions to make one new audio file ?

Hi.
I have recently started working with a songwriter who is using Logic Express 7. . He is not a "wiz" with Logic & I work in Pro Tools.
I want him to be able to consolidate his audio regions in Logic to one audio file, ( with out bouncing ), that he can then send to me. .
So my question is, what is the simplest way for him to do this ?
Thanks in advance for any help. .

Yes.
Basically, i would create short dummy regions at 1 1 1 to make sure all the consolidated regions / audiofiles start at the very same point so that you have no problems finding the correct start point in PT. Furthermore, i would create dummy regions at the end of the song to make them all the same length - this can come in handy if there is a snychronisation issue and one of the regions somehow doesn't fit. In this case, you have a second reference point to work with.
I guess i don't have to tell you to watch out for the correct sample rate and bitdepth...

  • Ideas for making CD from one long audio file

Hi. Any angels out there willing to suggest the easiest way to make a CD of songs from one long audio file? I'm a teacher and recorded my little 4 year old students singing all their favorite songs. Now I want to turn it into a CD for parents. Should I create new files for every song, cut and paste that part of the audio file into its own song file, save, then throw them all into wave burner? Seems laborious but can't figure another way. Thanks if you've got an idea!

I've only used WB once, so I THINK this is the way to do it:
Import the whole single track into WB, and use the scissor tool to cut the file where you want the new track to begin. Wherever you cut WB will make a new track. Then you can tweak the beginning and end of tracks, or do fades accordingly. When you burn it will create a CD with these tracks.

  • New audio files receives error message from iTunes - You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.

Every time a new audio file is downloaded onto my desktop, (or if I double click on a new audio file) iTunes no-longer will play them. It gives an error message stating: Attempting to copy to the disk "Mackintosh" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operations.
Please can you help me to resolve this situaion. I confess that I am not very computer savvy.

    Launch iTunes on the computer.
From the iTunes menu bar click Store > Authorize This Computer
Make sure to sign in using the same Apple ID used on the iPhone.
    Then sync your iPhone.

  • Trying to split one large audio file into tracks

    Hi;
Awhile ago I mistakenly imported a CD into iTunes, as one large audio file, containing all 10 tracks. Now I'd like to know how to split this file back into it's separate tracks, and re-import into iTunes.
    Any thoughts?
    TIA.

MP3 editor is a lossless editor for MP3 files.
-> Fission, will do lossles editing of AIFF, WAV, MP3, AAc and Apple Lossless.
You can do it yourself but the songs will be re-encoded (not lossless) but may not be a big deal.
On the song, right click - get info. Click the Options tab and set the Start-Stop times for the first song.
Then select the song, menu Advanced - Create AAC version {or whatever is selected in iTunes prefs -General - Importing}.
This will create a new copy of the song between the time markers. Select the new song, righ click - get info and update the song title.
Then on the original song, set Start-Stop times for the second song and menu Advanced - Create AAC version the for the 2nd song.
Do this for all the songs in the original file.

  • HT3659 My Soundtrack pro looses the mic on AJAKona.  It will appear as an input only after clicking on New audio file, then ok, Recording alert appears and then I have my AJA KONA3g back as an input option. loose it again if I change track

My Soundtrack pro looses the mic on AJAKona.  It will appear as an input only by clicking on New audio file, then ok,  and an Recording alert comes up.  But if I change track I loose the AJA again. How do I fix this?

Finally found the answer. The recording was done at 48, the audio/MIDI settings were set to 48, but the sampling setting on the export was not, causing everything else to break down. Once all three matched the export worked and the playback audio worked without opening the clip editing screen.

  • How would you do this?  CD tracks from one large audio file

I just recorded in a live concert into Soundtrack Pro. The file was recorded at 16bit & 44.1KHz. I want to make a CD of this without any gaps. I am curious how to put in markers/CD tracks so that I can jump to each song.
Anyone know of a way to do this without breaking all the audio up into individual files?
    Thanks!
    Gary

Afaik, there's no way to do it in STP without doing independent audio files for each track. In theory, you could create an audio file for each track, don't have any space between each track and burn your CD DAO (Disk-At-Once) and everything should be fine. However, I'd rather have one long file and just put markers where you want the track indexes. If you have Waveburner, you can do this with it. If you don't, Peak can do this as well but my new favorite software for that job is Wave Editor:

    At 79$, it's a no-brainer deal!

  • How do I make a new backup file of my current library?

I just finished locating all my music in my C drive (manually & individually!) since 7.7 wiped out my library and I would like to make a completely new backup file location of this library so that all my music is in one location (just in case, for next time). For some reason my music was in like 3 different iTunes music files and it was quite a nightmare switching back and forth.
Is there an easy way to do this? And can I set up iTunes to now automatically backup new music to this new location?
    Thanks

    Nothing automatic within iTunes.
I use a backup program to copy entire itunes folder to another drive. No compression, archiving, or renaming; just a straight copy. Granted, this uses up twice as much space but I feel safer than about being able to get accidentally deleted files back.

  • Breaking Up One Long Audio File Into Segments

I have an audio file attached to a slide (I'm not allowed to attach it to an object).  It describes five different processes that are represented by an image on the stage.  The image looks like five different banners, but it is actually one image.  Each banner has an image of a speaker on it, and the idea is to have the learner click on the speaker to hear that part of the audio (which describes the process represented by that banner).
I have inserted buttons and placed them on the timeline so that the pause symbol is just before each audio segment, but I don't get a pause.  What have I left out or done wrong?

The problem is that if that audio is associated with the slide, the entire audio file must first play out before you can pause the playback. As far as I know, there is no simple way to stop audio playback in the middle of the slide without user interaction (clicking on a button or clickbox, which would invoke an Advanced Action that pauses playback).
I would try to make six copies of the same slide. I'd remove audio from all but second slide. I would then set the audio markers so that each slide after that second one begins at the specific point in time from that audio (go 'Audio', then 'Edit...', then 'Project'. Arrow right to the first slide of this group; listen to the audio, then move slide markers to the beginning points of the audio for each slide (Ctrl+5)). This way, I have the single audio file spread across five slides.
All that's left to do is to create click boxes over those speaker icons and point them to each respective slide. For each click box, I'd change "On Success" action to "Jump to Slide". For each slide, I'd change the "On Exit" action to jump to the slide following all these. That way, if a user clicks on any of the speaker icons, he will be taken to the slide corresponding to that banner, and the audio will play back from that particular part, will only play the relevant segment and will stop at the end of that segment. If they click on the 'Next' or 'Continue' (or whatever you label your navigation buttons), he'll to the next slide in the module.
Obviously, if you can break up that audio into individual segments, you can associate each segment with its own slide. The rest of the process still applies.
There may be a simpler solution, but this is what I could come up with, considering my limited experience with Captivate.

  • Breaking up one long audio file into cd tracks

I have an hour long concert that is one audio file (16bit/44Khz/Aiff). I want to make a CD of it without any gaps. Is there a way to put tracks/markers in this audio file and have Itunes burn it? I want to be able to jump to each song on the CD.
    Thanks
    Gary

I don't know if itunes will do this, and what you want is not possible with an audio CD format anyway. If you want tracks on an audio CD the file has to be split up. You'll need an audio editor such as Audacity to do that (unless itunes has added a lot since version 7.5). However, with some burning software you can minimize the gap between tracks so you only get a slight hiccough at the transition.

  • How can I make an mp audio file of a video clip that I'm working on in iMovie?

I have a video clip residing within an iMovie project.  I want to create an audio file of this to take into Audacity so I can make cleaner audio edits (pulling up audio, deleting extraneous audio, etc) to insert as voice over in my movie project.  iMovie is not sophisticated enough to do this.  I don't see an easy way to "export as MP3" or other audio file.  Am I missing something?  Thank you.

  • Soundtrack Pro crashed. Now can't open or create new audio files.

I was editing an audio file in Soundtrack Pro v1.1. I also had Flash, Parallels and a few other applications open. I plugged in my USB headset. Parallels crashed. Then Soundtrack Pro hung up. Then I had a complete system crash and needed to restart. After restarting I can no longer open Soundtrack Pro files or create new files. All other applications including Final Cut Pro seem to be working fine. I tried reinstalling Soundtrack Pro, but that didn't help. I don't get passed the Soundtrack Pro spash page. I can select menu items such as preferences, help, and even new. However, when I select create new file nothing happens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I deleted the preferences file (soundtrack.plist), then restarted the application. That didn't work.

  • One big audio file

When I sync my iPhone, the memory used changes during sync by about 0.55 GB, every time.  The  song count changes by 1.  So somewhere, I have asong that's 0.55 GB, but nothing that big shows up on my listing. Any suggestions where to look?

    Insert the CD.
    Don't Import it yet.
    Select the CD in iTunes.
Select the consecutive tracks uyou want joined as one file.
Go to menu Advanced > Join CD tracks.
Do this for each set of tracks you want as one file.
    Then Import the CD.
If the tracks are already in iTunes, no need to import them again.
    Use this -> Join Together
"Join Together automates the process of joining the files of selected iTunes tracks together with QuickTime and exporting them as a single AAC Music or Audiobook file/track. Optionally, you can then create a "chapterized" audio file of the exported AAC file with pointers to the individually joined tracks."

  • Problem Recording new Audio files?

Same here! Playback seems to run smoothly, but when I try to record a new file, It takes a good minute+ to start recording..and get this, it doesn't start recording until that minute+ into where I started
I am using a macbook pro 2.33 / 2gb RAM...via firepod. Of course this can handle it. Anyone know what the problem might be, and how I can fix it? greatly apprecitated!

ok... i figured out that this problem only seems to be happening in projects that i started in logic 7. i just opened up a new blank project and tried to record something and it works as it should, but it still takes about a minute to start recording in the projects i transfered over from logic 7.
i assuming this is just a bug.
hopefully there will be a fix before the time comes to record vocals for these tracks

  • How can I convert a track with multiple comps to one new complet audio file

I have one track that is great - but it is composed of different sections (NOT regions) which are different comps from punching in on different regions -- (you can see the divisions between the comps, and each different comp has its comp number (or name) - but these are NOT region divisions). I would like to make the whole track one new audio file to work with - that is, join all the comps together as one new audio file (as you would join separate regions on a track into one new audio file). All I can think of is to unpack the track (comps) onto different tracks (channel strips) which would make each comp a new region on a new track and then paste them back together and then make an audio file, but this seems fairly complicated

hey - it appears that this worked -- i exported it to another track (as an audio file -- this is done in the "file" menu) and it now is on a new track in t he same project as one audio file without an divisions between the comps -- appears to have worked -thank you so much (btw, don't forget to tell it what type of file you want it exported as, it wants to default to aif, --i record in wav files 24 bit
thanks again for everyone's responses - this forum has helped me so much

  • How to export  sequence of  identical audio files?

    Adobe Premier Pro CC 7.2.1
I have a big audio mix on the soundtrack consisting of many short different  same duration audio files. now I need to export a sequence of identical files into separate audio track for further processing in to the DAW. the best way to do it is change the color of each identical audio, but I have not found this function or mute from project or just see titles or set up so that when I add  new audio file  it created a separate channel in the mixer not available for other or something like this... otherwise I must push each audio to see title to drag sequence of identical audio file to separate channel and mute others. my mistake is that from  beginning I did not put the identical files to separate channel and now everything is mixed. is there any solution?

Sorry, but the previous answers are not quite correct. Consolidate tracks will only merge all your edits and fades and make a new audio file out of it. It wont consolidate any automation or insert effects. The same is true for exporting audio from the regions pane. Therefore you still have to perform a "bounce to disk" in order to consolidate properly. So no it doesn't have the "Export All Tracks as Audio Files" option......
    Christian,
When "exporting" from one DAW to another, it's generally understood that automation and plug-ins will not be included.
Exporting from Pro Tools does indeed bounce the files to disk. We aren't talking about a stereo mix here. We're talking about exporting all the individual tracks. Are have I misunderstood you?
.... which leads me on to this question. How long has logic had the "Export All..." function as I have been performing "track lays" (i.e. getting my logic stuff ready for a pro-tools mix) for films that can often take days to perform and am embarrassed to stumble across this option on this forum as I fear I may have cost myself several weeks of my life working the long way round!!!
"Export All tracks as Audio Files" was introduced in version 7.0.
Don't feel too ashamed though. I have a good friend, who has been using Logic daily as long as I have (8 years or so now), who only 3 months ago, saw me utilizing that feature, and his jaw dropped. He too, had been wasting "weeks" of his life, doing it the way you have been doing it. : )
You're gonna absolutely LOVE using that feature from this day forward...!
