Consolidate Servers into Cluster
We currently have 2 standalone print servers that have separate objects. We plan to consolidate the objects on those servers onto one print server. If we follow the steps here will
the objects still exist on the old print server after the migration?

Based on your description, I run Printer Migration wizard and check “Export printer queues and printer drivers
to a file” option to export printer data in my lab environment (a Windows Server 2012 printer server). After completed the migration wizard, the objects (printer data) seems that still exist on the old printer server.
You can export print queues, printer settings, printer ports, and language monitors, and then import them on
another print server running a Windows operating system. This is an efficient way to consolidate multiple print servers or replace an older print server. Please also refer to following TechNet article.

Thank you for the question. It sounds like you have two separate iTunes Libraries but would like to add the music from one to the other to have one consolidated library.
If you know where the files are for each library, I recommend opening one iTunes Library in iTunes and importing the files from the other library using the following steps:
Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
MacAdd to Library
Windows
Add File to Library
Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add

Next, you can search for duplicates:
Choose View > Show Duplicate Items to show duplicate items (matches are based on the song name and artist). If you have multiple versions of the same song (for example, live and studio versions, or versions from different albums) you can hold the Alt or Option key (for Mac OS X) or the Shift key (for Windows) and choose View > Show Exact Duplicate Items. This will show only duplicate songs having the same name, artist, and album.

This should help you identify the duplicates all at one time so that you can delete the extra versions of songs.

I have just added an album to my iTunes from a CD. But the tracks are now displayed in 2 places in my iTunes library -- as if I had downloaded 2 seperate albums. How do I consolidate them into a single album in my iTunes?
Did you use the same method to add each of the six albums to your library? With some of iTunes configuration options, some imports (CDs, Store purchase, use of the Automatically add to iTunes folder) will go into the standard media folder location, but the other methods to add media files already on your PC (Add File to Library..., Add Folder to Library..., drag and drop) will leave the files in their original spot.
The other factor that may influence where iTunes locates media files is the setting of the "part of a compilation" flag in the media metadata. When this flag is set iTunes (when configured to organize your media and copy all additions to the media folders) will place files in iTunes Media\Music\Compilations\album_title rather than iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_title. -
How should a segment my servers into VLAN's in a datacenter design
I am designing a data center with over 200 servers and I am trying to decide how to segment my data center into VLAN's. I have thought about putting all servers in a different vlan to guard agaist broadcast storms and also a failure that might effect the vlan as a whole. I know I can use storm control to limit broadcast storms.
Another thought is to put all Windows servers into one Vlan and all UNIX into another.
Another thought is to group the servers into VLAN's by the applilcations they support.
Can anyone tell me how they do this in a large data center and if any the pros and cons to doing it that way.As stated you're going to need at minimum two 4000s. Since there are 200+ servers in this you may want to go with the 6000s. Obviously you'll need to do layer 3 and have a couple GigE trunks between those two switches to handle any cross switch traffic. Since you have so much riding in this data center you're going to want some horsepower at your gateway. Maybe look into redundant 3700's and use HSRP. Is this a design for a colo type data center or is it all internal servers to your company? I guess if it was the former I would split it out by *NIX / Win, and keep each VLAN down to a /29 and put 4-5 servers in each. This way, if you do have a problem it is segmented relatively well. There are so many variables, it's hard to say with just a few lines to go off of.

I am trying to deploy a MDBean in my cluster ( two servers). The MDBean requires
the destinestion has to each cluster server. It means that I have to deploy my
JMS server over the cluster. This will result multiple destinations (queue or
topic) are created.
Is there a way to run one JMS server with a clustered MDBean?

In that example I use the picture control to manipulate a bunch of rectangular images of booleans.

Hopefully this is the right place to post. Have searched quite a bit through the forums (not all 19000+ pages though), and can't seem to find a similiar issue.
I have also searched the internet and tried all solutions others with a similiar problem have.
This is my problem:
We have two servers running Server 2008 R2, set up as Remote Desktop Servers in a cluster setup.
The session broker is located on the second server (This is an active server which has sessions load balanced to it). There is also a DNS round robin setup
Problem: When sessions are allowed to be load balanced on Server2, then the users cannot connect to the cluster. The round robin seems to still send some sessions to the first server, and these seem to connect fine.
I suspected the issue was with the WMI Respository, and so started. I found a lot of errors, but have been unable to fix them.
I downlaoded the WMIDiag from Microsoft, and here is the report:

I have also tried registering the mof files with

Lastly, I even disabled the WMI service, renamed the Repository folder, and had it rebuild the repository.
I got stuck on re registering the 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM' (I think it is in the Components section in Administrative tools), as I could not find clear instructions on exactly how to go about it.
Chkdsk found no errors
Sfc /scannow found no errors
winmgmt /verifyrepository finds no errors.
I'm hoping someone here might be able to steer me in the right direction to get this resolved, as I do not want to rebuild a server that hosts a connection broker and has over 100 user profiles on it, as well as some very annoying and finniky LOB apps installed,

In addition, you mentioned Remote Desktop Servers are in a cluster setup, would you tell us how did you create the cluster?
As far as I know, with RD Connection Broker, we don’t need to create a cluster but just add multiple RD session hosts into one collection, then RD connection Broker would redirect sessions automatically.

There are two keys that can be configured here - one for the server name (DatabaseServerName) and one for the database name (Database Name)
Set those values to the new SQL Server name and database name (if different than originally).

Moving printers to consolidate servers without interrupting users [Windows 2003 to 2003]

How do I go about moving network printers served from ServerA to ServerB, decommission/shutdown ServerA, and be completely transparent to users without causing them the need to remap printers?
My company is still at Active Directory level Windows 2003 SP2, and has all of our printers on several Windows 2003 SP2 servers. I am in the midst to decommission several old servers and consolidate print servers and then upgrade the domain to Server 2012
levels.
Right now, a user may have a network printer setup so that it is listed as "Printer1 on ServerA"
I want it so that when I move the printers to ServerB, users can still use their already setup "Printer1 on ServerA", instead of having to map them with "Printer1 on ServerB". Although, any new printers added from the consolidation point
forward to a users PC would be "Printer1 on ServerB".
My plan is to use my Windows 7 PC to:
Use Print Management to migrate/export ServerA printers to a file.
Use Print Management to migrate/import that ServerA printers file into ServerB. Using "Keep existing printers" in Import mode and "List All Printers" for List in the directory. [That would add ServerA's printers to
ServerB while keeping ServerB's printers. But I'm a little unclear which option to use for List in the directory.]
Shut down ServerA.
In our AD DNS, delete ServerA's A record and then either (a) add an A record for ServerA using ServerB's IP address, or (b) add a CN record for ServerA to point to ServerB's FQDN. [I think (a) is the better option, right?]
And then after the DNS refresh, the jobs should just come out of Printer1 on ServerA (as already listed/setup on my workstation) even though Printer1 now resides on ServerB.
I tried that plan last night, and things just didn't quite work out. My workstation said Printer1 on ServerA was Offline and I couldn't print to Printer1 on ServerA (which was imported onto ServerB) even though my DNS had ServerA with ServerB's IP.
For now I brought ServerA back online and people are working.
What am I missing or should be doing differently? Any issue with local security that would prevent one server to not accept commands directed to another servername? Thanks for your input!
Visual nutshell:
Printer1/ServerA ---> shutdown ServerA ---> Printer1/ServerB while those with Printer1/ServerA definitions on their workstations would still print.When I last went from 2003 to 2008 R2, I did things a bit different. I brought up the new server and migrated all printers. I then had both servers running at the same time with the same configuration but all the clients
were pointing to the old server. To move the clients I deployed this vbs script to all users using group policy as a logon script:

time until all users were redirected. I frequently then checked the old servers event logs for any print jobs until I no longer saw any and then shutdown the old server. Hope that makes sense.

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -
Consolidate tracks into one album
I have the latest version of itunes and I ripped one of my cd's last night. It's a 2 disc album and it ripped disc 2 fine as one album, but disc one is all separate tracks.
I have selected all the tracks and clicked "get into", changed all the info to the same and it used to combine all the tracks into one album, but now for some reason it won't work. I have tried the "consolidate" option and that doesn't work either.
I don't particularly like the new itunes interface to be honest, it looks very cold and uninviting

Thanks for your reply. I was trying to do this last night, I updated to itunes 11 a few days ago. I turned on my laptop this morning and found there was another update, so I updated and now it works!
The album in question is a various artists one, so I change the album artist to various artists, so it preserves the artist name on each individual track.
I don't know about you, but when an album has more than one disc, I always re-number the tracks and combine them all into one complete album, it looks tidier that way, instead of having disc 1, disc 2 etc.
I guess I'll have to get used to the new interface of itunes, as long as it works properly that's all that matters I suppose. -
Unable to add remote system into cluster using osx 10.5.2
About a month ago, I had a quartermaster managed compressor cluster setup with three (3) systems. I was running FCP 6.0. on one system with quartermaster on that system managing the cluster. Compressor, quatermaster, and quicktime were installed on the other systems. All systems were running osx 10.5. FCP 6.0 suite tools was installed on one system. One of the systems was an intel and I had a two (2) instances setup as well as a virtual cluster on the intel. All worked perfectly.
All machines were upgraded, to the latest quartermaster, compressor, quicktime, and osx 10.5.2 with the leopard graphics updates.
Now I can no longer join the remote systems into the cluster. On these systems I have share and managed set, for both rendering and compressor. Yet in quartermaster they only show up as rendering nodes. If I remove the shared option, then the nodes appear as a unmanaged compressor service. But they are greyed and cannot be added to a cluster.
Before the update, they would display in quartermaster as both rendering and compressor services and could be added to a managed compressor cluster.
Did the updates break something or is there a new requirement that I am missing?
thanksI'm having exactly the same problem on multiple machines, both Intel octocore and G5 quadcore. I'm running 10.5.4 with all the latest updates on all machines. Everything was working, now we can't drag any of the machines into a cluster to make a new one. Like you say, they only appear if Managed is unchecked (on the machine providing the QMaster service), and then are still greyed out, and not draggable. And you can't save a cluster without specifying the cluster controller, which you can't because nothing can be dragged in. The nodes appear to be unlocked (although the icon isn't very obvious), but even if they're locked, there is no password entry that pops up when clicked, and none have a password set in their QMaster System Preferences.
To test, I did a totally 100% fresh pristine Leopard install and a dual G5, ran all OS upgrades, then did a fresh FCP Studio 2 install, and ran upgrades again and repaired permissions just for good measure. No dice. Exactly the same problem as on the other machines. This is a brand new install and it doesn't work!
Very frustrating problem and I can't believe more people aren't seeing it. Totally fresh install, what else can be done? Well, time to call AppleCare, I guess. -

each cluster :- 3 managed servers (managed servers are on different physical boxes)
when monitoring the cluster we can see
for ms1 it shows : ms1,ms2 but not ms3
for ms2 it shows : ms1,ms2 but not ms3
for ms3 it shows : ms1,ms2,ms3
ms3 is Running.
Why ms1 and ms2 are not able to see ms3? This is happening with all the clusters.ms1 and ms2 are not able to see ms3.
Is the reason that heart beat messages are not received by ms1 and ms2 even though ms3 is running?
Is this because network issue?
Is it that if JVM is busy doing full Gc then it ignores Hearbeat messages. ?
Please correct me if i ma wrong.

Did u check if the server MS3 was running .. also did u see any exception/error/warn message in the system.out log.

Weblogic.Admin command for stopping all Managed Servers in cluster
Hello All,
I am using Weblogic 9.2 MP3 on Linux env. I have a domain which has 16 Managed servers which are part of a cluster, I have eight Managed Servers running on one physical machine and other eight running on another physical Machine.
I know we can do all stop and all start of Managed servers from console if we have node manager setup. We do not want to have node manager setup in our env.
I am looking for a way to do that using java weblogic.Admin utility
Please let me know on how we can achieve this using weblogic.Admin utility by passing clustername argument.

I think in weblogic 9.2 weblogic.Admin utility is deprecated but it works in 9.2. We have better option than weblogic.Admin utility nothing but WLST. If u want to start using weblogic.Admin we have command
java weblogic.Admin -url adminhost:listenport -username xxxx -password xxxx START managedservername
java weblogic.Admin -url adminhost:listenport -username xxxx -password xxxx SHUTDOWN managedservername
java weblogic.Admin -url adminhost:listenport -username xxxx -password xxxx START clustername
java weblogic.Admin -url adminhost:listenport -username xxxx -password xxxx SHUTDOWN clustername
If u want to use WLST for starting managed servers and clusters
check the follwing steps.
1. java weblogic.WLST
2. startNodeManager()
3. TAKE ANOTHER COMMAND PROMPT START ADMIN SERVER
4. TAKE ANOTHER COMMAND PROMPT
java weblogic.WLST
5. start('man1','Server') or start('man1','Server','localhost:7003')
6. start('mycluster','Cluster')
7.shutdown('man1','Server') or start('man1','Server','localhost:7003')
8.shutdown('mycluster','Cluster')
