  • RAW files from SONY RX100 II not seen by Aperture

Aperture does not recognize RAW files shot with the RX100.  I cannot import files.  This only became an issue after I upgraded OSX.  Everything worked fine before.  Do I have to wait for another RAW update for 10.8.5?

The raw support for Sony RX 100 II has been part of the update Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.08., so the camera should be supported.
Try to reinstall the raw support in a similar way as described in this thread:

  • Cant import raw files from sony rx1003 into iPhoto

Cant import raw files from sony rx1003 into iPhoto.  with rx1002 no problem! any suggestions?

Every model of a manufacture's camera have a different  RAW format and, therefore, you'll have to wait until Apple receives the necessary information from Sony so they can create a RAW Compatibility Updater that includes that model.
In the meantime you can try the Adobe RAW converter with might support that camera model to create a dmg file that iPhoto will recognize and begging shooting the highest resolution jpegs until the updater is released.

  • Photoshop CS 5.1 and raw files from Sony DSC  RX-100 -

I am trying to open a raw file from my Sony DSC RX-100 in Photoshop and get message that it isn't supported. I downloaded the update DNG Converter_8_5.dmg and it still won't let me. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, Marek,
Unfortunately this is a forum for the CommunityHelp application and not a Photoshop forum, so there isn't a way to get an answer here.
Might I suggest that you describe your problem in a Photoshop forum such as:

  • Unable to open raw files from Sony A6000

I get this message:"Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw," when I try to open files from the Sony A6000 though I have downloaded the most recent verisions of Camera Raw. The converter works but not CS5.
    Any suggestion from anyone.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information

Your CS5 is too old and cannot be updated to support the Alpha 6000 which requires Camera Raw 8.4 or newer.
You can either upgrade to PS-CS6 or PS-CC or the free option is to convert your ARW raw files to DNGs with the DNG Converter 8.4 or newer, and those DNGs can be opened in the older ACR plug-in with CS5.

  • Raw files from sony 77-2

How can I open raw file in elements 11 with new sony camera.

The A77 II was first supported in Camera Raw 8.5 so you’d need to convert its raw files to DNGs using the DNG Converter 8.5 or newer which you can get here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
It may be possible to update PSE12 (the version from the year after what you have) to use ACR 8.5 although Adobe’s pages list 8.3 as the last version.  This may be because of the OS requirements for ACR 8.4 and newer which are OSX 10.7+ or Windows 7+ whereas PSE12, itself, can be used with slightly older OSes that only work with up to ACR 8.3.
Anyway, if I was in your spot, since your PSE11 is too old to be updated to ACR 8.5, I’d wait for the next version of PSE as long as your OS is new enough.  A new version of PSE has been released on Sept 20-something the last few years, which would likely be next week.  So make DNGs for a few days and see if Adobe releases the next version of PSE soon.  Of course you’ll need to have a new enough OS, not OSX 10.6.8, Windows XP or Vista.  If you do have 10.6.8 or XP or Vista you're out of luck, until you get a new OS.

  • HT200199 Can't import 1080i60 files from Sony RX100. Anyone know why?

I've shot AVCHD 1080p60 and 1080i60 movies and either do not show up. Even though it's written that 1080i60 files should be recognized. Maybe the support for the RX100 is still be worked on. I know Aperture and Lightroom don't support Sony RX100 RAW yet either.

That camera is so new that you're just going to have to wait for RAW support. Your option, in the meantime, is to use the Camera Raw conversion.

  • I use CS3 & with 7.2 download still can't open Raw files from Sony A99 camera

This is a real setback until compatibility occurs. Anyone have the answer?

    Hi ecoessays1,
Unfortunately CS3 does not support the 7.2 Camera Raw Plug-in. Here is a list of Raw-compatible Adobe Applications. From the list, you can see that Photoshop CS3 only supports Camera Raw 4.0 through 4.6. With that being said, the Raw plug-in Supported Cameras list states that you need atleast Plug-in 7.2.
With that being said, you will need to upgrade your software version to CS6 or Creative Cloud (CC) in order to support Camera Raw on your Sony A99. Photoshop Elements 11 and Lightroom 4.2 and above also supports Camera Raw for your camera model.
    Hope this helps!

  • Lightroom v2 won't read RAW files from Sony A77

Hi there - just got a new Sony A77 but Lightroom v2 won't read RAW files when I try to import them.  I know I need to upgrade my version of LR (I will be going to v4) but... is there ANYTHING else I need to do or to upgrade in order to ensure Lightroom 4 will read those Sony RAW files?  Thanks!

I don't keep track of what cameras are supported in what versions.  But, IF your camera is supported by the latest DNG converter, you could use it to create digital negative copies of your images.  Those DNG files can then be opened in the version that you have now.  You won't get anywhere near the development quality that you will get with Lightroom 4, but at least you can work on your images with what you have now.
And if Lightroom 4 supports your camera, that is the only thing you can do to "ensure" that you can use your files.  Of course, if you modify them now with the version that you have, you can leave them with those adjustments when you upgrade to Lightroom 4, but if you want to use the new adjustments and the improved develop tools you'll probably have to basically start over on any images that you want to convert to the new PV 2012.

  • Cannot open Raw files from RX100M3

I cannot open (convert?) Raw files from my RX100 M3.   I'm trying to use Photoshop CS5 on a Mac.   I've installed Camera Raw 6.7.1 and Adobe DNG Converter 8.5.

Support for the Sony RX100 III was just added into the very latest version of Camera Raw 8.5 which is only compatible with CS6, CC and CC 2014.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
You need to either upgrade Photoshop or use the free DNG converter to convert all RX100 III Raw files to DNGs. Then you can edit the DNGs in CS5.

  • I have photoshop elements 10 with all updates but it will not import raw files from my sony rx100

Can anyone help. I have adobe elements 10 with all updates but it will not import .arw (raw) files from my sony rx100

Sony RX2 is supported in ACR7.2 and higher whereas PSE10 can go as high as ACR6.3
Thus you wont be able to open your raw files directly into ACR. You might want to download DNG convertor(version 7.2 or higher) and use it to convert your raw files to a different raw format (.dng) which is supported by all ACR versions.

  • Does Lightroom support RAW files from the Sony RX-100M2?

I use LR 4.4 with my Sony A-77 and Sony A-100.  I just purchased a Sony RX-100M2.  My current version of LR (LR 4.4) doesn't recognize the RAW files from my new RX-100M2.  Will I have to upgrade to LR version 5?  Will that even help?
    Thanks.

Support appears to be preliminary:  There is no RX100M2 Adobe Profile and the camera is not listed as being supported, so while it is true that you can open the M2 files in LR5, the colors appear slightly off and dimmer than for the RX100(M1).  I suspect Adobe may have given preliminary support by using the RX100(M1) profile for the RX100M2 but hopefully the support improves with the next version of LR5 comes out, hopefully later this week:
Here is a thread discussing the differences and some sample ARW files from both the M1 and M2:

  • Why will Camera Raw 6.7.1 in CS5 not recognize Raw files from a Sony DSC RX100M3?   The Camera Raw site indicates this camera is covered.

I have a new Sony DSC RX100M3 and Camera Raw (6.7.1) in Photoshop CS5 (on a Mac) will not recognize the Raw files from this camera.  What must I do?

    Well, I guess the sentence
The table below lists all cameras that the Camera Plug-in (versions 1.0 through 8.5) supports.
could be interpreted to mean that even version 1 supports all those cameras’ raw formats.
    And even the sentence
This powerful plug-in has been frequently updated to support more cameras and include more features and is available as part of Adobe Photoshop CC.
which should make clear that older versions of Camera Raw usually support fewer cameras does not unambiguously make clear that only the most recent full version of Camera Raw is being updated.
So I kind of understand how you arrived at your assumption.

  • Elements 10 can not read the raw-files from my Sony a-57

The raw-converter is updatet to 6.7 and according to Adobe it should be able to read Sony a-57. When I got Elements 10, a file had to be moved so it could read the raw-files from my Minolta 5D. Can this be the cause of the problem ? What to do ?

What version of ACR does Help / About Plug-ins… / Camera Raw… show you, and is more than one Camera Raw listed in About Plug-ins…?
