[Consolidation-Locked] RAW support for the Nikon D600?

When will Adobe update RAW support for the Nikon D600?
Message title was edited by: Brett N

Lightroom 4.2 and Camera Raw 7.2 (Elements 11) are currently available and provide support for the Nikon D600.
Go to Help > (Check for) Updates to install.

    My Fair Adobe,
Please add RAW support for the Nikon D600 to Lightroom as soon as possible!
ViewNX lets me get to the images, but come on!!! I know Lightroom, and you, ViewNX, are no Lightroom.
Yes, I see everyone else ASKING for D600 support. I'm here to beg for it! Don't make me wait much longer!

Rob, my reading of your site is that this plug-in copies settings from raw to jpeg, does it work the other way around as well?

One of the great things about the new 0-based defaults and linear tone curve is:
You can develop the jpegs now, in Lightroom, and then sync the settings to the raws later (e.g. using RawPlusJpeg), and provided you select a matching camera profile, they will look almost the same (white balance won't translate over, but everything else will, more or less). Beware lens corrections applied to the raws might alter the registration of precision local adjustments.
Note: I recommend shooting with ADL off in order for this to work better, and consider turning sharpening off in camera as well, and noise reduction and everything else to whatever extent is possible.

  • So... how long do we have to wait for a RAW update for the Nikon D600 camera?

So... how long do we have to wait for a RAW update for the Nikon D600 camera?

Adobe releases Camera Raw every 3 or 4 months. The D600 itself was launched only about 1 week ago. I'm sure its not included in ACR 7.2 RC yet. Nikon J1 is included though. I guess you're gona have to wait for it. Maybe 7.2 final release will have it or 7.3 should. Adobe employees/ product team will not commit to a time for Camera Raw releases.
However, you can use the software Nikon would've given you to convert your images as TIFF and import them into Lightroom/ Photoshop if you're in a hurry. It would be nice if your camera supports DNG conversion out of the box! This way, you wont need a Camera Raw from Adobe.
Anyway, you could file a 'Feature Request' to Adobe here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    Good luck.

  • Is there a CS5 camera raw update for the Nikon D600?

is there a CS5 camera raw update for the Nikon D600

Not as yet. ACR 7.2 does have preliminary support for D600. Output may change in final release of D600 support in upcoming ACR 7.3.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2012/10/camera-raw-7-2now-available.html
ACR 7.3 will have complete support for D600.
But, if you're on CS5, I'm sorry to break it you cannot upgrade to ACR 7.x...
You may want to consider upgrading to CS6 or Lightroom 4 (cheaper alternative) to get ACR 7.x support.
Or, use the DNG converter, make TIFFs and open them with PS.

  • HT203088 Any ideas when RAW support for the Nikon D7200 will be available?

    Hi
I have recently bought the Nikon D7200. However Apple have not released their support for the RAW files. I am wondering what the likely timeframe is for support to be released? I do not want to make the switch to Adobe to get support and Nikons software isn't much fun at all so want to avoid that.
In the meantime I am stuck using jpg...
    Any realistic timeframe estimates appreciated...
    James

It used to be pretty quick with Nikons and Canons - some even before the camera was released! But now in the new Photos regime, we can't really say.

  • Does anyone know when Aperture will be able to provide RAW support for the Nikon 1 J3 ?

I have just bought Aperture to support my new camera, a Nikon 1 J3.  I then discovered that this is not one of the Nikon camereas yet supported by Aperture for RAW format pictures.
Does anyone know when this may be addressed in a later version of Aperture?
    Kind regards
    Simon

Thanks very much for your help.  I see from the discussion threads on this that I am not alone!
I will be visiting my local Apple Store today to see if they know when my camera will be fully supported.
I got it through Cutio in Germany and the instructions were in German which I learnt at school - which is great for travel and holidays but not for reading technical manuals!
    Kind regards

  • When will Aperture provide RAW support for the Nikon D4s?

Just got my D4s and can't work with the RAW files in Aperture 3 ... It says 'incompatible file format'...

Wait and see, the currently available raw support is here.
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
    iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
But even, when the raw supoort for your new camera will have been released, it will probably only be available for you, if you upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and at least Aperture 3.4.5. The most recent Digital Camera Raw Support releases have all been released for these versions only:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1734
Give Apple a little time to do a decent job with the raw support. Your new camera is particularly challenging with the high ISO sensor and the excellent low light sensitivity (ISO 409,600). You will want that the raw support can deal with these new features properly. Last year we have seen quite a few threads with complaints about strange blueish or pink colors on raw images taken in low light for new Nikon and Canon cameras.

  • Camera Raw support for new Nikon D810

Hi, could you please advise when we can expect to see camera raw support for the new nikon D810.
    Thanks

Adriana – I installed the download from the link in the 7/27 post and was able to convert my NEF files to DNG format from my new D810 camera, but could not view/edit the NEF-smalls. When I saw your latest post I used your link to go to that download and noticed that in the description it mentioned that the issues with the D810 NEF-small have been resolved.  I deleted/emptied trash of the 7/27 download and re-installed the one mentioned from your link – although they were both identical in file size and version: 8.6 – hmm?  I tried the converter – but nothing new was converted (I presume because all had already been converted before?).  However, CS6 is still not able to open/edit neither the NEF-small file formats, nor the DNG created from it.  I am thinking maybe I am missing a step, because when I select properties for Camera Raw in CS6, the version is 8.5.0.236 – is that ok (my CS6 version is 13.0.6 – and no other updates appear available)? I only downloaded the DNGConverter_8_6.dmg; installed the .pkg – did I forget a step? Thanks for your help!

  • HT4757 RAW support for the SONY RX100?

Anyone know when will Apple be adding RAW support for the SONY RX100?

Unfortunately this is a user forum, so no-one can answer that one for you.  You can use the feedback option in aperture to request it though.  More than likely it wont come until Canon or Nikon release some more DSLRs, which is usually what prompts an update.  For what it's worth you can use the Adobe DNG converter which will convert the sony .arw file into a .dng file that Aperture can read.  It is another step to your workflow but you can do it.

  • When it will be the camera raw update for the nikon d750 in Lightroom 4?

When it will be the camera raw update for the nikon d750 in Lightroom 4?

Never. You'll need to upgrade to Lr 5.7, or convert your D750 files to DNG for Lr 4 to use.
As a site search would amply have indicated.

  • Tether support for the Nikon D750 in lightroom 5

Will there be tether support for the Nikon D750 in Lightroom 5

You are absolutely correct Lightroom does not have tether support for the new Nikon D750. see the list of supported cameras.
    Tethered camera support in Lightroom
Nikon need to provide the required sdk info for the camera to enable Adobe to work on adding tether support.

  • Does Aperture support NEF RAW files for the Nikon D810?

I am unable to open NEF RAW files for my new Nikon D810.  Are there any updates of suggestions.

Apple has not yet reverse-engineered a RAW update for the d810. I would suggest that you shoot RAW +JPEG with all your NEF images on the CF card and put your JPEG optimal fine images on the SD card in slot 2. Save your NEF images and CF cards until the Aperture 3.5.1 RAW update for the d810 finally is available. In the meantime, you will have JPEG optimal images on your SD cards that you can import and process in Aperture. Good Luck.

  • Is there an update for the Nikon D600 for CS5.5 Bridge?

Just wondering if the Nikon D600 has been added to the list of cameras supported by Adobe Bridge in CS5.5?? I can't seem to find anything.

No, and it won't be added to that list either. The first version of ACR that fully supports the D600 is 7.3 and this needs at least PSCS 6 to work.
So you have a few options left.
Bite the bullet and start upgrading to CC (there is a dedicated photographer subscription) so you can use the new ACR 2012 version and have full access with your raw files to all new PS functions.
Or find and download the free Adobe DNG converter. This latest version can convert your D600 NEF to DNG and those DNG files will be able to show and open in CS5.5 as well as used in the ACR version you have.

  • No RAW support for new Nikon P7000

Just received the new, compact, "pro-sumer" Nikon P7000 camera today. It's a beauty. High-end, finessed pictures in those situations where you don't want to lug a DSLR around. It's going head-to-head with the legendary Canon G11/G12.
One major "gotcha'" that I didn't know about until I started using the camera, is that the Nikon P7000 uses a proprietary RAW format. It's predecessor, the p6000, did too. However, while Aperture supports the older p6000 NRW "raw" format, it does NOT currently support the enhanced NRW+ format used by the p7000. f#$% !!!
This is truly annoying!! There is no reason that I can think of for the p7000 not to use the NEF raw format used by most other (Nikon) cameras. Thanks, Nikon!! /sarcasm
So this means that currently, RAW photos from the Nikon P7000 cannot be imported into Aperture. You have to set the camera to create "Fine" JPEG photos; which, granted, are pretty good. However, to get the advantage of RAW photos, you have to use the "ViewNX2" editing software that came with the camera. Blah!
Hopefully, Apple will step up, and the Raw Camera Support for Aperture will soon include the NRW+ format. Or even better yet, hopefully Nikon will see the error of their ways an migrate their Powershot cameras to the "standard" raw format, NEF, in an upcoming firmware release.

Yes, it is a problem. Apple loses lots of market share through slow response time in supporting new cameras. Adobe is usually faster, so a workaround may be to use Adobe's DNG Converter to convert the Nikon P7000 NRW files to DNGs that Aperture can digest.
Thanks for the pointer to the free Adobe DNG Converter. Even though it doesn't yet support the P7000, you're right in that Adobe may beat Apple to the punch. Plus, I just like the idea of the DNG format. The Converter looks like a handy tool to have in the tool chest. I've got my fingers crossed that it's AppleScriptable
The P7000 does look like the pocket camera many of us have been whining to Nikon about for years. I lacks swivel display but the huge size of the LCD makes up for it. I want one!
Despite my whining about RAW support, my initial impression after one day of shooting is that it's as great a camera as it looks on paper. Lots of control over the shot. Good, solid feel. Can get great shots in adverse (eg. low light) conditions. The only major annoyance I've noticed is slow RAW write times (several seconds using Class 6 card). I've heard some grumbling about AutoFocus issues, but I having had any problems with it yet. The swivel monitor isn't a big deal -- for me anyway -- because the 3" display is easy to see at any angle. Plus, I wanted rugged, and would worry about the swivel joint becoming a weak spot. BTW, you'll need some big pockets to call it a "pocket camera"; it dwarfs my Canon S90 (which I consider my pocket camera)
    Thanks again,

  • Why no RAW support for the Fuji FinePix HS10?

This camera is well over a year old.  Why is there no support for the RAW file?

It is definitely not only Fuji. I used a Panasonic Lumix FX-150 before that has been supported by Adobe Camera Raw for quite some time now. I replaced that camera by a Lumix LX5, but I see that the FX-150 is still not supported by Apple Camera Raw and probably never will.
If you want wide range RAW support, use Lightroom. (Not to say that Aperture doesn't have its strengths, e.g. support for geocoding.)
