Consolidation Of Video

I have a large iTunes file on an external drive (I choose "Option" and click on iTunes to choose between folders). I added 3 video files to the external drive in no particular order/place - just on the drive.
To get those video files into iTunes is the proper course to take "Consolidation"? Just want to make sure it's not going to copy to my Mac HD, but keep it on the external.
Seems as long as iTunes is pointing to the external I should be ok, but just want to check with "you" first.
Thanks!

Hi Marcus
The B1BC can only be installed in a "clean" database. If you have ay transactions it will not install. In case of you have already implemented SAP B1 "standalone" you will have to reimplement to work with B1BC add-on.
Please note as stated in the B1BC Installation Guide:
"The SAP Business One Branch Consolidation (B1BC) solution can be deployed only in fresh implementations of SAP Business One.

  • Consolidating my library was the worst thing I ever did

Alright, so I had a ton of different folders in my Music Folder, and I wanted to put all of my artists in to one folder, but then I remembered that I would have to re-associate all of my songs in my iTunes library with the new place all of my songs were, so I just said screw that and consolidated my entire library.
    What a joke this was.
Now when it consolidated my videos, that was my fault (and a huge waste of time), so I can ignore that, but for some reason two songs from 6 or 7 of my artists would be thrown into my music library and wouldn't be in my iTunes folder anymore. This was after I deleted all of my songs from my music folder because they were all in my iTunes folder. So I had to go back and put them back in to their respective iTunes folders.
Then for some reason the library wasn't detecting 6 podcasts I had downloaded earlier in the day, and tried to download them again, so I had to re-add those to the library.
Then the mother of all problems happened to me today. Almost every single song in my 1,900 song library can't be detected by iTunes in my iTunes folder. All of these songs are in the exact same spot from yesterday, when iTunes worked, but for some reason it can't detect almost all of my songs. Now just a month ago my library file was corrupted and I had to re-add all of my songs and used a script so I could have my play counts what I wanted them (I had my play counts synced with last.fm, so I could just look up how many plays I had before my library was corrupted), so I know how annoying it is to have to do all of this over again.
So any solution besides deleting, re-adding all of my songs, and redoing all of my play counts over again (which is about the only problem I have with this) would be appreciated. Thank you.
*Note: If it wasn't clear, yes, some of the songs in my iTunes library are being detected in the iTunes folder, but a majority aren't. Oh, and all of my podcasts and movies are being detected just fine.

  • Editing / changing images in a m4v file in Motion 5 - how do you do that?

My boss has given me a m4v file so I can adapt some of the images used. He used Motion 5 which I now have and chose a pre-set template but the 'layers' seem to go on top the video not change / edit the original file?

    No, for sure:
a  m4v is no Motion-project-file, containing all elements, groups and layers separately.
It's a 'consolidated', solid video, which indeed  allows only to apply 'on top' changes. (or 'cuts')
If you want to edit the 'layers', you need the original project.motn file ..

  • Changing event dates of MOV files

I've found it straightforward changing event dates (so the Event Library will sort chrono), simply by going to Finder and changing the yyyy-mm-dd format for DV files that may not have been captured correctly. However, when I do the same with MOV files, the fix will not work. Any suggestions? Thanks.
BTW, these files were captured via a Canopus ADVC110. Years ago, I consolidated my video library (various old formats) on DVDs via a Panasonic DVD-R player. Now I've captured all of this video, via the Canopus converter, and am ready to edit in iMovie. When I captured the video recently, I simply created new folders, labeling each by year, so the sub-folders are easy to recognize. They all show up under "2007" I can live with this, but if there is a fix it would be nice.

On Karsten Schluter's website, she lists at least four ways to change dates. Here is a link... http://karsten.schluter.googlepages.com/im08changeeventdate
IIRC, the .mov files are really a package of files and you will need to change the dates of the files in the package. Alternatively, you could import the .mov files into iMovie 06, and export as a Quicktime .dv file, at which point, it becomes easy to change the dates.

  • Consolidating audio and video

I created a movie using separate audio and video from three separate disk drives.  I would like to consolidate all media used on one of the drives.  Will the consolidate media do this or does it just consolidate video?  Can I leave my original media where it was originally or will it be move with the consolidation?

You choose Comsolidate Media for a Project. When you do, it will Move (or copy) the events used in the Project to the same drive as the project. It will also copy any audio tracks from iTunes or photos referenced in the project to the same drive as the project. This is a good command to use when you want to edit a project on a different computer, because it puts everything you need in one place.

  • Photo and video consolidation / management

I have photo and video files in multiple locations and applications (desktop, Documents, iPhoto, external hard drive). I'm looking for a program or app that will search, find, and consolidate all my media files (hopefully getting rid of duplicates along the way). Any suggestions?  Plex has been suggested but I don't know much about it.

Photo Shack Pro is one that does work right out of your iPad's Photos Library.  It allows you to organize your photos into albums within libraries without duplicating any photos or creating a separate photo storage.  You can sort, search, title, comment, view detailed photo metadata, rotate photos, and zoom into full resolution up to 16 Mp.  Works with both photos and videos in your iPad's Photos Library, including those you've taken with the built-in cameras, or synced with the Camera Connection Kit.  It does all this without actually changing anything in your iPad's Photos Library.  It just provides a photo management interface into that library.

  • White Macbook (Early 2009) Why mini-DVI to S-video adapter no longer works?

I am a lifelong Mac user and by now think I pretty well know the ins and outs of Macs and most Mac-related issues... but this one has stumped me.
The new white Macbook was upgraded to include many of the components of its big brother unibody Aluminum Macbooks (including 1066 MHz frontside bus and the NVIDIA 9400M) just over a week ago. I was lucky enough to be in the market for a new laptop about this time and snatched one up a few days ago (retiring my awesome 12" Aluminum PowerBook G4 which is still kicking).
One of the main reasons I upgraded was to be able to use Silverlight 2.0 (d--- Microsoft) as I can't watch streaming lectures from school without it. A nice bonus would be the ability to stream Netflix videos to my TV through my laptop which I've wanted to do for a while. Anyone who has bought one of these new Macbooks and uses their laptop with their TV as much as I do has probably read one of these two links:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3413
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A?mco=MzE2OTkzMA
Note the asterisk at the Apple store: "* This adapter is not compatible with the 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo white MacBook introduced in January 2009."
Can someone tell me why this is? I've been using the s-video out of my Apple laptops for the past 6 years... why change it now? Is this a temporary problem or permanent change?
I have been fervently searching for a work-around but no blogs, forums, or boards have given me any answers. One tech blogger at http://createdigitalmotion.com/2009/01/22/white-macbook-snubs-adapter-i-want-my- tv-out/ speculates that Apple is cracking down on DRM video being watched on TV's... but that makes no sense, any new TV can use the DVI output still supported by this computer.
Dear Apple: PLEASE give me my TV back!!! I want to watch Netflix and use that cool Front Row feature you put in your system!

Thank you for your helpful and detailed response, Ziatron. I am aware Apple is unlikely to peruse my forum post, I was just crying out in anguish at the gods that be, so to speak.
Everything you wrote is consistent with what I have read in other places, thanks for consolidating it here. I am not as proficient in display technologies as I am in other areas so let me see If I am understanding you correctly. Apple has licensed HDCP technology and is employing it across its desktop and laptop lineups. The new white MacBook was the last of the MacBook lineup to be upgraded to include this new technology and as it still retains the older Mini-DVI out rather than the new Mini-Displayport Apple had to "flip the switch" and turn off the MacBook's ability to put out video through the old adapter. I notice that there is no Mini-Displayport to video adapter available in their store. Am I good so far?
So I am left to assume that they turned off the capability of outputing to s-video because that output cannot be managed by the new HDCP technology, correct? If so, I suppose I understand but am still frustrated as it seems they are prevent the growth of a few weeds (illegal content) by burning the whole lawn (preventing many such as me from using the output I love). Thanks for your help again.

  • I imported some 24P HD videos from my DSLR to Aperture but these videos do not show up in iMovie '09 for editing purposes. Although my previous 24P HD Videos from iPhoto '09 show up. Why can't I access these videos stored in Aperture library?

I imported some 24P HD videos from my DSLR to Aperture but these videos do not show up in iMovie '09 for editing purposes. Although my previous 24P HD Videos from iPhoto '09 show up. Why can't I access these videos stored in Aperture library? I assumed that like  the videos in iPhoto, I would be able to access the videos in Aperture through iMovie. Come on Apple! I am starting to get frustrated with your products here. And this is saying a lot when I have been using and loving apple products for the last 4 years.

Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.
    APPLE. What are you doing?

  • How can I get iMovie '09 to recognize videos in my iPhoto Library (on an external HD)?

Because of the amount of material I have, I use iPhoto Library Manager to manage three iPhoto libraries - one on my mac and two on separate external hard drives.
I can import videos/pictures directly from my camera to any of the libraries, but when I open iMovie, it only displays iphoto videos on my macbook hard drive, and often not even all of them!  I've tried right clicking on the different hard drives and selecting "import movies" but my iPhoto libraries are always greyed out and not selectable.
All I want is to be able to edit (in iMovie) the video clips I've already uploaded to my iPhoto libraries!  I want them consolidated on one external HD so that when I plug it in iMovie sees them and lets me play or edit the clips stored.

Try forcing iPhoto to load the Library on the External Hard drive by launching it while holding down the Option key. Choose the Library on the External HD, and quit iPhoto, see if iMovie can see the Library with the iPhoto Videos contained inside.

  • Quicktime NO Longer Gets Streamed H264 Video . Why

for teh past year and ahalf i have streamed live content to our helix server, and have been able to watch it with quicktime on other pc's however in teh past month and few updates, quicktime has broken this. no video is diesplayed at all. if we change our live capture to use regular mpeg-4 we can see the video. but onc ewe try to go back to h264, we no longer see any video. vlc works great, so why is it that h264 streaming from our helix server no longer works with quicktime? also why is there such a huge memory leak when you watch live mpeg4 files streamed from a helix server or quicktime server? its huge like 50k a second. in mpeg-4, h263, and h264??

even if that drive is not hopelessly fragmented (and chances are that it is) it is still a little too full (more than 80%) and certainly will not be performing at its best
are these 3 drives dedicated to your media or do they contain all sorts of stuff?
for best performance, consider keeping your main media drive (the 500GB Lacie) dedicated to your capture scratch only, and wipe it clean at the start of each project
you can use the other drives for your longer term media / library footage / archive documents
in the meantime consider changing your capture scratch to the G-DRIVE and see if you fair better with that one and/or dig in to your existing stuff and start freeing up space, consolidating uneeded footage on other drives etc
    best

  • Why do videos show up in photos and why can't i export them from iPhoto for iOS

Somehow, I just don't get it:
If I take a picture on my iPhone 5s, it is saved to 'Pictues' ... sound reasonable.
If I take a video on the same device, it is saved to 'Pictures' ... that's where it gets messy.
If I receive a video on an app like e.g. WhatsApp ... it also get's stored in ... guess what ... 'Pictures'!
Now that's a little bit confusing.
Generally I would like to keep these different types of media (still pictures vs. moving images) in separate spaces, but it seems like that is not possible out of the box, because if go ahead and tab on that share-button in iOS 7 i get prompted to share the videos to various installed apps like e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter - you name it.
It seems like there is no way to export videos from 'Pictures' to 'Videos', even if you use iPhoto for iOS in the gap.
The only ways (that I found) to get what I want are way to circumstantial:
Either use iPhoto for the Mac to import videos from the iCloud Photostream to the Mac and from there via "Show in Finder" re-import to iTunes' 'Videos'
or use iExplorer (a third party application for the Mac) and export the videos from the iPhone to a temp-folder and from there re-import with iTunes to 'Videos'.
Why isn't there just a simple share-sheet or export label called 'Export to Videos'.
    Why doesn't it just work?
Am I missing out on something?
Is there an easier way to complete this relatively simple task?
Hints and support are very much appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Chris

  • Audio drops out when following video to external monitor

When I play a sequence to an external monitor, the audio drops out for 2 to 3 seconds after changes on the video track, and then pops back in with no interuption in video output. It doesn't happen at every cut, but it's consistent in the places it does. I thought it might be caused by the size the project has become. So I exported the sequence as a quicktime file, closed the lage project, opened a new one and exported the new file and played it and it happened again, even though there were no edits. It doesn't occur at all when I turn off external video, and play it on the computer. I connected a new firewire from the computer to my DV deck, restarted the computer, but it keeps happening.
Is it that the dramatic change in color, light and compostion crowding out the audios ability to follow the video through the wire?
I'm completely stumped. The next step will be to open the computer and try to blow any excess dust out. I do this periodically anyway, and my last time was two months ago, so I'd be surprised if it works.
Maybe the G4 with 2G processing power can no longer handle the program, but it shows no sign of stuggle in any other way.
My clients are starting to grow restless.

Thank you so much X & Paul, for your suggestions. Although they didn't solve the problem, they kept me hopeful enough to continue my quest for an answer. After exhausting all effort to find the problem in the audio, I decided to focus on the video. So, I tried correcting the excess luma on the consolidated QT movie, and suddenly the problem was fixed. Because of the different levels of correction I'd need for each and every cut in the original sequence, and the precious time it would take, I'd planned to save it for the color correction stage, a mere 2 weeks away. I remembered how illegal white would often cause the image on some monitors, specifically consumer TVs, to waver for a second. But this was happening all the way back to the DV deck's audio meter, so I never expected it to be a luma issue.
I assume that the outdating capacity of my G4 played a part, but I wanted to write back with my thanks, and to impart my illuminated wisdom to the next perplexed soul.
    Thanks again,

  • HDV Print to Video not showing metadata

I'm running Final Cut Studio 2 and a Canon HV20 camcorder. I'm trying to consolidate footage from one tape to a new tape using "Print to Video" but the metadata such as date and time doesn't transfer. It works perfectly when I tested with DV format (consolidating 1 DV to another) but HDV only transfers video and audio with no metadata, and I'm guessing timecode too but I'm not sure. The original tape shows metadata.
I'ved tried with different settings. Captured using HDV Firewire, HDV Firewire Basic, HDV Firewire Basic NDF, AIC and print to video using HDV (1440 x 1080) 60i. They all record to tape fine but no metadata. I've even tried capturing and export to tape using iMovie with the same results (only video and audio with no metadata/timecode). What am I doing wrong?

Nope, I'm not talking about photo EXIF metadata, I'm talking about actual video. If I play DV or HDV tapes on my camcorder the date and time of the recording displays in the lower right hand corner of the LCD screen and the time even changes based upon when it was recorded. I've owned 3 DV camcorders and used friend's and they all do this.
When recording DV or HDV the date and time is registered somewhere. Even the new iMovie '08 will name the clips you import by date and time shot for DV or HDV (ex. clip-2003-02-09 13;57;34.dv).
Again, I can import any DV tape (video) now, export it to another tape, play it and the date and time of when it was recorded is retained, even if I rearrange it's order in iMovie or FCP. This is something I've done for years. I just can't accomplish it with HDV. I'm sure it can be done I just need to see what I'm doing wrong in the chain.
Please don't let my use of the word metadata confuse you that I think it's photo EXIF metadata. I used the word metadata because it just means "a set of data that describes and gives information about other data."
    Thanks.

  • Video playlists won't play automatically?

I have kid's videos that are less than 4 minutes apiece, so that I have to automatically click every time it goes to the next video. Without consolidating all the videos into one file, how can I make a video playlist that will go to the next video automatically? I have a video playlist, but it still stops after every video is done and I still have to manually click through to the next one.

  • Adobe flash video problem

For the last couple of weeks i have run into a problem with both U-Tube videaos and yahoo vodeos.
In the middle of the videao a pop-up comes  on from either of two entities  s.ytimg   and d.yimg.
There is a lot of dialogue about this (per google search) but I still don't know if it a virus/malware, or an intrusive adverising site.
Adobe has very vague info on this (they disclaim having anything to do with it) but to me it is unreasonable for U-tube (google) or yahoo to actuallyendorse this .
I never click allow, but the thing is insistant and does not go away.
    Any help?

Thanks for the added information, but that doesn't alter the fact that Firefox is seriously crippled -- that is to say, useless -- as a medium for web video.
I don't know whether the assertion that Flash 11.3 is "buggy" and it is Adobe's fault is more true, than to say that Firefox 20+ is "buggy" with regard to Flash 11.3.
It seems both developer teams are pointing in the other direction to claim "It's their fault, not ours" and using that as an excuse not to fix the problem.
Since it is unlikely that the complaints of Firefox users is going to move Adobe to "fix" Flash, it seems to me much clearer that it is the obligation of Mozilla to fix Firefox so that it works with Flash.
Again, this problem has gone on for sufficient years, anyone would conclude that Mozilla should have fixed it by now.
What is even more annoying, is the way that Mozilla representatives who should know better, send people who report this problem and quite reasonably ask for a solution, off on 15 dozen different kinds of fools' errands for "solutions" that don't address the problem that anyone with any experience realizes is a basic conflict between Flash 11 and any FF version much beyond 18 or so.
There needs to be a consolidation of all the many different threads addressing this problem with a top-level advisory that all the proffered sub-fixes (blaming this or that setting or plug-in) is really NOT going to solve the fundamental Flash-Firefox video incompatibility.
We FF users are left with the unacceptable choice of abandoning access to Flash videos if we want to continue using FF for all its other capabilities and special features -- or we have to constantly be uninstalling Flash 11, installing Flash 10, watch our videos, then uninstall Flash 10 and reinstall Flash 11 to do anything else.
    This is ridiculous.
When is Mozilla going to acknowledge and fix this problem?
