Constant 3G Drop Every 2 Minutes!

Hi there,
I've had many problems with the network and was looking to see if everyone had the same issue or it was just me. I've updated my OS to 3.1.3 but what happens is, is that 3G constantly seems to turn off every 2 minutes or when I am sending a lot of traffic (using the web or sending messages). This is really starting to frustrate me and none of us should be forced to switch to EDGE.

mAN?
with that type of config. you have? you should not have any problems.
especially with the intervideo program 'cause it captures in mpg and it is a very loose coding (better said no coding at all)
try turning the ht off through bios
or try this prog.

also did you have xp sp2 allways?
maybe sp2 is causing problems
also
did you try recording on both (4) of your hdd's?

  • Signal dropped every minute

    Hi,
I set up my Airport Extreme. However, my Vista laptop keeps dropping the wifi signal every minute or so and then reconnects to it. Any ideas?
It only seems to be my laptop that does this. My other laptop running XP and my mac does just fine.
    Thanks,
    -Chris

    BY GOD THIS WORKS!

Holy - this thang has been driving me crazy. Like I would look at my watch and every sixty seconds there would be a cut out - precisely at the 60 second mark. But this little software download does the trick. Nothing but pure music - the way the artist INTENDED!
    Thank you so much.
That said, the fact that someone has to write a fix for Vista - or for Apple for that matter - is discusting. I am sure they weren't paid for it!
But in any case - thank you - whoever built this little lagger thang. And happy listening to all those who get this to work also!

  • IPhone service dropping every minute

So I've been having this problem since last night. Every minute, my service will completely drop out and show "No Service" and then an instant later it will start searching, and then reconnect. I opened up my diagnostics and usage data log, and looked through the massive list of errors from today alone and each one says the same thing
    deviceId: (i'll withhold this info)
    isAnonymous: true
    deviceConfigId: 101
    triggerTime: 1325278144287

    investigationId: 0
    metricCCAirplaneMode {
    airplaneModeEnable: false
    timestamp: 1325278144286
Now, I looked at prior error reports and there were similar ones, but right when this started happening, I saw the "metricCCAirplaneMode" section of that code come up, so could my phone be continuously trying to turn airplane mode on and off? And if so, how do I stop it? Would restoring from a backup fix?

According to your information you have iOS 5.0.1, most likely build 9A405, running on your iPhone 4. Apple recently updated the build of iOS 5.0.1 to help with this issue. Restoring your iPhone using the most recent build of 5.0.1 (Build 9A406) should fix the problem.

  • I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger is not supported with device screen every minute or two. I powered it off for the night. I havent experienced problems since. Why does it still work?

I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger not supported sign every minute or two. I decided to turn it off for the night and the next morning it worked fine and only the bottom sensor was triggered. Why does it still work and how long will it last?

Water in itself will not kill electronic components if you let it dry out.  Your first reaction to turn it off was a good one but you could have waited even longer.
It also depends what's on your water that will stay after the water itself had dried; like salt. Anything that iseither acid or conductor left on the circuit board will reduce the life of the board.  Given said this, no one could state how long your iPhone will work since no one will know for sure where the water had time to infiltrate before you removed your device and no one what's may left there.
Consider yourself lucky.  I don't understand however what you mean by a sensor triggered.

    Paul,
We were on version 6.1.0.483 (Windows Masters), with 3.1.0.05 agents which kept restarting every 11 mins....  turns out for us it was a bad license on the master.  Once we received and installed the new license, the problem was resolved.
Hope this is the answer to your problem.
    Best regards,
    Fred Gannon

  • Time capsule keeps dropping ethernet connection to BT Voyager every minute

I have just bought a 1TB TC to get the benefit of better wireless and the backup facility all in one. Previously I used a BT Voyager 2110 as ADSL modem and wireless router. I have set up the TC to connect from the WAN port to the LAN port on the BT router, put TC in bridge mode, and disabled wireless on the BT voyager. This means the BT Voyager does all the DCHP config and PPPoA, transmits this to the TC via ethernet and then TC broadcasts this on wireless. So far so good.
The TC works with this ok, but for whatever reason keeps losing the ethernet connection every minute or so. Literally almost flickering from amber light ('ethernet cable unplugged' for about 1-2 seconds) then back to green light sometimes several times a minute. This means I get no continuous or stable connection, e.g. for downloading/gaming online. The same happens if the BT router is in bridge mode and the TC configures the PPPoA itself - it has to 'renegotiate' every minute or so, which is very frustrating.
The ethernet cable is fine (I have tried two different cables), and each works with no problem if iMac is connected to TC (no internet though obviously), or if iMac is connected via LAN to the router for direct internet access - the network settings in system preferences shows no similar frequent loss of connection. The problem only seems to arise as between BT router and TC via ethernet. I have done resets of both the TC and the router, both are on the latest firmware updates as well so I am now at a loss. If anyone can help it would be really appreciated! Thanks.

Hi there, thanks for your quick reply.
Well I'm not actually trying to get the TC to do that function, merely to wirelessly broadcast what has been negotiated by the BT Router. I.e. the router is not a bridge letting the TC do the work, but rather the router has all the settings and then this is just fed down the ethernet, just like it would be to a computer.
Connection settings have always been 'connect using' ethernet, and 'connection sharing' is off (bridge mode).
The thing is that this config clearly does work as I can get internet access, but I can't work out why the ethernet connection is dropped so frequently (and at all) which means I have no stable connection.
I have tried changing the router to PPPoE, which still gives me internet access but does not resolve the problem of the ethernet connection being dropped.

  • Audio drops out for a ½ second about every minute

    Hi There,
I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem. I have a 3 G with 3.0. When listening to Bluetooth audio through the SYNC system of my Ford Focus, the audio drops out for a ½ second about every minute. It does this persistently.
    Any fixes?

My 3GS seems to have an occasional dropout using A2DP with my Kenwood head unit, but I don't think it ever happened with my 3G (both running OS 3.0). It seems like some kind of a latency issue between the iphone and the head unit.

  • I skype every night with a person nearby, and the call mac-to-mac is dropped every night at exactly the same hour, to the minute.

I have an even weirder problem. I skype every night with a person nearby, and the call mac-to-mac is dropped every night at exactly the same hour, to the minute. I have to close skype and restart it and call again and then it works without problems.
I have my imac connected to hi-speed cable.
    Any ideas anyone? Thanks!

You should post in Skype forums.

  • Wireless mesh backhaul drop every 2 -3 minutes

I have 4 1242 A/G (A is the backhaul and G is for clients, NO WLC) in a mesh with 1 as tha RAP and 3 and the MAP.  All aps have the same antenna 2.4 has patch 7.5dbi and the 5.0 has a 6dbi omni.  The syslog shows that the backhaul is dropping every 1-2 mintues because of maxreties.  The distance between the RAP and MAP is about 300ft, and the AP are about 12-15ft off the ground in a indoor parking garage for 100-40ft mass transit bus.(40 passangerbuses).  What could be causing the backhaul to drop?
    Thanks

Was this working before and just now stopped working ?

  • [FIXED] Constant corrected memory exceptions every minute

    DUST.
Running my K8T Master2-Far for over 2 years, i started getting hundreds of corrected memory exceptions, which appeared in batches every minute on the dot. Also, BSOD for IRQ_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS_THAN. I was quite confident that this was not being caused by bad or faulty RAM. I have encountered a similar situation once before where a system totally refused to POST.
The problem was dust buildup, in both cases. This time, upon removing DIMM 1, i could clearly see thick dust on the contacts facing the cpu. This caused the POST failure in the previous case. Now, there was also a lot of dust buildup around around DIMM slot 1. So i cleaned it with a paint brush, then thoroughly cleaned it with Dust Off. I made sure to get out as much dust as possible from in and around the slots. PLUS i paid particular attention to getting the dust out from UNDERNEATH slot 1.
After i did this motherboard clean i no longer have coz corrected memory exceptions. I also changed the case to an air filtered one to prevent this from happening again.
    Hope this helps!

    PS-
@Bas: Thanks for the move. Wasn't sure whether it should go in this section or a general section, because it's sort of a universal dust issue.

  • Constant wifi drop & disconnect

My one month old iMac does not maintain an interent connection for very long. Sometimes it stays connected for <maybe> an hour, but  MORE often it drops either the wifi signal all together or just stops connecting to the internet... when it does seem to have a connection it is VERY slow.
My solution: turn off Wifi wait a few seconds and turn it back on... which is very annoying, but that fixes it.
I have the latest software across the board. I'm running wifi on Time machine. My signal is strong. I have a Powerbook and iPad that connects to it without issues (for a couple of years its been fine until this iMac problem).
    Any suggestions?

There are actually many threads on this subject around here, like this one:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3190651?start=0&tstart=0
There are also many articles on Lion wifi drops. Here are my two cents:
I have a 4 month old iMac running Lion and for the first three months it worked beautifully, but I started having problems with my internet provider and they sent over a technician who changed my modem/router to a new one and configured a new network. He never even touched my iMac, it was all done on one of the PCs in my house, and immediately after that my iMac started dropping the connection all the time. All the other computers in the house (pc and Snow Leopard mac) are working fine.
I have read a thousand threads on this subject and apparently it is a known issue with Lion. There are many suggestions for solutions and I've tried every single one of them, including removing the network in the system preferences panel and then adding it back; or adding DNS servers to the DNS list; or changing the channel on your network (it should be lower than 11). If you search for threads here you'll find many of these supposed solutions, so I'm going to cut to the chase. The only one that worked for me is this:
Open Terminal (type Terminal into Spotlight)
Paste the following line exactly as is into the Terminal window:
      ping `route get default | awk '(/gateway/){print $2}'`
    Press enter
DON'T close the Terminal window. Just press cmd+H to hide it and leave it running in the background.
It is NOT a permanent solution and you have to do it every time you restart your computer, and you have to keep Terminal running on the background. It is a huge pain, but I find that connection drops every 10 minutes is an even bigger pain. Basically what this command does is send signals to the modem every couple of seconds so that the connection doesn't drop from being inactive. It won't affect anything else on your computer and it's not very system-consuming.
This seems to be the only way to have a steady connection for now, until Apple addresses the situation. They just issued an update regarding this issue last week or so, so I suggest you try to keep your system as updated as possible. This update only worked for me till my next startup, though.
However, like I said the problem only started after the technician changed my modem/router and network, so I suspect this is not a Lion problem, but a network problem. The only different thing I can think of that was done with the new network is that I used to have a WEP password and now I have a WPA2 Personal password. I intend to delete this new network and create a new one from scratch, but I haven't had the time yet. I suspect though that there could be some incompatibility with the actual machine (the modem/router), and not the network. I have not found any info on this and have not yet been able to figure out.
I hope this helps, if I find out something more I'll post about it, but in the meantime check out the other threads and google some articles, there are many different answers and opinions on this.

  • FRUSTRATING!! 4 month 27" iMac. WIFI drops every few mins.

I have a 4 month 27" Intel iMac. The WiFi connection drop every few minutes.
I called up phone support and they told me to move the router away from magnetic fields so now I have 'stuck' it to the ceiling of my apartment away from the Cordless Phone, TV etc....
    Power Cycled the Modem
    Updated the Mac Software
Called up the cable company to check for Firmware updates
Updated firmware on the wifi router
I then too the iMac physically to GENIUS - they kept it for a day and ran checks but did not find any issue with the system
Renewed the DHCP Lease as advised by someone on this forum
    All possible approaches
Point is - this does not solve my problem. I have to click disconnect and re-connect WiFi every few minutes. It 'drops' while drafting a mail and then you have to reconnect to SEND the mail OR when streaming a movie 'LOADING' every few minutes and you have to re-connect.
What is the point of a high end computer when it cannot hold on to a wifi which my $500 Dell holds seamlessly and so does my iPhone and Wii.
    Anyone have a concrete solution?

    Hi
I may have a fix for you.  It requires you to change your WiFI security from WPA/WPA2 to the (lower) security but effectively still pretty secure WEP.  You can use the 128bit security.  Some routers seem to have a problem with the passwords of WPA - I don't know the technical stuff but its happened to me not just on a mac network but on a Windows XP network aswell.  I offer this to you because it worked for me, and is still working.
The thing to do is to log onto your router and change its security from WPA to WEP.  To do this open your browser of choice and type in the ip address of your router.  eg. 192.168.1.2  The side of your router should have this address displayed.  If you have changed your router's ip address for some reason you need to use that address, obviously.
Navigate to your security page on your router.  You may have to type in an Administrator password for the router.  (this prevents anyone with a bit of knowledge randomly, or maliciously changing your settings and locking you out).
Select WEP security, and select 128bit if you have the option.  This will give you a passkey of 26" bits" long.
Type in your new security password.  Write it down EXACTLY as you type it.  Remember, for WEP you can only use Hexadecimal - so numbers 0 to 9 and letters a to f in any combination.  JUST make a note of it exactly, as if you don't, getting back on your router via wifi will be impossible.
Next on your iMac, or whatever, delete your wifi network connections.  You could also delete your wifi connection in Network Preferences,  and start again.  To make things absoutley sure you can edit your keychain and delete the keychainentry for your old WPA wifi network name aswell.
Now, in Network Preferences under Network Name type the SSID of your wifi network exactly as it is on the router.  The iMac will find the network and offer you a box to enter your WEP password.  Type it in exactly as you remebered/wrote it down.  You should now be connected to your Network using WEP security.
You shouldn't have any more problems with dropping wifi connections after sleeping your iMac and in most real world situations you will still be spretty secure.
I offer this fix "as is" - if you don't feel competent to make the changes then don't - just ask someone who does know!
    David
