Constant clicks with Soundtrack Pro 2,02?

Hello:
I'm using STP 2.02 with my G5 PPC. I recorded some audio in Digital Performer
and want to load the audio files (broadcast .wav) into STP to remove the noise. When I load the files into STP and play them back I'm getting a lot of clicks. I've checked the clock settings in both STP and my audio interface. they are both set to internal clock with a sample rate of 44.1. Is there any other setting that I'm overlooking that would cause this clicking.I'm also playing the samples back on an eSATA drive and there is no clicking at all when I play the files in
Audacity and Peak.
Thanks,
Tom

Not sure, since I'm not familiar with the unit. Does it have separate driver software? If so, check that for the source clock. Are there any digital devices (ADAT, S/PDIF) connected? Some devices will automatically look for any clock on digital inputs and slave to that.
What happens when you change your default outputs to built-in and try the file on STP? Do you still get the clicks? Not suggesting that it's a solution, but a way of narrowing down the problem.

  • TS2510 problem with soundtrack pro v2.0.2 under snow leopard

Hi, I've just upgraded my mac book to snow leopard and now when I try to record something with soundtrack pro v2.0.2 through the line input jack, the internal microphone is still switched on and none of the preferences allow me to switch to the input jack,ks
Does anyone know whether STP v2.0.2 will run ok under snow leopard? If I need to upgrade the drivers, does anyone know where I can find these and how to instal them.
    Many thanks.

    There are no "drivers".
Use Audio MIDI Setup to set your audio input.
    Good luck.

  • Voice Over with Soundtrack Pro

I have spent about 8 hours on this and can't figure out how to voice over with Soundtrack Pro. I could do it with Soundtrack but something is different with this new version. I have not used StP that much, so I am relying on you pros out there to get me started in the right direction! Thanks everyone for your help.
I did search for related topics but found nothing that was along the lines of what I needed.

Well, I finally found that if I switch to standard layout then the "transport controls" appear. For some reason they are not in the other layout that has separate mixer and video windows. Now I am recording and everything is fine.

  • Using Mbox 2 with Soundtrack Pro

Hi all. I was wondering if I can use an Mbox 2 to record audio with Soundtrack Pro, or do I have to use ProTools?

You should be able to use a digidesign interface with STP by utilizing the digi CoreAudio driver.

  • Help with soundtrack pro..breaking tracks up

whenever capture my video, I always capture the entire tape at a time (or I cut it up 10 min each) and from that I break it down smaller
now suppose I have a 1 min clip that I cut from the 10 min captured footage...when I send that clip to soundtrack pro in order to fix the audio, it opens up the ENTIRE captured video (10 min), therefore I end up working with a bigger file, and taking up more space that I want it to whenever I save it with the filters on..
do you know how I can prevent soundtrack from opening the original captured track, and just allow me to just handle the 1 minute that I only want fixed up?
    thanks!

Right-click on clip to create and send a soundtrack pro audio project (stap)and click on the 'send only referenced media' box to send only the portion you are working on

  • Syncing Sound with Soundtrack Pro

    Hi guys,
Having a bit of a nightmare with some audio in Final Cut Pro and Soundtrack Pro.
We've recored audio on a Sony FS-100 at (25fps, 48kHz) and synced it with audio from a Zoom H4n (48kHz). The FS-100 has been imported with Log and Transfer and the Zoom audio is being dragged in straight from the original .wav files.
Problem is, that once a clip gets past around 3 minutes the audio gradually becomes out of sync. I have managed to rectify the situation by changing the speed of the audio to 99.88% however the editor has already edited half the project without doing this (it's a 40 minute film). So I was wondering if there was a workaround?
Also when editing the audio in Soundtrack Pro and exporting as a .wav to put back into FCP, the file gradually creeps out of sync also.
Any ideas how to solve this?
    Thanks very much,
    Pumpkin

You need to create a new easy setup.  go to audio video settings and choose all the appropriate settings.  If you can't find exactly what you want, go in to each individual tab and duplicate and customize a preset and make sure it's checked.  Then return to the first tab and "create easy setup."
After working in FCP since version 1, I recently discovered that creating and using the correct easy setup can solve a number of mysterious problems.

  • Constant crashing with Logic Pro and Vienna Inst

I saw somewhere on the forum (but can't find it) a string regarding constant crashing of Logic Pro using Vienna Instruments (Special Edition). I'm experiencing 2-5 minutes of work time and then a crash - quite regularly. I also saw people point to Mac OS 10.4.9, which I also have - has this been identified as the culprit and have any fixes been offered?
    Help!

Actually it's more like 1-2 minutes - sure seems coincidental to having downloaded 10.4.9 - anybody got any suggestions out there? This is killing me.

  • Touch click with Macbook Pro

Used to be, about two hours ago, when I was still in OS 10.5.x, that a light tap on the trackpad allowed me to activate a window or a command. Now that I've downgraded to 10.6.1 (fool!), some of the time I have to make a physical hard click on the trackpad to activate what used to be a pleasurable light tap. Anyone else?

Oh, never mind. It seems that sometimes one requires a tap and sometimes one requires a heavier click on the trackpad. For instance, in using the OS install disk, it requires the double click on the trackpad. I don't get it and I don't really think its much of an issue, so I'm marking this solved, even though it isn't

  • With Soundtrack Pro how, please, can I audio from a phone call sound better?

How can I make audio recorded over a telephone sound better... removed hum and clips but it still sounds, well awful. Is there anyway to make it sound, you know, better?

I definitely do not have an unsubscribe button - I've repeatedly tried different variations of Delete, Shift-Delete, Option-Delete, Control-Delete and Command-Delete, have also tried highlighting the individual podcasts and the "parent" podcast.
I must be doing something wrong, but for the life of me I can't see what. It should be a simple procedure.

  • Jittery Playback with Soundtrack Pro

    Hi
I am working on a mix for my short film and just recently experienced jittery playback on the timeline which I am finding difficult to ignore. Can anyone shed some light on this? this FCS 5.1 (not FCS 2).
    I really appreciate it!!

Sometimes doing a simple reboot will fix this. Like video, it helps to have the audio files on a different drive than the system drive. If the files are on an external drive, try moving them to an internal one. Also, if you're using an external drive, try not to have another external drive mounted.
    Good luck.

  • Clicks & Pops in Soundtrack Pro 2

I am working with Soundtrack Pro 2. I have run the Analysis feature for my clips and have selected the Click and Pop option; however the big ones are still there. The program will identify them (turns orange) but it doesn't get rid of them.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a manual way to force to program to get rid of these?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I have started using Soundtrack Pro 2 recently, so my experience is limited. But I have done quite a lot of "audio restoration" on other applications for a long time, mainly on BIAS PEAK and SPARK XL. The latter is out-of-production since 2003 (?), but I have it installed on my Pismo with OS X Panther. Anyway, SPARK XL has an excellent de-clicker, and in BIAS PEAK I have used the X-Click plug-in of the Waves Restoration Bundle. These automatic de-click/pop functions work in a similar way to the "clicks and pops" function in STP 2. Maybe the Waves X-Click plug-in is one of the best software tools to deal with these audio problems, but Waves plug-ins are very expensive, they ought to be good. iZotope RX also gets good reviews. To get to the point - the automatic de-click/pop functions can work very well with some types of "noise", others you may have to remove manually (copy/swap sound from the other channel if the click is only on one side in stereo, turn down the gain directly on the click, copy audio next to the click and insert/replace if the sound is continues, e.g). You can find many guides to "audio restoration" on the net. This one is from 2003, but not outdated: http://emusician.com/dsp/emusicnoisebusters/

  • What's wrong with Logic and Soundtrack Pro

Just spent a frustrating day trying to record with Soundtrack Pro and Logic
Soundtrack is working on and off
    Problems:
    1. Even if sounds are loaded in the multitrack editor, no sound when playing. Only the Solo (S) button make a track sound. No idea what's wrong?
    2. Trying to record directly into a multitrack sometimes works, and sometimes not.
    3. When making another attempt to record, the noise of death appeared (same as the long thread on Logic.
Finally I just recorded in Amadeus Pro. At least that software works. It just crazy. Look I accept there is a learning curve but this s just crazy

    Sorry for the rant

That said, Logic is the most used software in project studios. Mixing engineers like ProTools better. But the two have way more market share than anything else.
    Hey Ben,
Sorry to bump your fanboy applecart... (don't mean that as derogatory as it may sound, I liked the play on words)
From everything that's happening here and the west coast (USA) many of the Logic users I know have switched to other software, the two Logic studios here have gone to ProTools mainly because Logic version 8 was so unstable, there are no more Logic studios here. The studio with the most business uses a Radar system, the second busiest studio is running Sonar. There is a fellow with a mobile system using a MBP and Logic but he uses version 7.
The University here took bids 3 years ago and opted for PC/Nuendo/RME setups.
So yes, Logic may indeed have the most project studio percentage but since every jerk can download it for free what is the quality coming out of these project studios? My point is, for professionals, Logic is becoming less and less of an option, most everyone that used it professionally has been disappointed in Apples support of the product, a long time between upgrades and except for user boards like this... literally zero professional support. You know there's problems when you call up Apple and know far more about Logic than the support staff. It seems like both of those are starting to improve but I think it's a little too late. Also... there's still the "blast of white noise" problem that hasn't been addressed, no professional studio can take that kind of chance.
Apple is using Logic to sell hardware, smart business, absolutely. However, cutting the price in half, removing the copy protection and throwing in the kitchen sink plus seemingly not giving a d@mn that the program is pirated leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

  • Error with automator & soundtrack pro

I'm trying to make a workflow that will take a finder selection of apple loops (including a folder) and open them with soundtrack pro and save as... AIFF files. I'm getting an error on the last step no matter what I do. I originally thought the aiff file options had to match the .caf attributes (i.e. same sample rate, bit depth, etc.) but fixing that doesn't seem to help.
    Here's the error log:
2009-01-27 10:59:12 -0500: The action “Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data.
2009-01-27 10:59:12 -0500: Get Selected Finder Items completed
    2009-01-27 10:59:13 -0500: Open Finder Items completed
    2009-01-27 10:59:13 -0500: (null) failed
An error occurred while converting \U201Ccom.apple.applescript.alias-object\U201D to \U201Ccom.apple.soundtrackpro.document.audiofile-object\U201D.
So here's what's weird: I keep getting this “Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data," but the results shows the file I have selected in the file, and subsequent steps in the workflow show the selected file being passed correctly… so I'm not really sure what the problem is. I've written other workflows with the GSFI object and haven't seen this error before, so if anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it.
    Thanks much.

and the applescript alias of the file I'm working with is:
    {alias "Macintosh HD:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro:Apple Loops:Andy Boretto:beepsandclicks1.caf"}
One other note - just to double-check, I deleted the "open w/ soundtrack, save as" actions and replaced them with "copy file, rename file" and the workflow completes without a problem– BUT I'm still getting the "“Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data" error, so I'm still not sure what's going on there.

  • Getting Soundtrack Pro to record with M-Audio Firewire Solo?

I'm having trouble trying to record 'live' into Soundtrack Pro. I've got a mic into analog mixer into M-Audio Firewire Solo audio interface into ibook set up.
In STP, I can select firewire channels 1 to 2 (under "Recording" tab) for the input device but nothing is recording when I hit the record button. the mic>mixer bit is working fine. I'm quite certain the mixer>audio bit is working so I think its a problem with compatibility between the M-Audio Firewire Solo device and Soundtrack Pro software....although it shows up as an option in the select audio input/output settings in STP... I've also got the latest Tiger driver for the Firewire Solo device and the latest update for STP.
I CAN record from the in-built mic on the ibook so that bit works...
Currently, I've been recording individual tracks into Audacity then exporting them all as separate tracks into Soundtrack Pro for post production as AIFF files (drag and drop them into STP in the order I require). I'm doing this as a temporary measure until I can find out how to get M-Audio Firewire Solo talking to Soundtrack Pro.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Well, I got it working with Soundtrack Pro and Audio Hijack Pro in the end. It seems that only the front side of M-Audio FireWire Solo recording interface actually seems to work and only the right channel (mono). Its a little bit annoying but it works...not sure why the back ones did not work (s/pdif, balanced and unbalanced phone jacks plugs), perhaps its something to do with the fact that the front has gain level knobs and the back doesn't....hmm...maybe not enough power to drive the back connectors?
Anyway, if any of you happen to use M-Audio FireWire audio interfaces (analog to digital converter) and you face a similar problem, then its probably going to be a similar thing...

  • Soundtrack pro (1.1) with edirol ua-25??

This box is a bit older but I'm hoping perhaps someone can help.
Has anyone figured out a way to make an Edirol UA-25 USB Audio Capture box work with Soundtrack Pro? It works perfectly with any other Mac audio capture program I try...for which I can't find many...I want to use Soundtrack!
    Any suggestions?

Nevermind, I'm an idiot and can't figure out a way to delete the question.
I figured out that Soundtrack Pro will only show the input device if the sample rate matches that of the current document. And since the default was 48000 and my box was set to 44000, it didn't show up.
Maybe that will help someone else that is clueless.
