Constant crashes with 3.04

I've never had trouble with Safari until I upgrade via 10.4.11 to v3
Now it constantly crashes. Just no real reason. I've gone as far as to do a complete archive install of the system, threw away the prefs and plist and even reset everything. Made sure I don't have anything special as an add-on as mentioned in threads here. Updated Flash to make sure that plug in wasn't causing it. I like several of the features of v3 but its so unstable.
I can copy in the latest crash log but its huge. My RAM is fine as I use all the Adobe Suites for work and Adobe programs are very picky on ram if there's a problem.
TIA!

Please post the crash report text next time you get a crash. Without it we are all totally guessing (as opposed to only semi-guessing with the crash report information).
It isn't at all unstable for me, or most other people, so there is something different about your machine configuration if it is crashing for you. The trick is someone being able to spot (hopefully from the crash report, or otherwise from a good guess) what that different thing is that's causing you to have such a bad experience.

  • Constant Crashes with iDVD on MacBook Pro

I have iDVD 6.02, 1.5GB RAM, 80GB internal HD, and 250GB external Firewire HD. So far I have tried:
    Trashing the .plist
    Trashing caches
Loggin on as a different user
    Checked for duplicate fonts
    Repaired permissions
Repaired volume (external drive where the digital assets are)
I am experiencing constant crashes is I try to add a slideshow item to my project. Slideshows imported from iPhoto seem to work fine but don't allow the manual advance feature (and I have heard the image quality may suffer a bit from the double encode.) Any other ideas on what I can try to get this to work? I have been stuggling with this for hours now and can't see to figure out what is causing the problem.

Where did you save your iDVD project to? External drive? User/Documents folder on your start-up drive?
    All that RAM from Apple?

  • Constant crashing with FF13 and newest Flash. Tried reinstall of previous version; nothing but trouble

A few weeks ago, everything worked very nicely on my desktop computer. Then I succumbed to the nagging and "upgraded" to FF13, as well as the new Flash and Real players. Immediately, FF started crashing. First, it would instantly crash with any tab that had Flash embedded.
OK, I disabled and then finally uninstalled Flash and Real, but that didn't solve the problem; it would still crash 3 or 4 times a day, and with as few as 30 tabs open (the previous version could easily run 100+ tabs). Apart from those 3 "updates", the only other thing I had done was to update my existing plug-ins and add-ons, but I even tried disabling all of my plug-ins and add-ons; FF still kept crashing!
Today, I got fed up and uninstalled FF13 (after using MozBackup), and d/loaded and installed the previous version of FF. Did that solve the problem? Nope. Now, I can't get Tab Mix Plus to work, nor can I find my hundreds of old saved Sessions with Session Manager.
I tried uninstalling Tab Mix Plus and then reinstalling it, but I just get an error message saying it couldn't be installed. In fact, this is the THIRD time I've had to type this post, since the first time, I mistakenly tried to open a new tab to search Tab Mix Plus in Google, but the f{ck1ng tab opened Google right over this page, wiping out my almost finished post, and the second time, I went to Tools-->Options-->Manage Add-Ons-->Tab Mix Plus-->Options, and it froze up FF, requiring restarting it! Indeed, it seems as if the entire Manage Add-Ons menu is now buggy and generally freezes up.
I am *this*far*away* from ditching FF entirely (after 7 years of being loyal to it) and trying Chrome. It really is infuriating how difficult it is to get this straightened out! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried creating a new Firefox profile and testing whether that will run without crashes? This is a non-destructive test that creates a new settings folder. It picks up plugins from the registry, but otherwise looks like a fresh install.
If you haven't used the Profile Manager before, this article describes how to start up into it and create a new profile: [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]].
You can import your bookmarks by restoring a backup from your previous profile folder. For convenience of access, make a copy of your last bookmarks backup on the desktop. You can find that folder using Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder; navigate up one level to view your last active profile, then into the bookmarkbackups folder. Copy the latest .json file to the desktop. Then in the dialog pictured in the article "[[Back up your bookmarks or move them to another computer]]", use Restore > Choose File to import that file into your new profile.
Can you get through a day without crashing?

  • CS4 (PS 11) constant crashes with larger files -

I am encountering persistent program crashes with Photoshop 11 (CS4) when I have multiple layers (four or more) and the file size exceeds 75 mb. The error message that Photoshop has encountered a problem and is closing appears without further details. When I reopen PS, I then get the message about "Photoshop encountering a problem with the display driver and disabled GPU enhancement" despite the fact that I previously unchecked enable OpenGL drawing in the preferences-performance tab. It is blank on that tab after "Detected Video Card" whereas in CS3, it correctly notes the following video card. My video card is nVidia GeForce 7600 GT with the latest driver dated 10/07/08.I have 4 GB of RAM, however in the performance tab of preferences it notes 1.633 GB AM available and Photoshop using 960 mb. I also have CS3 (PS10) and do not encounter the same problem. The OS is Vista.

Please search the various threads in this forum pertaining to OpenGL issues. Updating to the latest driver 178.24 is inevitable. Also check for the "Old GPU" enabling registry hack. The prefs only get saved on program exit, so it's natural the old options are in place after a crash. Disable OpenGL, exit the program, relaunch it and only then start working with it.

  • Constant crashing with Logic Pro and Vienna Inst

I saw somewhere on the forum (but can't find it) a string regarding constant crashing of Logic Pro using Vienna Instruments (Special Edition). I'm experiencing 2-5 minutes of work time and then a crash - quite regularly. I also saw people point to Mac OS 10.4.9, which I also have - has this been identified as the culprit and have any fixes been offered?
    Help!

Actually it's more like 1-2 minutes - sure seems coincidental to having downloaded 10.4.9 - anybody got any suggestions out there? This is killing me.

  • Constant Crashes with Snow Leopard 6.1

I, like many others, am having a terrible time of it since installing Snow Leopard. Nearly everything is crashing at some point - even Apple apps. Safari, Firefox, iTunes, Mail - all crash unexpectedly. Even when I quit legitimately using CMD+Q I get, for instance, a "Safari has quit unexpectedly" message and a Crash Report all ready to go to Apple (of course, substitute any app for Safari in the message).
It's even worse using Photoshop CS4 etc... There the app crashes +WHEN I'M TRYING TO SAVE MY WORK!+ I can't believe that I'm actually near the point of doing damage to my Mac! I thought Apple always released stable OS upgrades, so what's going on?? Has Microsoft invaded our space???
I've read so many posts where people are experiencing the same thing as me, but has anyone come up with, or found a solution?
If you have, then please reply or start a new +"How To Stop Snow Leopard Crashing Everything In Sight"+ thread... I think it'll be the biggest post around and you'll be loudly proclaimed a GOD if you can help!
    All the best folks
    finty

I am having similar problems with crashes and plain old taking forever to move from one app to another which has all 4 of our mac users pretty disappointed that we upgraded. I find it hard to believe that MAC has Microsofted us.
The reply you received only shows fixes for leopard 10.5 what about Snow leopard and Apple Support?
    Any suggestions?

  • Constant crashing with Flash CC in Windows 8.1

Hello I am an avid Flash user who has worked in the program for roughly 10 years since before it was bought by Adobe and called Macromedia MX5. This most recent version of Flash CC is incredibly buggy with respect to the following areas..
I am constantly suffering crashes in Flash on my windows 8.1 desktop computer. The tower I have is more than capable to handle Flash CC so I don't understand why it is crashing. This isn't happening with even heavier hitting software such as After Effects only Flash CC.
I especially notice crashes and stalling when saving as well as when scrubbing or playing in the timeline or trying to clear key frames or adjust keyframes in any manner.
Additionally I have noticed more substantial problems and flaws with Flash CC in comparison to previous versions. This is evident most in the audio options. I think a lot of the problems that stem from audio playback and lagging playback time is the fact that audio is defaulting to a repeat function of 1x when it should default to no repeat function. Sometimes changing repeat to 0 resolves this issue but even still audio always seems to start from beginning of the clip/sound file as opposed to playhead despite having stream selected. This was never a probelm in previous versions of Flash for me, EVER. I don't understand how this has become a problem now all of a sudden when this version of Flash is supposed to be running 64bit as opposed to 32bit.
I also noticed that the audio on some files has ceased to work when I revisit the file later on. It will not play no matter what in the stage/timeline but is audible when I do a test movie or export movie.
Is anyone else having similar issues here? I didn't seem to have so many problems when I was using Flash CS6, this audio thing is probably my biggest beef though I can't say I'm too fond of the crashing either.

first try resetting your preferences by holding down shift-ctrl-alt while starting flash pro.  you'll see a confirmation dialog if done correctly.
if that fails, uninstall and then reinstall flash pro.
if that fails, uninstall, clean and then reinstall flash pro following these steps exactly, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

  • Constant crashes with Edge Animate and Yosemite

I'm using Edge Animate running on a macbook pro and it is crashing every few minutes (like many others are reporting).
The program is up-to-date. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it.
Sometimes after a minute or two of working, the display features disappear. Old bounding boxes remain but, with some careful cursor action, I can still manipulate the image or symbol. . .  until the entire program freezes. Other times things just stop working (e.g., motion paths). The only solution is to force quit the program -- the button on the crash notice rarely works.
Each time it crashes, it seems to create another Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1 Helper in the Activity Monitor (don't know what that means). I've tried deleting them but it doesn't help.
    In the console, I get
2/18/15 9:16:30.612 AM Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1[4172]: *** Assertion failure in -[NSEvent subtype], /SourceCache/AppKit/AppKit-1343.16/AppKit.subproj/NSEvent.m:2427
There are 43 lines (!!!) that are identical to the one above.
This is obviously a known problem and needs to be acknowledged and fixed!

    Hi L Nordstrom,
    - If you have Dropbox installed, uninstall the software and retry.
    - If you are accessing files from a remote network, copy them to your local computer, and retry.
Let us know if you still face issues.

  • Constant crashes with CS3 on OS 10.4.11

I manage the content on our newspaper's Web site
(www.northcountyoutlook.com) and make updates every two weeks to
reflect stories published in the paper. This means adding a brief
summary of the article on a home page, then creating a new page to
post the full article. Contribute crashes constantly while I'm
doing this... maybe 10 times an hour. So frustrating! Does anyone
have any idea of why this happens, and if there's any solution to
the problem? Right now all our site updates are done manually,
which requires a full day of work (at least) and this crashing
problem adds a lot of time and frustration to the process.

Chiming in to commiserate with you . Just created a new site
today and it seems to be working ok, but I have experienced severe
and frequent crashes before as you describe - - only on the Mac. PC
doesn't seem to have this issue with CT. I just did a fresh
reformat of my MacBook Pro as well.

  • Constant crashes with no common theme

Firefox is crashing constantly. I can't seem to pinpoint why. I have many crash ID's and they all appear to be the same in the about:crash logs.

  • Constant Crashes with Specific FCP X Project.

    Hey all,
I've just recently upgraded to a 27" iMac with 24 gigs of ram, 2 gigs of video ram, 3.2 GHz i5, 1 TB Fusion drive, and I'm editing in FCP X.
I'm running the latest Mountain Lion. 10.8.3
I'm doing a project now and I'm getting towards the end of it, and it's starting to crash. At first it only happened a few times, but now it's just about every 2-3 minutes. It seems as if I can switch to another project / event and work just fine without any crashes. However it's not cooperating with this one specific (and important) project.
I've dumped the prefs files and uninstalled / reinstalled the only third part app I'm using. (Magic Bullet Looks 2.1.0)
Yes I have the current FCP X Version.
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Here is a screenshot of the crash report.

When just one project is causing problems, it's usually a sign of a corrupt file or files.
Unless you can find which one(s) you will not be able to finish the project.
If you can remember when it started you could remove that part of the project to see if there is an improvement.
    There's no easy answer.

  • Constant crash with managed library on external drive

I have never had a problem until lion installation.
I have been through the basic steps repaired and reconstructed library
    reinstalled aperture with update
repaired disk with utility from lion
    repaired permissions
    deleted plist
    cussed and repented
It loads most of the images into a preview while it continues to process for a long time before crashing.  It looks like a couple of the images on the events are messed up.  I don't know if there are some corrupt images.  There wasn't a problem before lion took over?   I don't know whether to load aperture on my laptop and try to access with snow leopard or what.  I don't know if I get lightroom if i can transfer over?  frustrated as ****

I have been using a Gsafe 2tb mirrored hard drive via firewire for the library.  I haven't had any problems since I have been using aperture.  Did well with aperture update with snow leopard.  Just after did lion where problem started.  I also deleted FC express since I heard that could cause problems also

  • Constant crashing with Snow Leopard, even with "clean install"

I've had a lot of trouble with crashes after installing SL. These crashes seem related to video issues. iMovie crashes immediately. iPhoto crashes if I double-click a photo. QuickTime crashes all the time. Usually these crash the entire system. The video of my entire screen sometimes get broken and jittery just before such a system crash. I've also had the crash where the screen becomes gray and I'm told to restart in many languages.
Anyway, I finally erased my disk and "clean installed" SL, updated it to 10.6.5, then installed iLife 11 and updated that. iMovie immediately crashed. Does this confirm a hardware error, or are there some hidden settings (like in the PRAM) that can be wrong and are carried over even through a clean install? If so, how do I restore these to the factory defaults?

Those are "kernel panics," which are usually hardware-related.
Start with this: [Intel-based Macs: Using Apple Hardware Test|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509].
and the (free) Rember, a heavy-duty memory tester, from: http://www.kelleycomputing.net/
If nothing there helps, see this Apple article: [If “You need to restart your computer” appears|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8965.html].

  • Fireworks CS3 OS X constant crashes with complex files

I recently purchased CS3 and started using Fireworks CS3
instead of Photoshop for web development. Absolutely love it. I
started having crashes, mainly on opening complex files created in
Fireworks CS3. A couple weeks ago I formatted my entire system,
starting completely from scratch, only installing the applications
and fonts that I absolutely needed. Nevertheless, I continue to get
Fireworks crashes, which appear by the logs to be related to a
    memory leak in Fireworks.
If Fireworks only crashed itself, the issue would be bad
enough. But it brings down several other apps with it. The apps are
different each time. Sometimes it crashes Mail and Dashboard
Calendar, sometimes it crashes Firefox and iCal. Rarely does it
crash only itself. And rarely does it crash all programs. It's
usually a random selection of apps.
All other CS3 apps have worked beautifully. All other apps on
the box work great. And the log is filled with stuff like:
    quote:
Adobe Fireworks CS3(299,0xa000cfc0) malloc: *** Deallocation

Heaven forbid, Linda! How dare a Fireworks user talk about
his problem with yet another buggy Macrodobe product. The nerve!
Telling him to contact your support is like telling him to contact
the man in the moon because you've run out of cheese.
Brian, I share your frustration. Fireworks has become
completely unstable for me with large or complex files on my Mac.
It works much better on my PC though. It has been my experience
that almost all releases of Macrodobe software works this way on a
mac until late in its product cycle.
This, sadly, seems to be the way Macrodobe works though. :(
This is a user to user forum, Brian. There's not much we can
    do about
such issues here. Your best bet would be to contact Adobe
    Customer Service.
