Constant crashing of FCP 5
I have just installed FCP 5 upgrading from FCP 4.5. I now have the program quitting frequently. I am editing video in the form of a Quicktime movie and stills made from a Keynote presentation in native Keynote dimensions 800 x 600 pixels. When I boot in single-user mode, I get the folowing message which may or may not relate.
"localhost:/ root# in6ifattachlinklocal: failed to configure a link-local address on lo0 (errno=55)
in6_ifattach: lo0 failed to attach a linklocal address"
Can someone translate this and tell me if it has anything to do with crashing FCP 5?
I've no idea what it means... But be sure to be running 5.0.4 and QT 7.2.
But if you're unstable, try trashing prefs, if that fails, and repairing permissions doesn't help, then it's probably time to do a clean install of it all... i.e. erase and install Tiger, then add the software... you don't need to install FCP 4.5 first, just have it's serial number handy because an upgrade DVD will ask for both the old and new serial numbers. FCP 5.0.4 or FCP 5.14 is where you need to be in the end after running software update.

Constant crash on G5 with decklink
my system: G5 dual 2,7, OSX 10.4.6, 4.5 GIG RAM
APERTURE 1.1.1
i have the complete final cut studio installed. video card is a decklink HD.
apperture would be a great piece of software, if it would not crash all the time. and i really mean: ever some minutes! it is really abolutely unusable on my system. wich - by the way - runs perfectly smooth except aperture.
are there known issues regarding aperture and a system like mine?
tanks for your input !okay, i found it myself. the problem really is the decklink. in the decklink control settings (new drivers 5.5.1) you have to check "VIDEO DESKTOP - DISABLE AFTER RESTART". After rebooting the constant crashs are gone.
Important notice for FCP users like me: If you leave the settings like this, you still can work with FCP. The video output on the decklink card still works. its just about the osx desktop feature... -
Hello,
I am having constant crashes in Safari 5.0.4. This never happened until today.
I have reset Safari, deleted the cache.db files and prefs (p.lists) and disabled extns, and done a Safari re-install, but i still get the following crash every time i use Safari.
Even a right-click command to open a new page causes a crash.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated - I'm in the middle of a project and don't have time for an entire OS re-install.
I hope the info listed below give you some insight into the cause of the problem.
Cheers

Open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the LIbrary folder then the Input Managers folder.
Move these files to the Trash: Ecamm/Ecamm Plugin Loader.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Ecamm Plugin Loader
and these: Ecamm/Plugins/iGlasses.plugin/Contents/MacOS/iGlasses
From that same Library folder open the Scripting Additions folder. Move these files to the Trash:
SIMBL.osax/Contents/MacOS/SIMBL
Same Library folder open the Application Support folder. Move these files to the Trash: SIMBL/Plugins/Keywurl.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Keywurl
Restart Safari.
Apparently iGlasses can only run if you start Safari in 32 bit mode according to the information here.
http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iglasses/faq.html
You would have to restart in 64 bit when not using the plug in. Probably not worth the hassle. I hope you only have the trial version installed.
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.5 (10H574)
You also need to update to v10.6.6. You can do this by clicking your Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click Software Update.

Ever since I started using Mozilla Firefox on my new Windows 7 computer it has crashed -- sometimes a few times a day, sometimes every ten minutes. I will copy the error message details at the end of this, if I can. I have tried numerous technicians and no one has been able to solve it. (I did reset Firefox more than once.) Just today, right clicking on the Firefox icon and going to compatability, I discovered that "Windows XP" was in the window instead of Windows 7. With the help of a Frontier technician (my internet provider) I changed that from Windows XP to Windows 7. We rebooted the computer, hoisted up Firefox, right-clicked on the icon, and sure enough it said "Windows 7" in the compatability window. However, after a short while Firefox crashed again. Right-clicking on the Firefox icon, I saw that it had reverted to "Windows XP" in the compatability window. Questions: Would Firefox's confusion about whether it was on a Windows XP or a Windows 7 computer cause crashes? Why would Firefox's compatability window revert from Windows 7 back to Windows XP? I have a theory, but I am not an expert: A local technician came in and transferred my Firefox from my WIndows XP computer to my WIndows 7 computer. I don't know whether he installed Firefox from your website or simply transferred the program from my XP computer. However, I asked him to keep my bookmarks. I have an icon on my Windows 7 computer: "Old Firefox Files." I thought that these files (there are four of them, all containing pretty much the same thing) were just my bookmarks, but looking at them today, it looks to me as if they contain the whole Firefox program from my XP computer. My inexpert theory: Firefox is reverting from WIndows 7 to Windows XP because my transferred bookmarks are XP-based. A Frontier technician today suggested I uninstall and re-install Firefox. Sounds like a good idea to me, however I am afraid that my old bookmarks will again confuse Firefox about whether it's in an XP or Windows 7 OS. Bookmarks are essential to the way I use my computer. In fact, many technicians suggested that I use Chrome instead of Firefox, but Chrome does not have an easily accessed bookmark list, like Firefox does in its vertical bookmark window. (Also, I would rather not have anything to do with Google.) Of course, I may be completely wrong about it being my bookmarks and the files transferred from my XP that are screwing up Firefox. Basically: Constant crashes and error messages; compatability window reverts from Windows 7 to Windows XP for some reason; bookmarks and other old Firefox program files have been put on this Windows 7 computer. What do you think I should do to keep Firefox from crashing?
Here (hopefully) is the error message I get when Firefox crashes. It crashes no matter what website I am on at the moment:

Firefox 15.0.1 Constant Crashing Windows 7 64bit
I am running Windows 7 64bit, Firefox 15.0.1 and all my addons are up to date. I have two extensions installed - AVG Do Not Track and Adblock. I have eight pluggins installed and three are normally disabled - Adobe Acrobat10.1.4.38, Google Update 1.3.21.115(Disabled), Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.70.10 10.7.2.10, Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U7 10.7.2.10, Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.4761.1000(Disabled), Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.4730.1010(Disabled), Picasa 3.0.0.0, Shockwave Flash 11.4.402.278. I do not want to roll back the display driver because it fixed a display issue that caused a distortion in my monitor. So what are my options? Is it even the display driver? I have included my crash reports to assist in troubleshooting the issue.
Hope I am not TOO hostile in my reply here but you have to understand I am frazzled after trying to resolve this issue for 4 days now... constant crashing on 15.0.1 and on 14.XX.X.
I thought I might find an answer here, but I am amazed to see people continue to reference articles that require you to have FF '''RUNNING''' in order to perform any troubleshooting or analysis.
Come on guys... READ the posts before you reference an article that is moot because it requires FF to work in order to follow it! if we could get it stable enough to run... the issue would e easier to localize and identify! -
Since I "upgraded" to FF 4, I have constant crashes (I tried updating my graphics drivers--it did not help) and now all of my bookmarks have disappeared. When I try to restore them, I get this error message "Unable to process the backup file". I have lost years of bookmarks...please help.
I am using Windows XP, SP 3 if that matters.I am also unable to restore any of the backups of the bookmarks, both automatic backups and two backups that I created manually. Since I was able to restore backups before, and since no changes have occurred to these backup files, the problem must be with Firefox.
Right before my bookmarks disappeared, FF crashed and I accidentally started FF 3.5. When I saw what I did, I ended the Firefox process and started FF 4. That's when all my bookmarks were gone and I discovered I couldn't retrieve any backups. I did note that an add-on was updated when I restarted FF. Maybe that's the problem. Does FF have a Safe mode? -
I have a 2010 unibody Mac Mini. It came stock with a 320GB HDD and i have upgraded it to 8GB of Apple approved Kingston RAM.
The machine worked just fine under Mac OS 10.6.8, could be up for days and days and be perfectly stable.
Since upgrading to Mac OS X 10.8, i have had constant crashes in Safari, and a bunch of other apps and the only thing really similar between the messages is the following line:
/System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGLDriver.bundle/Contents/MacOS/GeForceGLDriver
This error has caused many apps to crash, including but not limited to:
Safari
App Store
VLC
Quicktime
PhotoBooth
Activity Monitor
Safari seems to be the main culprit, it crashes constantly, i can use it for a bit, then it will crash, sometimes it will crash again directly after re-launch. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Apps do not quit in a cascading fashion, apps that have previously quit with the same line in the logs have not occured concurrently with other crashes at the same time. I have created a guest account to test the system and I'm having the same issue globally, so i've managed to mostly rule out my profile. I have no extentions installed and no plugins other than Flash and Silverlight. There seems to be no direct correlation between the use of either of these plugins when the crashes occur. Removing these plugins does not alleviate the problem. System can be heavily loaded, or entirely idle. I've come home from a 12 hour day to find a couple apps have crashed during the time i was gone.
App store was the only app running when it crashed. The only other noteable thing to add is that after the crash occurs, the system will spin up all the connected external drives. I have tried disconnecting all external drives and peripherals and have been met with the same issues.
Anyone have any thoughts one what may be causing this and how it may be fixed (Short of reinstalling...)?

Constant Crashing of MacBook Pro when connected to Iphone 3GS 4.3 via USB
The USB Personal Hotspot works great with 3GS and MacbookPro EXCEPT for the constant crashes where you have to reboot. This ONLY Happens while connected via USB to 3GS with Personal Hotspot.
It never happens via regular wifi connections.
Is there a bug in 4.3?You people do not know how relieved I am that this isn't only happening to me. The thought of returning my 4-day-old 2011 macbook pro is just plain torture.

Boris Title 3D keeps crashing my FCP?
My Boris 3D titling tool keeps crashing my FCP????? And when I relaunches FCP it doesn't even bring me back to the same project???
ThanksI'm having the same issue. This is particularly painful because I'm going back to earlier projects that used Boris 3D for the titles.
Have you found any resolution to this? -

Serious frustration over constant crashing of InDesign CS6
Hi everyone
I am seriously beyond frustrated over constant crashing from InDesign CS6. If InDesign is a person, I would have slammed its face into the wall by now. Just these two days, while working on a 160 pages document, Indesign has crashed more than 20 times and everytime it does, the crash report is too large to post to pastebin.
Basically, when I reflow text, it crashed. When I tried generating TOC it crashed. While inserting new cross references, I mis-clicked and clicked on "update" instead and it crashed. When I deleted one page, it crashed. When I deleted one textbox, it crashed. I can't seem to stop it from crashing. I'm really really frustrated coz there's no one or place I can take the damn document to so that I can some answers from someone why it crashes soooo frequently. I did another document, which was around the same size, it was fine. No drama. Why this is different?
Is it because I have a running headers? So everytime I do something, it will update and then crash? Can I stop running headers from updating automatically? Can I set it to update manually?
I'm soooooooooooooooo over it. I can't seem to figure out the crashing problem. I have turned off Smart Flow thinking that it was what causing it. Still the same thing.
I'm running OSX Mountain Lion with SF4.
I'm sure it will crash again. I might have to post a pdf doc of the crash report.
Any idea will be appreciatedIt could be a font but there's nothing I could do about it because it's a template document. I have to use that font, DIN by the way.
Yes, there are cross references and some of them were transferred from Word doc when I placed text in. So I went through and removed those coz they were wrong anyway.
I also added cross references to the running headers like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBgBQJLErCM
Basically, the style of the document (designed by another designer) had numbering in front of the chapter titles and it's throughout the document so there could be up to 12 running titles. I had a feeling it would be this because this is the only thing I did differently this time around using this file, but it's either this way or create 12 Master Pages.
Does anyone know how else can I do a running headers with numbering?
Thanks for your help. -
PP CC 2014 Constant Crashing MBPr
Hi Folks,
Firstly please excuse me if this post is in the wrong place or if I do something wrong. It is my first time.
I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction.
I am running an up to date version of Premiere Pro CC 2014 on my Late 2013 MacBook Pro 13' Retina.
I have two external hard drives. The 2TB is for Footage/Project Files. The other 1TB is for Render and Media Cache. Both are connected via USB3.
I am struggling with constant crashes. I have the bug report, its very long so I wasn't sure if I could just post it into this initial question?
Please could somebody inform me if I am doing something wrong with my set up, causing the project to constantly crash.
If you need further info I will gladly provide.
Thank you in advance!!
Regards
JarmanHi All,
Taking some tips from Kevin Monahan. If you haven't already gone through this list please do so. If your issues persist after attempting all of these solutions please let me know. If you could send me a crash log the next time you crash that would be helpful.
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
Update any GPU drivers
Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe preference files are set to read/write
Delete media cache
Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
Disable App Nap
Reboot

Constant Crashes with iDVD on MacBook Pro
I have iDVD 6.02, 1.5GB RAM, 80GB internal HD, and 250GB external Firewire HD. So far I have tried:
Trashing the .plist
Trashing caches
Loggin on as a different user
Checked for duplicate fonts
Repaired permissions
Repaired volume (external drive where the digital assets are)
I am experiencing constant crashes is I try to add a slideshow item to my project. Slideshows imported from iPhoto seem to work fine but don't allow the manual advance feature (and I have heard the image quality may suffer a bit from the double encode.) Any other ideas on what I can try to get this to work? I have been stuggling with this for hours now and can't see to figure out what is causing the problem.Where did you save your iDVD project to? External drive? User/Documents folder on your start-up drive?
All that RAM from Apple? -
I'm now on OSX 10.8.4 with Mainstage 2.1.3 with MOTU Mach Five 2.02 - somewhere in my upgrades since everything was humming along nicely I now have 'Incompatable' warnings from Mainstage re Mach Five) and constant crashes... what upgrade now?? Thank you
Try reinstall iPhoto:
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
If that fails then I think you need to reinstall the OS.
