Constant crashing of Premier Pro

I'm no longer able to use Premier Pro.  Every time I open it, it crashes.  Sometimes I'm able to do a few things - like capture some DV video from my camera - and other times it crashes right away.  This happens when opening an existing project or creating a new project.  On existing projects, it crashes if they are big projects or small things I've just started.  I uninstalled and reinstalled, downloaded the upgrade from the Adobe site, and still have the problem.  Any ideas?  I have 4 GB of RAM and about 20 GB of space on my hard drive.  Note that I was able to use the software for a few weeks, and create some projects, so this is a new problem.
Thanks for any advice or help!
Mary Beth

Mary Beth,
I had the same symptoms like you, so I presume you are on a Windows OS like myself.  The people who contribute have helped me solve other situations before. Like Hunt mentioned, it usually is because a change like a recent upgrade or update in a software that has taken place. Well, I read Hunt's and Harm's response to checking the latest events on your computer and I found that Windows updated my files ( even though I have it on manual) with something that affects or enhances Windows Media Center.  I just have a nominal 8gb ram, duo-core processr, with three clean and non-partioned hard drives, and a 1 gb/256 bit graphic accelerator card computer which is set-up strictly for Adobe Production Suite. I removed all the games and goodies that came with the newly upgraded Vista 64-bit OS.   Try manually downloading to update and "extract" the zip file of PrPro CS4 4.0.1.   It's on this download site.  It has worked for me.  In the file it has a 3rd party user update. My computer wasn't recognizing my canon xlh1 with PrPro, but it could with the simple Windows Movie Maker.  Therefore, I realized it may be a codec problem - just like everyone said. "These guys and gals are real good!"
Even though my preferences in PrPro is set to automatically update, it didn't automatically update that file.  Now PrPro works like how it did when I first installed it. I hope this helps.
Aloha, Lono
Ps. Also, if you are using your main hard drive's OS to capture and store, your computer is likely to crash when using PrPro.

  • Constant crashing with Logic Pro and Vienna Inst

I saw somewhere on the forum (but can't find it) a string regarding constant crashing of Logic Pro using Vienna Instruments (Special Edition). I'm experiencing 2-5 minutes of work time and then a crash - quite regularly. I also saw people point to Mac OS 10.4.9, which I also have - has this been identified as the culprit and have any fixes been offered?
    Help!

Actually it's more like 1-2 minutes - sure seems coincidental to having downloaded 10.4.9 - anybody got any suggestions out there? This is killing me.

  • Constant Crashing of MacBook Pro when connected to Iphone 3GS 4.3 via USB

The USB Personal Hotspot works great with 3GS and MacbookPro EXCEPT for the constant crashes where you have to reboot. This ONLY Happens while connected via USB to 3GS with Personal Hotspot.
It never happens via regular wifi connections.
Is there a bug in 4.3?

You people do not know how relieved I am that this isn't only happening to me. The thought of returning my 4-day-old 2011 macbook pro is just plain torture.

  • Safari constant crashing on Macbook Pro

    Hi,
Safari is constantly crashing on my MacBook Pro. I have used migration assistant to transfer my user and network data but the problem did not seem to start until I updated to 10.4.6.
I have tried all the tips on other posts (deleting icon folder, cache, history, duplicate fonts, plist file, rebooting) but so far nothing has worked. It does not seem to be any particular web page that causes the problem, it just crashes within a few minutes of opening when loading a page. Firefox is working fine but I want to use Safari! Even running using Rosetta does not seem to help.
If anybody has any ideas I would love to hear from you!

This article from MacFixit might just solve the problem for you:
This is yet another case of an issue we've reported on several times -- a result of a PowerPC plug-in operating under a Universal application.
Problems with plug-ins occur when an application is run natively in the Intel environment, but some of its plug-ins have not yet been updated and attempt to run in PowerPC (Rosetta) mode. When this happens, Mac OS X is unable to separate the tasks and simultaneously run the application in native Intel-mode alongside the plug-in in Rosetta.
If you need to make use of the plug-ins, you can tell Mac OS X to force a Universal application to run in the Rosetta emulation environment. When this option is selected, only the PowerPC code will run.
This can be accomplished by accessing the Get Info pane for an application (select the application in the Finder, go to the File menu and choose Get Info or press Command-I), then clicking the checkbox labeled "Open using Rosetta." One such scenario where forcing an application to run in Rosetta is necessary involves Safari.
    Hope it helps,
    Miriam

  • IChat 3.1.4 constant crashing on MacBook Pro

Okay, so I know I'm not the only one with this problem? I can't keep iChat 3.1.4 running for more than a minute without it crashing. I typicallly run iChat using a wireless internet connection. I had this same problem on my old PowerBook G4.
I've sent many "crash reports" to Apple but they never seem to respond or offer a fix. Any help?
    Thanks.

Ralph, I'm not an expert. I travel and use my wireless connection at hotels, hotspots, Apple Airports, etc. It doesn't seem to matter where I'm at, the problem occurs and I still seem to have connectivity with the internet. Don't know if this helps answer your question. I've pasted the crash logs. Look forward to hearing back.

  • Constant crashing Premiere Pro 5.5.2 on PC

Can anybody help me with constant crashes of Premiere Pro?
I'm on an HP Pavillion Elite (e9250t) running an Intel Core i5 CPU, 2.67GHz with 8 GB of Ram.  It's a 64 bit OS (Win 7).  Graphics card is ATI RAdeon HD 4650.
Just installed the software (v5.5) via download yesterday.  Has crashed 8-10 times, even after I updated to 5.5.2.
Seems to happen when I preview in Source monitor (I'm reading the board that this is common???)
    Premiere's crash report says:
    Problem Event Name:
    APPCRASH
      Application Name:
    Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
      Application Version:
    5.5.2.0
      Application Timestamp:
    4e960e56
      Fault Module Name:
    ImageRenderer.dll
      Fault Module Version:
    5.5.2.0
When it crashes I must reboot my entire system.
    Ideas?

Terrific, thank you.  I'll go do that.
Source footage is a variety of .mpg comp footage from a stock house (at 400 X 226) and an mpeg4 at 1280 X 720.
Sequence preset is DV NTSC 720 X 480.
This am, prior to seeing your comments, I was working and did two things..one, I did not turn on Bridge.  I really like Bridge, but remembered that it seemed to be involved when the lock ups happened.  Second, I was cautious with Source panel.  I had not realized that footage sampled there stayed open; every 4 clips or so I clear all.
    No freezes thus far today.
I will go download the drivers, sounds like a good suggestion.  Meanwhile, do you know if Bridge has any maintenance needs?  I saw on one board to "clear my caches" but I'm not sure how to do that.
    THANK YOU.

  • Premier Pro CC 2014 crashing, wasting enormous time, not able to load files into previous rev - this is crazy!!!

    SOMEONE AT ADOBE PLEASE HELP!!!
I have had no problems editing Red Epic 4K R3D files in the past revisions of Premier CC but ever since creative cloud updated me to the latest Premier CC 2014 (8.0.1) I cant get any serious work done as my system is crashing on startup, or after a few minutes of work, freezing on playback at times, giving me artifacts at times and is just a miserable and frustrating experience I can get NOTHING done with!!!
How could Adobe release a piece of so called professional software like this with these now obvious MAJOR issues so many of us are experiencing, wasting massive time and money for all of its users and how can I get this running properly and stable as our livelihoods depend on this software to work and thats what we pay Adobe for ???
I am currently working on :
    Mac OSX 10.9.3
    Mac Pro 5,1 Tower
Nvidia GTX 660 2GB Graphics card
    Cuda Drivers 6.0.37
I use a SSD swap drive and boot drive of 1/2 TB
I have a 6TB internal Raid for all my media files
I am editing 4K Red R3D files in a 4K timeline that I had no problem editing in previous version of Premier CC ???
If Adobe would have thought before changing the file compatibility with the new Premier Pro CC 2014 where you cant load a file updated to this new version back into Premier Pro CC previous revision or included some kind of import / export to and from previous versions I think we would all at least be operational again right now until Adobe can fix its errors in this new revision but they obviously didn't care to think about compatibility, safeguards for users and just adding more new features with a new file format in a buggy piece of software?
I have wasted days now on trying to solve these problems following other users in this forums suggestions including the following listed below:
    • Reinstalled my OS downgrading to 10.9.3 originally thinking it was something OS related since I updated to 10.9.4 around the same time this all started happening
    • Uninstalled / reinstalled Premier Pro CC 2014
    • I have updated my permissions to read/write on my main user account on the Adobe Library files
    • I have updated my permission to read/write on my main user account on my overall drive
    • I have reverted my CUDA drivers back one revision as these were recently updated as well
I AM TIRED AND FRUSTRATED WITH ALL OF THIS NONSENSE WHEN I JUST NEED TO EDIT SO CAN SOMEONE AT ADOBE PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT ON ALL OF THIS AND GET ME BACK TO A PLACE WHERE I CAN USE THE SOFTWARE I PAY FOR AND NEED TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH TO KEEP MY BUSINESS OPERATING AND COMPLETE THE WORK MY CLIENTS ARE WAITING FOR ???
Originally I was very impressed with Adobe CC and Premier CC once I started to work with it after many years of abandoning the use of Premier as a Final Cut Pro 7 user but later decided to try Adobe again when Apple abandoned its pro base with the original Final Cut X. I also did not think this new cloud software model was all that bad over the old boxed method. This was all also before the big Final Cut Pro X update in December 2013/early 2014 where Apple appears to be back to support the real Pros but I have stuck with Adobe CC and Premier CC and been happy since that time. Now I am wondering if this was wise as I have had a number of other issues with other CC Apps, updates, etc and this is starting to feel like Creative Cloud is becoming a big, sloppy, buggy mess to me?

    Also...
Add to right click menu of timelines an entry for "go to next keyframe" and "go to last keyframe" a la After Effects, we should also be able to assign a kb shortcut to this.
There are buttons on either side of the create keyframe button to advance forward or backward in the effects control panel or timeline.
You can also advance forward or backward in the effects control window by holding shift while dragging the playhead.
Allow copy/paste of selection of audio/video effects, not just one at a time. Sure we can copy/paste attributes but since we can also copy/paste effects it would only make sense to allow to copy/paste a selection of effects.
I guess I don't get this one. If I have 5 effects on a clip, I can simply command-click on the ones I want to copy over to the other clip.

  • Premier Pro CC 7.2.2 crashes on launch in Windows 7, probably self inflicted problem...

I installed PPCC 7.2.2 because I wanted to test the content analyzer to text functionality.
I started the software, loaded a file, and started the analyzer.  It then passed this over to Media Encoder as expected and the process chugged along merrily for about 30 minutes.  At which point I got bored and decide to stop the process and use a much smaller file to test with.
So, despite years of experience and knowing better I tried stopping the process, and when it wouldn't end I used the Windows Task Manager to kill the process in Media Encoder.
Now when I try to start Premier Pro CC 7.2.2 it crashes on launch and gives me the very descriptive message "Adope Premier Pro CC has stopped working."
My initial attempt to fix this was to uninstall PPCC 7.2.2 and reinstall it.  That didn't help.
Based on 38+ years of programming experience I suspect there is a corrupted temp file floating around that PPCC is finding when it launches.  So, I looked every place I could think of for temp files and/or crash dumps and deleted them all.
All the "crash on launch" discussions I have found so far refer to MAC systems, so I'm not sure where to look to repair the damage.
Anyone have any ideas on "the most likely" cause of the problem and what I need to clean up to fix it?
    Thanks, Bobw

I uninstalled Quicktime, rebooted 3 times to clear the Windows registry cache, reinstalled Quicktime, rebooted, then tried running PMPRCC 7.2.2.
I got the same non-descript error.  So, I checked the Resource Monitor it it showed only PMPRCC7.2.2 hung.  I checked the wait chain and it looks like this:
    Adobe Premier Pro.exe (PIC:7996) Thread: 1452

    Adobe Premier Pro.exe (PIC:7996) Thread: 1452

I grabbed screen shots of all that, and also grabbed the lists of "Associated Handles" and "Associated Modules."   I'm going to review the list of handles to see if there I can identify a file that has a date/time stamp near the time the problems start.   Let me know if you want me to post either or both lists.

  • Urgent: constant Crash Media encoder, premiere pro CC and CC2014.

(Sorry by advance, its an Google trad)
    Hello everyone!
I meet great difficulties with Premier Pro and Media encode CC and CC2014.
When I want to wire my pending projects that I go through File> Import (or even composition After Premier) or I simply do a drag / drop in Media Encoder .... Half the time it crashes, not charging Dynamic link not or crash Premier pro ..... with CC versions like 2014 .... I have no particular error message. However I have to process the killer Dynamic link, adobe (in general: QT32 server, Adobe ipCbrocker, PProHeadless.exe) via the Windows task manager. If not impossible to reopen the software.
I also noticed that even when the software does not crash, I close the first or afx or other software will not come out of the process, there is ad infinitum in the active process.
When I still manage to import my sequences in MediaEncoder, this plant some encodings but not all .... no particular reason and not telling me why he crashed. If it does not crash, it runs in a loop on the same image and I have to stop myself encoding, which never end. Knowing that all my files are part of a series, there has exactly the same things in it in terms of editing, effects etc.. Which by the way is only melted ....
Rush are my MXF files. And I use the Dynamic Link to import my sequences between Premier Pro and afx. Although it makes me exactly the same problem that I import directly my first or I go through Dynamic Link.
    I'm on:
    Windos Seven PRo 64bit.
    I have a 3.33GHz i7 X980
Nvidia GTX480 driver 337.88 (the latest what)
    AND 16GB RAm
My cache is not full, I empty it regularly. It is a hard look at projects and never moves.
So, if anyone has the same problem or knows a solution, I'm interested.
It falls at the wrong time, I have 200 to encode videos in one month.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Premier Pro CC and Media Encoder crashing on long file export.

Please forgive the length of this inquiry. But it is complicated and has a lot of variables.
I have an hour long mixed format timeline both Red 3K footage and Black Magic ProRes 1080P footage that I want to make a DVD from and it takes forever and crashes half way through. I have tried doing it every way possible and the only way I was able to get even a partial export was using the "MPEG 2 DVD" export option in Premier CC. It goes fast at first telling me it will take about 2 hours but even though it starts quickly doing about 15 fps it slows down to less than 1 fps and finally just stops and crashes my Cuda Core enabled Macbook Pro Laptop.
I really don't know who to ask about this since there are so many different variables. I never had a problem like this on my MBP with PP6 on a 4K timeline exporting to DVD or Blue Ray or to H-264 or Even Prores. But I wasn't mixing formats either. But on this project the first 20-30 minutes of footage goes through fine in a couple of hours but something seems to be bogging down the system on longer projects. My work around was to break the project up into multiple exports and combining them on the DVD timeline but I can't do this on every project. I thought maybe it was a corrupted clip somewhere in the timeline but when I broke the timeline up into several parts I had no problems.
I did notice a dramatic variance in the time it took to export footage based on the sequence settings. A one minute timeline comprised Red 3K footage and ProRes 1080P footage Here are some sample export results:
From a Red raw 3K timeline 2880x1620  with 1080P Prores footage upscaled 150%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format    1:48 Minutes ***
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ  1080P                         22 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                    22 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                22 Minutes
From a 1080P timeline Prores footage at 100%  (Red footage downscaled to 67%)
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format                         13 Minutes
    to .mov  Prores 422HQ 1080P                             13 Minutes
    to .mov H.264  1080P                                                             14 Minutes
    to .m2v Mpeg 2 1080P                                                            14 Minutes
Since I am going to DVD,  I chose the fastest option  Red to m2v Mpeg 2 720x480 format which only took 1:48 per minute. Why? I have no idea. Maybe someone here knows the answer. But again these numbers are for a ONE MINUTE clip when I tried to convert the whole hour timeline to  the 720x480.m2v DVD File the Red timeline froze my computer after several hours even though I had set sleep mode to “Never” and turned the display off manually and I had to convert it in multiple chunks. In 20-30 minute chunks it did go fast about 1:48 per minute like the test indicated. But I would like to be able to convert the whole hour and not to have to try to stitch the clips together in my DVD authoring program.
I don’t want to have to avoid using multiple formats on the same timeline or waste time transcoding everything to the same format.
Can anyone give me any suggestions as to why the computer is crashing or bogging down in long exports and what timeline settings I should be using?
I have plenty of room on my Scratch Disk and 8 Gig of RAM and according to my Activity Monitor during the export process  have about 800 Meg of System Memory during export but the CPU Usage is 98% and in my Activity Monitor I see under “Process Name” ImporterRedServer flashing up at the top of the list about every second during export.
Why .720x480 mpeg DVD setting is so much faster than all the other export codecs?
And if there are any other settings I can use to get higher speed exports in HD? 14x1 seems a little slow especially since every time it crashes I have to start over.

    Hi,
Since a long time I did not encounter the crash of Media encoder with
    long file export.
But I take care of a lot of details before the export :
    - clean up Media cache and Media Cache Files within PP CS6 and/or CC,
    - delete all render files with Preview Files,
    - rendering of sequences until the rendering is completed,
    - PP CS6 and/or Pp CC opened during export to AME and/or Encore CS6,
I guessed to leave Adobe but this company remains the last with a
serious authoring software (Encore CS 6).
    I tested :
    - Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro X, both are very good software but
no really authoring software for these video editing softs.
Th only way is to "flood" Adobe with "bug reports" and "wish forms"
which are not very easy to use.
And also to call the Adobe support day by day until they send they
    escalate the bug.

Why do you have the nVidia CUDA drivers installed on your nMP?  It doesn't have any CUDA hardware on it.  That's what Pr is tripping over.
Remove CUDA.  Kill it with fire.  Nuke it from orbit.
    Then try again.

  • Adobe Premier Pro cc is crashing on my Mac Pro

I am using Premier Pro CC on my new Mac Pro desktop. It is powerful but the program is crashing frequently. I have reinstalled the program and rebooted the computer. What could be the problem? Thank you.

I was suspicious that merging the audio and video files (whose bit rates did not match) may have been the culprit. So, I batch converted all of the .WAV audio from my Tascam DR-05, to bit rate matched .AIF files. With these new audio files, I remerged the audio and video files. Thus far, the crashing has gone away.
Hope this helps the many others facing this Mac PP CS6 crashing issue.

  • After effects and Premier pro corrupted after dynamiclinkserver crash CS6

    Hi guys,
The title says it all really.
I was trying to render an after effects file in CS6
I opened Premier Pro and created a dynamic link. this crashed after a while and both programs now fail to start up.
I have tried most of the suggested fixes to no avail.
For information: I also have CC installed and it runs fine. If i log in as another user with a clean profile then they run fine. So im guessing its a common user based issue.
premier pro just stops working on launch
After effects freezes on the mediacore loading. It then gives a message saying Quicktime is not installed on this computer (It is). If i click okay it then proceeds to crash with a dialogue box which refers to the dynamiclinkserve.exe
Becasue it seems to be profile based im thinking a reinstall wont make any difference here.
    All help greatly appreciated
    all the best
    chris

    FIXED!
if you have this issue the best way to see if the dynamiclink server is in a crash loop. It will intermittently freeze your machine. On the task manager you will see it starting and quitting.

post 15. Solved it for me (the prefs in dynamiclinkmanager)
    cheers
