Constant disconnecting and reconnecting with WPA2 enterprise wifi. Any available solution?

I know it can't be the wifi because as recent as yesterday on Mavericks everything was fine. Now after the update it constantly disconnects and reconnects as much as a few times per five minutes! I've read on Reddit other people are having similar problems. Hopefully Apple fixes this soon.

Looking at the Console.app logs, it seems that the machine decides to bounce between two APs:

Have a 2008/9 iMac on starting up today I have only a white screen, apple icon and a continuous  revolving sun. Have tried turning off and on and disconnecting and reconnecting the power with no affect - any thoughts or advice please. Thanks Matt

If your iMac came w/system DVDs, do the following:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your DVD that originally came w/the iMac while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

  • IPhone 3G WiFi disconnects and reconnects every few seconds

    hey guys
i just updated my phone to 4.0.1 and lately (before the update as well) my iphone has been playing up on me
Like the wifi works and all but when i go to the appstore for example...it disconnects and reconnects constantly and stops downloads cause it stops like 1-2 secs it begins.
i tried everything resetting network settings, turning phone on/off, DFU mode, taking off WPA and broadcasting the modem, it just doesnt want to work.
Mind you this was working for around a month and just like 2 days ago this happens and i cant fix it. I even tried the McDonalds free wifi and that works but its very slow couldnt download anything but it didnt disconnect/reconnect
Also the router is working on both the Wii and PS3 without a prob, just these 2 days on my iPhone
    any suggestions?

I upgraded my 3G to 4.0.1 and had the same issue - could not connect to my secure wireless network. It DID, however, connect to my neighbor's unsecured network. I tried resetting Network Settings, resetting All Settings, rebooting my iPhone, rebooting my router, multiple times, all without luck.
I had to do a FULL RESTORE from iTunes, install as a NEW PHONE and now I can connect to my wireless network. But even after the full restore, I don't see any improvement in phone performance. Still slow, still laggy, still crashes (requiring a reboot) with some apps. And now I have a phone set back to factory default. Grr.

What do I do about this message? I've restored it 3 times, but this message still comes up, and i cannot put music on it now.

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

  • How can I troubleshoot this problem with the iMac keyboard? My keyboard disconnects and reconnects within seconds but all the typing is lost while it was offline.  This is usually 5 seconds or less but happens 2 or 3 times in a minute.  Annoying!

My wireless keyboard disconnects and reconnects within seconds but all text that was typed during the time offline is missing.  i have to go back and retype missing parts.  What can I do to troubleshoot this.  The computer is only about six month old.  This problem is new in the last couple weeks.  Thanks for suggestions.

Beat me to it, Donald.     But there is a possible alternative.  If the batteries have been replaced since new, were they replaced with the same batteries or another make.    There are examples around which do not fit perfectly and leave a certain amount of movement inside the battery housing.  That could lead to instability such as the OP describes.

  • I plugged my ipod into my computer to load up new tunes and it froaze on the time I dad connected it with the message 'do not disconnect' on the screen.Despite disconnecting and reconnecting it and ensuring it was charged up it will not operate. The 'lock

I plugged my ipod into my computer to load up new tunes and it froaze on the time I dad connected it with the message 'do not disconnect' on the screen. Despite disconnecting and reconnecting it and ensuring it was charged up it will not operate. The 'lock' symbol is showing at the top of the screen even when I have moved the lock switch. I have been using my ipod for several years with no similar fault. What is the problem/solution?

I would first try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Next would be to restore the iPod from backup

Are you running any Firewalls or Anti-Virus software? If so, disable all of that stuff & try again.

  • Macbook Pro Wifi Issues with WPA2 Enterprise key

I have a MBP 13" mid 2009 model. There is usually no problems connecting to home networks. It remembers the passwords and connected seamlessly. However, I have problems connecting to networks with WPA2 Enterprise settings. I had tried it in NYU and I am trying it at my current school too. It keeps forgetting the WPA2 key from time to time and although I have tried all ways to get it to remember the key it still fails. I have used other MBP from the same time frame and they seem to be working perfectly. Even my iPod touch works perfectly with these WPA2 enterprise networks. Can anyone suggest a workaround?

The networks do support WPA2. It works perfectly on windows 7 and other MBPs. There it doesn't keep asking the password and stores the password in keychain. But on my MBP it keeps asking me for the password from time to time

Thanks, but I have done that.  All the settings on the mini are identical to the iPad 3 & still the mini won't work properly.  I'm sure it was something I had to change on servers to get both the Macbook & iPad 3 working, just wish I could remember what!!  Any more suggestions welcome! Thanks

  • WPA2-enterprise WIFI can't connect after upgrading to 6.1 or higher

    Hi. Please help.
We have a campus wifi with two ssids: one open for everyone and one closed with wpa2-enterprise (PEAP) security for staff. All iphones and ipads works just fine on ios version 6.01 but they can't connect to secured wifi network after updating to ios ver 6.1 and higher (tried 6.1.2). They still able to connect to open wlan ssid. Our WIFI equipment is: Extremenetworks WM3600 controllers and AP4600/AP4511 access points running WM5.4.1. WMM enabled.
WM3600 controller use Windows2008 r2 NPS server + active directory for authorization (selfsigned certificates is 2048 bit length).
    WM3600 wlan staff configuration settings:
    wlan Staff
    description TOGU staff network
    ssid STAFF
    vlan 238
    bridging-mode tunnel

    authentication-type eap
    no answer-broadcast-probes
    protected-mgmt-frames optional
    radius vlan-assignment
    no motorola-extensions symbol-load-information
    use aaa-policy Domain_aaa
Here is the log from iphone configuration utility with connection error:

    Hope to get any help.

Yes. We tried to reboot iphone(s), tried also with ipads 6.1. We tried to reset network settings.
We tried to add wifi profile to clean new iphone using iphone configuration utility.
Wireless supplier can't help - they told it is an ios issue and I think this is true because all
ipads/iphones works just fine on  ios5 or 6.0.1 but can't connect on 6.1

  • Certificate renewal with WPA2-Enterprise PEAP MS-CHAPv2

    Hello
We have a wireless network which is secured with WPA2-Enterprise with PEAP and MS-CHAPv2. The Radius servers (Windows Server 2008r2 with the Radius Feature installed) currently use a public signed certificate. This is about to expire soon and will need to be renewed.
The clients are non-managed and from all variety (OS, wifi-software, ...).
The Wifi is 4400 controller based and managed with the new Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
What is the best way to do the renewal with as little disturbance for the client as possible? The less manual interaction for the end user the better.
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Hello Patrick,
As per your query i can suggest you the following steps-
Since the root CA is the most critical CA in the hierarchy, you may prefer to have a strategy here that reduces the need to renew the root certificate often.
The first consideration is choosing the key length of the root's public key and private key pair during setup of the root authority. By using a long key length, which is generally more secure against brute force attack than a shorter key length, you increase the length of time that the CA can use the same private key and have reasonable confidence that it has not been compromised. The second consideration is establishing the validity period of the root certificate itself. In general, you will want to create a root certificate that has a shorter validity period than the estimated lifetime of the key.
For more information you can refer to the link-

    Hope this will help you.

I experienced the same problem with my Lumia 800 and the MyWay audio/navi/BT telephone system in my previous and current Citroën C5 (both latest model (PhIII)): http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/Bluetooth-and-3G/td-p/1288591 .
I first thought it had something to do with switching from G to 3G and back. But in the end I discovered that BT on the Lumia 800 just disabled itself, while connected to my cars BT system. I have started the procedure to send my Lumia tot Nokia Care. Keep You informed.

  • Several times a day my HP Laptop disconnects and reconnects to my WRT600N router.

    I’ve installed a new WRT600N.  (Firmware Version: 1.01.35 build 5_20080115).
My install was a “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” guided and is generic.  SPI Firewall Protection is enabled.  Security Mode is enabled for WPA-Personal.
The laptop I use with router is an HP/Compaq 6710b (also new), running XP Pro.  The built-in WiFi adapter is a “G” type (Intel PRO/Wireless 394ABG) with “Windows Wireless Network Connection” enabled.
Presently I don’t use the “N” capability of the router.  However, I plan buy a 2nd laptop with an “N” WiFi adapter soon.
The router works well…most of the time. Signal strength is “Very Good”.  However, several times a day my HP Laptop disconnects and reconnects to the router.
Each time this happens I get a “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” prompt stating “Network Problem!...the connection to the router is not working”.
After experimentation I realize that most often the connection will restore by itself…or worst case; I can re-detect and restore the connection using either the “Linksys EasyLink Advisor”  wizard OR the “Windows Wireless Network Connection” wizard.
Besides losing the connection, the most annoying part of this is that after the connection is restored and the “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” wizard message remain indicating: “Network Problem!...the connection to the router is not working”.
    Suggestions?

There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from WEP to WPA encryption.
If you continue to have problems, try the following:
For wireless n routers, try setting the "n Transmission Rate" to 162 Mbps, and the (wireless g) "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
If you still have trouble, download and install the latest firmware for your router. After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Podcasts no longer appear under ipod device in I tunes library.  I can access podcasts on my ipod but I CANNOT access podcasts on I tunes library.  I have disconnected and reconnected.  I have restored my ipod.  I have checked for updates. What else?

'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library.  I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library.  I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music.   I can add more podcasts to ipod.  The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts.   When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device.  So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library.  I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod.  I have checked for updates.  I have restored the ipod to it's original settings.  My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

To be clear, the podcast icon disappeared under Ipod device in Itunes.  I can access and manage the podcasts in the itunes library.  I can't manage podcasts on my ipod via itunes (which means I can't delete podcasts from my ipod). I can access podcasts on my ipod, itself.
