Constant disconnects using VZ Mgr

I really am tired of having to retype everything due to being erased here.
This is my only alternative to dial up and not at $60 a month I am constantly being disconnected from on line. What a pain! Never had that on dial up with aol. The tech support never knows what is going on and both times I have called there is no solution apparently. All the last guy said is he will watch.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I am using a desk top comp and not on a router or anything. I have not used the USB port prior so that should be fine.
I just got this VZManager late March and all was fine unitl the entire month of May and now started to regularly knock me off again. Thank you

In order to narrow down possible fixes, you will need to provide a little additional information.
If you can, provide the following information, this will give a good start to a resolution:
1. Which Operating System including the Service Pack are you using?  i.e. Windows Vista, 7, XP or a Mac.
2. Which device do you have?
3. Which anti virus and firewall program do you use?
4. Do you have any syncing software that you use on a normal basis? i.e. for syncing cellphone, dropbox, activesync, etc.
5. What is the signal strength?  Determine this by hovering your mouse pointer over the top of the Green signal bars in the lower left section of the VZAccess Manager.
6. When the problems began, did you notice if any software updates to either the VZAccess or to the Operating System were installed?
This will give me a starting point and of  course there may be additional settings, information needed to further research.
Also, when it "disconnects" are you actively browsing, have you been on the same page for a bit, is it during a certain time of day?
Note anything that may be happening at the time of the disconnect that may help associate the problem.

  • Constant disconnects with Linksys BEFW11S4/Westell/Bellsouth Ultra DSL

I recently upgraded to the 6mb DSL service from Bellsouth.  Previously I had the 3mb.  Anyways everything was fine for sometime even with the faster service.  The last few weeks I have been having constant disconnects(several a day).  Naturally the wireless lite on my Linksys BEFW11S4 goes out each time.  I then un-power the router then re-power and I'm off and running again.  I am using a westell modem.  Bellsouth tells me that its not them since i do have an internet coneection and referred me to Linksys.  After several live chats(due to disconnects and then having to start tellin my issue all over again) they had me upgrade my firmware. Well did that and problem hasn't changed.  I've played with the different router channels and they don't seem to help as well.  Bellsouth told me that I had a static ip, so I tied setting up router that way, but then i got no connection.  Unil reently everything was fine, this just started!   Any help is greatly appreicated.  My 17 yr old daughter is going through internet withdraws upstairs!

If you are on DSL using a Westell Modem; make sure you ask your ISP to bridge the Modem first and use the PPPoE fucntion on your router. Change the LAN IP of the router to something else like 192.168.2.1 so it won't get a conflict with the IP of the Westell. Then if you are on cable, you can try adjusting the MTU size to 1492, 1400, 1300, or 576 then check which value would get your connection stable. You can reset your router right after you upgrade it also, then reconfigure it again. Hopefully yell be fine after that!

  • Constant disconnecting with my WRT120N

    Hi
I have a problem with my wrt120n. I'm having a constant disconnecting problem.
I don't have any problem with the wireless computers connected to the router but the wired one keep geeting disconnected. I'm loosing the internet many times a day on thiis one. Like I said the wireless is ok.
My old router on my computer ( wired) was working well before I installed the wrt120n.
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you!

This is a problem of the Linksys/Cisco WRT120N product itself.  The team from Cisco/Linksys is very irresponsible. Why i say so ?
The 802.11n signal is not certified to be supported but yet they have included this support in this router.  By doing so, it causes this related problem that most consumers must be facing now or in the past.  It is a shame that such a big company operates and sell their products this way.
The solution:  It does not have anything to do with MTU, beacon interval etc....  Just use Mixed BG wireless signal instead of
Wireless N only when you goes to Manual Setup.  I am sure that this solves the problem.

  • Import (v. 7.1.5) iPhotos from old iMac to new iMac (v. 9.2) using Migration Mgr. over fire wire.  All photos (  many dups) appeared in EVENTS and PHOTOS in the new Mac – but NO ALBUMS.

Attempted to import 6.5 GB of (v. 7.1.5) iPhotos from old iMac to new iMac (v. 9.2) using Migration Mgr. over fire wire.  All photos (plus many dups) appeared in EVENTS and PHOTOS in the new Mac – but NO ALBUMS.  I read a previous response to a similar question -- to copy the pictures library to the new computer.  How best to do that?

There's actually an option to iPhoto Library Manager that makes this all almost work flawlessly (and work well enough for me). With the exception of Photo Albums that the pictures are part of, if you select "Library > Rebuild Library..." and then select "Scavange Orphaned Photos" check box, then it will put all the Photos and Movies into the "Scavanged Photos" album. It matches the modified pictures to their originals. It preserves all the event names and photo groupings. All the meta-data I could spot check it got right (although with 44k pictures, I only checked a few). If you fail to select this option, however, it will find no pictures at all when it goes to rebuild the library (this was true of the small test libraries I tried as well as the big, monster 280GB library I just finished converting). The conversion process took 5 hours to run, but in the end produced a library my new iPhoto can read and that I can interact with. I'll be suggesting to the iPhoto Library Manager folks a notation that would estimate the number of Orphaned Photos and display that number as a hint to the user that the option would be useful.
Edited: Thanks to Old Toad and LarryHN for their help in finding which of the many options to transition this library to 9.5.1 I needed to use. Sorry if I took my frustration of the past several months out on you guys for generously trying to help me.

  • Constant disconnects with wireless router.

Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I have a WRT54G wireless router with speed booster. I am experiencing constant disconnects when online gaming. I have one PC - running windows vista 64bit ultimate. This computer is running a wireless connection which is secured and is about 10 feet from the router through a wall.
I also have an xbox 360 with a wired connection. It doesnt seem to have the same issues but does become a bit sluggish at times.
I have called linksys and they instructed me on how to upgrade to the latest firmware. I think it is 7.5.0 or something. Still having issues. Cox (my ISP) has been out and says I am getting a constant 2mb download.
Any help would be appreciated. I have talked to linksys again they have me pull up cmd and run a test which shows me at a 4-10% packet loss. They say this is an acceptable rate.
Still the problems continue. If anyone can help I would be very greatful. If you need more info just let me know and I will provide whatever I can. Thanks!!!

Sounds like a vista problem, they are breading like rabbits it seems. The WRT54G is a good router, I had one for years with no problems. What type of wireless card do you have in the pc, and is it PCI or USB

  • Constant Disconnecting in Calls (Devices using Wi-...

    Hello everyone,
I posted once about this issue before and only got one reply (which did not solve the issue).  The problem has now escalated to an infuriating level, preventing me from participating in any and all calls for more than twenty seconds.  You can find the original thread here.
Basically, every time I call someone on any device that doesn't use direct ethernet (laptops, cell phone, etc.), the call will cause my internet connection to become highly unstable to the point of reconnecting and dropping every few seconds until the call eventually completely fails.  This internet instability affects all devices on the network at that given time and will only last so long as my call is running.
I have attempted resetting my windows sockets, as the user "MELERIX" has suggested, and it did not prove successful.
    What should I do?
    Thanks for your time.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

there are 3 things that i potentially see as issues with your calls.
    1. check to see if direct connections are enabled with contacts. there is an option in "Advanced" | "Connection".  Also enable the option for additional incoming ports on that page.
    Reason:
most of the time if you are trying to do the same thing on multiple machines in the same house there is a port conflict b/c they are all trying to claim the same signals. also if there is a internet service involved (skype server) all 3 have to make connection out to the internet and then in to the recieving computer. If i understood you correctly, you are doing that 3 times on your ATT u-verse connection.
side note: if you have port forwarding or DMZ on any of the 3, that can cause issues with NAT. try turning it off.
    2. ATT U verse Connection. the issue is not with ATT but with DSL/ADSL as a technology.
Reason: unless you have subscribed to one of their highest subscriptions, you are probably capped on speed at around 12Mbps down and 800Kbps up. The highest they offer is 45Mbps/5Mbps
Also the first nuber on you plan is the max total of both combined. for example. if i have a speed of 5M/1M and i am downloading at 4.5Mbps that means there is only 0.5 M left avail for upload even though i could reach a speed of 1Mbps up based on service. Also the fine print says "Speed claim(s) represent maximum downstream and/or upstream speed capabilities which may vary and are not guaranteed."
after reviewing your internet service with ATT check out the bandwith needed for skype here.
i usually have 3-5 people in a group call (video) every monday night. ( 2Mbps / 512kbps recommeded). if 3 of those people were in my house it would be recommended to have 6Mbps / 1.5Mbps to support it from my ISP. this does not include other people in the house doing other things like games or netflix.
    3. Router
As i discussed with limits of your ISP, your home network is also a potential problem too, b/c it is an extension of your internet hardware to your PC. if you have an older router or an all-in-one it may not have the power to connect to 3 devices at once with a high bandwidth app like skype. some routers will work awesome for years... until they dont.
Reason: most "value" branded home routers, like linksys's old WRT54g, could only handle a max of 5 "simultaneous" "high-demand" connections wirelessly. if you have a device that is your DSL modem that logs you into your internet, as well as splits signal for wired pc, and on top of that handles wireless (all-in-one). you might be getting what you paid for it. and if att provided it for free. then you are getting your moneys worth.
i have cable internet and my modem is separate from my router (makes it easier to replace or upgrade one piece if needed). for modem and router i had spent around $250 two years ago and i shouldnt have in issue until wireless N is obsolete.

  • Constant Disconnection from Router

    Hi,
I'm trying to get my N95 to co-operate with the Simple Home Media Server software I have.
For a few moments it will see the server, even connect and access it. After a minute, at the most, it will disconnect.
Can anyone help with this problem or is it a bug with the N95?
It never happened when I first got my phone and just used it for browsing via the wlan.
    Thanks,
    Cayne
Message Edited by caynus on 19-Jan-2008 01:18 PM

Are you still able to browse the the net via wlan? If, no then you try to format you phone, backing up first. If yes, there are some configuration in home media server that you have overlook.
Frequent disconnection on wlan have numerous causes:
1- Interference from other signal that uses 2.4Ghz
signal such as microwave, remote tel. unit, etc.
2- Settings on you wlan got corrupted.
3- Port settings;one should choose a port with less interuptions

  • Constant Disconnection from Cellular Network

Hi There, so I've gotten my iPhone 5 32GB since July 2013 and I honestly adore the phone however, there is a problem i'm facing with it quite recently.... the phone keeps disconnecting from the cellular network carrieer every 10 secs of the day... so...I'll start up the phone it connects with 5 blocks of reception.. then it drops to four...then to 1... then it completely disconnects itself from the network and the Edge sign disappers and then 5 secs after it connects back. I dont use my phone much to talk.. however.. it messes up my data plan, i can't even make a call that is more than 10secs... it drains the battery life and I have to wait every few secs to send a whatsapp mesg/fb etc. . I spoke to my carrier... they used different sims of the same network to see if its the sim card itself being the issue.. but its not.. we even used another network's sim.. but no difference.. What should I do?
Sincerely, Stefan (first time Apple user)

    Hey stef4896,
These are all the standard troubleshooting steps for the issue you're encountering:
Follow the instructions below for assistance with troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrierto report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.

  • Constant disconnects with "no PPPoE" and "no valid IP address" errors

I have AT&T DSL and have an Airport Extreme connected to a Speedstream 4100 modem. My Internet connection has been fine for nearly a year with the AEBS but for the past couple weeks has been disconnecting so frequently that it's almost become useless. The problems reported by the AEBS are: PPPoE Server (no PPPoE server found) and Internet Connection (AEBS doesn't have a valid IP address). It's always these two problems reported.
Restarting the AEBS gets me connected again, and sometimes the connection will come back on its own, but only for a short while. I don't know how to troubleshoot this. Help! Here are my AEBS settings:

    Radio Channel Selection: Automatic
    Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
    Use wide channels: Checked

  • 5508 WLC on 7.4MR2- Clients getting Disconnected using CWA

We are experiencing an issue with clients getting disconnected/time out from a wlan doing CWA.  The clients are iphones.  A debug client shows the error(Unknown Policy Timeout). This particular WLAN is used for provisioning with ISE. ISE shows the user authenticated the entuire time.  At first, we though it was the user idle timeout setting on the WLAN advanced tab, but after increasing that clients still get disconnected.  The disconnect occurs around 2 minutes.  Sometimes longer around 10 minutes.  Cisco seems to think we are hitting a bug introduced in 7.3.112 and will not be fixed until 8.0.  Below are the bug details and the debug output.  Has anyone seen this?  Any possible work-arounds? Thanks.

  • Firewire disconnects using motu 828 mkii and Mackie ONYX 1620i. Why?

Having replaced my trusted MOTU 828 mkii as it kept disconnecting itself and needed rebooting including removal and replacement of the firewire lead, I have encounted the very same problem with the Mackie ONYX 1620i.
Interestingly it happened recently when I powered up a guitar amp in the same room the other day so I called my electrician friend to check out all the power outlets/sockets on the studio main. His comments were "no issues".
    - As there are no other gemlins associated to the power I put it down as coincidence but had to rule it out.
I have tried a multiple of firewire leads and had the same results.
The only firewire device that seems ok is a Behringer FCA 202!!!! (Embarrasing!) - I use this for stereo output only (to the same active monitors) and swap FW lead and Output Jacks when using each device.
This is with Macbook Pro (2010), Logic Studio 9, iTunes, etc. (all purchased products and same problem with ALL audio software).
Using Lion but was an issue with previous OSX.
    Certainly a head scratcher.
    Anyone had any similar issues?

    That's interesting. Thanks Benjy.
Please be sure to update here if you do encounter anything similar.
I cannot afford to replace my 'live' desk as well as another soundcard.
Plus, I really don't think I should have to - Mackie and MOTU are established and reputable device manufacturers and this seems to be an Apple issue.
    Apple?
Anyone else sncountered similar and found a resolution after advice from apple?

  • Constant disconnect after 9 minutes

My boyfriend lives in Australia and I'm in the US - we Skype every day but it's extremely difficult
It disconnects every 8:50-9 minutes exactly during every call. A few times at 3 minutes or 6 minutes exactly. Sometimes when we call each other we cant hear each other at all and have to try again until it works - it can go on for 4-5 tries in a row. I don't know if this is Skype or a network error. It happens to us on Facebook video chat too after the same amount of time and the same issue with the occasional no audio.
My connections are fine but he's on mobile so I don't know if its his network cutting in and out or what but regardless I'd really like some help so that we can screenshare and watch DVDs together
    Help is much appreciated!!

The behavior you describe isn't normal, snc. iMovie shouldn't interrupt the import at 9 minutes. There should be no pause to "convert" to DV. That's not typical of iMovie.
The entire video should import to iMovie direct to DV files inside the Media folder, starting a new file every 9+ minutes. That's the 2GB file-size limit for iMovie clips. There should be no pause. Importing should continue until the end of the video.
That said, it's possible there's a tape flaw that is confusing iMovie. A short break in the video at 9 minutes — where you stopped shooting, advanced the tape a bit, then started taping — would cause what you describe. Or, I suppose, a tape defect. Or even, I suppose, a dirty play head that's created an imperfect recording.
    Some things to try:
    • Try using a head-cleaning tape.
    • Try recording longer than 11 minutes with a different tape, and import that. If the problem goes away, the problem is with the other tape.
    • Is the project on an external disk? Make sure the disk the project resides on uses the Mac OS Extended disk format. If it's not, iMovie may be having problems saving to disk, causing the strange pause you see.
My guess is the problem will go away with a new tape.

  • Ichat, AIM, Adium frequently disconnect using Airport

Ichat, AIM, & Adium all frequently disconnect when using Airport. I use a Linksys Wireless Router with an Airport extreme card. When directly connected to the router, I have no problem. Using a PC with Windows XP, AIM operates fine. Safari and Firefox work fine, although sometimes I receive errors connecting to pages, when I try again no problem. Using any of the chat programs, I lose connection, but then can reconnect. After a few times, the AOL servers will prevent login.
I use COMCAST Cable internet service. My wireless router uses WEP encryption. I would switch to an AIrport Base station, but doubt it would correct the problem.
I have had this problem previously, but it corrected itself. now it is making chat programs unusable.
    Any ideas?

    Hi John,
By default Linksys units normally have the IP address of 192.168.1.1
Is this true for both your units or have you changed one of them ?
You may only find this out if you connect directly to the Modem one.
Also you have not said if only one of them is doing DHCP.
Example pic 3 on this page. This shows this device as getting it own contact IP address by DHCP (like from your ISP). Further down the page in the pic it shows the device is also acting as a DHCP server to the local net.
If your router is set up like this it could be getting an IP address usng DHCP like this device shows and that would tend to mean that the Modem is acting as a DHCP server as well.
If both devices still have the default IP addresses you will have conflicts, which probably explians the problems you have.
