Constant Download Errors & Content Deletion

I have 2 problems that I've contacted Apple about many, many times without any resolution. They just keep treating me like a moron and then making me go through the same hoops that don't work. Can anyone help:
1. This is the most persistent. I get an error 5000 at the end of a download saying i don't have proper authority to write to the drive (but I do, i'm an administrator of my machine). The content does not write to my drive (can't find it anywhere) and then i can't download it again as the iTunes store thinks I've already downloaded it. This has happened probably 10 times and I'm missing many things I've paid for. HELP!!!!!!
2. This is a new one. I did a sync and iTunes deleted content from my iPod saying i don't have rights on this computer to it (though it was downloaded on this computer and paid for on this computer).
I really don't want to hate Apple, but i'm getting there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tks,
Eric

Take a close look at the error message to see what it says. I got that yesterday on one site. It couldn't find a file that I had added to the site when creating it originally. It was looking on the Desktop for it as that's where it was when I imported it into iWeb. I has since deleted or moved the file somewhere else. For some reason iWeb 09 occasionally acts like iDVD, i.e. referencing items. I added the photo again, republished and it went thru as it should. So look closely at the error message to see what is causing iWeb its heartburn.

  • Cannot download a movie i recieve a constant download error with no code

Trying to download a movie from itunes after a few minutes of downloading I receive a constant download error message with no error code, trying again several times in different days and is the same, I have tryed with two different connections and the problem remains.

    Hey 321Tammy,
Thanks for the question, I can definitely understand how frustrating this situation can be. What is the error message you receive when you attempt to download the movie? You can check the following resource for possible errors and solutions:

  • Apple TV - Deleting an incomplete direct HD Movie download - error (-50)

Purchased 2 movies at the same time - HD Movie format direct to my Apple TV. One downloaded and watched OK, the other had a download error (-50) and every time I try re-downloading it ( on both the "resume" and "check for downloads"areas) , same error is evident - Seems to me the only way is to delete this incomplete and download again (hopefully I won't pay again?)
How do I do this? any other solutions welcome?

Take a look at this Apple article -> iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content
You may have to delete the cached download from the location below.

  • HT1725 I have downloads that have a download error, and won't download. How do I delete them

How do I delete podcasts and movies that won't download due to download error?

AHA, you have Firmware password protection in Mac OS X , disable it & try Option/alt...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1352
It would block usage of all the startup keys, like C, N, T, D, CMD+s, CMD+Option+p+r, CMD +v, Option, and Shift, as well as booting from anything but the Hard Drive.

    Hello there, asim01.
The following Knowledge Base articles offer a few pointers with troubleshooting issues with downloads from iTunes. First thing to try is verifying connectivity to the iTunes Store:

If the issue is related to an interrupted download:

  • I have a "download error" of a purchased movie. How do I delete the download attempt?

I have a "download error" of a purchased movie that I was attempting to download to my iPad. How do I delete the download attempt? Since it has been there several weeks now, it is safe to assume it is not going to download to my iPad. I just want to get rid of it!

Perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • I keep getting the message "an error occurred downloading this content" does anyone know how to fix this?

I rented a movie but I can't seem to play it. I keep getting the message an error occurred downloading this content. Please try again later. It doesn't tell me how much later, but I've tried off and on for a week and I can't seem to resolve it.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
This sometimes resolved by unplugging the Apple TV for a few moments and trying again, others have found restarting the router may help. Another reason that message can occur is when the download speed is extremely slow, have you tested your Internet download speed with speediest.net.

  • Why constant Podcast download errors?

Constantly get "download error, tap to retry".    This especially true for news and financial programs.....   So info is there but not able to be downloaded.   I can delete the pending file, but that doesn't get the info downloaded.    Is this issue with my iPad or Apple?    Also, it often seems news programs are not available for days.....again is this Apple or networks?

  • Family icloud sharing: error message when trying to download itunes content

I just signed up for family icloud sharing, but cannot download any of my husband's itunes content. I just get an error message saying "An error has occurred" with the buttons "retry" or "done. Every file is the same. Thanks in advance for your help!

Some songs will not download if you have restricted your device from downloading explicit content. This seems to be true even for songs that are not marked "explicit." To remove the restriction, if only temporarily: Settings > General > Restrictions > Music, Podcasts & iTunes U > Explicit (slide dot to left).

I have been trying to fix this for 4 weeks , several visits to the apple store ... all irrelevant suggestions , was even told to buy an Apple TV ten 3 as it was an issue with HD steaming only supported on the new unit ...
I do not go on these sites , but Apple are losing the plot these days  ...
Here is what I found that fixed the issue for me ...
    1) go to Gen\network\DNS
    2) It will be set to Auto , for some reason the DNS is being set to you router , not your service provider ...
    3) I am with Charter (do a quick search charter DNS on the Web) , will give you their DNS ,
    Charter DNS Servers
    http://www.charter.com
    Primary DNS: 24.196.64.53
    Secondary DNS:
View all United States of America DNS Servers
    4) Go to manaul and set the DNS to the service prover
    5) should be good to go ...
Why we have to go to the level to solve this stuff I have no idea ..... hope it helps ....

  • Downloading iOS 5 deleted all my photos, contacts, and text messages, i recieved an (-50) error during setup, and i was running the new update of iTunes.

Downloading iOS 5 deleted all my contact, pictures, and texts. I was running the new update of iTunes and i still recieved an error of (-50). Can anyone help with how i can get all my stuff back? Also i just had updated my phone in October and it said the last time i updated 5/18/11 which is not true i am using a PC.

I had the same problem and managed to get all my old contacts back. It was because I synced my contacts toiCloud on the initial setup, but nothing was in there. If you go to settings-iCloud- and turn off contacts, your old contacts should appear!

    From a previous post:
    Turn off your iPhone.
Open iTunes on your computer.  Click Store > Check for Available Downloads
Once downloads complete on your computer plug in your iPhone to your computer and sync it with iTunes.
